Modest Mouse will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1997 classic, The Lonesome Crowded West , with a North American tour this fall.

Not only will Modest Mouse play the album in its entirety for the first time live, but they also plan to harken back to the original Lonesome Crowded West era by touring once again as a four-piece. The lineup will include original members Isaac Brock and Jeremiah Green, alongside Russell Higbee and Simon O’Connor. 

The Lonesome Crowded West anniversary tour will kick off Nov. 18 at the Wilma Theater in Missoula, Montana, and wrap Dec. 17 at Terminal 5 in New York City. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. local time. Full info is available on Modest Mouse’s website .

Modest Mouse have announced a 25th anniversary tour commemorating their breakthrough 1997 album The Lonesome Crowded West . The lineup on the tour will be a four-piece of Isaac Brock, Jeremiah Green, Russell Higbee, and Simon O’Connor. See the full schedule below.

Modest Mouse last reissued The Lonesome Crowded West in 2014. For the anniversary tour, it’ll get a picture disc pressing that will be available at the anniversary shows. The band’s most recent album is last year’s The Golden Casket , which followed 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves .

Modest Mouse Unveil The Lonesome Crowded West 25th Anniversary Tour

Modest Mouse announced they’ll celebrate the 25th anniversary of their sophomore album,  The Lonesome Crowded West, with a tour across North America this fall. The beloved album is flush with highlights from “Hearts Crooked Brain” to “Trailer Trash” and “Out Of Gas” to “Styrofoam Boots / It’s All Nice on Ice, Alright,” over the years, all the songs off the LP have been rotated their setlists; however, this fall’s tour will mark the first time Modest Mouse will perform the album in its entirety.

The Lonesome Crowded West Tour will kick off on Nov. 18 in Missoula, Mont., and make stops in Los Angeles, Austin, Texas, Nashville, Tenn., Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, Washington D.C. and have a two-night stint in Seattle. They’ll cap off their jaunt with a performance at Terminal 5 in New York City on Dec. 7. See the full tour dates below.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday, September 9 via  Ticketmaster . A pre-sale will precede the public on-sale beginning on Wednesday, September 7th (use code  VENUE ).

In celebration of the tour announcement, Modest Mouse announced they’ll release a limited vinyl disc which can be purchased as a pre-order add-on for each ticket purchased. The vinyl will also be on sale at each of the shows.

Modest Mouse Returning to The Lonesome Crowded West for Anniversary Tour

Let’s all have another Orange Julius. Modest Mouse is dusting off its classic 1997 album, The Lonesome Crowded West, for a tour this fall, celebrating the record’s 25th anniversary. And yes, this is big news for your flannel-wearing, indie-loving friends. Modest Mouse doesn’t tend to play many songs off of LCW these days, even if it’s one of the best albums of the ’90s and a portrait of how weird and ambitious the band was before its breakout years later with songs like “Float On.” (To be fair, it’s still pretty weird and ambitious ; the band’s last album, The Golden Casket , has songs about technological-surveillance conspiracy theories and was made with weird synthesizer experiments .)

To honor its original 1997 album, Modest Mouse will cut down its ever-growing live lineup to a four-piece for the tour, with LCW singer-guitarist Isaac Brock and drummer Jeremiah Green touring alongside bassist Russell Higbee and guitarist Simon O’Connor. There’s no word on whether they’re actually playing the album in full, as the band nearly did for a hometown show in December — save for “Lounge (Closing Time),” which Brock told the crowd they couldn’t fully rehearse because “it’s a fucking hard song.” The 20-date tour (dates below) starts the day of the album’s anniversary, on November 18, in Missoula, Montana, and ends on December 17 in New York. Sadly, that’s still more than two months away, but tickets go on sale on September 9. The years go fast, but the days go so slow.

The band will celebrate two and a half decades since their breakthrough second album arrived in November

Modest Mouse have announced a North American tour celebrating two and a half decades since they released their breakthrough second album, 1997’s ‘The Lonesome Crowded West’.

Kicking off in November, the band will tour as a four-piece on the road, with founding members Isaac Brock and Jeremiah Green joined by Russell Higbee and Simon O’Connor – who joined the band in 2012 and 2021 respectively.

The 20-date tour will begin at the Wilma Theater in Missoula on November 18 and will continue along to Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston and more before wrapping up on December 17 at Terminal 5 in New York. See dates and venues below – tickets go on sale this Friday (September 9) at 10am local time.

For the tour, Modest Mouse are reissuing ‘The Lonesome Crowded West’ as a picture disc. That pressing will be available at shows on the tour. The album was last reissued back in 2014 through Brock’s own label, Glacial Pace.

Modest Mouse have released five more albums in the 25 years since ‘The Lonesome Crowded West’ arrived – including 2000 follow-up ‘The Moon & Antarctica’, 2004’s ‘Good News for People Who Love Bad News’ and 2007’s ‘We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank’. Most recent album ‘ The Golden Casket’ arrived last year, following up 2015’s ‘Strangers to Ourselves’ .

Back in July, while speaking to NME at this year’s Mad Cool festival , the band revealed that they’ve been working on new material , with Brock saying they’ve got “seven new songs coming out pretty soon”.

Modest Mouse have announced a 2022 North American tour to mark the 25th anniversary of their sophomore album, The Lonesome Crowded West . Though nearly every track from the LP has been rotated through the indie rockers’ setlists, it will mark the first time that the band has performed it from start to finish.

“The Lonesome Crowded West Tour” kicks off on November 18th in Missoula, Montana. The jaunt will also feature a two-night stand in Seattle and stops in cities including Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, DC before wrapping on December 17th in New York City. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday, September 9th via Ticketmaster . A pre-sale will precede the public on-sale beginning on Wednesday, September 7th (use code VENUE ).

Back in December, Modest Mouse nearly performed  The Lonesome Crowded West in its entirety at a Seattle benefit . As singer Isaac Brock explained, they skipped “Lounge” because he had to make the drive himself, and “it’s a fucking hard song.”

In July,  Consequence sat down with Modest Mouse ahead of their set at Mad Cool Festival 2022 for an interview in which Brock teased “a seven or eight song EP” which is “a companion piece” to last year’s The Golden Casket . Before “The Lonesome Crowded West Tour,” Modest Mouse will finish out their remaining September dates with The Cribs; tickets are available for those shows here .

Modest Mouse Announce The Lonesome Crowded West 25th Anniversary Tour

Marking the first time the band has performed their sophomore album from start to finish

Modest Mouse have announced a 2022 North American tour to mark the 25th anniversary of their sophomore album, The Lonesome Crowded West . Though nearly every track from the LP has been rotated through the indie rockers’ setlists, it will mark the first time that the band has performed it from start to finish.

“The Lonesome Crowded West Tour” kicks off on November 18th in Missoula, Montana. The jaunt will also feature a two-night stand in Seattle and stops in cities including Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, DC before wrapping on December 17th in New York City. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday, September 9th via Ticketmaster . A pre-sale will precede the public on-sale beginning on Wednesday, September 7th (use code VENUE ).

Modest Mouse will also be releasing a limited vinyl picture disc available for pre-order as an add-on to each ticket purchased. It will also be on sale at each show. Take a look at the artwork below.

Back in December, Modest Mouse nearly performed  The Lonesome Crowded West in its entirety at a Seattle benefit . As singer Isaac Brock explained, they skipped “Lounge” because he had to make the drive himself, and “it’s a fucking hard song.”

In July,  Consequence sat down with Modest Mouse ahead of their set at Mad Cool Festival 2022 for an interview in which Brock teased “a seven or eight song EP” which is “a companion piece” to last year’s The Golden Casket . Before “The Lonesome Crowded West Tour,” Modest Mouse will finish out their remaining September dates with The Cribs; tickets are available for those shows here .

Modest Mouse Is Hitting The Road On ‘The Lonesome Crowded West Tour’ For The Album’s 25th Anniversary

In the debate of which Modest Mouse album is the best album , there is only one correct answer: The Lonesome Crowded West . Sorry, this is a scientific fact. The 1997 album is the crown jewel of Isaac Brock’s indie songwriting with a diverse offering of songs that painted a picture of the stories off the highway stops of the modern American west.

Now Brock and Modest Mouse will be taking The Lonesome Crowded West in its entirety on the road to celebrate the 25th anniversary of it’s release. Just as they did in 1997, Modest Mouse will be playing as a four-piece including Jeremiah Green, as well as Russell Higbee and Simon O’Connor. From album opener “Teeth Like God’s Shoeshine,” to iconic songs like “Cowboy Dan,” “Trailer Trash,” and “Polar Opposites,” the band will play the entire 15-song album front to back at each of these shows beginning on November 18th in Montana. Rest assured, even the midwest and East coast are included on the tour.

Having recently completed a sold out 25th anniversary tour for their breakthrough album, 1997’s The Lonesome Crowded West and played a summer ’23 run with Pixies and Cat Power, Modest Mouse continues to prove themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today. Modest Mouse released their highly anticipated new album, The Golden Casket, on June 25, 2021 via Epic Records. The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s studio in Portland, the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock’s head.
