Not a bad game

This game is pretty fun. It has mechanics other idlers dont really have, which is nice. I like how they do the tower mode and the shared equipment is awesome. Only need a magic def and physical def set and thats shared for everyone! My gripes: - Text/story moves way too fast. I thought I hit something by accident and started completely over, but thats just design. - Starting rewards were wack. This a global grand opening and the celebration rewards were only 10 summons and a bad free unit lol. - You have a bunch of gear that look different, but are exactly identical to each other. Just seems like having three different gears with the exact same stats is a waste. - Difficulty progression was weird. Normally it starts out easy and gradually you slow progression. This was easy and then immediately an almost impossible stage where you get demolished completely. - Few other small complaints but this is long enogh.

Beautiful Graphics, Excellent Gameplay!

I’ve played many gachas in the past, but none have had be so glued to the characters and storyline more than this game. First of all, if you haven’t read the WEBTOON, what’re you doing?! This game truly is a masterpiece that is made just as well as the WEBTOON it is based off of. The art and graphics are beautifully made, and the game has an intricate system of character and team development through weapons, levels, skills, and gacha! This game is crafted in such way that you will always find yourself immersed in it. You’ll almost never find yourself stuck for a long time trying to progress in this game. There are so many different aspects of the game in which you can progress, and you’ll always find a way to have something to do in all the different events and activities this game has to offer. Even if you can’t find a way to get past a certain spot, the community is super friendly and is always willing to give tips and advice to players! This truly is a must-have game!

Great start but incomplete idle game

No enemy stat info, ridiculous jump in difficulty from 1 level difference in enemies, the auto challenge boss randomly stops working because of strong shishu presence, which defeats the purpose of the auto challenge. The daily alternating tower’s difficulty level is absurd haven’t been able to clear any of them with the characters and currency given since launch. The weapons system is unique as you can use it across all members of the team but seems clunky in execution and organization. For example multiple different looking items will have the same stats, this wouldn’t be an issue if they added some cosmetic appearance to the characters but they don’t so I don’t see what time was spent doing that rather then covering stats to the enemies encountered. Seems like an incomplete game especially compared to other idle games it’s going up against like Panilla Saga or NIKKE goddess of victory. I love the Tower of God IP and that’s why I downloaded and even spent a few dollars, but without some quick improvements this game will be deleted soon.

Tower of God: Great Journey is the latest idle RPG by Ngelgames. Not to be confused with Netmarble's upcoming Tower of God: New World. The original webtoon generated 6 billion views , and now inexperienced viewers/readers will finally sample the beautiful Korean manhwa-stylized art in Great Journey. Of course, the game heavily depends on automation, so you'll spend most of your time preparing units to take down the challenging content of Great Journey, which is why we've compiled this handy beginner's guide for what could be one of Android's best games . Then, finally, using our beginner's tips, it's time to put your trusty Android gaming phone to the test and overcome the obstacles awaiting you in the Tower!

How to play Tower of God: Great Journey

Before jumping into Great Journey, keep in mind that it's an idle game where the lack of in-battle control may be jarring at first. Don't stress; this is a typical setup for any idle release.

You can time your Shinsu skills, similar to timing special skills in Priconne and Eversoul. However, this function becomes optional once you've toggled on the auto feature. Furthermore, whether you toggle auto (mode) on/off, your units still operate independently, meaning you can't control your units' skills and attacks in battle.

The gameplay isn't the core focus since the game plays more like an interactive webtoon. So it's best to focus on team preparation and resource collection to clear each floor.

How to recruit more characters in Tower of God: Great Journey

You can't depend on one or two characters to clear the game's content. The gacha system offers three banners, but your first few pulls will likely be on the Regular banner. Once you've acquired a character, quickly slot them into your team (tap Edit Team ) — you can worry about individual power levels later.

Please note that the Regular banner includes a mixture of weapons and characters, naturally making it more challenging to target a specific unit/Ignition weapon.

Re-rolling and what to aim for

If you're looking to optimize your account, you're going to re-roll for a legendary weapon; otherwise, go for a legendary character. Legendary weapons add passive skills that provide a more considerable boost (in combat strength) than acquiring characters without their signature weapons.

How to re-roll in Tower of God: Great Journey

  • Sign in as a guest.
  • Play through the tutorial and tap skip on story cutscenes (where applicable).
  • Claim all gifts with Summon tickets from the Mailbox (you get more from missions and quests clearance rewards).
  • Tap Summon to start your 10-pull on the Regular banner.
  • Tap on the gear icon (option) > Account > Delete Account .
  • Repeat the steps until you land a desirable legendary weapon/unit.

Upgrades and equipment

Gearing up for battle is how you'll guarantee each chapter clears easily. Thankfully, a peculiar system allows multiple units to share the same gear; the early game drops might not suit each unit individually, but it only matters once you start building sets out of higher-tier purple and yellow equipment.

However, leveling up gear is chance-based; each upgrade has a chance to fail or succeed. Therefore, you may need to spend more Gold (than planned) to get lower-level gear up to par.

Tower of Trials

Tower of Trials is a beginner-friendly challenge mode that requires Tower of Trial Keys to climb and repeat floors. Think of this as a daily/weekly activity that costs Stamina; you will need to venture into the Tower of Trials to collect gear/materials for your comrades. Be aware that you need to progress through the story to reach higher floors; for example, you cannot ascend past floor 36 without finishing 3-15 in the story.

You obtain Tower of Trial Keys by completing daily quests, beginner missions, and in-game events or by waiting to receive 1 Key every 72 hours.

Story mode and account level

The story mode is the highlight of Great Journey. But sadly, the content is level locked (the second chapter required account level 15, for example). To bypass these locks, train units at the Rice Pot to accumulate a higher percentage of experience points.

Rice Pot training mode

Rice Pot is the idle training mode you will work to accumulate rewards. You will visit the Rice Pot mode between story chapters to increase your account level, gain Gold and EXP, and more. To face higher-level enemies in this training mode, you must progress through floors/levels, tap on Boss and clear the boss to reach the next floor.

Note : The Boss icon appears after you've defeated all monster waves. You can turn on auto-challenge for bosses, too.

Tower of God: Great Journey continues its epic saga on Android

Even if the idle gameplay is not for everyone, fans of the series will be happy to see a continuation and re-telling of Crunchyroll's Tower of God animated series (covering seasons one and two). Unfortunately, the series barely scratched the surface of the (original) source material, which opens up the game to offer another crack at unveiling its world/story; after all, this might be Slave In Utero's (Tower of God's author) final tale to tell.

But, of course, even the best anime games on Android sometimes neglect borrowing from the source material(s), so why not celebrate the canonical moments while we still can — and who knows, maybe if the popularity of the franchise continues to boom then it may persuade Crunchyroll to keep the grand saga going (in televised form).

Tower of God: Great Journey Beginners Guide and Tips

Who will be crowned.

Tower of God: Great Journey cover, Tower of God: Great Journey redeem codes, Tower of God: Great Journey Reroll guide

Tower of God: Great Journey is an RPG genre game developed by NGELGAMES with a background in a webtoon comic entitled Tower of God. Like a tower, this game has a kind of floor or level where each level has a different boss and the higher the level, the more difficult it will be to face. To complete the floor, you need to understand a few things about the basics of this game so that it’s easy to play. In this Tower of God: Great Journey Beginners Guide, I will do a detailed walkthrough of the game, and explain the basics with additional tips and tricks.

For starters, I’ve come up with plenty of guides that you can refer to. If you are just starting with Tower of God: Great Journey, I have guides for best character choices, for which refer to my Reroll guide and Character Tier List articles. For freebies, the Redeem Codes guide is here to help you. For details from the makers, the customer support guide will help you.

Introducing the Basics of Tower of God: Great Journey

Understanding rice pot training.

There is a difference when it comes to floors in this game. When you are in the lobby and your character automatically fights continuously, then it’s called Rice Pot Training . In Rice Pot Training, you are required to reach higher floors and there are stages.

Tower of God Great Journey Beginners Guide

In order to complete the floor, there are 5 stages where each stage you have to defeat a specified number of monsters, and when you reach the 5th stage , you can fight the boss. Here, in this Rice Pot Training, you can deploy 5 characters in your team along with the fate you have.

Tower of God Great Journey Beginners Guide

Then there is also the story, as the name implies, here you will have a battle interspersed with a storyline that matches the Webtoon Tower of God . Just like Rice Pot Training, there are 5 stages that need to be completed first, but the difference is that the number of deploy characters is only 4. Here you can use the Auto feature to make it easier to run the surface, so you can see it, without any taps

Team Cohesion

There are two kinds of teams that you can manage here, the first for Rice Pot Training with 5 characters and Story with 4 characters . Then you can also use Activate and Passive Fate Skills provided that you already have the fate skills according to the character.

Team Tower of God: Great Journey Beginners Guide

If you are confused about which character you should deploy, then you can just use Auto Assign, and then the game will automatically deploy according to combat power.

There are 4 types available in the challenge , the first is the Tower of Trials which is useful for you to look for some resources by completing each existing floor or stage. Then there are Ranker Wars to do battle with teams from other players and can get daily rewards according to your ranking.

Contents of challenge

Then there is Headon’s Summon which is useful for you to summon or commonly known as rerolling both characters and Ignition Weapons . There is the Administrator’s Trial , here you will fight against a hardcore boss raid which is quite difficult to complete and is only available on certain days, such as the White Armored Eel on Monday, Thursday, and Sunday. There is a Red Armored Eel on Tuesday and Friday. Then there is a Gigantic Sentinel on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Tower of God: Great Journey Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks

Here are some of our tips in the Tower of God: Great Journey Guide to help you newbies kickstart your journey.

1. Increase your Combat Power

So that it’s easy for you to complete both Story, Rice Pot Training, Challenges, and the like, then you need to increase the combat power of your team. However, because the level of each character follows your account level, you can upgrade gear with upgrade stones.

combat power

However, there is a success rate that allows you to fail in terms of upgrading, but if you fail, you will be exchanged for a Flower of Zigena . For gear in this game, it uses a gear division system, so 1 gear can be used for all characters.

combat power

The second is to Transcend, but this requires the Transcend Material of that character, which means you need to have 2 of the same character. Then you can also level up character skills that require a Basic Skill Book and some gold. Then use the Ignition weapon to get Awaken Shinsu Skill or certain effects and don’t forget to upgrade it. But if you use the Legendary Ignition Weapon , then you can activate a special skill, namely Shinsu Skill.

2. Take advantage of the Redeem Codes

redeem codes

Tower of God: Great Journey is a game that is somewhat difficult to reroll because of the few rewards given, especially in terms of Summon Tickets where characters are very important in a team, therefore you can use the available redeem code to get some rewards.

3. Don’t forget to claim your time-based rewards

In this game, resources are important for you in terms of improving in terms of character, gear, and the like. Therefore, here are rewards that can be claimed even if you are not currently opening or playing this game, namely from the accumulated rewards in the Rice Pot .

time-based rewards

There is a maximum time in this feature, the longer the time, the more rewards will be given, such as Gold, EXP, various shards, upgrade stones, gea r, and others.

4. Use the Shinsu Reinforcement

Shinsu Reinforcement is one thing that is quite important to improve your character according to your position such as Fisherman, Light Barrier, Wave Controller, Scout, and Spear Bearer . Here, you have to be smart in managing and choosing which Shinsu to choose because to increase the Shinsoo you need the Flower of Zigena which can be obtained when you fail to upgrade gear.

Shinsu Reinforcement

Therefore, we recommend that you first look at each character’s position in the team. So you can choose a more dominant position on the team. Reinforcement for Shinsu is in the form of ATK, DEF, HP, ACC Debuff, Resist Debuff, Crit, Crit Resist, ACC, and EVA.

5. Follow the path to Ranker

path to ranker Tower of God: Great Journey Beginners Guide

If you are confused about playing this game, then you can follow the Path to Ranker in the Newbie Event , because you will be guided to always make progress after progress, such as reaching certain floors, upgrading gear, leveling up skills, and like. In addition, if you can complete the Beginners Guide on the path to ranker, you will get a Summon Ticket like Legendary or Epic .

Final Thoughts

Tower of God: Great Journey is a game that can be enjoyed by those of you who like stunning animation, especially if you are a follower of the Tower of God webtoon, because there will be no difficulty with the contents here, one of which is the role of each position.

Tower of God Great Journey Tier List

Image of Nenad Grujić

Tower of God: Great Journey is a game based on a popular webcomic. There's a whole roster of characters to put in your team, and we made Tower of God Great Journey tier list to help you choose.

As many gatcha games, Tower of God: Great Journey is partially based on luck. If you pull some characters from the bottom of our tier list, it's good to know how to reroll for a chance for better pull.

Best Characters in Tower of God Great Journey - Tier List

Here's a tier list for Tower of God Great Journey. We graded characters by their power and usefulness in the team. The list is not definite and it might change, depending on the game updates.

All Characters in Tower of God Great Journey, Ranked Best to Worst

One of the best characters in the game. Evan is a support class character, and his range of healing and supporting abilities is enormous. On top of all, he can also deal magic damage.

Albelda is another support character. She specializes in healing her allies, but she can also shield them and speed up cooldown. The only downside of Albelda is that she isn't available at launch.

Sachi Faker

I'm not sure if this guy was based on a famous League of Legends player. Anyway, this character is attacker and can deal massive magic damage and stun to enemies in range. He can also raise the attack value of his teammates.

White Heavenly Mirror Khun

This is a fairly useful character for altering the stats for both friends and foes. She can attack the strongest enemy and heal the weakest ally. Also, she can boost the attack stat for allies, and lower it for foes.

Not much to say about this guy. He's a magic damage user and can whack enemies with elemental damage. His element is lightning, so he can electrocute his foes.

This is a physical damage specialist. Aside from decent physical attacks he doesn't have any special ability. Hence the low rating.

Urek Mazino

A bottom tier character in a real sense. If you see him in your deck, you can go for the reroll. His skills are increasing the defense of allies, dealing physical damage on foes and taunting his targets.
