When Safari Met Skate, the Zoom Tre “Safari”

Nike SB Zoom Tre "Safari"

It’s no surprise but one of Tinker Hatfield’s designs has made its way through plenty of popular models in the Nike catalog. It took 20 years for the Air Max 95 to get the “safari” look , but back in 2006 the Nike SB Zoom Tre got the treatment.

For those that don’t know what the Zoom Tre was (is?), it’s a model made for the purpose of, surprise, skating. Following the lead from models like the URL and the E-Cue, the Zoom Tre was created with longevity in mind. That’s how Nike came up with the unique, ventilated, 3D injected synthetic upper that was made to be hit by grip tape multiple times and not tear or fray. That allowed the sneaker to be worn for a long time before having to be replaced while still giving the rider feel around the toes along with breathability. For cushioning duties the proven combination of a full length Phylon midsole and Zoom Air was used with a rubber outsole.

Nike SB Zoom Tre "Safari"

A year after its initial release, the model got the Safari treatment. When Tinker created the Air Safari it was a runner that was functional but also had a touch of class added to it. The inspiration for the model was an ostrich leather couch. That look was transferred to the Zoom Tre with lots of cues from the original from the tan and black body to Safari print and orange accenting. Adding small hits of blue on the Swoosh and tongue logo brought the look to completion. Will Nike SB ever retro the Zoom Tre? Who knows, but if they do this is one colorway we would want to see return.

The 100 Best Nike SBs of All Time

11 years and counting.

nike sb zoom tre safari

Nike was once one of the most hated brands in skateboarding. The fear of "corporate" taking over in a world where everyone has a "stick-it-to-the-man" mentality was overwhelming in 2002. What Nike SB has done for the sport of skateboarding since, though, is immeasurable. You could argue that it's become more commercialized but try telling that to rebellious skaters like Eric Koston, who is now living much more comfortably than he was 10 years ago. And that means he gets to skate more, which is good for him and even better for the rest of us who look on as fans. The Nike SB roster has changed drastically over the years but with people like P-Rod and Stefan Janoski leading the team for nearly half its existence, sneakerheads and skaters have reaped the benefits. Now with Nike SB jumping on board as a lead sponsor of Street League, they're doing even more to support skateboarding. With tomorrow being Go Skateboarding Day, we take a look at The 100 Best Nike SBs of All Time and remind you of two things, wear your kicks and #skateeverydamnday!

100. 8Five2 x Nike SB Janoski "Velcro"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 Sure, they look like something that should be worn primarily in nursing homes and hospitals, but that's what makes them so awesome. Besides, who has the time and the patience to deal with shoelaces nowadays? All white except for the tan lining at the heel - perfection.

99. Nike Zoom URL "Midnight Navy"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 One of the first new silhouettes from Nike SB was the Zoom URL. It featured a smooth and sleek look that seemed more fitting for a night on the town than a night spent kick-pushing around it. Maybe that's why the silhouette went away so quick but it wasn't without a couple of solid colorways. The Midnight Navy and black combination with the gum bottom would be a color option we'd cop a second time.

98. Supreme Nike SB 94

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2010 Not your usual Supreme collab, the SB 94 was an entirely new silhouette dreamed up by Supreme and Nike SB. Using design elements from classic basketball shoes, it was also the first skate shoe to feature Foamposite paneling.

97. Nike Delta Force SB "Aegean Blue"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 The Delta Force was a seemingly odd choice for Nike SB - there's no reason they couldn't have used the Air Force II instead. Then again, the Delta Force is a simpler silhouette, lacking the plastic external heel counter of its big brother, and the Zoom insole made the lack of Air a non-issue. This first colorway was amazing.

96. Nike SB Zoom Abington "College Orange/Chalk"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 The Abington is another Nike SB silhouette that had only a short run with skateboarding. Probably because even with extra cushioning and numerous low-key collaborations, the silhouette is better suited for soccer than skating. That said, the College Orange and Chalk colorway had it looking sharp. Too bad that layered toebox wouldn't do you much help with kick flips.

95. Nike SB Dunk Low "Black Pack"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Every skate shoe worth anything should come out in an all-black colorway with a gum sole. We're not sure who did it first, although Etnies and eS did it with the Vallely and the Sal 23 respectively. These Dunks are basic, but sometimes that's best.

94. Nike SB Air Trainer 1 "Paul Brown"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 Nothing crazy here, just the classic Air Trainer 1 delivered in a muted palette of browns and blues in full-grain leather. What, you thought the Air Trainer 1 was only good for tennis and weightlifting and basketball and...

93. Nike SB Dunk Low "Boca Jr"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 As if the Zoom FC soccer tributes weren't enough, Nike plastered futbol-themed colorways on Dunks as well. The blue and yellow Boca Juniors paid homage to the classic Brazilian side, but they also just looked awesome.

92. Nike SB Dunk Low "Red Lobster"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 Designed by Weekly Drops Rob Heppler in conjunction with Concepts, this shoe takes inspiration from one of the most-eaten foods in the New England state – the lobster. And not just the lobster itself but the consumption of the shelled seafood. Later on Nike dropped two more colorways with a similiar theme, a yellow and a blue pair.

91. Nike SB Dunk High "Tweed"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 This Dunk did something a little different. It bleneded suede and tweed onto the shoe's upper. Wasn't popular at first, but these would make a dope addition to any collection. Also the tweed was very breathable which was the shoes ventilation system.

90. Nike SB Dunk Low "Red Hemp"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 This shoe is a part of the Hemp Pack which consisted of two more colorways - Blue and Green. The sneaker consisted of a full hemp upper and meshes well with the red inner lining, heel tab, Nike Swoosh, lace, and outsole. The sneaker also featured a gum midsole that trademarked the Hemp Pack

89. Nike SB Team Edition "Grey/Purple"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Just your basic garden variety Team SB, but the suede was buttery and the grey and purple combo just flat-out worked. Not "limited," but people copped like they were.

88. Nike SB Dunk High "Un-Lucky"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Released alongide the "Lucky" as a part of the Luck Series this was the easier of the two to get your hands on. Unlike the "Lucky," these are dressed in all black with yellow stitching throughout the shoe. On the side of the shoe it bears the unlucky #13, giving the sneaker it's name. Superstitious? Maybe you should wear these on an elevator and test your luck.

87. Nike SB Blazer "Thrasher"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 For the 25th Anniversary of the skateboarding magazine, Thrasher, Nike put together this shoe to commemorate the milestone. The shoe featured the famous Thrasher logo on the heel and insole. If you know skateboarding, then you know Thrasher Magazine.

86. Nike SB Dunk Low "Space Jam"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2011 Nike always puts out a clean Jordan inspired SB. This one is probably the cleanest to date. With the black patent leather upper and icy translucent outsole, it's an easy resemblance to its Air Jordan XI counterpart.

85. Nike SB Zoom Angus "Doernbecher"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Green Elephant Print? Those Doernbecher kids are always ahead of their time. Drop this colorway on anything today and as Paul Wall would say, you'd have the Internet going nuts.

84. Nike SB Zoom FC "Denim"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Denim may be a recent trend to some but if you were paying attention to Nike SB in 2006 (without getting blinded by all the amazing Dunks, that is), you probably grabbed a pair of these Zoom FCs. If not, well, you're slacking.

83. Nike SB Dunk Low "Premier"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2012 To celebrate ther 11th anniversary and their longstanding relationship with Nike SB, the folks over at Premier put together this Dunk Low that represents where they reside; the Great Lakes and more specifically the western shore of Michigan. Grabbing yourself a pair of these made you a part of their history.

82. Nike SB Dunk Low "Carhartt Shale"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 These Dunks entire upper is made out of a canvas Carhartt material that resembles the traditional workman's boot colors. It's finished with a peanut butter color-like midsole and black out sole. These come with a pair of brown laces. There is also a black pair, however this colorway is arguably dopest of the two.

81. Nike SB Dunk High "Send Help"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 One of the classic colorways from lead art design Todd Bratrud of Consolidated Skateboards, these are a very beautiful pair of sneakers. to close out the design of the sneaker, the insole also featured a skeleton. These were so popular Consolidated created a "BS Send Help" which featured a banana in place of the Swoosh.

80. Nike SB Dunk Low "High Hair"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Nothing says '80s big hair band like Aqua Net hairspray and that's where the inspiration for this Dunk Low came from. The light colors were dope as is but then SB opted to literally wrap the accent panels in hair net-like material. You can thank NJ Skateshop's Chris Nieratko for these. Rock on.

79. Nike SB Dunk High "Sea Crystal"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 With its full suede build, this shoe was one of the more popular SB highs. A very beautiful and clean ice green colorway, matched with a black Swoosh, laces, and outsole, these sneakers were very hard to keep clean. But as a skater, who really cares about that?

78. Nike SB Blazer "Vanilla Ice"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 Part of the "Fallen Heroes" Pack, the Vanilla Ice's design is based of his album "To The Extreme". Most of us know his downfall but if you don't take the time to look up "Ice, Ice Baby" and we will wait right here until you get back, cool?

77. Nike SB Zoom Tre "Safari"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 Who doesn't love Safari colorways? When done in the original color combination, Safari inspired colorways are hard to screw up and the skate-ready exterior of the Zoom Tre made this a perfect shoe for urban expeditions.

76. Nike SB Challenge Court "Black/Purple"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2012 After a cream-colored Challenge Court appeared wearing the SB moniker (complete with John McEnroe's blessing), it was clear the silhouette was going to be a regular at the local skate shop. Nike SB couldn't have created a smoother colorway and the suede was impressively soft. These seemed to disappear from shelves the way SB Dunks do. Props if you grabbed a pair.

75. Nike SB Zoom FC "Doernbecher" (Pink)

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Ten years ago pink wasn't a thing and neither were Doernbecher collabs. In fact, the Zoom FC was one of the first sneakers to be a part of what we now know as the Doernbecher Freestyle collection. If these dropped today, resellers would be lining up!

74. Three Squares Studio x Nike SB Stefan Janoski "Lemon Twist"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 The very popular silhouette of the Janoski gets a "Lemon Twist" as it teams up with New York-based hair studio and art gallery Three Squares Studio. Volt was used heavily by Nike the past year and gives this shoe a bold look, the boldest to have touched this silhouette

73. Nike SB Blazer "Motorcycle Jacket"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 This beaut is a collab between Nike SB and skate legends Lance Mountain and Craig Stecyk. The shoe featured a premium leather base and sat on a white midsole. But what gave this sneaker character was its plush, diamond cut inner-linning which was said to be found on the inside of motorcycle jackets.

72. Nike SB Zoom Tre "Grey/Neon"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 The classic Air Max 95 colorway has never looked better on a skate shoe. The Nike SB Zoom Tre wrapped in shades of grey and then accented with Neon Yellow is one of the best usages of another colorway we've seen. If these ever retro, we're calling dibs on this colorway now.

71. Nike SB Dunk High "Papa Bear"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Part of the 3 Bear Pack which featured a Mid and Low (Momma and Baby Bear respectively), Papa Bear featured fur on the toe box, quarter panels, and around the heel of the shoe. Also on the insole was a picture of Papa Bear himself. Nice touch Nike.

70. Nike SB Dunk High "Skunk"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2010 Aptly named the Skunk, these Dunk Highs were released on 4-20. Get it now? Blending different greens and purples like a grinder, this is probably the best herb themed sneakers to date. Another packed joint by Todd Barturd, these had sneaker fans rolling up to their local sneaker shops to get their hands on these.

69. Nike SB Dunk Low "Slam City"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 A Euro-exclusive these were sold at Slam City Skates as a limited release. The tongue features an illustration of jesus a map on the insole. Also when these were worn down the upper changes colors. Despite the odd colors this one is definitely one of the more popular SBs to release.

68. Nike SB Dunk Low "Hunter"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Another popular sneaker from the mind of Reese Forbes, it's easy to see where the sneaker gains it's inspiration. The safety vest-like orange and forest camouflage uppers makes this one a head-turner. The shoe also contains burlap that is found on the heel, side panel, and toe. Great thing about the material is it's ability to hide creasing.

67. Nike SB Free Rod

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 A bizarre one-off never meant to see a skateboard, the Free Rod combined Nike's then-new "Free" sole with the upper of the P-Rod II. The rainbow suede construction made it a standout even aside from the tech.

66. Supreme x Nike SB Classic Tennis

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 While not held in the same high regard as Supreme's Dunk collabs, their most recent SB flip is still classic. Er, so to speak. The Volt colorway never fails to please, and the mix of textures was most welcome, as was the 3M strip up the heel. Attention to detail is what separates Supreme's SBs from the rest.

65. Nike SB Janoski "Camo"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2012 You can never go wrong with camo. When the Iguana camo colorway released the Nike SB Janoski was one of the most sought after sneakers in the game. This colorway was on damn near everyone's cop list.

64. Nike SB Blazer "Mission"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 San Francisco is one of the skateboarding meccas and nothing represents The City better than a black and orange colorway and some branding that pays tribute to "The Mission."

63. Nike SB Dunk High "Black Melvins"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Design based off the legendary noise band with the same name, the black Melvins is arguably the better colorway of the two produced; the other being a white-based canvas colorway. The shoe features a black leather upper with graffiti-style writings and pictures, while the toe box features a skull and crossbones. Rock on.

62. Nike SB Dunk Low "Hawaii"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 The colorway for this masterpiece drew inspiration from the volcanos of the island. They captured the colors of a volcanic erruption and featured a saying from Lu Pele, Goddess of the Volcano. The national flag is also featured on the side panel of the shoe.

61. Nike SB Koston 2 "Black/Pink"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 Performance packed. The Koston 2 came in lighter than the previous model and designed to be the perfect balance of board feel and cushioning. The Lunar insole and smooth suede uppers helped accomplish that and the black and pink colorway, well, real men wear pink, right?

60. Nike SB Dunk High "Krampus"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2012 Forget the usual Santa stuff - for Christmas, Nike SB paid tribute to the darker theme of the Krampus, "a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries thought to punish children during the Yule season who had misbehaved." Pre-dating Christianity itself, the Krampus myth carries on.

59. Nike SB P-Rod 2 "Hat Rod"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 The second variation of the Tinker Hatfield and Paul Rodriguez partnership took a less conventional approach. Rather than take another Jordan element, a woven upper was combined with premium leather and a satin lining. Black and light blue were chosen for the base colors and golden yellow accents add some pop.

58. Nike SB Dunk High "Lucky"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 As a part of the Luck Series, this Dunk High featured a striking gold upper, with green accents. The more notable part of this sneaker is the #7 stitched on the side giving the sneaker it's name. Feeling lucky, Dunk?

57. Nike SB Janoski "Michael Lau Woodgrain"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2009 Michael Lau is no stranger to collaborations with Nike 'heads. Whether it's his Air Force 1 or these Woodgrain Janoskis, he always has an unforgettable way of tying his art into his sneaker collabs.

56. Nike SB P-Rod II "High"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 It's not often that you see Nike SB make a mid or high top skate shoe outside of the more traditional models like the Dunk and Blazer. The style often seems forced when it does happen but when SB dropped the high version of the P-Rod 2 in 2008, the subtle arrongance of the elephant print on this white and red colorway, pretty much set a new standard for high-top signature skate shoes. The fact that it resembled the second generation Delta Force High didn't hurt either.

55. Nike SB Dunk Low "Newcastle"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 You don't have to be a beer drinker to appreciate the colorway of this SB Dunk. However, if you are, your Newcastle Brown Ale probably tastes even better with the matching kicks that were inspired by the colors of the UK brew.

54. Nike SB Dunk High "Pee Wee Herman"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 As it's known, Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) went to jail for getting a little touchy at a movie theater. With the already controversy Nike SB added this shoe to its "Fallen Heroes Pack" which took iconic controversies and forever immortalized it into a shoe. The shoe matches his suit to the the T, but it's what's on the insole that tells you the whole story.

53. Nike SB Zoom FC "Stand Up Speak Up"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Nike SB jumped on board with the "Stand Up Speak Up" anti-racism campaign in 2006, after a number of incidnets on the pitch that season caused some tension both amongst players and fans. The resulting "Stand Up Speak Up" colorways of the Zoom FC were packaged with wristbands with the slogan embossed. It was a nice touch but the classic black/white and white/black colorways with gum bottoms were firs from the start.

52. Nike SB Dunk High "De La Soul"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Designed by De La Soul and Holy Grail for many, this sneaker both shared elephant print on the toe box and throughout the upper and a reflective hologram on the side panels which were from their Album Cover of "3 Feet High and Rising". There is also a Low Dunk that came as a part of this pack but the High is arguably the better out of the bunch.

51. Nike SB Koston 1 "Blue/Gold"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2011 Eric Koston's move to Nike was one of the biggest stories in recent skate history. It took nearly 2 years for the superstar skater to get his first signature with the Swoosh but it was well worth the wait.

50. Nike SB Dunk Low "Bison"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 All suede Dunks are always classic, even moreso when they're earth toned with a gum sole. But the "Bisons" broke the mold with a "Sport Red" overlay on the toebox - different, but it worked.

49. Nike SB Janoski "Wino"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2012 When photos of the "Wino" Janoskis first started popping up on the web, everyone simply assumed the red marks were meant to be bloodstains. Not quite.

48. Nike Zoom E-Cue "White/Empire"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Believe it or not the Zoom E-Cue may in fact be more often remembered for what's inside of the shoe than its crazy exterior design. The E-Cue featured one of the craziest skate shoe designs with dozens of holes throughout the synthetic shell of an exterior. The insole however was the real hidden gem of the E-Cue with it's built in Zoom Air unit but the White and Empire colorway with the gum bottom made the outside look its best.

47. Nike SB Dunk Low "Cinco De Mayo"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Not only named because the dropped on the May 5th but becauuse they represent the colors off Mexico's flag. Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's heritage and pride. P-Rod skated his way to X-Games gold in these back in 2004, making them one of the most legendary Dunk colorways of all time. P-Rod and Nike Skateboarding have continued to pay tribute to Paul's Mexican heritage with quality releases on an annual basis.

46. Nike SB P-Rod 7

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 Sure, P-Rod has had countless good skate shoes over the years but it's rare that a new skate shoe has quite the potential that the new P-Rod 7 does. The latest P-Rod signature model has a classic feel, perfect aesthetics for collaborating, Lunar technology for cushioning and the red and black colorway is just the beginning. Besides, what other sneaker has Paul Rodriguez talking about collaborating with Jay-Z?

45. Nike SB Dunk Low "Stussy"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Talk about putting the Cherry on top. Robbie Jeffers designed this Stussy SB Dunk Low and after using the colors of a neapolitan ice cream, he added a cherry to the top in the form of the tongue tag. Delicious.

44. Nike SB Zoom Angus "Pabst"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 Long before hipsters made it their beer of choice Nike SB was down with PBR. Pabst inspired Nike SB logo on the heel and the white, red and blue color scheme, Amurrica, fuck yeah!

43. Concepts x Nike SB Dunk High "When Pigs Fly"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 Boston's Concepts is one of the best when it comes to collaborations. The retailer has a handful of gems but they really outdid themselves with the "When Pigs Fly" SB Dunk High. The premium materials, attention to detail, and limited release had a lot of people looking to lace up these pink Dunks on Black Friday.

42. Nike SB Dunk Low "Pushead"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Before he did artwork for the likes of Ministry and Metallica, Brian "Pushead" Schroeder created disturbing graphics for Zorlac Skateboards as well as Thrasher magazine. His Dunk was a full-on project, as he took creative control of everything from the box to the tissue paper. Oh yeah, the shoes were pretty good, too.

41. Supreme x Nike SB Trainer II

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 Once again, Supreme came through with a winning collab in 2007, opting to use the sleeper of SB models, the Nike Trainer II. All four colorways seemed to have the perfect color blocking and mix of suede, canvas, leather and mesh.

40. Nike SB Dunk High "Ferris Bueller"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 Drawing inspration from the iconic movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the colors of represented Beuller's jacket and leopard vest. The perfect pair to go and play hookie with your friends in.

39. Nike SB Dunk High "Brian Anderson"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 San Francisco's Brian Anderson took to the Dunk High with a differnt approach, the "I'm going camping in these" approach, apparently. Camo print mived over the dark army olive green was accented with bright orange, typically used by hunters to keep themselves visible. A gum outsole was just the icing on the cake for these classics.

38. Nike SB P-Rod II x Eric Avar Boot

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 Leave it to Eric Avar to turn the P-Rod II into something entirely different - a tactical assault boot. Same sole, same basic elements, just super-high and with a mix of nylon and leather. #veryrare

37. Nike SB Blazer "Solar Orange/Lance Mountain"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 There's few skaters that you can credit for changing the world. Lance Mountain and the other members of the Bones Brigade are definitely on that short list. Mountain's move to Nike SB brought the veteran skater back to the forefront of skateboarding and he did what any legend would, stayed true to his roots. Mountain used some classic graphics and premium suede on these Solar Orange Blazers and if you were smart, you grabbed the kicks, the deck and other paraphernalia that released with them.

Nike SB Dunk High "Paul Brown"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released: 2002

The first hightop SBs, the "Paul Brown" Dunks were all suede and done up in an outdoorsy combo of brown, green and dark blue. Maybe the production numbers were smaller than some of the others, but these have always been a tough get.

35. Nike SB Dunk Low "Gino"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 Gino Iannucci is pretty much a legend in the skate world and his first SB Dunk that dropped way back in '02 was about as classic skate shoe as you can get. A healthy mix of Obsidian and Black upper with a mix of suede and leather, perforations made it stand out a bit from other Dunks of the time and then Light Graphite accents to finish it off. Well played, Gino.

34. Nike SB Dunk Low "Orange Flash"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 One of the early Nike Skateboarding releases was a series of Dunks. The Flash Orange and black colorway used one of the simplest color schemes you could imagine but somehow it became one of the most sought-after makeups from the early years of SB.

33. Nike SB Dunk High "Hulk"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 Maybe it's because they're somewhat rarely seen (or at least they were in 2003), but all-suede Dunk SB Highs are always bangers. These Todd Jordan designed green monsters were made even better by the addition of a full-grain leather Swoosh.

32. Nike SB Air Trainer 1 "Gold Digger"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 We're not talking about the same Gold Diggers Kanye was rapping about. HUF and Nike SB created this Trainer 1 to pay tribute to San Francisco's heritage and ties with the Gold Rush. Designer Benny Gold killed it with this design and if you're from the Bay Area, these probably sit a lot higher on your list.

31. Nike SB Zoom Eric Koston 1 "Kobe Bryant"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2011 Eric Koston is huge Los Angeles Lakers fan so what better way to get his first signature skate shoe from Nike SB buzzing, than to pull out all the stops. Koston and SB took tooling from the Nike Zoom Kobe VI, all the way down to the Black Mamba-like finish, and dropped one of the rarest SBs ever. These were limited to just 24 pairs and released only in LA at the Nike Vault.

30. Supreme x Nike Delta Force SB

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 These are still slept on somehow, and we don't understand why. The Supreme take on the Delta Force gave them a boot-like feel in three monochrome colors, all featuring a red top eyelet and 3M reflective tongues. Well worth tracking down.

29. Nike SB Janoski "Digi Floral Camo"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2013 Of the 6345364573 colorways of the Janoski to release so far, the Digi Floral Camo model might well be the best. It's not any sort of collab, but it has that feel. Perfect for summer, or any time, really.

28. Nike SB Dunk High "T-19"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Considered one of the cleanest dunks of all time, the T-19 is a street skate team from Japan for which Iwasaki Shingo was the founder of. Shingo was the brains behind this beauty.

27. Nike SB Dunk Low "Jordan Pack"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 This very clean SB was colorblocked based on the Air Jordan 1 "Royal". They also had another nickname, Cookie Monster. We see the resemblance.

26. Nike SB Zoom Tre "McFly"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 You don't really have to be a genius to see why this colorway was th most popular to ever hit the Zoom Tre. Marty McFly's Air Mags were hardly a though in the sneaker community in 2008 but when these dropped and the glo-in-the-dark Swoosh was spotted, suddenly Air Mag inspired was the new thing. Yes, even before the Hyperdunk 2015 was spotted, these were a must.

25. Nike SB Dunk Low "Entourage"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2011 Entourage was the quintessential TV show for the slacker-turned-famous-friend-of-a-film-star wannabes that would rather skate than go to work (takes one to know one, right?). When Nike SB decided to add a gum bottom to the all black upper with subtle Elephant print, the combination is damn near perfect to wear every day. Not many shoes you can really see yourself wearing with anything, to do anything, but the Entourage Dunks are one of them.

24. Nike SB Zoom Air P-Rod II "Grey/Haze/Black"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2007 You can't really go wrong with elephant print and Chicago-esque colors. P-Rod and SB stay winning.

23. Nike SB Dunk High "Unkle"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2008 Nike SB teamed up with music/toy group U.n.k.l.e. and sneaker artist Futura to create this very rare and hard to come by shoe. Most of the upper features Futura's famous artwork - Pointman and Atmos and is definitely a must have amongst sneakerheads.

22. Nike SB Dunk Low "Jedi"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 Jedi or Yoda this shoe was given that nickname because the neon laces that the shoes come with resemble a lightsaber and dressed in the brown and green colors of the wise Jedi Master himself.

21. Nike SB Dunk High "Slayer/Reign in Blood"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2011 Designed by Brooklyn Projects' owner Dom Deluca and Mandee Bence, the "Reign In Blood" Dunk High paid homage to Slayer's 1986 metal masterpiece. The denim, suede and leather Dunk utilized the album cover's palette and was finished off with a gum sole. Perfect.

20. Nike SB Dunk Low "Takashi"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 Takashi Hosokawa picked the colors for this version of the Dunk Low that Nike SB dropped in 2003. The black and gold combination was an instant hit, well, at least as far as things went back in the day. The Takashi Dunks were followed up a number of years later with a silver-accented version with laser detailing but nothing beats the original.

19. Nike SB Dunk Low "Rayguns"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Coming in both home and away varieties, this shoe drew inspiration from the fictional basketball team the Roswell Rayguns. A green body alien with a basketball head holding two guns could be found on the side of the heel, hence the name of the shoe.

18. Nike SB Dunk Low "Medicom"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 This collab was with Japanese toy company, Medicom. These sneakers were very rare because not anyone were able to pick these up. You had to be a member of Medicom to even have a chance to get yourself a pair.

17. Nike SB Dunk Low "Chocolate"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 Created to pay homage to the late Keenan Milton, who passed away in 2001, the Chocolate SBs were a companion piece to the Zoo Yorks. Done up in all suede, they featured cross embroidery at the heel as well as a gum sole.

16. Nike SB Dunk Low "Futura"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 NYC graffiti legend Futura was one of the first to collab with Nike SB. He took one of the simplest color combinations and basically made it legendary.

15. Nike SB Dunk Low "London"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 At 202 pairs made worldwide, you needed a great London connect to get your hands on these. They were supposed to release at London's White Dunk exhibition but the event was scrapped and the shoes were sold at the famous London boutique, Foot Patrol.

14. Nike SB Dunk Low "California"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 It's easy where this pair gains inspiration from. Based on the state flag of California, with the White/Brown/Green/Red colorway and the signature red star below the uppermost lace eyelets of the shoes, Paul Rodriguez later adopted the colorway for his very own signature shoe in 2011.

13. Nike SB P-Rod "J-Rod"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Tinker Hatfield designed this special version of the first Paul Rodriguez signature from Nike SB. The grey colorway and elephant print became known as the "J-Rod," which was a shortened up version of Jordan-edition P-Rod. They even had a Jumpman. These shits are still fetching top dollar.

12. Nike SB Dunk Low "Tokyo

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 One of the rarest releases (202 pairs made) , this was theofficial shoe of the 2004 Tokyo White Dunk Exhibit and were only released through lottery. Epic.

11. Nike SB Dunk Low "Heineken"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 One of the illest SBs to ever drop, this pair was never officially endorsed by Heineken - despite the familiar color combo and the signature star. They even requested eBay users to pull their name from the listings on these. Sheesh.

10. HUF x Nike SB Dunk High "Tie-Dye"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2004 HUF went outside the box and back to the '60s with their design of the Nike SB Dunk High. The former San Francicso based retailer took tie dye from the hippie era and turned it into an instant classic representing The City.

9. Supreme x Nike SB Dunk High

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2003 The ultimate in SB excess. Between the moc croc, the gold stars, the dubrays and the three sets of laces, Supreme's take on the Dunk High was so far over the top that Sly Stallone couldn't see them. The baby blue and orange versions were nice, but the reds killed it.

8. Nike SB Dunk Low "Paris"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 Another SB high on Nike's hype counter, this pair was limited to 202 pairs and was released for the White Dunk: Evolution of an Icon art event in Paris. Each pair was unique and no two pairs were similar.

7. Staple x Nike SB Dunk Low "NYC Pigeon"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 One of the most hype and the most publicized release. 202 pairs released, 30 of which were numbered and released at Staple. Customers that were able to get their hands on this exclusive pair were escorted out the back door with a taxi waiting. Riots and stick up kids were waiting around every corner.

6. Nike SB Dunk Low "Zoo York"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 Zoo York was so major in New York in the early 2000s, from the gear to the team, so it was no surprise that Nike SB (who featured team member Danny Supa) did something. The black and brown dunk featured stencil-style graphics, contrasts between the matte brown and gloss black, as well as a gum outsole. Hard to find then, impossible to find now.

5. Nike SB Dunk Low "Danny Supa"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 New York, New York. Danny Supa's initial Dunk colorway reflected his hometown Mets and Knicks, and were easily the most sought-after of the initial Dunk SB release.

4. Supreme x Nike SB Blazer

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2006 Supreme seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to collaborations. Everything the NYC skate shop touches becomes a resellers dream. The "Quilted" Blazer collab with Nike SB in 2006 saw a trio of colorways take the former basketball-turned-skate-shoe and transform it into something that seemed better suited for the shelves of the Louis Vuitton store. Take your pick of the three, these snakeskin-laden SBs are still the holiest of grails for many.

3. Diamond x Nike SB Dunk Low "Tiffany"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2005 One of the more popular SBs of all time, This shoe was designed by Nicky Diamonds of Diamond Supply Company as a part of the "Team Manager Series". The shoe drew the iconic colors from jewlers, Tiffany & Co. making this pair very luxurious.

2. Nike SB Dunk Low "Reese Forbes Denim"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 Bananas. Denim just wasn't used on shoes that much in 2002, and the frayed and faded variety used on the Forbes was superb. That said, the red outsole was the perfect finishing touch - it didn't make the shoe, but it made it better. If you have these, count yourself as very lucky.

1. Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low "Black Cement"

nike sb zoom tre safari

Year Released : 2002 Maybe elephant print is overused now, but in 2002 it was still a sacred material. Supreme flipped the then-new Dunk SB in classic Air Jordan III style, creating a new classic - and giving birth to the Hypebeast in the process.

The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Approaches A Calming “Pearl White”

Women's exclusive colorway launching Summer 2024.

The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Approaches A Calming “Pearl White”

This post contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers. We may receive compensation when you click on links to those products. The opinions and information provided on this site are original editorial content of Sneaker News.

Although the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 continues to make appearances in new colorways, we wonder if this mid-2000s silhouette is one of the classic models that Nike will choose to pull from shelves. As part of a commitment to innovation and future products, the brass at Nike has chosen to pull back on supply of the Air Force 1 as well as other retro models, and given the Vomero’s admitted over-abundance, it could use a moment’s break from the spotlight.

Still, Nike is offering up impressive takes on the silhouette, like this women’s exclusive “Pearl White” take. Despite the color spec, this pair of Vomeros is more of a lighter linen shade, with a burst of metallic silver appearing on the Swoosh logo at the midfoot. The remainder of the sneaker remains true to the original model, with a fairly standard color-blocking appear across the upper.

Nike will have these available online and at select retailers soon for $160; see the official images ahead.

TOP-11 Moscow Parks to Visit

I have chosen the best 11 Moscow parks to visit and spend a beautiful time for you. Do not miss and choose one that you like the most – cycling, festivals, flowers, panoramic views and many other things are waiting for you!

Gorky Park (The Central Park of Culture and Leisure) – The main one of the Moscow Parks

In my opinion this park could be called the main park of the city. Why? Because of its huge territory, the central location and the amount of people visiting the park daily.  It was founded in 1928 and in 2011 it was totally reconstructed. Now it pleases visitors with modern objects and soft green lawns.

  • Oktybrskaya or Park Kultuty metro station, Krimsky Val, 9

The Gorky park is a the right choice for everyone! The youth will like a free WiFi, bicycles, skateboards and other rentals; the couples will enjoy spending time near the river, watching a sunset; parents will appreciate colorful playgrounds and a room for mother and child. Everyone can find something for themselves: from yoga classes  to watching movies in a cozy summer cinema, from dance classes to volleyball playground. Gorky Park is also the venue for all kinds of exhibitions, festivals, events for children and adults. During the winter there is one of the biggest skating rinks in the park.

Museon Art Park – A Second Gorky they say

“Museon” is located on the opposite side of Krimsky Val street. And right now some people believe that Gorky and Museon together is a one space sharing the same beauty.

  • Oktybrskaya or Park Kultuty metro station, Krimsky Val, 2

The Park of Arts was named this way because there is the largest composition of open-air sculptures in Russia. In its territory there are already more than 1000 unique exhibits: from monuments of the socialist realism era to various kinds of contemporary art. But this is not all the attractions of the park. In recent years, “Museon” has become an important cultural site of the city. The park regularly hold many different concerts, festivals, educational projects in the field of art and design. There is a Central House of the Artist, a comfortable summer cinema and other attractions on territory. Be sure to stroll pedestrian Crimean embankment, which looks like a modern park.

Neskuchny Garden – True Russian Nature is Here

Neskuchny garden is located on the right bank of the Moscow River. Today it is also seen as a part of the Gorky Park. This landscape park is one of the oldest in the city and is protected by the state. Its name was received from the Neskuchnoye Estate of  Prince Trubetskoi which is still located in the park.

  • Leninsky Prospekt metro station, Leninsky Prospect, 30

This park is famous mostly for its location close to the Gorky park. It is a quite place with true nature, lots of trees and squirrels and also ancient architecture. As in every park, there are sports and playgrounds, cafes and even a football field.

Zaryadye Park – 5 Steps Away From The Red Square

The area of this brand new park was opened only in September 2017 and located in the very heart of Moscow – right near the Red Square.

  • Open from 10AM to 10PM
  • Teatralnaya, Okhotnyi ryad, Ploschad Revolutsii

The park has 4 zones, each of them represent different parts of Russian landscapes. Above the river there is a floating bridge from where you get to see one of the best panoramic views on Moscow. Other attractions of the park are 5D cinema where you can take a flight above Moscow, few cafes and restaurants, pretty lakes with fishes and old preserved churches. In addition there is still being built a  philharmonic hall, covered with a huge dome and an Ice cage where the temperature will always stay below zero degrees.

When you are on the Red Square do not miss it!

All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh) – The Soviet Style Moscow Park

Park VDNKh – one of the most famous parks in Moscow. This park is one of the sights of the city as it hasn’t changed much since the Soviet era.

  • VDNKh metro station, Prospect Mira, 119

The symbol of VDNKh is a fountain with 16 women symbolizing the friendship of the nations of the USSR. Around this fountain there are all the pavilions representing 16 republics. Now inside the pavilions you find various shops, cafes and exhibitions. If you go deep inside the park you will find a rocket Vostok and and an aircraft. What is funny the inside of the aircraft there is actually a photo exhibition. Near the northern entrance you there is a famous sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”. It is extremely famous among Russians as all the movies by Mosfilm corporation used to start with the picture of this statue. But if you go further inside the park you will reach a very calm area. A lake is there, forest and birds singing. Since the park occupies a large area I suggest you to rent a bicycle.

Sokolniki Park – A Place For A Hunt Or For Leisure?

The park got its name because of the royal falconry, which took place there in the past when there was a dense forest. (Sokol means a falcon.) In 2011 it was significantly transformed: updated lawns, landscaped ponds and picnic areas, restored summer cinema and theater, a large rose garden, sports grounds, bicycle paths and other things.

  • Sokolniki metro station, Sokolnichesky Val, 1, p. 1

From the main entrance along the alley you can walk to the Sokolniki circle, where 8 alleys form 9 sectors, in each of them you will find trees of the same breed.  The park is famous for its rosary, as well as flower decoration. On the territory of the park there are concert halls, a library, amusement zone, dances zone and many many other attractions. In winter the park has a skating rink (a free of charge one) and ski runs. During the warm season you can rent a bicycle.

Tsaritsino Park – A Different World Inside Moscow

Here you can walk for hours, admiring the most beautiful nature and magnificent architecture.

  • Open from 6AM to 12AM
  • Tsaritsyno metro station, Dolsky, 1

The most amazing part of the park is the lake with a light and musical fountain. Every evening the fountain starts the show. Lights and music combined make you feel like you are not in Moscow but in a fairy tale. The park is also well equipped for sports lovers and healthy lifestyle. There are volleyball and basketball courts, a tennis court, sports facilities for acrobatics, bodybuilding equipment.

What I personally like about this park is the atmosphere. This place is actually far from the city center but I love going there anyway. Whenever I go there I feel like I left Moscow with all its hectic lifestyle. It is the place where I relax, enjoy myself or a company of my friends and feel kind of different. By the way totally suggested for a date!

Kolomenskoye Park – Combination Of Reserve and Architecture

The Kolomenskoye park is actually a Museum-Reserve. It is a former residence of Russian tsars and one of the most scenic places in Moscow.

  • May to September – open from 8AM to 12AM, October to April – from 8AM to 9PM
  • Kolomenskoye metro station, Andropov Ave, 39

Alike with Tsaritsino park Kolomenskoye park has its own special atmosphere with all the architecture, trees, ponds and even a river bank. The park regularly hosts various folk festivals and different fairs. In summer time you can play with kites or rent a bicycle and ride around the huge area of the park.

I love the view that you get on the city from one of the hills near the river. I love the apple trees alleys and the beautiful churches. It is also a bit far from the city center but yet worth going there. One of my best friends even celebrated her wedding there.

Aptekarsky Garden or Botanical garden of the Moscow State University – The Best Botanical Garden in The World

Aptekar in Russian language means a pharmacist so basically it is a pharmacist’s garden. It was founded in 1706 by Peter The Great for growing medicinal plants for the royal family. But later they moved it from under the walls of the Kremlin to the current location.

  • Open from 10AM to 8PM
  • Prospect Mira metro station, Prospekt Mira, 26

In the botanical garden there are no attractions and noisy crowds of tourists. The area of the garden is not as big as any other park in Moscow. And the entrance is not free. But this exactly what makes this park one of the most comfortable in the city. In the Aptekarsky garden they grow thousands of different plants, flowers and trees. Some of the trees are more than 300 years old. They held different festivals there: flowers festivals, sand and ice sculptures expositions.

For me it is one of the most beautiful parks not only in Moscow but in the world. I have never seen so many different flowers and plants anywhere else. And trust me I am a real park lover. And what is more the staff really takes care about every single tree or plant there, some of the trees have names and stories. I love it there and I think the price is really worth what you get.

Victory Park – A Park That Makes Us Remember The War

The park is located on the Poklonnaya Hill and it has one of the world’s largest memorial complexes dedicated to the World War II. The park was opened for the 50th anniversary of the Victory on May 9, 1995. It is also one of the main venues in the city for holding a variety of mass events.

  • Park Pobedy metro station, Brothers Fonchenko, 7

On the main avenue of the park there are with 1418 fountains – exactly as long as the war lasted. Fountains make five water terraces, symbolizing five years of military operations. And in the center of the park there is the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. If you are interested in the history of the war do not miss it. The Poklonnaya Hill is a part of the park and from the hill you get one of the best views on the city of Moscow. And I could say this is the best place for watching the fireworks during the mass celebrations. But be aware it gets too crowded then. As in most of the other big parks you can rent a bicycle or rollers there.

Izmailovsky Park – A Mix of a Big Forest and Attractions

Izmaylovsky Park occupies a huge green territory, making up a large part of the Izmailovo district. The park consists of two parts: Izmaylovsky Park of Culture and Rest and the forest park of Izmailovo. First part is full of attractions and restaurants while the second one is like a real forest with pine trees, birch groves, beautiful clearings and ponds.

  • Izmaylovskaya, Shosse Entuziastov or Partizanskaya metro stations, Izmaylovsky Park

It is easy to spend there a whole day. A large landscaped area and a lot of various entertainments for children and adults will help you not to get bored. An observation wheel, a boat station, children’s playgrounds, a dance floor, sports grounds, a skate park – all this is only a small part of the possible leisure activities. In the park there are bike paths and a rental services.

I don’t go there often to be honest. But the park is very very close whenever to a souvenir market on Partizanskaya metro station. And whenever the weather is nice and I have enough of free time I stroll through the alleys of the park and enjoy the nature. So if you are going to the souvenir market too and you have enough free time then do go to the park too.
