Minor Authorization Form Needed?

So...we're traveling as a large party with my family, my brother in law's family and my in-laws. One of my kids is in the cabin with my in-laws. Do I need a minor authorization form for that child? Would anyone question me if I were to take my child off the ship in port rather than my in-laws? Do I need the form in case my in-laws take my daughter off the ship with them? Confused!

We are taking a 17 year old with us and she has all of her insurance cards but I wondering where I find a form that I can authorize medical care and take her out of the country. What has anyone used in the past?

So this is the first that I am hearing about this policy. We are on the Fantasy in October and DS's 23, 15, & 12, are in an 11B and DH and I are in an 8A. This will give us a lot more space. They did not want connecting rooms because they want "the full brother bonding experience". I'm not sure just what that means, but I guess time will tell. Does this mean that DH and I would need to complete this form if we went off ship with the boys and DS 23 was not with us?

SillyInventor said: The form DCL uses is also confusing as it is not consistent. At one point it states "Adult staying in another stateroom" needs the form to accompany the child at debarking, while in the same form als "parent or guardian" is used without the notion whether they are in the same stateroom or not. The form is designed for the situation where the kids are in the stateroom with their parents/guardian and they authorize adults in another stateroom to take the child of the ship. Your situation will be different: your kid will be in the stateroom with someone who is not the parent/guardian and this situation is not literally covered by the form. ...And indeed if it's not an allowed combination the child will be denied debarkation. No exceptions. Click to expand...

lbgraves said: It's actually quite simple. All you need to do is have the adult in the room with the child fill out the bottom half of the form so that the child can disembark the ship in port on their own. Click to expand...
I would have the adult who will be taking the child off the ship keep the form so it is not lost and simply give it to the child to show when they hand over their KTTW card. It won't matter who the child is with then, they will be allowed to disembark. Click to expand...
SillyInventor said: Point is that this bottom half must be filled by the parent or guardian as stated on the form, which is obviously NOT DS23 who is neither parent nor guardian. The form simply doesn't provide the option. Allowing the DS15 and DS12 to disembark on their own does imply that the responsibility for disembarking is with them. If the parental units are ok with that, then this would be a proper solution. No, the form explicitly states it should be returned to Guest Services after completion. Guest services will proces the form in the guest registration system, where the authorization will be added to the KTTW cards of the 18- guests. Bringing the form to the Gangway will not work as the CMs there are not able to process the form and will send you back to guest services. Click to expand...

DS 23 will be the "team lead" for the stateroom at the muster drill and in the unlikely event of a ship's evacuation. This could also mean you will not be assigned to the same life boat as your children. Thanks for the feedback. This is our first cruise, and I never would have thought of that. We are only 4 cabins apart, so I am hoping this will not be the case, but I'll call Disney and see if they can tell me. If not, we would need to change to connecting staterooms. I would not be okay without a guarantee we would all be in the same boat. Thanks again!

Our last cruise (2013) DD was booked in my mother's room, not ours. When we checked in at port we asked about being able to take her off the ship and they did everything on the spot to have mine and DH's photos show up when DD's KTTW card was swiped. I can't remember if we signed a form at the time or not.

lbgraves said: Friends DD met onboard were in connecting rooms with a large family and they were on different sides of the ship for their muster stations. There are threads listing stations for both the classics and the new ships somewhere on this forum. Here is the one for the new ships. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2639344&highlight=muster Click to expand...

The minor authorization and PARENTAL DEBARKATION AUTHORIZATION are 2 different things. The minor authorization form is for minors cruising with their parents. The PARENTAL DEBARKATION AUTHORIZATION allows adults booked in the minor's room to take them ashore and/or allows them to get off the ship without a parent. I use this for my DSs so that they can come and go at CC. It list all teh adults and kids and their room #s. It is at the end of the online check-in process. Literally takes a minute to fill out.
