Isabella Jane Cruise: What We Know About Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman's Daughter

Coming off of the success of their earlier roles in film, Hollywood's heartthrob Tom Cruise and Australia's bombshell Nicole Kidman met on the set of "Days of Thunder" in 1990. The pair displayed a great sense of romantic chemistry on camera but their chemistry carried off camera, resulting in an 11-year-long romance. After getting married the same year they met, the two eventually sought out a life with children. In 1992, Tom and Kidman adopted their first child, Isabella Jane Cruise, and in 1995, they adopted their second child, Connor Antony Cruise.

As any father would, Tom suggested that he made a promise to be the best father figure for his little girl the same day she was born (via  Esquire ). Although many onlookers question his involvement in his children's lives, Tom — along with Kidman — strived to keep their firstborn away from the public, which is a life she seems to prefer. Though Isabella strays away from the limelight, we've gotten to see her grow into quite the spectacle. From relocating to London to owning a clothing line, Isabella Cruise seemingly cultivated a life she could be proud of .

Isabella was adopted after Kidman's traumatic ectopic pregnancy

Born on December 22, 1992, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman adopted Isabella Cruise shortly after her biological mother gave birth to her. According to the "Moulin Rouge!" actor, she knew she wanted to have babies shortly after tying the knot in 1990 (via People ). Unfortunately, her complications with pregnancy made this a difficult task. In an interview with Marie Claire in 2007, Kidman revealed that she had an ectopic pregnancy — a pregnancy that occurs outside of the uterus — at the beginning of her marriage to Tom. "It was incredibly traumatic," she told the publication. "What will be will be. It's in God's hands."

Kidman's sorrow quickly turned to optimism as she began to consider adoption. For her, there was no issue in doing so since she felt like there were no differences between raising a biological child versus an adopted one (via YouTube ). Luckily for Kidman and Tom, this worked out and they were able to hold Isabella the same day she was born. To Kidman, this proved to be a momentous occasion as she felt an instant connection with the newborn. "I look into those eyes and that crazy love happens — it's crazy love because you'll do anything when you have a child. It opens up a part of your heart you didn't even know was there," Kidman said (via the Independent ).

She stayed with her father following his divorce

In 2001, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's decade-long relationship ended. From marrying the same year they met, Kidman revealed that since they were madly in love, their divorce was a "shock to the system" (via E! News ). While it was a hard time for Kidman, the two had to cooperate as co-parents. Following their divorce, Tom and Kidman shared custody of their kids, Isabella and Connor Cruise. Still, Tom ultimately became a full-time parent as the pair decided to live with him in Los Angeles, California instead.

Though she made an effort to see them regularly, she has since suggested that she wouldn't mind them living with her. "They live with Tom, which was their choice. I'd love them to live with us [her and Keith Urban], but what can you do?" Kidman said in 2010 (via the  Daily Mail ). Kidman seemingly didn't want to force the issue as she knew that Isabella and Connor were old enough to decide what was best for them. Kidman revealed that she accepted their living arrangements since she felt like it was her responsibility to let them lead the life they wanted. "My daughter and son, their life is molded by the way I live," she shared (via HuffPost ). "If I wasn't willing to take on that responsibility, I shouldn't have adopted them."

At a young age, she learned how to respond to false rumors very well

Life under megastars like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman can sometimes result in unnecessary attention from the general public. With her father oftentimes on the receiving end of harsh criticism, it can be tiresome reading crude remarks about him and watching it affect his livelihood as a human being. From prying interview questions to misleading rumors, Tom, on many occasions, has also found himself dealing with unnecessary public attention in a poor manner. While he usually tries to make smart decisions regarding his family's image, he suggested that Isabella Cruise is very good at keeping her composure in the face of false rumors.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2008, Tom revealed that if something were to come out that caused Isabella and Connor Cruise to react negatively, he'd reiterate that everything is okay and not to get caught up by what the media says. "They've grown up with that ... I'm sure there's stuff that they don't like ... and you go, 'Okay, that happened, things go wrong, but don't live in it. Don't live in that because today is a new day and there's plenty of tomorrows,'" he said  (via YouTube ). "They're good people, my children. I'm proud of them. ... I don't want them to worry about anything."

She worked as a hairdresser in London

As the daughter of acting megastars, many assumed that Isabella Cruise would follow in her parent's footsteps. Though it would've been fulfilling to carry on their legacy — which Connor Cruise did briefly — Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman encouraged their daughter to follow her own path. As an imaginative child, Tom jokingly stated in an interview that Isabella doesn't seem to have an interest in acting. "I don't know if Bella will be an actress," he said (via the Daily Mail ). "Right now, she says she wants to be a bear when she grows up."

Instead, she decided to venture off into the world of fashion, a passion her ex-stepmom, Katie Holmes, entertained. After briefly working for Holmes' clothing line, Holmes & Yang, Isabella enrolled in Sassoon Academy in London to pursue a career in cosmetology. There, Isabella completed a 12-month diploma course which resulted in her getting a job as a hairdresser. Isabella then attended the prestigious institute, Delamar Academy of Make-Up and Hair — a university that is responsible for several of its graduates becoming hair and make-up artists in the TV and film industry. While she still doesn't show interest in working in front of the camera like her parents, the 30-year-old appeared to have an interest in doing hair and make-up for film.

She allegedly called her mother a 'suppressed person'

Following Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's divorce, rumors began to circulate surrounding Kidman's relationship with Isabella and Connor Cruise. The sporadic nature of their split coincided with Kidman seemingly leaving Scientology — a celebrity-centric religion that garnered a bad reputation for its cult-like practices. From homeschooling to being under heavy supervision, many believe that the cause for Kidman's absence from the Cruise household is rooted in their opposing religious beliefs. 

In an interview with Who Magazine , Kidman stated that while she doesn't share the same beliefs as her children, she still loves them dearly. "They are able to make their own decisions," she told the publication. "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."

An excerpt from Leah Remini's memoir  "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology" suggested that Isabella was not on good terms with her mother. In the book, the ex-Scientologist stated that she started to get close to the two kids when she was heavily involved with the Church of Scientology. Remini questioned the nature of Isabella and Connor's relationship with their mother. One day, the "King of Queens" star asked them if they visit their mother frequently. According to Remini, Isabella replied: "Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f***ing SP [Suppressed Person]" (via Us Weekly ). Within the church, a "suppressed person" is a label used to describe anyone who opposes Scientology.

She didn't invite her parents to her wedding in 2015

Alongside her professional pursuits, Isabella Cruise seemingly built a life in London worth staying for. Although her family resides in the United States, Isabella prefers a secluded life away from intrusive photographers capturing every second of her life. In 2015, Isabella quietly got married to British I.T. consultant, Max Parker. With publications confirming the news one month after it occurred, Isabella opted for a small ceremony with only a few in attendance. Surprisingly enough, not even her parents got an invite for this momentous occasion.

The small ceremony was held at the Dorchester Hotel in London, with her parents nowhere to be found. While this stirred up questions regarding her relationship with her parents, reports state that Tom Cruise paid for the event — suggesting that he approved of the marriage. As for Nicole Kidman, she reportedly didn't know about the wedding, to begin with. Sources claim that the wedding was "Scientology-themed," which could explain the reason for her absence. 

Though we're sure Tom and Kidman are happy for Isabella, it raised further questions that the public wanted answers to. In one interview, Isabella attempted to put those rumors to rest saying that she's still in touch with her parents, despite their absence from her wedding. "Of course we talk," she stated (via Hello! ). "They're my parents!"

Isabella is a certified auditor within the Church of Scientology

According to Leah Remini, Isabella Cruise's childhood heavily revolved around Scientology thanks to her father. Through this, she, Connor Cruise, and even Suri Cruise experienced years of homeschooling, Scientology-based camps, and heavy surveillance under the Church of Scientology. Despite Nicole Kidman's opposing views on the celebrity-centric religion, Isabella held on to her beliefs as she grew up. So much so, that she eventually became a certified auditor within the Church of Scientology (via People ). In Scientology, auditors are higher-ups who help others through their self-examination process — ultimately guiding them as they convert to their religious lifestyle. Given the list of responsibilities bestowed on auditors, there need to be preparations in place for those seeking the position. 

According to Isabella's testimonial, she revealed that after a string of tests, she finally became an auditor. In her testimonial, she expressed her gratitude toward her father, her aunt (Catherine Cass Mapother), and the church for encouraging her to finish the training. "It turned out it was exactly what I needed," she stated (via Tony Ortega ). "I dragged out the testing and correction, just made it through the drilling and then finally began my auditing adventure, and wow, I wasn't prepared. This is what I had been searching for. The missing piece."

She named her clothing line after her mother

While Connor Cruise has multiple passions ranging from music to competitive fishing, a quick peek at Isabella Cruise's Instagram will show you that she's a person of many interests as well. Though her venture as a hairdresser seemed to be her calling, Isabella is not afraid to flex her artistic skills to her string of followers online. Aside from the occasional selfie, Isabella's feed is flooded with several dark conceptual pieces mixed with portraits of public figures, like Guy Fieri. Isabella, however, used her background in fashion to capitalize on her artistic vision. 

In 2018, Isabella flexed her creative muscles when she launched a clothing line named,  Bella Kidman Cruise . From T-shirts to tote bags, her online store has a wide range of self-made designs available for purchase. Aside from the incredible business venture, fans have grown aware of the fact that Isabella named the company after her mother, Nicole Kidman. Not only did Isabella pay homage to her mom with one of her designs that read  "Protect your mother and she'll protect you," but she also posted a portrait of the "Big Little Lies" actor in 2020 (via Instagram ). In an interview with Entertainment Tonight , Kidman expressed her love for this creative project, stating: "I think it's such a great way to express [yourself] and Bella is a beautiful drawer as well. She's always been able to draw."

She was a contributing artist for an art exhibit hosted by Courtney Love

September 17th, 2021, marked the 30th anniversary of Hole's debut album, "Pretty on the Inside." Coming from a punk influence, the band sought to tackle a range of topics regarding self-confidence, religion, parental neglect, and most importantly, women's rights. Paired with intentional anarchic-like instrumentation, this was the band's first major success — selling over 200,000 copies in the United States. To celebrate the monumental milestone, lead singer, Courtney Love, arranged a philanthropic event at Parliament Tattoo in London in October in hopes to support Treasure Foundation and Clean Break Women's Charities — both of which are organizations that represent similar values to their album was built around.

Through this, Courtney Love invited several artists to donate their work. As an artist who resides in London, Isabella Cruise participated in the event. In light of the news, Isabella announced her involvement in the art exhibition and expressed her gratitude on Instagram . "Is this real life?" she wrote. "I am beyond excited to be taking part in this exhibition with the incredible Courtney Love and Parliament Tattoo, to celebrate 30 years of Hole's Pretty on the Inside. All for charity. What a dream."

She's seemingly not close with Suri Cruise

Tom Cruise started dating Katie Holmes  in 2005. With Isabella Cruise living with him at the time, Tom had to be cautious of how she and her brother, Connor Cruise, perceived his potential love interest. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tom revealed how they quickly embraced Holmes because of her love for sweets. From there, the two were more than happy to make her a part of their household — which made breaking the news about their baby sister a lot easier. On April 18, 2006, Suri Cruise was born, and according to the "Mission: Impossible" actor, they were extremely welcoming to their half-sister. "They were really excited about it," he told Winfrey (via YouTube ). "It was that whole thing of having a little sister. "

While Isabella had a close relationship with Suri following her birth, another nasty divorce reared its ugly head. According to Connor's  Instagram page , Isabella apparently maintained a strong connection with her brother since the divorce but left Suri out of their appreciation posts for each other. Considering that 2010 was the last time Isabella made a public outing with Suri, Holmes' sudden departure from the Cruise household potentially strained Isabella's relationship with her half-sister. Since the kids lead private lives, it's difficult to determine the status of their relationship. It's safe to assume, however, that Isabella and Suri aren't as close as they were when they were children.

Isabella is reportedly rebuilding her relationship with her mother

Following her parents' divorce, it seemed as though Isabella Cruise's relationship with Nicole Kidman was nonexistent. While divorce is hard for all parties involved, a string of events that occurred after their split made us believe that the Cruise kids were not on good terms with their mother. In 2012, Isabella revealed that they were still in touch, stating: "I love mom. She's my mom. She's great. I see her sometimes and I speak to her" (via the  Daily Mail ). However, in 2018, fans speculated that Kidman's relationship with Isabella and her brother grew sour since she left them out of her speech after winning an Emmy — even though she mentioned her other kids, Sunday and Faith Urban.

In addition to naming her clothing business after her, it seems that Isabella is taking the necessary steps to rebuild her relationship with her mother. According to RadarOnline , an insider told the publication that despite their prior differences, Isabella and Kidman are making an effort in improving their mother-and-daughter connection. "Bella and Nicole have really grown closer over the past few months," the insider stated. "They're both focusing on moving forward with their relationship." Although we're sure they never stopped loving one another, it is heartwarming to see the two mend their broken bond.

In a September 2013 deposition for the case, the Hollywood mega-star explained his objections to reports by In Touch that said he had cut ties with a then-7-year-old Suri after Holmes divorced him in 2012. He took issue with the publication claiming that he, a top celebrity member of Scientology, had chosen the church over his daughter “for good.”

“‘Abandoned by Daddy,'” Cruise said angrily in the deposition, referring to the headline of the story. “I mean, come on, that is absolutely disgusting. That is absolutely disgusting.”

But as Queen Elizabeth II once famously said about “recollections,” definitions of “abandonment” also may vary in this situation. In a report this week, The Sun quoted insiders who said that Cruise has not seen his daughter in 11 years.

Allegations of “abandonment” returned last weekend as Cruise let himself be photographed at one of Taylor Swift’s sold-out “Eras Tour” performances at Wembley Stadium in London. The “Top Gun” actor was seen exchanging friendship bracelets, hanging out with NFL star Travis Kelce and dancing to Swift’s music in the VIP seats.

But the night before, Cruise very publicly missed a major milestone in Suri’s life: her graduation from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City.

Cruise’s absence from Suri’s graduation made headlines. And then came more headlines about the 18-year-old dropping her father’s surname for the ceremony. She instead used the name “Siri Noelle.”

Sources told Page Six that the new name was a tribute to her mother. Noelle is Katie Holmes’ middle name, and Holmes has essentially raised Suri as a single parent in New York City since her divorce from Cruise.

It’s not clear whether Suri has gone to court to make the name change official, Page Six said. A source told the publication that Suri dropped her father’s surname because she wants her “own identity” and to “start fresh at college.”

But Suri’s new name choice also could be seen as a rebuke of her famous father — a sign that she has, in her way, abandoned him.

Tony Ortega, a journalist who covers Scientology, called Cruise out this week for “abandonment,” following reports about the actor going to Swift’s concert but not his daughter’s graduation. In an email newsletter for his Underground Bunker newsletter, Ortega said that choices Cruise has made over the past 12 years show that his “abandonment” of his daughter is “even worse than most people realize.”

Cruise and Holmes began dating in 2005, became parents to Suri in the spring of 2006 and married later that year in a ceremony at an Italian castle that was  attended by a number of high-profile Scientologists, including church leader David Miscavige.

Early in the marriage, Holmes was very involved in the church, which is said to exert a cult-like control over its members, Ortega said. But her interest in building her life around Scientology teachings cooled over the next six years, Ortega said. As Holmes was raising Suri, she also was getting to know Cruise’s older children, Isabella and Connor, whose mother is Nicole Kidman. Like Holmes, Kidman was initially very involved in the organization, but the Oscar winner’s interest similarly waned before her split from Cruise in 2001.

Isabella and Connor ended up living with Cruise following the divorce, where they were home-schooled and taught that Kidman was a “suppressive person,” or an SP, someone who is viewed as hostile to Scientology, according to a 2012 investigative story by Vanity Fair.

Holmes would have become aware that Scientology’s indoctrination for Suri would begin after her sixth birthday, Ortega reported. It’s no coincidence that Holmes decided to leave Cruise in 2012, around the time Suri turned six, The Sun also reported.

Cruise admitted he “didn’t expect” Holmes to file for divorce; the divorce proceeded quickly with the ex-spouses reaching a settlement within 11 days. The Sun reported that Cruise was granted sole custody of Suri. Under the terms of the settlement, Cruise also was required to pay $400,000 a year to help with her upbringing. There’s been no reporting that Cruise didn’t fulfill this obligation.

Holmes’ decision to leave the marriage, seek primary custody of Suri and enroll their daughter in private school caused “a massive public relations disaster” for Cruise and for Scientology, according to Ortega and Vanity Fair.

Holmes’ actions “would be automatic grounds for disconnection” from the church and Scientology members “if she were married to any other Scientologist,” Vanity Fair reported. But Cruise was given the option to maintain ties with his daughter, because of his celebrity status within the church, according to Ortega and Variety Fair.

To what extent Cruise maintained a relationship with his daughter became the chief source of contention in the actor’s lawsuit against In Touch and its owner, Bauer Publishing, according to The Hollywood Reporter . In his deposition, Cruise said he never “cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.

Cruise acknowledged that he didn’t get to see often since the divorce. He said it was difficult to arrange visits around his film shoots and Holmes’ schedule.

“Certainly what doesn’t change is the love that I have for my daughter, and that I didn’t abandon her emotionally, physically or otherwise,” Cruise said. “And in terms of how I feel about her in terms of the responsibility that I feel towards my child is not—(has) not waned in any way.”

Several weeks after Cruise’s deposition became public, the actor settled his lawsuit with Bauer Publishing in December 2013, the Hollywood Reporter said. Terms of the settlement were not released, but Bauer Publishing released a joint statement with Cruise’s attorneys. The statement said that the publisher “never intended to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter, Suri, and regret if anyone drew that inference from anything they published.”

Since then, there have been multiple reports over the years, saying that Cruise doesn’t see his daughter. The Sun’s report suggested that their visits ended around around 2013.

In his newsletter, Ortega took issue with Cruise’s alleged choice to Suri out of his life, even as he apparently enjoyed an exception in Scientology. Ortega said he could ignore rules that apply to most members, who are told to disconnect from family and friends who are non-believers,  Ortega said.

“Even if Scientology had formally declared Katie to be an enemy, Tom Cruise is not a regular Scientology member,” Ortega said. “He’s a celebrity. And in fact, the most important Scientology celebrity of all time. And as a celebrity, Tom would have the ability to ignore those rules and continue to see both Katie and Suri if he wanted to.”

“But that’s not what happened,” Ortega said. “As the years passed after that 2012 split, it became more and more obvious that Tom had completely cut Katie and Suri out of his life.”

Ortega believes that Cruise in fact chose Scientology over his own daughter, even after the actor denied doing so in 2012. Cruise did so because he’s convinced that the late Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard “is the greatest human being who ever lived” and that Hubbard’s “technology” is the only thing that will “save” this planet, Ortega said.

Cruise would therefore want to maintain his relationship with Scientology, even if it meant not having one with his daughter, Ortega said. But the journalist offered another reason that Cruise cut ties with Suri when he didn’t have to.

In Ortega’s view, Cruise is not an admirable person, not as he’s often portrayed in positive press accounts. Ortega actually used more blunt terms to describe Cruise and insisted that the media is “always too afraid” to call him out.

Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri is going by a new last name.

At her graduation Friday from LaGuardia High School in New York City, the 18-year-old opted to give her name as “Suri Noelle” instead of Suri Cruise; she also used that name earlier this year when she appeared in a high school production of the jukebox musical “Head Over Heels.” Noelle is the middle name of her mother, Katie Holmes.

The “Risky Business” actor appears to have skipped Suri’s graduation weekend to hang out instead Saturday with all the celebs at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in London , where he is filming another “Mission: Impossible” installment.

Holmes and Suri didn’t seem bothered by his absence on graduation day. The mother-daughter duo, perhaps eager to “shake it off,” were seen giggling and taking photos together outside of the graduation venue in celebration of Suri’s achievement.

Suri was born in 2006, just before her parents tied the knot. TomKat stayed together until 2012, when Holmes filed for divorce , but Cruise was plagued by rumors that he had abandoned Suri in the process. In a 2013 defamation lawsuit filed by Cruise against Life & Style and In Touch publisher Bauer Publishing, the “Mission: Impossible” actor said, “The assertion that I ‘abandoned’ Suri after my divorce is patently false. I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.”

Cruise said he and Suri, who was then 6, “spoke on the phone nearly every day” and that he “regularly asked for and received updates concerning her friends and school life.”

Cruise is also the father of Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, whom he adopted with Nicole Kidman when they were married. Last year, he was photographed in public with Bella and Connor, reportedly for the first time in 15 years.

Tom Cruise may be the biggest movie star, but he's also a family man! We've got all the details on Tom Cruise's relationships with his son Connor and daughters Isabella and Suri.

Tom Cruise is an iconic actor, but more importantly, he’s a father. The Top Gun star, who has been married three times , shares two adopted kids — Connor Cruise  and Isabella ‘Bella’ Cruise  — with his ex-wife, Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman . He also has one biological child, a daughter named Suri  with his other ex-wife, Katie Holmes .

Tom lives an extremely private life, despite being a major movie star. While he may hit the occasional red carpet if he has a movie premiering, the actor is rarely photographed anywhere else, or with his kids. Though, he does have a relationship with all three. Tom was most recently seen in a photo in December 2023 with his and Nicole’s children, Connor and Bella, after athlete Derrick Brooks shared a group shot to Instagram .

Isabella Cruise

Tom and Nicole adopted Connor and Isabella during their decade-long marriage in the ’90s. Isabella, who was born on December 22, 1992, took a page out of her father’s book by adopting a lifestyle away from the spotlight, however, she recently resurfaced on her Instagram  with a selfie on August 25, and fans went wild. The new photo came four months after she last shared a photo of her face online, so her followers were elated to see her sharing a new picture of herself.

The London-based artist owns a company with the title of her namesake, “Bella Kidman Cruise,” which sells phone cases, tote bags, and more. As far as her personal life is concerned, Bella married Max Parker , an IT consultant, in an intimate ceremony in London in September of 2015. Neither Bella’s nor Max’s parents attended, which led to speculation that she was estranged from her parents. Though, that was later proven not to be the case .

“Of course [we talk], they’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of sh-t,” Isabella told Daily Mail in March of 2016. When asked if it was hard not to have Tom walk Isabella down the aisle to give her away, Max admitted, “Yeah. It is what it is.” Isabella also has a good relationship with her mother, whose last name is included in her company’s name. And, she’s close with her brother, Connor, which is evidenced by various social media posts.

Isabella caused a slight stir in July 2021 when she and brother Connor both posted a selfie – a rare thing from these private kids – on the same day. Bella’s selfie was taken during the Euro Championship when England took on Denmark. “My face during extra time. Fingers crossed,” she captioned the shot. It clearly worked, as England prevailed. Earlier in the year, Bella posted another selfie – a black and white photo advertising prints in her shop. When Isabella shared a snap in September 2021 , fans thought she looked amazing.

Connor Cruise

Just like his sister, Connor, who was born on January 17, 1995, also enjoys living a private life. Though, he was very much in the spotlight in the past. Connor briefly followed in his parents’ footsteps and starred in two films — 2008’s Seven Pounds and 2012’s Red Dawn remake. The well-accomplished DJ eventually pursued his passion for deep-sea fishing, though, and now spends a lot of time in Clearwater, Florida, as seen on his Instagram page. Connor is very close with his sister, which was further proven by a cute throwback photo he shared to his Instagram in August 2019.

Connor appears to be quite close with his dad, too, as the two were most recently spotted together in October 2019. The father and son bonded over the actor’s love for helicopters, according to People — which reported that Tom took Connor on a chopper in London to show him “some aviation basics.” In 2012, Connor tweeted a black and white baby photo of himself, along with Isabella, in the arms of Tom.

While on a fishing trip in Costa Rica in February 2021, Connor showed off a catch that was almost bigger than him. “ Yellowfin were chewing today ,” he captioned the shot. He became an “ influencer ” in March of that year, launching the @connorsmeatshack IG account with his friend, Kim Joyce . The BBQ-themed account featured Connor’s love of grilling, and the man knows his way around a “rolled cap of ribeye and some lobstah tails,” as he put it . When the summer months rolled around, Connor decided to shave off his hair. “ New face, who dis? ” he captioned a June 8 IG story.

While on an August 2022 fishing trip with friends, Connor showed off his catch – a massive fish he hauled in from the ocean. In his most recent post, Connor revealed that he and his fishing buddies donated a large portion of their catch — “108 pounds of grouper” to be exact — to a charity. “I know it was tough to fit that in the truck but glad the fish was able to go and help those in need of it!!,” he wrote. Overall, Connor is enjoying a life of fishing, grilling, and living in the great outdoors.

Suri Cruise

Following his 2001 divorce from Nicole, Tom went on to marry Katie Holmes in 2006. They welcomed their only biological child, a daughter named Suri, that same year on April 18. Suri made her magazine debut on the October 2006 cover of Vanity Fair with her then-married parents. The accompanying photoshoot showed the family smiling while cuddled up together. Unfortunately, the trio didn’t have a happily ever after. Tom and Katie eventually divorced in 2012, and the actor has rarely been seen out with his daughter since the split. Believe it or not, one of their last photographs together was at Disneyland on January 25, 2012.

Tom’s relationship with Suri is a tumultuous one , multiple sources have expressed to  Hollywood Life . “As challenging as things have become for him and his daughter, he still loves her,” an insider told us in April 2019. “Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie, and he looks forward to repairing their relationship one day,” the source said. Tom and Katie have never spoken publicly about his estranged relationship with Suri. And it’s unclear when the actor and his now teenage daughter last saw one another. Suri resides with her mother in New York City, where she attends school.

While Tom and Suri’s relationship has remained strained, she has continued to have a positive connection with her mother. Suri and Katie are often seen together on the streets of New York City. Suri turned 18 in 2024.

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest stars in the world but, when it comes to his relationships with his three children, very little is known.

Hollywood heavyweight Tom Cruise might be one of the biggest movie stars in the world but, when it comes to his personal life, very little is known about his relationships – especially with his children.

The Golden Globe winner first became a father in 1992 when he and his then-wife Nicole Kidman adopted their daughter Isabella. The former couple’s family grew again in 1995 when they adopted their son, Connor. After the marriage broke down, the Top Gun actor found love again with Katie Holmes and the pair went on to welcome his only biological child, Suri.

While Cruise was photographed frequently with Suri in her early years, sources have claimed he is now estranged from his 17-year-old daughter. As for his older children, mystery has long surrounded their relationships.

Now, after news he has found “love” with Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, the Herald looks at his family dynamics.

Here is everything we know about Tom’s relationships with his children:

Isabella Cruise

Born on December 22, 1992, Isabella – who calls herself Bella Kidman Cruise – was the first child Kidman and Cruise adopted in their decade-long marriage in the 1990s. Her relationship with her father appears to remain intact.

After agreeing to a joint custody agreement with Kidman in 2001 – financial terms and other settlement terms were kept confidential – Isabella and Connor stayed with their father in LA when Kidman returned to Australia and the children quickly became “completely dedicated Scientologists”, according to People magazine.

Now 30, Isabella rarely posts on social media but Page Six reported in 2019 that she wrote in a Scientology newsletter thanking her father “for everything”.

Kidman has not explicitly shared her opinion about her daughter’s relationship with the church but did briefly mention it in a 2018 interview with Who magazine.

“They are adults,” she said of Isabella and Connor at the time. “They are able to make their own decisions.

“They have made choices to be Scientologists and, as a mother, it’s my job to love them. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

Hollywood Life has reported that Bella is now based in London and owns an art company selling phone cases, tote bags and other accessories.

In 2015 she married Max Parker, an IT consultant, in an intimate ceremony that neither Cruise nor Kidman attended, causing widespread speculation that Bella was estranged from them. But the Mirror reported that Cruise knew about the wedding and footed the bill.

Bella later spoke to the Daily Mail , claiming: “Of course [we talk], they’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of sh**.”

While it’s not known exactly how much contact she has with her father, reports suggest they have a good relationship.

She has previously shown support for him on social media by posting the trailer for Top Gun: Maverick and liking a post by Lady Gaga that featured him.

Connor Cruise

Born on January 17, 1995, and adopted the same year, Connor Cruise – much like his sister – appears to enjoy a life away from the spotlight.

Despite seemingly following in his parents’ footsteps earlier in his life when he starred in two films – Seven Pounds in 2008 and the Red Dawn remake in 2012 – Connor later pursued DJing successfully but has since taken a new direction.

Hollywood Life has reported that the 28-year-old spends a lot of time fishing and lives in Clearwater, Florida, which is the main Scientology hub in the US. The Mirror has reported that Connor has become a high-ranking member of the church .

He remains close to his sister and father, though reports suggest he does not have a good relationship with Kidman and did not invite her to his wedding in 2019.

He married Italian-born Silvia Zanchi, a fellow Scientologist who also grew up in the religion, and allegedly “banned” Kidman from the wedding at the request of his father.

Speaking to Radar Online in 2019, a source said, “Tom is behind this and what he wants is as good as law. Tom made the call and Connor followed.”

Adding that Connor “worships the ground his father walks on”, the sources added: “First, Tom would never even consider inviting Nicole to Connor’s wedding because she’s considered a ‘suppressive person’ by the church. And, second, he doesn’t want her there.”

People magazine reported in 2019 that Connor and his father regularly spend time together but public outings are rare. They were spotted the same year flying over London in a helicopter and Cruise showed his son “some aviation basics”.

The trip was a way to promote the Mission Impossible film at the time. However, People reported there was also an annual Scientology gathering that Connor was believed to have attended with his father.

Since then, the two have also been spotted on rare outings together, including at a 2021 basketball game and, most recently, in New York City in July at an event to promote Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning .

Suri Cruise

Earlier this year an insider revealed to Page Six that Cruise was estranged Suri, his daughter with former wife Katie Holmes. However, he still pays child support of US$400,000 (NZ$640,500), which will continue until she is 18.

He is also required to pay for Suri’s expenses, including medical, dental, insurance, education and other extra-curricular costs.

The news doesn’t come as a complete surprise as Cruise revealed in his 2012 defamation case against Bauer Media that his links to Scientology had played a large part in his estrangement from Suri.

When asked if Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology”, he replied, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

“Listen, when there is a divorce, things change,” he told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

After the US$50 million ($80m) lawsuit deposition in 2016, the controversial church was criticised for keeping Cruise and his daughter apart. According to the rules of Scientology, church members are not allowed to associate with non-believers.

Since neither Holmes nor Suri are Scientologists, it has been claimed that Cruise cannot have a relationship with either of them.

“This is his loss, his issue, his problem,” an insider told Page Six at the time. “He must be really brainwashed.”

Sure, we all know who Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are. They’re two of the world’s most famous celebrities, after all. But what about their daughter, Isabella Jane Cruise ?

Shortly before Tom and Nicole divorced in 2001, the famous actors adopted children Isabella and Connor Cruise at a very young age. Isabella is currently 30 years old and lives in England with her husband, IT consultant, Max Parker. The two tied the knot in 2015 and have been living together in London ever since.

Because Isabella — or Bella — lives a much more private life than her famous parents, there is scant insight into her personal life. Much of what is known about her has been derived from interviews or her work as an artist.

We know she lives just outside of London, according to a recent interview with Kidman in Grazia . “You know, she really feels more English,” Kidman said. “We lived there for  Eyes Wide Shut ,  Mission Impossible , and  The Portrait of a Lady . They both had English accents when they were little.”

We also know she shares the same creative genes as her parents, although hers manifests in the form of visual art instead of acting. She launched her own fashion line in 2020 called Bella Kidman Cruise , and in 2021, displayed an exhibition of her work in Los Angeles, according to her Instagram.

In Dec. 2022 we got a rare glimpse at Bella in an Instagram post. It’s only a quick flash of the side of her face, but that’s more than some years combined. It also confirms that she still resides in London.

Nowadays, Bella has pulled back on her involvement on Instagram. Whereas she would post multiple times a month in 2022, by mid-2023 she only posted a handful of times, all of which were uploads of her artwork or shots of picturesque scenery. Her website remains stagnant for the most part, with displays of various T-shirts and art pieces available for purchase.

On Sept. 17, Bella shared a rare selfie on her Instagram Story alongside the caption “What a summer.” In the photo, Bella is wearing a white puff-sleeve crop top with a tiny white bow in the middle of her chest and her signature septum ring nose piercing. Her hair is still dark brunette, with short bangs in the front and long hair past her shoulders in the back.

Does Isabella Jane Cruise practice Scientology?

Yes, like her father, Bella practices Scientology. In 2019, it was revealed that she completed an internship to become an auditor for the Church of Scientology in London, according to the Scientology outlet The Underground Bunker .

Bella’s association with the religion has led to a distant relationship with her mother, who does not practice. Kidman confirmed her daughter’s association with the religious organization when she spoke with Australia’s  Who  magazine in 2018, saying, “They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”

Bella’s relationship with her father, on the other hand, presumably remains in good standing since both are active members of the church. According to the church’s doctrine, active members are not allowed to stay in contact with people who do not believe in the church; such non-believers are designated by Scientology as “SP,” or “suppressive person(s).” This explains why Tom allegedly has an estranged relationship with his other daughter Suri Cruise, per Page Six , with whom he shares with Dawson ‘ s Creek actress and ex-wife Katie Holmes.

Suri Cruise, daughter of actress Katie Holmes and actor Tom Cruise, has officially moved into her dorm at Carnegie Mellon University in Oakland, Daily Mail reported .

Suri, 18, moved in with Holmes’ help over the weekend, according to photos on the Daily Mail site.

Holmes, 45, starred as Joey Potter on “Dawson’s Creek,” and Tom Cruise, 62, has been filming “Mission: Impossible 8 — Dead Reckoning Part 2” after attending the Olympics closing ceremony in Paris, according to the Daily Mail.

Suri is Holmes’ only child and one of Tom Cruise’s three kids. Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Cruise were both adopted by him during his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.

Holmes was married to Tom Cruise from 2006 to 2012, according to Us Weekly .

Tom Cruise has been reportedly estranged from Suri, and she allegedly has no intention of reconnecting with her father, The New Zealand Herald reported . When asked whether Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom replied: “That was one of the assertions, yes,” the Herald said.

As a freshman at Carnegie Mellon, Suri will share a dorm with a roommate, the Daily Mail said, and she will begin classes on Monday, according to the school’s website .

It was revealed that Suri will attend Carnegie Mellon via a TikTok post in May, where she could be seen wearing a sweatshirt from the school. Suri graduated from New York City’s LaGuardia High School, according to CBS News .

In 2023, Holmes told Glamour that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age,” according to People .

As of now, it’s unclear what Suri’s major will be at Carnegie Mellon. However, Holmes told Town & Country magazine that Suri is interested in pursuing a career in fashion or acting.

“Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,” Holmes said to Town & Country. “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”

Tom Cruise is known for a lot of things , but gabbing about his kids isn't one of them.

Naturally that has something to do with the fact that daughter Isabella Cruise , 31, and son Connor Cruise , 29, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman , as well as daughter Suri Cruise , 18, with ex-wife Katie Holmes , are leading relatively private lives—though they can't help being famous-by-association thanks to their movie star parents.

But you can't deny Tom's enigmatic ways, the Mission: Impossible star being so impressively out there—jumping off cliffs, riding motorcycles, sending his friends coconut cake every year—and yet increasingly private.

Though he rhapsodized about fatherhood when all of his children were little, his inclination to share exponentially decreased as the spotlight grew ever brighter (and he notched his third divorce in 2012).

So, any rare sighting of him spending time in public with his now grown children tends to be an event.

Such was the case when Tom was snapped in a group pic that included Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29 , at a Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game last December, though it took months for the Internet to notice the photo on NFL Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks ' Instagram.

"Wow, look who stopped by my office before our @tblightning game tonight! @tomcruise," the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker captioned the Dec. 27 post . "I was a little star struck but played it cool and He said he was too!"

Little did Derrick know he was doing the social media equivalent of lighting a long fuse, classic M:I -style.

It was the first time the actor, who turns 62 on July 3, had been seen with Connor and Isabella at a public event since a 2009 Los Angeles Galaxy game (the three were informally snapped by paparazzi with Suri in Central Park in 2010), though public outings with his son have been a bit more frequent.

As for his youngest child, how much time Tom spends with now-18-year-old Suri has been a subject of speculation ever since he and Katie divorced in 2012 after less than six years of marriage.

And, considering the Carnegie Mellon-bound Suri didn't use her dad's surname in her high school graduation program , which listed her as Suri Noelle...

The speculation continues.

"My whole life I always wanted to be a father," Tom told Vanity Fair for the October 2006 cover story that introduced Suri to the world at 3 months old . "I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them—that I'd never make a promise to my kids that I couldn't keep. I'm not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There's just no way."

While they were together, he and Katie were frequently spotted out with their daughter, and there are countless pap pics of them trying to get from a car into a building and back again to prove it.

But they didn't let the ever-present photographers stop them from living their life: The family went to amusement parks, attended Galaxy games (they were Beverly Hills neighbors with David and Victoria Beckham when the English football star crossed the pond to give soccer a shot in the arm in 2007) and were at the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami Gardens along with then-15-year-old Connor.

But Suri was 6 when Tom and Katie split up. She's lived with her mom in New York for years , while her dad is based in Florida these days when not globetrotting for work—which he so often is.

In the ensuing years, Tom has never gone the route of giving a big interview about fatherhood, or made some other flagrantly public gesture to counter the narrative that they didn't have a relationship.

In a Playboy interview published in June 2012, a month before he and Katie announced they were divorcing , Tom said that, while he preferred not to waste time dealing with the stranger rumors and other swipes at his character that shadowed his wildly successful career, he had his limits .

"You start with a letter saying, 'OK, you know it's not true. Apologize,'" he said. "There is a point with a lot of things when you just go, 'You know what? I don't want to waste my time with this. I'm busy. I'd rather spend this time with my kids and my wife, at home or on our movies, creating a life together. If you have kids, it is the most important thing to create good times."

But, he added, "with certain ones you have to go, 'OK, you crossed a line, and now you have the attention of my lawyers.' When it involves your kids, with these guys you have to go, 'Here's the line, and anytime you cross it…' But there are lots of times when you just have to say, 'Please don't cross that line. Be decent. Let's not do this.'"

And he did push back against what he viewed to be an egregious take, filing a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media's In Touch and Life & Style for reporting in 2012 that he had "abandoned" Suri .

Sitting down for a deposition in the case on Sept. 9, 2013, Tom acknowledged not seeing his child for at least 100 days while filming the action thriller Edge of Tomorrow in London, but denied ever being out of touch.

"You have to work at it," he said, sharing that he called her every day, per court documents obtained by E! News. "I've gotten very good at it. I tell wonderful stories. I also find that, you know, Suri is a very happy child, and confident, and has a good sense of herself."

Tom continued, "Things change and there's different agreements, like in any divorce, where you work out a schedule. It's just a different set of circumstances. It certainly does not mean that I've abandoned my daughter."

The lawsuit was settled that December and dismissed with prejudice, meaning it couldn't be refiled. A spokeswoman for both publications said it was never their intent "to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter, Suri, and regret if anyone drew that inference from anything they published."

And so began the next era of Tom Cruise, silent movie star (so to speak). In work-centric interviews and on the red carpet, he's as charming as ever, but his kids fall into the no-ask zone.

Yet as any person with or without social media knows: Just because it isn't in a photo for the world to see, that doesn't mean it isn't happening. Keep reading for all the details on Tom's family:

Marriage to Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise was in the process of divorcing first wife Mimi Rogers when he met Nicole Kidman making the racing movie Days of Thunder in early 1990. He proposed to the Australian actress once he was officially single and they tied the knot that year on Christmas Eve.

"It was that special connection when you recognize your soul mate," Tom told Vanity Fair in 1994. "She is a person who understands. It was as if a whole new life had started for me."

They announced their divorce in February 2001 with a press release citing the "difficulties inherent of diverging careers which constantly keep them apart." Though it's unclear if Nicole agreed with that rationale.

"I'm starting to understand now [why we broke up]," she told Vanity Fair toward the end of 2002. "At the time I didn't."

Her ex, meanwhile, had told the publication earlier that year, "She knows why, and I know why. She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well. And I think that you just move on. And I don't say that lightly. I don't say that with anything."

Tom and Nicole adopted their eldest child, Isabella , when she was born on Dec. 22, 1992.

Admittedly "scared to death" the first time he changed a diaper, Tom told VF in 1994 that he and Nicole "talked about children from time to time, but there was always the work. But then we went, When is it ever going to be the right time? That's how the conversation started. You're lying in bed at night and you're trying to sleep, so you roll over and you go, What would happen if we had this in our life?... One of the things that Nic and I talk about is that now suddenly we're a family ."

Nicole said they definitely planned on having more kids, whether by birth or adoption, preferably both.

"Isabella was meant for us," she told the magazine. "I think when things come into your life at a certain time you have to take them. It's destiny."

She later revealed to VF in 2007 that they decided to adopt after she lost a pregnancy. "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies," she said. "And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt Bella."

"There's a complicated background to that," she added, "given that I never speak much about many things. One day maybe that story will be told."

Isabella, an artist and graduate of London's Delamar Academy of Make-Up and Hair, lives in England with husband Max Parker .

It raised a few eyebrows when the bride's parents didn't attend the couple's 2015 wedding at the Dorchester hotel in London.

"Of course, they're my parents," she fired back at Daily Mail Online when the newlywed was asked if she spoke to Tom and Nicole. "Anyone who says otherwise is full of s--t."

Moreover, only a few close friends attended and the groom's parents weren't there, either, his mom Beverly Parker telling the Mail they stayed away to avoid "a media circus." Calling the pair "lovely," she said, "I'm very pleased for them both and they're very happy."

Max told the publication that "you could say" his wife had foregone the spotlight, but it was "more of a weird situation for everyone else" than it was for them.

Meanwhile, sources told People that Tom approved of Max, was OK with not being there and he paid for the wedding, while Nicole was just glad her daughter seemed happy.

Connor rounded out the family when he was adopted at birth on Jan. 17, 1995. He's a musician and DJ, and reportedly lives in Miami.

Nicole married Keith Urban in 2006 and they share daughters Sunday Rose , born July 7, 2008, and Faith Margaret , born via gestational surrogate Dec. 28, 2010.

Reflecting on how Connor and Isabella chose to live with their dad after the divorce, she told HELLO! , "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?" (They did attend the Kidman-Urban nuptials in Australia.)

Several years later she acknowledged that both of her older kids were practicing Scientologists, like their father, but—contrary to rumors that religion had driven a wedge between them—that was neither here nor there.

"They are adults," the Oscar winner told Australia's Who in 2018. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."

Talking to Now to Love in 2014, Nicole called Isabella and Connor "generous, kind and hardworking," all "traits that I love to see in my children."

Tom was in a sharing mood when he started dating the Dawson's Creek alum in 2005, boisterously telling Oprah Winfrey and her sofa that he was in love with the actress.

"Here's the thing, you can't think about it in terms of what people are going to do or say," he told MTV News that June of the PR perils of wearing his heart on his sleeve. "It's 'I want to share my life with this woman. This woman is exceptional, she's special, she's extraordinary and I have great respect for her.' The October 2006 cover of Vanity Fair , first revealed on the CBS Evening News Sept. 5, introduced Suri to the world. The portrait by Annie Leibovitz featured the 3-month-old tucked into her dad's leather aviator jacket, an homage to Linda McCartney 's famous shot of Paul McCartney with their baby daughter Mary from his 1970 album McCartney .

"She's a glorious girl," Katie told the magazine. "She's the miracle of our life."

Tom shared that they found the name in a baby book sent to them by friends and just loved it. "We later found out that it meant 'red rose,' and that was just a bonus," he added. "Suri—it was perfect."

The article noted that the family, including Conor and Bella, were all gathered cozily at Tom's house in Telluride (which he sold in 2021 for $39.5 million).

"It's really special to see them holding their little sister," Katie said. "To hear them talk about all of the fun things they are going to do together." Added Tom, "It's very moving to me too. I look at those moments of watching Bella and Connor grow up and you get a sense of what kind of people they are going to be as adults."

Tom's rep told E! News that he "is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children."

The proceedings were settled relatively quickly , with both sides agreeing on Suri living primarily with her mom while her dad got generous visitation rights. Katie started splitting time between New York and L.A. and resettled Suri on the East Coast for school.

Katie filed for divorce in June 2012, her attorney saying in a statement her "primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Tom's rep told E! News that he "is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children."

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now," she told Town & Country in 2017 . "It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there's nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed."

At the same time, she said, "Every day, kids get a little further away from you. That's a positive thing. They should be becoming more independent, but it's heartbreaking."

The Batman Begins actress set about giving her kid the most normal life possible, ferrying her to school and gymnastics like any other Manhattan mom. While the paparazzi never stopped clicking away, Katie shared only a handful of glimpses of Suri on social media over the years. But they also were seen at sporting events and have made many a pilgrimage to Broadway to catch a show.

Suri may not have caught the acting bug yet, but she did sing the cover of "Blue Moon" that opens Alone Together , the rom-com her mom was inspired to write during the pandemic and then also starred in and directed. Suri also provided a vocal for her movie Rare Objects .
