Luis Arturo Villar Sudek, more commonly known simply by his channel’s name  Luisito Comunica  (Luisito Communicates), is one of the most popular Spanish-speaking YouTubers, with just under 42 million subscribers as of January 2024.

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Luisito’s YouTube channel has taken him all over the world. While Luisito Comunica offers content covering an array of topics, including food, supermarkets and fun challenges, travel is the main theme of this channel .

You could start by checking out Luisito’s video showing  the Wonders of the World  or even this video of him trying to find the best pizza in Rome . Not only will you be able to practice your Spanish, but you’ll also get some great travel tips and destinations, too!

Gris Verduzco is the driving force behind Mis Pastelitos (My Cupcakes).

She has a perfectly adorable little cocina (kitchen) and shares her recipes with the world. So if you’re into baking, get ready to learn more than Spanish . This woman is a whiz in the kitchen where she deals with all things sweet—including a huge gingerbread house and mouth-watering churros .

This vlogger is full of life, with a down-to-earth personality that makes viewers feel as if they’re right in her kitchen with her. Her Spanish is flawless and easy to follow , so while this may primarily be a baking vlog, it will still help you “whip” your Spanish skills into shape!

Alex Tienda is a travel vlogger from Mexico who goes to both ordinary and exotic places.

He’s a musician as well as an airplane pilot, and some of his vlogs bring those facets of his personality into the mix. Armchair travelers, wannabe pilots and anyone just looking to laugh with a guy who’s super friendly will love this channel.

Alex also has an impressive selection of documentaries available on his YouTube channel that form part of individual series.

What makes traveling with Alex Tienda particularly beneficial for Spanish-language learners is his easygoing style. He speaks as if he’s talking with his pals rather than to a camera. Following the conversation might challenge absolute beginners, but you’ll still get the gist of conversation based on the context even if you don’t understand every word.

Listening practice while traveling the globe ? That’s a win-win situation!

Juca is a YouTuber from Mexico who’s totally amusing to watch. From shopping, haircuts, go karts, to customizing autos —there isn’t much this guy won’t do.

His biggest obsession appears to be cars . His knowledge and enthusiasm can get anyone excited about customizing vehicles or general auto repair.

Over 3.4 million viewers have watched Juca’s trip to el supermercado (the supermarket)—which isn’t a dull expedition. He interacts with other shoppers and clerks and actually talks about groceries and cooking as he puts everything in his cart. Vocabulary and conversational skills? Juca delivers on both fronts!

ElrubiusOMG, created by Rubén Doblas Gundersen, is one of the most popular YouTube channels in Spain , with over 40 million subscribers.

Rubén’s followers tune in to see crazy experiments, ridiculous challenges, “do not try this at home” escapades and “what happens in Japan stays in Japan” videos.

And if learning to swear in Spanish is on your to-do list, this is the place for it. This is definitely a channel targeted to mature audiences . Having said that, this guy is off-the-charts hilarious—in a totally unfiltered way.

While this channel is no longer as active as it once was, Rubén regularly posts on his gaming channel, Rubius Z .

With over 27 million subscribers , this channel from Ecuador is wildly popular!

Most videos are comedy sketches or short parodies of life and its silliness. They certainly provide lots of cultural insights in their little dramas, so it’s like a fly-on-the-wall experience into what life in Ecuador might really be like.

Cultural insights, vocabulary-building and listening practice. What’s not to love?

You can find more Spanish learning videos and YouTube channels like Easy Spanish in this post !

Watching Spanish vlogs is like spending time with a good friend—one who speaks fluently and is able to teach while entertaining.

These small (typically between five-30 minutes) clips squeeze into any schedule. They help  build your Spanish vocabulary while providing   listening and speaking practice .

Yes, speaking practice —if you take the time to respond to your vlog amigo (friend) with a video of your own. As adult learners, we need to take advantage of every opportunity to talk!

Many vloggers treat their audience as if they’re right there with them and ask questions or invite those watching to make comments. Respond, in Spanish! It’s fun and definitely ramps up the speaking practice part of your language-learning program.

Another thing to maximize learning is to make a note of words and phrases you don’t immediately recognize . Just jot them down and try to incorporate them into your practice. They can amp up your vocabulary and will come in handy during actual, real-life conversations.

When you find a vlogger who’s simpático (friendly), don’t stop at one vlog. Most vloggers have a ton of content available, so absolutely watch more than one video!

Additionally, immerse yourself further and combine vlog videos with other authentic Spanish videos. The more exposure you get, the more you can reinforce your skills and broaden your understanding of the language. See how much you can pick up the Spanish used in music, interviews, TV show snippets and more.

For a more learner-friendly approach, there’s the language learning program FluentU .

FluentU takes authentic videos—like music videos, movie trailers, news and inspiring talks—and turns them into personalized language learning lessons.

Leer en español: Los mejores youtubers latinoamericanos de viajes para ver en cuarentena

The coronavirus pandemic changed many issues. Therefore, we saw that traveling is currently impossible, in the sense that it is a danger for a person to break the quarantine to explore new territories, since, due to the high possibility of contagions, it can be harmful both to himself and to others.

This can be seen in what the Argentine media Clarín mentions, saying that 96% of the countries in the world imposed restrictions on travel. Therefore, all people who have an adventurous spirit should settle for virtual material from people who have previously traveled.

In this sense, we decided to make a compilation of the best Spanish-speaking YouTubers who have a series of travel-based videos. Most will show different aspects of the experience of discovering something new, whether within a specialized field or not, which is why we invite you to meet them.

Luisito Comunica

Luisito Comunica is one of the main figures on YouTube. His fame transcends the videos, to the point where various media are interested in his personal figure. For example, the TN media comments that the Mexican would be in a relationship with a Venezuelan model, due to different clues that came out on his social networks.

Apart from his private life, the reality is that we are talking about truly popular content. Thanks to his enormous charisma and his ability to investigate, watching Luisito Comunica's videos will make you feel authentically refreshed. You will not only be nourished by foreign cultures but also laugh because of his occurrences.

Alan Around The World

If you're looking for quality content, you're probably interested in what Alan Around the World does. Basically, he is a Mexican YouTuber who travels to exotic destinations.

Through all his videos you will notice that he narrates his experiences in the first person, providing transcendent information in a transparent way as if a friend was telling you. For example, he recommends which sites are good to visit and which ones you shouldn't waste your time on.

We move to a more niche sector. In this case, we are talking about an Argentine hamburger fanatic, who constantly tries to discover the new trends of this culture through different blogs about his experiences in the United States.

Although it is not a strictly travel channel, it does have an excellently produced documentary series, known as Hamburgers, where he traveled with a group of enthusiasts to discover the best American menus, making reviews and commenting on all their impressions. Whether or not they are your favorite dish, it is recommended to see the passion with which they talk about what they love.

Bajoneando por Hay

Although we continue in the field of food, we are not talking here about a specific sector, such as hamburgers, but about a much broader field. The protagonist of this channel is Ramita, who created this channel that shows different gastronomic experiences in different places.

For example, the newspaper El Litoral mentions that prior to the pandemic she had visited the Carnivals of Corrientes to try the typical dishes of the place. The best thing about this channel? The variety of things that she tries, since she does not only eat gourmet meals but also down to earth ones.

Te lo resumo así no más.

Lastly, we are talking about an example well known for his summary videos, but which also has his own travel section. Here we are talking about a channel by the Argentine Jorge Pinarello, which, as mentioned by the website of El Observador de Uruguay, has millions of subscribers from all over Latin America waiting for his videos regularly.

The section, known as "I vlog it like this" shows the experiences of him and his partner during a trip through Europe. There he will take us through different typical places of the most iconic cities, with a very characteristic humorous touch (especially for the raspy tone of his voice), which became essential in his videos, serving in this case to narrate all his stories.

2. Dreaming Spanish

Dreaming Spanish image

According to Pablo - the channel´s creator - studying Spanish does not have to rely on boring grammar lessons. As an alternative, he has developed a series of videos offering an immersive listening experience 100% in Spanish that even absolute beginners can understand.

I n his lessons, he uses the ALG methodology and the Comprehensive Input theory, according to which language learning should come naturally by listening and imitation. Simple drawings, facial gestures, expressive body language, and clear pronunciation help maintain the viewer’s attention and promote better understanding.

T he videos you can find on Dreaming Spanish are conducted either by Pablo personally or by his numerous contributors and divided into four different levels: absolute beginner, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Topic choice is interesting and original (how to make tacos, looking at memes, let’s play Minecraft, etc).

  • 100% in Spanish
  • fully immersive
  • possibility to sort videos by level, topic, or person
  • constantly updated
  • a variety of accents
  • no explanations or subtitles in English might make the videos quite challenging

3. Superholly

Superholly image

  • effective choice of content for A1-B1 students
  • impeccable production quality
  • good balance between entertainment and learning
  • no content for higher proficiency levels

5. Why Not Spanish?

Why Not Spanish? image

Similar to Spanish & Go, this channel is also administered by a bilingual couple - Cody from the US, who is learning Spanish himself, and María - a Spanish teacher from Colombia. They offer a wide array of videos that help practice different aspects of the language. You’ll find quizzes, vocabulary games, listening activities, and even dictation exercises!

B eing a professional teacher, María seems to have a solid background in Spanish grammar and does a great job explaining even the trickiest contents. Judging by how quickly Cody progresses with his Spanish, the videos do work.

M ost lessons are only a few minutes long, which helps ensure good viewer’s concentration and content retention.

D o you worry Maria’s lessons might be boring? Trust me, they aren’t. Their main focus is to show you how to use Spanish rather than torture you with lengthy and confusing explanations. Combining both the teacher’s and the student’s perspectives guarantees that each video is well balanced in terms of its educational value and engagement.

  • lessons hosted by a professional teacher
  • just the right amount of grammar and explanations with tons of examples
  • bite-size video
  • fun quizzes and other language activities
  • focused mainly on beginners and lower intermediates

6. SpanishPod101

SpanishPod101 image

SpanishPod101 is one of the top Spanish learning platforms and their Youtube channel is just as top-notch as the rest of their publications. It features a huge collection of short video lessons for beginners (Spanish in 3 minutes), and also longer recordings for intermediate and advanced students.

W hat else will you find on SpanishPod101 Youtube platform? There’s a lot to pick from: there is the “Spanish word of the day” section, “Spain Spanish words with Rosa”, “Mexican Spanish words with Alex”, “Top 25”, graded listening comprehension videos, and fun facts about typical Spanish holidays and related vocabulary. Even though it might seem a bit chaotic at first, you will quickly find your way across all the content.

C onsidering that SpanishPod101 is a renowned language project, it comes as no surprise that their videos’ quality is excellent in terms of image and sound. As for the methodology, in most recordings, you will hear and read the target expressions or words in English and Spanish, pronounced at a varied pace. At the end of most videos, you’ll learn a fun cultural fact.

Pros:

  • good coverage of Spanish study contents for beginners
  • a big variety of accents to sharpen listening comprehension skills
  • high production quality
  • short videos encourage daily practice
  • the content doesn’t go beyond beginner level
  • ads appearing before each video

7. Rock 'N Learn

Rock 'N Learn image

Rock’n Learn is a well-known American educational brand that has been around since 1987. Their Youtube channel is a comprehensive learning platform that features animated videos for toddlers, preschool, and primary school kids on a variety of subjects: math, phonics, reading, writing, and languages.

T he Spanish section for children features a set of bilingual videos that cover some of the essential vocabulary (colors, numbers, food, activities, animals, body parts, feelings, and other everyday expressions). They are colorful and very easy to follow even for the youngest viewers.

F or teenagers and adults, Rock’n Learn offers a set of 10 beginner lessons based on the same bilingual format: you read and hear a phrase in English, and then you learn how to say it in Spanish.

  • helpful learning tool for Spanish and other basic academic skill
  • colorful, attractive videos for toddlers and kids
  • exclusively translation-based
  • the repetitive format may get boring after a while
  • 30+ minute videos might be too long for the youngest viewers

8. The Spanish Dude

The Spanish Dude image

Let’s start with a clarification: the Spanish dude is actually North American and not Spanish. His name is Jordan and he used to hate Spanish at school. Yet, life turns have made it necessary for him to learn Spanish and he ended up falling in love with this language.

I f you struggle with Spanish just like Jordan once did, you’re bound to appreciate his short and no-nonsense videos packed with learning strategies as well as grammar and vocabulary tips. Jordan knows very well what the trickiest and the most confusing aspects of Spanish are for English speakers, and - through his own learning experience - tries to make them easier for you.

W ho are his videos targeted at? Judging by their content, mainly at basic students of Spanish who are, on the other hand, native or fluent in English (most of the speaking happens in this language).

  • videos made from the creator’s own learning experience
  • fast-paced and dynamic
  • skillfully produced content
  • the host’s Spanish pronunciation is not that great
  • disproportionate use of English vs the actual Spanish content

9. Tu Escuela de Español

Tu Escuela de Español image

This Youtube channel, along with a website under the same name, was created by a Spanish teacher Elena Prieto. As it usually happens with language study materials created by professional teachers, Tu Escuela de Español is full of well-structured and researched grammar and vocabulary videos for basic, intermediate, and advanced students.

I f you are looking for easy-to-understand explanations of grammar contents such as the difference between the verb SER and ESTAR, noun gender, comparisons, and so on, Elena’s videos that resemble simple .ppt presentations will come in very handy. For more advanced students there is a selection of vocabulary-oriented recordings as well as Spain cultural tips.

A ll the contents on “Tu Escuela de Español” channel are in Spanish, with subtitles in this language available (only a small number of videos come with subtitles in English). As great as it is to boost the listening comprehension of B1-C1 students, it might prove a little overwhelming for total beginners.

  • excellent and clear grammar explanations
  • great to practice Spaniard accent
  • useful tips on Spanish customs and traditions
  • lots of information about orthography rules
  • almost exclusively in Spanish, which can be challenging for beginners
  • ads before videos

10. EasySpanish

EasySpanish image

Easy Spanish channel is part of a larger project under the name of Easy Languages, which - among others - includes French, German, English, and Russian. They all share the same concept: learning a foreign language by listening to short street interviews with passersby.

I n the Easy Spanish Youtube channel, you’ll find about 10-minute videos recorded in different places of Latin America and Spain. In each video, the interviewer asks a question to random people he/she encounters on the street. The whole conversation is subtitled both in Spanish and in English. Subscribers are also offered additional practice materials to be sent to their email addresses.

T his unconventional concept of studying a language has lots of advantages: it’s entertaining, engaging, and creative. It shows the viewer what real conversations in Spanish look like, what kind of vocabulary people use in their daily interactions, and how the accent varies from country to country.

  • fun and original approach to learning Spanish
  • good quality of the recordings
  • interesting choice of interview questions and topics
  • great listening comprehension practice
  • a formal summary of the practiced contents at the end of each video would be welcomed

11. Deliberate Spanish

Deliberate Spanish image

Most youtube channels with Spanish learning videos focus on beginners and lower-intermediate students, leaving more advanced ones “unattended”. Deliberate Spanish does the opposite - it is dedicated to all those who need help getting out of “Spanish Intermediate Purgatory” and move on to real proficiency

T he channel has been named after its creator - Nacho (a diminutive form of Ignacio) - a Spaniard living in the US. The videos he posts on Youtube are part of his own language course called “Deliberate Spanish”.

W hat will you find on Deliberate Spanish ? First of all, the channel is a great source of listening practice materials for advanced students - it features a considerable collection of 5 to 20-minute videos in which Nacho introduces complex expressions in Spanish and analyzes them, offering tips on the best ways to work them out.

I f you have time for longer videos, you might want to take a look at the podcasts available in the “Nos vemos en la Comunidad” section of the channel.

  • one of the few Youtube channels with materials for B2-C1 students
  • a balanced mix of  Spanish and English use in the videos
  • useful tips on how to progress from intermediate to advanced
  • entertaining podcast conversations
  • other aspects of advanced Spanish (grammar, reading) could be explored more

12. Maria Español

Maria Español image

Few Youtube Spanish teaching vlogs can praise themselves on such an outstanding collection of study and practice materials as the ones found on Maria Español channel. Just by taking a quick look at the playlists, you’ll immediately notice that the channel is a real treasure for Spanish learners. It features live recorded lessons for different levels, as well as grammar, reading, pronunciation, and vocabulary videos.

M aria herself is a professional teacher of Spanish and appears to be kind and friendly as well as passionate and enthusiastic. Her teaching style is informal yet knowledgeable and her students (as shown in her recorded online lessons) seem very motivated. Could there be a better testimony than that?

  • a big variety of videos and topics
  • access to recorded online classes for free
  • Spanish subtitles available
  • very favorable student and viewer comments
  • could play more with the vlog format and make it more interactive

13. Español con Juan

Español con Juan image

Another excellent YouTube channel to learn Spanish for free is definitely Español con Juan, created and administered by Juan Fernandez - a Spaniard from Granada who works as a teacher of Spanish at the University College London and is quite famous for his book “1001 reasons to learn Spanish”.

W hat is so special about this channel? First of all, Juan does not use any English, as he considers that Spanish should be taught in Spanish. As he says, as long as you can understand about 50-60% of his videos, you can benefit from them and use them to improve your Spanish.

A nother distinctive aspect of Juan’s approach to teaching is the use of storytelling - all of his videos narrate a story especially tailored to explore certain grammar concepts or vocabulary groups. What a refreshing change from boring and repetitive grammar explanations, isn’t it?

W hat’s also great about Juan’s channel is how easy it is to find your way around all the available videos. They are logically ordered in different playlists, which means you can find exactly what you look for in just a couple of seconds. It might seem like an insignificant detail at first but proves extremely important when competing for viewers.

  • lots of useful vocabulary
  • acting and storytelling as a great tool to attract viewers’ attention
  • well-organized content
  • subtitles in Spanish can be turned on when necessary
  • questions could be added at the end of each story to check comprehension

14. Speak Spanish Faster

Speak Spanish Faster image

What a catchy name, isn't it? I imagine anyone who studies Spanish would like to be able to speak it in less time. The channel’s founder - Rocky Rodriguez, a son of Puerto Rican immigrants in the US - claims he knows how to achieve it. He has developed his own strategy, called Rhythmic Reinforcement Training that increases the effectiveness of learning Spanish.

E ven though Speak Spanish Faster is a relatively new channel it is definitely worth spending some time looking around. What you’ll find here are mainly videos with tips and suggestions on how to get the most of your study time. There is also a growing selection of videos explaining some of the most confusing aspects of Spanish grammar (tú vs usted, para vs por, ser vs estar), pronunciation (B vs V, RR) as well as common situational phrases.

D oes Speak Spanish Faster offer a complete language course? No, it doesn’t. But it contains lots of useful information for anyone struggling with Spanish.

  • many interesting tips to try
  • bilingual vlogger
  • beneficial independently on your level
  • lacks sample lessons based on his Rhythmic Reinforcement Training

15. Bilingue Blogs

There is much more to Spanish than just its Spaniard or Mexican version. Ricky from Bilingue Blogs speaks with a wonderful and entirely native-like Dominican accent (in spite of him being from the US) that almost anyone who’s traveled to this Caribbean paradise will recognize.

T he reason why he created the Bilingue Blogs channel is to inspire and motivate people to learn Spanish. He calls his methods “unorthodox” and relies mainly on conversations with other bloggers or native Spanish speakers from different countries. He vlogs about Dominican culture, idiomatic expressions, he imitates countries from other countries, makes skits, and has loads and loads of fun.

E ven though the Dominican accent might not be the most representative of the Spanish language and - packed with local idioms - is quite tricky to understand, Ricky’s outgoing personality and incredible language skills make his Youtube vlog truly addictive.

  • charismatic host with incredible language skills
  • entertaining content
  • helps to understand the not-so-common Caribbean Spanish
  • not all videos have subtitles

Best Travel Vloggers and YouTubers to Follow in 2024

Best Travel Vloggers and YouTubers to Follow in 2024

As a travel vlogger myself, I may be biased but I think that travel vloggers provide a captivating insight into the world of travel and adventure. You can explore destinations from the comfort of your sofa and get endlessly inspired for your next trips.

The visual storytelling that video content allows for is perfect for travel. I think it’s an amazing way to discover new and unique perspectives on travel.

Travel videos resonate with aspiring adventurers in a way that can be difficult with written content.

Plus, it’s a great way of getting to know a creator and the face behind a travel blog . I love that travel vlogs provide a more personal approach that combines an informative experience with wonderful creativity.

To help you discover the best travel content out there, I have compiled a list of the top travel vloggers and YouTubers for the most engaging travel video content.

I’ve included sections on solo female travellers, family travel vloggers, British travel vloggers, and travel couples.

From personality-led travel vlogs to stunning cinematic masterpieces, here is my pick of the best travel vloggers and YouTubers to follow in 2024.

Author Bio: Jessie Moore

Jessie Moore is a luxury travel expert with years of experience travelling the world to find the best destinations, hotels and adventures.

Top travel vloggers

Fearless and far.

Mike Corey is the man behind adventure travel vlog, Fearless and Far . I love that he journeys to weird and wonderful destinations, which are far away from the mainstream.

It is a wonderfully creative vlog that encourages people to face their fears to travel the world.

Mike approaches travel and life as an extreme sport. The results are wild, unique, and downright crazy travel experiences. His travel vlogs are a rollercoaster of adventure and adrenaline-fuelled travel.

Drew Binsky

Drew Binsky is an American travel vlogger and Youtube documentary maker. His travel vlog has a heavy focus on discovering and celebrating the various cultures across the world.

Telling unique stories of the communities and culture behind every location, he brings his viewers daily travel videos.

In a refreshing approach to travel vlogging, Drew puts a spotlight on sociopolitical issues, including human rights, gay and transgender acceptance, and challenging racial and religious stereotypes.

He wants to bust the myth that the world is unsafe, inspiring other people to travel and widen their perspective of the world; which I think is an admirable goal.

As if that wasn’t enough, Drew often features amazing special guests on his channel too.

Nadine Sykora is a seasoned globetrotter who brings an impossibly fun and positive energy to her travel content.

I think her energy is genuinely infectious, adding an optimistic and lively dimension to travel and adventure.

It’s this approach that elevates her storytelling, inspiring young people to travel. Her videos are helpful and informative, from packing guides to handy travel hacks.

Hey Nadine is therefore a great resource for aspiring young adventurers.

Sam Kolder is a Canadian adventurer and creator of exceptional travel videos. As a seriously talented travel filmmaker, Kolder’s videos are nothing short of cinematic masterpieces.

Kold is a channel for high quality travel content, as well as some educational videos for aspiring filmmakers.

In his travel videos, you’ll discover engaging storytelling and the best transitions you’ve ever seen. Kolder is also known for his incredible drone shots and a habit for backflipping off tall structures.

Videos are few and far between but, trust me, they are always worth the wait. My favourite travel video of all time is Kold’s Hey Tim :

Lost LeBlanc

Christian LeBlanc is another Canadian adventurer. His unwavering passion for travel shines through his well executed videos on his YouTube channel, Lost LeBlanc .

He has created a dedicated community of like-minded travellers as a result. I love that LeBlanc encourages his viewers to step out of their comfort zones in the pursuit of adventure and global discovery.

He offers a lot of resources to other aspiring travel filmmakers and photographers, teaching both the creative and business side of the travel vlogging sphere.

Formerly known as Migrationology, Mark Wien’s travel vlog is one for the foodies. He believes that food is the reason you should travel and believe me when I say that his dribble-worthy videos strongly support this claim!

His content combines incredible food discoveries with highly watchable travel experiences.

Mark is based in Thailand with his wife, but he frequently travels all over the world trying amazing food from various different countries and cultures.

He is constantly on the hunt for local delicacies and mouth-watering meals.

Phil Good Travel

In the Phil Good Travel vlog , Phil Calvert travels across Europe sprinkling positivity everywhere he goes. His aim is to promote solidarity between all backgrounds, races, and upbringings.

Given that black travellers are frequently the minority in Europe, Phil has set out to create a community of black travellers in this part of the world.

I love that he brings open-mindedness and optimism to his travel videos, and his enthusiasm is truly infectious.

Sorelle Amore

Sorelle is a quirky bundle of energy with a huge and infectious smile.

Her YouTube channel offers more than just travel, whether it’s home updates or ‘Advanced Selfie’ photography tips. In short, she wants to inspire confidence and creativity.

Her videos feel very authentic, with none of the superficial or forced feel that you sometimes get with other vloggers. Sorelle is constantly striving to be a better human, and tries to inspire others to do the same.

She recently moved to Iceland, so if you love Iceland content (who doesn’t!) then you’ll love some of her latest videos.

A travel vlogger from Tasmania, Brooke Saward aims to inspire young people to travel more, and to feel more confident travelling solo.

Brooke documents her travels on her YouTube channel in a way that feels authentic and accessible. A popular blogger, vlogger, author, and adventurer.

Eva zu Beck

Eva zu Beck is an adventure traveller and solo female explorer. On her YouTube channel Eva explores less visited destinations which are not commonly seen in mainstream travel media.

Whether it’s visiting Aleppo and Damascus in Syria, hiking the K2 base camp in Pakistan, or trekking alone through Mongolia.

Eva aims to tell the stories of those people, communities, and cultures that you don’t normally see or have access to. She encourages people to push themselves out of their comfort zones.

A truly inspiring solo female traveller and one of my personal favourites.

I Am Aileen

Aileen Adalid is a travel vlogger from the Philippines. She did what many of us dream of doing: she quit her corporate job at 21 to travel the world.

Aileen shows her viewers how to travel the world as a digital nomad, inspiring her community of travel dreamers to do the same.

On her channel, I Am Aileen , you’ll find beautiful travel videos which are packed full of tips and tricks. I love that she also shows you how to live a sustainable travel lifestyle.

Jennelle Eliana

Known as the woman who lives in a van with her pet snake, Jennelle Eliana’s YouTube channel exploded within a matter of weeks. Her travel vlog has a light-hearted feel with a strong focus on sustainability.

All her videos are shot and edited on her iPhone. I think hte lower production values of her videos provide a more authentic portrayal of van life.

She addresses the less glamorous sides of travel and I love that it doesn’t feel as curated or manufactured.

Oneika the Traveller

A thrill-seeker and travel junkie, Oneika Raymond is dedicated to inspiring people of colour to travel the world and live outside of their comfort zone. She inspires through education and engaging storytelling.

Oneika is not just a successful travel vlogger. She is also an award-winning writer, journalist, and keynote speaker – having spoken at the Women in Travel Summit and Women’s Travel Fest.

Pocket Wanderings

Okay this is a shameless self-promotion but it would be remiss of me not to include my own YouTube channel in this list!

I’m still relatively new to travel blogging but I’m hoping to grow my YouTube community moving forwards. On my channel you’ll find solo travel tips, luxury travel inspiration and hotel reviews.

Family travel vloggers

The bucket list family.

The Gee family started out when they sold everything and left home to travel around the world to become Family Travel Journalists.

The Bucket List Family travel vlog documents their many adventures and travels across the world.

They describe themselves as “just your ‘average’ family”, playing on the fact that most people wouldn’t consider their adventure-fuelled family life to be ‘average’ at all.

I’m sure that the Gee family will certainly make you question whether settling down is the best way to approach family life!

Hopscotch the Globe

Hopscotch the Globe is run by travel couple, Kristen and Siya. Until recently, they would have fallen into the travel couple section – but now they have a daughter and a dog, they are fully fledged family adventurers.

Their aim is to inspire couples and families to travel more. The couple share travel tips, destination guides, food adventures, and tiny home living on their channel.

I find their videos to be funny, entertaining, and genuinely helpful.

Wolter’s World

The Wolter’s World channel is a great destination for honest travel advice. It comprises a family of four who have lived, studied, worked, and travelled across the world.

Wolter addresses the best and the worst parts of travelling to help his viewers be better prepared.

In sharing honest perspectives, Wolter provides helpful insights into the culture and people of the places he visits.

He has a preference for showing this more realistic side of travel – rather than fancy drone shots and backflips of cliffs. There are new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.

The Makepeace family consists of Caz, Craig, Kalyra, and Savannah. They are on a mission to prove that travel does not have to stop after children.

They have travelled the world nomadically since 1997, so trust me when I say that these guys really know what they’re talking about.

Having travelled solo, as a couple, as expats, as digital nomads, in an RV, and as a family, they bring multiple viewpoints to the travel experience.

Their videos help fellow travel lovers unplug from the chaos, travel more, and create better memories – all with kids in tow.

British travel vloggers

Fun for louis.

Louis Cole is a popular British travel vlogger, recognised by his signature dreadlocks.

He’s also partial to a backflip in wonderful and remote locations. The Fun For Louis channel brings upbeat and charismatic video content.

Louis is a non-stop adventurer, creating daily vlogs – so there is a lot of content to get stuck into. You’ll find a whole variety of creative content and fun adventures on Louis’ travel vlog.

It’s exciting, entertaining, and engaging.

Mr Ben Brown

A talented photographer and filmmaker, Ben Brown documents his travels to far-flung destinations. As a result of his engaging content, Ben has achieved wide acclaim for his YouTube content.

Ben is also a professional athlete, as a two-time world champion kayaker. He is energetic and optimistic, which I think shines through his travel content.

Psycho Traveller

Birmingham-born Aly is a digital nomad who has built an online community of fellow travel lovers. The ‘psycho part’ of Psycho Traveller comes from the fact that Aly is a Psychology graduate.

I love that Aly provides raw, honest commentary in her content, as well as helpful tips and tricks. She aims to inspire everyone – of all ages and backgrounds – to live the life they want to live.

She is also a best-selling author and public speaker.

Couple travel vloggers

The planet d.

An endearing adventure couple, Dave and Deb live by the motto ‘adventure is for everyone’. They are a refreshing change from the ‘perfect’ travel couples you see plastered all over Instagram.

The aim of Planet D is to inspire everyone to seek adventure – you don’t have to be young, fit and rich to travel.

Their videos provide valuable information and unique experiences for anyone looking to live a more adventure-fuelled life.

Sailing La Vagabonde

Sailing La Vagabonde is run by Australian couple Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu. It all started with a dream of circumnavigating the globe by sailboat – with no previous sailing experience!

Riley and Elayna share video content around their seafaring experiences, including useful information for those looking to start sailing.

They inspire others to live an alternative lifestyle and also hope to raise ocean awareness. Now they have a baby in tow, so there’s a new and exciting dimension to their travels!

Kara and Nate

Kara and Nate are high school sweethearts who have been travelling the world full-time for five years. They started with a goal of travelling to 100 countries – which they have since achieved and surpassed!

The travel couple embark on all kinds of adventures – from hiking Everest Base Camp to taking the Trans-Siberian Railway.

You can also find a number of resources on travel hacking, YouTube, and entrepreneurship on their blog.

The Endless Adventure

Eric and Allison embody the classic story of leaving steady jobs to pursue a life of travel as digital nomads.

Their YouTube channel, The Endless Adventure , offers a tantalising combination of travel, food, and adventure – all of the best things in life!

I think this is a great channel for travel foodies, as they share some of the most mouth-watering food from around the world.

I have no doubt that Eric and Allison will inspire you to hit the road and pursue a life of adventure.

Flying the Nest

Stephen & Jess are an Australian couple with a passion for adventure. You’ll find a range of travel content on Flying the Nest , from daily life and food discoveries to volunteering and worldly travels.

The couple share a diverse range of travel experiences, from hiking Machu Picchu to overwater bungalows in the Maldives.

Their videos offer a unique historical insight and engaging video content. Plus, they now have a new baby to join their adventures.

I couldn’t possibly fit all of the amazing travel vloggers out there into this list. But these are some of my personal favourites and a great place to start if you’re feeling overwhelmed with all the travel content on YouTube.

As mentioned above, I do have my own YouTube channel ? It’s only in the early stages I’m already in the process of expanding it and any new subscribers honestly means the world.

25 Travel Vloggers to follow in 2021

  • December 30, 2020

The end of 2020 is the perfect time to start your YouTube addiction 😉 Many people can’t/won’t/don’t travel right now, and that’s totally understandable, but there’s no reason you can’t “armchair travel” through some incredible YouTube creators. That’s why I’m putting together this list of travel vloggers to follow in 2021!

About 2 years ago, we started watching travel vlogs pretty regularly…this was partly thanks to Sean convincing me to buy a smart TV for the living room which means we have access to YouTube while hanging out in the evenings. Discovering how people were creating travel content through video was the inspiration we needed to really focus on building our own travel YouTube channel — which you can check out and subscribe to.

best spanish travel vloggers

If you Google articles for top travel vloggers, you’ll definitely find a few lists but I’m putting one together for a couple of reasons. One is that I want to share with you who has inspired us, and two, I want to introduce you to a few that aren’t the biggest in the business because there are smaller creators that you might vibe with. So, while there will be some big names on this list, you’re guaranteed to discover new ones!

Have your own favorites? Add them in the comments!

The Endless Adventure

best spanish travel vloggers

This is our favorite travel channel on YouTube because Eric and Allison are so relatable, friendly, and travel in a similar way we do. They also go all over the world and seem to have fun with life while staying on top of their upload schedule. Obviously, 2020 threw us all for a loop and now they are renovating an RV in between local foodie adventures that usually end up in a super unique accommodation. They are just hard not to like.

Travel Beans

best spanish travel vloggers

This super fun British couple are known as the Travel Beans and they love to travel and seem to take a different route on travel vlogging. Emma and Alex share all sides of the trip — good or bad. And they are happy to teach us what they’ve learned.

Kara and Nate

best spanish travel vloggers

Very well-known are Kara and Nate . This couple tends to get a little controversial for, in my opinion, some silly things. While they make a lot of money from YouTube and products they’ve created thanks to their success, they are still down-to-Earth and super pleasant. They go to very interesting places and also stay in very unique accommodations.

best spanish travel vloggers

I think I’ve found Cup of TJ from The Endless Adventure when they did a collaboration and, funny enough, we were all at the same conference in 2016 (I think) in London, but I wasn’t watching YouTube yet, so I didn’t know! TJ has the cutest travel and food show on YouTube…and I hired her as my YouTube coach for the spring and summer in 2020. So, I can tell you first hand that she’s amazing and her food videos always make me hungry and make me laugh!

Heart my backpack

best spanish travel vloggers

Silva, from Heart My Backpack is an American-Norwegian who grew up in the U.S. but has lived in Norway for more than a few years now. She’s done the female solo traveler thing before it was cool, she’s been to countries that some people haven’t heard of, and, annoyingly, knows a few languages. (I say annoyingly because I not-so-secretly wish I did, too) Silva will be the first to tell you that she’s socially awkward and if you read her blog, you’ll feel her snarky storytelling shine through. Her videos make it all more fun and you get to see parts of Norway that nobody else is covering!

best spanish travel vloggers

Deja Shu is a channel run by Shu that’s mostly food and travel with a bit of London lifestyle thrown in. I’ve met Shu and have seen her work and she’s a pro who really cares about giving you a good video that makes you want to run out the door and do what she’s doing. That’s the sign of a good vlogger!

Girl vs Globe

best spanish travel vloggers

Positivity is the first thing when I think of Sabina of Girl vs Globe . She’s also just genuinely kind and that shines through in every single video. She takes responsible travel very seriously, but I’m guessing she’ll be showing us more of London soon, but until then, she’s sharing a bit of London lifestyle, as well.

Chasing a plate

best spanish travel vloggers

This food-obsessed travel channel does an excellent job of sharing the best food everywhere they travel. Thomas and Sheena have great energy that you’ll feel through the screen! They’ve done collaborations with some of my favorite vloggers so they hang out with cool people 😉

Backpacking bananas

best spanish travel vloggers

If you are looking to see what backpacking around the world looks like, especially as a female solo traveler, then Christianne is your woman. She has such a friendly personality that’s easy to follow when she’s on her adventures.

Eva zu Beck

best spanish travel vloggers

This channel will blow your mind because Eva goes on some crazy epic adventures and makes it impossible to stop watching when you start playing one of her videos. She strives to show you places you won’t see in the mass media and is a true adventurer.

best spanish travel vloggers

Mark is the king of food travel videos and his YouTube channel was one of our early favorites. You’ll mostly find him in Asia since he and his wife live in Bangkok, but there are lots of videos from all over to get you drooling.

Delightful travelers

best spanish travel vloggers

Anna and Trevor are a couple of Canadians who love to travel the world — whether it’s through budget travel or splurging on some luxury. I appreciate this balance because sometimes we want to splurge and sometimes we are more frugal so we can splurge in other ways. And it’s always nice to watch people who travel similar to us.

The Wandering Quinn

best spanish travel vloggers

The wonderful Ellie creates travel videos from all over the world and her bubbly, but real, personality is fun to watch. She even travels to some places you may not have thought of visiting, but she’ll show you what you’re missing!

Roaming Required

best spanish travel vloggers

For anyone looking for some informative travel content, London residents Roma and Russ from Roaming Required have got you covered! The love sharing history, food, and travel tips from anywhere they travel and I can’t wait to see more videos from them.

Life by Linda

best spanish travel vloggers

I love this woman’s energy! Life by Linda is all about finding adventure in adulthood and that most definitely includes travel. I really think this is a hidden gem of a travel channel that’s going to be a favorite of many just because of how fun it is!

He Goes, She Goes

best spanish travel vloggers

The fun-loving couple behind the He Goes, She Goes YouTube channel are from Canada and travel all over. Their friendly and personable personality had me hooked and I think it will have you binge-watching their videos, too!

best spanish travel vloggers

We can’t stop watching Kombi Life . This guy has been making YouTube videos for 8 years and his storytelling is captivating. If you’re looking for a REAL look into van-life, you should be watching this channel. But it’s way more than that. Just watch an episode and you’ll understand. Besides, since it’s been 8 years, there’s plenty to binge 😉

The Travel Matt

best spanish travel vloggers

I’m fairly certain this guy was born to be on camera. The Travel Matt is charismatic and gives travel advice and creates travel vlogs in various cities around Europe and is worth checking out!

The Average Tourist

best spanish travel vloggers

Sara is absolutely charming in her travel videos on The Average Tourist and I can’t wait to see how she grows and gets even better with her filming and editing. She tends to cover North America which is great for North Americans looking for inspiration closer to home at this time.

The Daily Departure

best spanish travel vloggers

This Daily Departure is run by a flight attendant named Noelle based in Chicago and has travel vlogs from all over the planet! She has such a unique perspective and opportunity to travel and I’m looking forward to seeing what she does in 2021.

Means To Travel

best spanish travel vloggers

Eliz started this travel YouTube channel just before the pandemic and has been helping people prep to travel again. This is another one where I’m looking forward to seeing how the channel grows and evolves because I love her focus on meaningful travel and talking about how to have the means to travel.

Jeanie Marie

best spanish travel vloggers

This native Minnesotan loves to travel and has so much energy so if you want to watch a feel-good channel, then Jeanie Marie is one to subscribe to. She currently focuses on Minnesota (which has a bunch of gems), and on her trip to Mexico. Where will she go next?

The Little Grey Box

best spanish travel vloggers

You’ll notice something different about The Little Grey Box channel and that’s because Phoebe is a professional presenter on CNN and CNBC and her videographer Matt is an actual videographer. That makes this channel a bit more professional than some of the others, but you still get that travel vlog vibe with the excitement and wonder of travel.

Chase for adventure

best spanish travel vloggers

This is a new-to-us channel with a super adorable couple that travels the world, is so fun to watch. Annette & Daniel are travel journalists who mostly focus on Asian destinations, but have playlists of their videos from around the world.

I’m always on the hunt to discover new channels to enjoy and I’ll share them with you, too! But if you have a favorite, please leave it in the comments so others can check them out. Please don’t forget to head over to our channel at A Wanderlust For Life for all things food & travel. Once you do, let us know you’ve joined us by leaving a comment on your favorite video that we made 😉

Wishing you joy and travels!

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.

The Bucket List Family

The Gee family describes themselves as "just your 'average' family working from all around the world as Family Travel Journalists ." This adventure-fueled family decided they weren't done exploring the world and discovering what life had in store for them, so they opted to skip the whole "settling down" stereotype.

In 2015, they took a huge leap and sold everything in the name of travel and are thankful every day that they were brave enough to do so. Since then, they have explored the globe with their three small children and are having a blast!

Rachael Grow

Let's Grow There

Over the past five years I have worn many hats as a creative freelancer and have been able to pursue adventures across the globe. To me, travel is more than checking a box or sitting on the perfect beach all day. Travel is about self-discovery, keeping an open mind, and learning through culture immersion. In 2017 I was chosen by one of my favorite travel bloggers, The Blonde Abroad, to attend her first ever blogging retreat in Bali with a handful of other inspiring bloggers. It was truly a dream that taught me so much more than I could imagine. Fast-forward to 2019 when I was given the role of one of the lead English writer for Worldpackers. My in-depth articles touched on subjects like volunteer work, overcoming post-travel blues, outdoorsy tips, and boldly adventuring. Inner growth is my jam.

11 Best Spanish YouTubers for Intermediates and Advanced Learners

Have you gotten to the point where you can listen and understand (most of the time) Spanish spoken on TV or the radio?

I waste  spend a good portion of my day watching YouTube videos to learn new things, be entertained, or at times to simply de-stress after a long work day.

  • Want to read at your own convenience? Download the Best Spanish YouTubers Article PDF here .

At Spanishland School, we enjoy YouTube so much that we created a  Channel with Spanish teaching videos .  If you are learning Spanish, it’s a great place to get started as we release new videos twice a week.

That’s enough about us.

Best Spanish Youtubers 2017

We created this article to profile the best Spanish YouTubers.

You can use their videos to be entertained and improve your Spanish at the same time.

If you are going to watch a fun video, why not watch it in Spanish and pick up some new vocab?

Each of our top Spanish YouTubers below feature a quick snapshot about the channel such as where they are from and what their audience size is. We noted whether they are best for intermediate or advanced Spanish speakers.

Alright, let’s get to the list.

11 Best Spanish YouTubers (To Improve Your Spanish)

1) daniela bos.

Country: Mexico

Subscribers: 627 K +

About the Channel: Daniela Bos puts out videos on just about everything. She shares interesting facts such as current events, everyday life, and even some funny sketches.

Her style is easy going and she seems to have a clear tone and is easy to understand if you are a high intermediate or advanced Spanish student. It’s a great channel to follow if you want to see a variety of topics and develop a more fluid vocabulary.

She refers to all her viewers with “Hola bebes” at the beginning of each video to make sure you feel like a part of her tribe.

Recommended For: High Intermediates and Advanced Spanish Learners

2) Werevertumorro

Subscribers : 15 Million +

About the Channel: This is not only one of the top Spanish YouTubers, but also one of the most important influencers in Mexico due to the variety of videos that are uploaded to the channel.

The YouTuber creates cartoon videos like The Simpsons and acted out fun videos on interesting topics like “CÓMO ENAMORAR A UNA MUJER.”

He seems to be a very versatile YouTuber that can create fun everyday comedic sketches like “¡NO SOY NIÑA!” and personal videos where he provides practical advice for those looking for love.

It’s no surprise why he is so popular as his videos are hilarious and well-cut videos with climactic (telenovela like) background music.

His voice tone is clear and very expressive. However, he does speak quite fast at times so keep that in mind. Like most youtube celebrities, his videos are cut quickly so you have to make sure you can keep up with what he is saying as he is speaking.

3) enchufetv.

Country : Ecuador

Subscribers : 16 Million +

About the Channel: Enchfetv features some fantastic short films and comedy sketches on his channel.

Just watching a few of his videos shows the amount of effort and quality that he puts out. It feels like you are watching an actual short TV show. The level of quality is some of the best I have seen on YouTube.

The topics range from business, to sports, to life in general. The video “Compra Condones” is hilarious and a must watch for anyone who needs a good laugh. If you are in for some funny short videos check out this channel!

One thing I did notice is that sometimes the host speaks quickly so it might be difficult to understand at time. However, after a couple of videos I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

4) HolaSoyGerman

  • Don't Forget! Make sure to download the  11 Best Spanish YouTubers Article PDF .

Country: Chile

Subscribers : 33 Million +

About the Channel: German is a wildly popular YouTuber from Chile.  He might be the most popular Spanish YouTuber of them all.

As you can see he has built up quite the following over the years so we would be remiss to not include him to our list. Even if he does speak quite quickly.

He is the star of the show and from what I can tell the main and only actor in everything he uploads.

However, I will finish with this big warning.

He speaks remarkably fast (although clear) and his videos are cut extremely quick so it will be almost impossible for a regular intermediate Spanish student to keep up with everything being said.

If you are an advanced Spanish speaker and can understand fast Spanish speakers, then definitely check out his channel. He is one funny guy.

From what I have found the vocabulary is not overly difficult and you are sure to learn a few things from his storytelling.

Recommended For : Advanced Learners

Country : Mexico

Subscribers : 6 Million +

About the Channel: The channel features videos done by a female YouTuber and Vlogger.

YosStop is from Mexico and speaks on everyday life issues, parodies, and comic sketches like the many other YouTubers mentioned on this review article.

A couple videos that you might enjoy is “SER AMIG@ DE TU EX!” and “LA NOVIA BIPOLAR.”

Her accent and voice tone is relatively clear to understand especially if you understand Mexican Spanish speakers. She seems to pronunciate well on her Vlogs.

Recommended For: High Intermediates and Advanced Learners

6) elrubiusOMG

Country : Spain

Subscribers : 27 Million +

About the Channel: This Spanish YouTuber has racked up quite a few followers in recent years due to their outlandish videos and Vlogs.

It seems to be run by one guy who features some of his friends in his videos as they go on various adventures. He speaks on video games, cheat codes, pranks, and internet trolls.

Like most of the YouTubers mentioned his videos are quite funny if you are looking for a cheap laugh.

The video on “MANERAS DE MOLESTAR A TU COMPAÑERO” was pretty original.

He does hail from Spain so if you are learning the Latin American dialect I recommend you check out a different YouTuber. The accents in the video will make it difficult for those studying Latin Spanish.

Conversely, if you are learning Spanish from Spain, this might be just the perfect channel for you!

  • Need the list for later? Get the PDF for the 11 Best Spanish YouTubers here .

Subscribers : 20 Million +

About the Channel: Yet another top Spanish Youtuber is Yuya. She is bigtime with over 18 million current subscribers.

Her high pitched voice is unique and doesn’t seem to be as crass as many of the other funny Spanish YouTubers mentioned. One thing to keep in mind is it is a very girly channel so if you are into makeup and doing your hair that this is the perfect channel for you!

You can improve your vocabulary as she speaks on beauty, fashion, and relationships. Her voice is quite clear to understand and great for those females out there looking for cheerful and stylish videos.

Her video on the “5 PEINADOS PARA ESCUELA/TRABAJO” has over 44 Million views! That’s a good place to start out if you want to check out her channel.

Recommended For: High Intermediates and Advanced Spanish Speakers

8) luisitorey

Subscribers : 8 Million +

About the Channel: This channel is delivered by a funny guy from Mexico who takes you on a journey featuring a variety of topics.

Just like HolaSoyGerman, Luisito is the star of the show and the main and only actor in his videos. He features a variety of personalities and is very talented in playing different voices and acting roles. His video on “Las Mamás de Hoy” is very well done and got a few giggles from me.

He does speak quite slower than German so that could be helpful for those looking for an easier to understand Spanish speaker. On his channel, you will learn some slang and be entertained at the same time.

  • Enjoying the article? Download the 11 Best Spanish YouTubers Article PDF  to read later .

9) LosPolinesios

Subscribers : 11 Million +

About the Channel: LosPolinesios is a fun Mexican Spanish YouTube channel from a group of siblings (One brother, two sisters) that are trying to share their real-life experiences to the world.

They take you on different travels and bring you on the inside of the fashion industry, show biz, and a assortment of other topics.

They all have a lot of chemistry and only putout entertaining and positive videos. Their videos are cut in the first person as you are normally seeing them from what seems like a selfie stick.

All the videos seem to be shot in the Vlog format.

The video with their dog on “ME LLEVARON DE COMPRAS A LA TIENDA DE MASCOTAS” is an interesting Vlog with over 15 million views.

If you like first person Vlogs with Latin Spanish from Mexico than look no further than LosPolinesios.

10) CaELike

Subscribers : 13 Million +

About the Channel: Just like Yuya featured above, CaELIKE is another girly YouTube channel with some saucy topics (perhaps a little more racy than Yuya).

Shes talk on relationships, fashion, family, and even some business related topics.

She’s very open with her YouTube videos which undoubtedly has helped bring in more views as her popular videos are often on personal subjects like love. Actually, that’s pretty much all her videos.

It’s no wonder why most music artists and movies almost always feature feature stories on love.

The video “MI NOVIO Y YO NOS TOCAMOS NUESTROS CUERPOS” was unique and has over 17 million views to date. I suppose it is a bit of a clickbaity topic.

She has a friendly tone and you will probably understand her as she speaks clearly and at a decent speed to follow along with.

Recommended For: Intermediate and Advanced Learners

11) Fernafloo

Country : El Salvador

Subscribers : 26 Million +

About the Channel : This channel is done by a somewhat nerdy, but fun guy to follow along with guy from El Salvador.

It’s a channel that’s geared more towards a male audience as it features videos about his life, video games, pranks, and of course his family.

He has animated videos, Vlogs, and even a funny rap video. In fact, “EL RAP DE FERNANFLOO !!” has over 95 million views so far! Thankfully, it has the lyrics at the bottom to help understand what is being said.

He speaks quickly and can be hard to understand at times so it’s probably not recommended for intermediate Spanish students.

However, if you are looking for one of the best male Spanish YouTubers on the web then look no further than Fernafloo.

My observations from studying the 11 best spanish youtubers.

Did you know that the second most spoken language in the world is Spanish with over 400 million speakers around the globe?

There are now more Spanish speakers than English speakers today.

Even the Chinese are learning Spanish nowadays. I came into this article thinking there might be a few good Spanish YouTubers out there.

I was blown away by the talent that is on YouTube right now. The quality has really gone up in recent years. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a high-quality camera, good editing, and a little bit of creativity these days.

Top Spanish Youtubers to Listen to

The videos on all these channels came across as extremely well cut and in many cases felt like a full production TV show!

This is an era where you can learn almost anything online and speak with just about everyone no what country you reside in.

All you need is a device with internet.

15 years ago, their weren’t any famous YouTubers from Spain or Latin America. The opportunities these days to learn Spanish from the internet is unimaginable a mere decade ago.

If you are anything like me, you probably want to learn Spanish in an enjoyable way and prefer staying clear of the pen and paper textbook route. That bores me to death which is why I never really did in person classes during my quest of the Spanish language.

If there is one thing I learned from studying the channels of these 11 YouTubers is that you can build up quite a following if you just provide a unique or fun twist on topics people are interested in.

What are lasting topics that are guaranteed to get eyeballs. Personal topics like family, politics, and love seem to always grab an audience.

A lot of times people come to YouTube simply to be entertained. And if you want to be entertained why not learn some Spanish in the process.

Summing Up the Top 11 Spanish Speaking YouTubers

Best Spanish Youtubers

Watching Spanish YouTube videos can be hard for some to comprehend (it is for me) and is certainly not recommended for beginners looking to level up their Spanish.

If you don’t understand most of what is being said then quite frankly there is no point in  watching a Spanish TV show or Spanish movie .

If you truly want to learn the language, we recommend you check our our YouTube channel: Spanishland School .

We put out fun and entertaining videos twice a week as we teach all the important elements of the Spanish language.

"Who's the best Spanish YouTuber to listen to?"

Colombian Spanish Youtubers

Personally, I really liked the short videos from “ Enchufetv “ as they are really well-cut and funny.

My wife Andrea's favorite Spanish YouTuber is Jonatan Clay  who‘s from Colombia and is similar to HolaSoyGerman and Luisitorey mentioned above.

I guess I should have asked her before making this list...

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide which channel you are most interested in. We tried to provide a nice variety with male and female Spanish YouTubers from all over Latin America and Spain.

That being said, I am sure we probably missed a few good ones here or there.

Wow, great recommendations and some seriously hilarious Youtubers. Finding great content like this helps as I’m learning Spanish. Thanks.

Glad you found the article helpful Dime!

This is not good information. You said, “If you don’t understand most of what is being said then quite frankly there is no point in watching a Spanish TV show or Spanish movie.”

look up this video and you’ll see why. Why You Still Can’t Understand Your Target Language by Matt vs. Japan

you need to listen to as much as possible in your target language even if you don’t know many words.

Josh – thanks for writing in. Personally, I think if you are at a beginner level and can’t understand many words than there are better methods that you can use to learn the language to get to the point that you can finally start understanding the Spanish shows and movies.

All methods are great I just think some are better at other times. Just my opinion. 🙂

17 Exciting Things to do in Moscow

Written By: Linda Voltaire

Updated On: December 21, 2022

the very best things to do in moscow

Visiting Russia? These are the top 17 things to do in Moscow to help you plan your trip.

If the western world has New York City , the first great metropolis on the eastern side of our planet is Moscow. A huge city with a complicated and impressive history, Moscow gets a bad rep over Russian politics – but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Capital to the largest country in the world, Moscow takes the grandeur of its standing very seriously.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Table of Contents

Best Things to do in Moscow, Russia

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. There are fascinating remains of these times everywhere in the former Soviet capital, from the gorgeous Seven Sisters skyscrapers to the Orthodox cathedrals that were closed for the better part of a century.  Still, Moscow is also a completely modern city, with a vibrant social and party scene, incredible restaurants, and some of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

things to do in moscow russia | russian market

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

moscow tourist attractions | St. Basil’s Cathedral

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

  • Get your Kremlin Skip the Line Tickets and Kremlin tour here.
  • Free cancellation up to 24-hours in advance of the tour.

2. Bolshoi Theatre

moscow things to do | bolshoi theatre

You can easily spend a couple of days just exploring the Moscovite city centre, and the Bolshoi Theatre should be your second stop. Walk past the Red Square and then head to the nearby Bolshoi Theatre, one of the oldest and most renowned houses of opera and ballet on Earth.

Visit for the impressive early 19th-century architecture, but if you’re seeing a ballet performance, make sure you book between 3 and 6 months in advance! I can strongly recommend this as it is a truly unique experience!

  • Book a private 2-hour tour of the legendary Bolshoi Theatre.
  • See the presidential box reserved for tzars, watch a rehearsal and skip the lines through a separate entrance.
  • Free Cancellation up to 24-hours in advance.

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

russia moscow sites | GUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand.

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

things to see in moscow | christ the savoir cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

  • Get around Moscow with ease using the Hop On Hop Off boat and Bus ticket. 24, 48 or 72-hour tickets available.

5. Gorky Park

tourist attractions in moscow | gorky park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one!

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends.

6. River Cruising

tourist attractions points of interest

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

  • We use Get Your Guide when booking city tours and they offer a River Sightseeing Cruise seeing all the main tourist attractions in Moscow

7. Metro Hopping

unusual things in moscow | train station

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. See more details here.

8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

place to visit in moscow | arabatskaya

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

moscow unique things to do | university

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

where to shop in moscow | russian market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

unique moscow things to do | graffiti

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

moscow unique things to do | patriarshy prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

museums in moscow | artplay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

moscow sightseeing | shopping district

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

modern skyscrapers of moscow

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Wine, Dine, and Party in Moscow

view of moscow from ruski

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

where to eat in moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries.

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

More Dining Options

white rabbit moscow russia

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish.
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

things to do in moscow russia | city scape

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town.
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

must do in moscow | moskva river

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting.
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

Nice article. Love the hidden gems and graffiti art, would love to visit Artplay. Thanks for a comprehensive guide to Moscow!

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here we can find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers.

Your article is good and meaningful .

Wonderful stuff! I’ve been to Moscow, but not properly – it’s a long story lol!

Anyhoo, my next thing is to fly from Berlin to Moscow and then travel from there to Beijing via the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train. Now, if only I could just find the time …!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism. Especially Americans.

that looks like quite a beautiful place. 🙂

best spanish travel vloggers

On April 29, 2024, the MICHELIN Guide revealed the brand new One, Two, and Three Key distinctions for the most outstanding hotels in Spain. This announcement comes four years into a comprehensive refresh of our hotel selection. The MICHELIN Guide now includes over 5,000 hotels across the world, and not a single one is simply a room for the night. These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting. Which brings us back to the Keys. The culmination of countless hours of evaluation by our team of experts, the Key hotels below represent the highlights of our broader selection. Like the MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, the MICHELIN Keys are our most outstanding hotels. In total, the 2024 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection in Spain includes five Three Key hotels, 12 Two Key hotels, and 80 One Key hotels. Want to know more about the MICHELIN Key? Highlights of the Spain 2024 Key Hotel List

Cristine Bedfor — Minorca

Remarkable Personality in the Balearic Islands

Between Mallorca, Minorca, and Ibiza, the Balearic Islands display some of greatest variety in Key hotel winners across any region in the country. Mallorca, in particular, finds a bevy of options: from the small and historic ( Son Brull Hotel & Spa , Hotel Can Ferrereta , Nobis Hotel Palma ) to the stylish hotspots ( Es Princep and La Residencia ). One jewel on the island that defies typical categorization: Cap Rocat, an ancient fortress expertly remade , where the top suites occupy former cannon dugouts. On Minorca, check out Key hotels like Torralbenc , a tasteful, intimate, high-end hotel built from the bones of an old farm; or, in the capital of Mahón, look at Cristine Bedfor — one of the most creative, high-concept design hotels in our collection. Mandarin Oriental Ritz — Madrid

Radical and Renewed Design

In Madrid, you’ll find Key hotels largely in historic 19th or 20th century facades. Places like Santo Mauro , in a former Duke’s 1895 neoclassical mansion, or the Ritz , a Belle Époque palace that dates back to King Alfonso XIII. These are remarkable, and mainstays of our Spanish collection — but we’re ecstatic too to celebrate grand departures from such a style. The pinnacle: Hotel Marques de Riscal , a state-of-the-art Frank Gehry building complete with titanium “hair” (Gehry’s words) swooping above its vineyards. See too the ultra-modern glass boxes at Vivood Landscape Hotel outside Alicante.

Akelarre — San Sebastián

Key Hotels with MICHELIN Star restaurants

The Key hotel distinction and the MICHELIN Star for restaurants are decided independently of one another, but it so happens that several hotels in Spain sport both. Among them: Akelarre in San Sebastián (restaurant: Akelarre ), Atrio Restaurante Hotel in Cáceres (restaurant: Atrio ), and Pepe Vieria Restaurant Hotel in Poio (restaurant: Pepe Vieira ). Not unrelated, we see too a strong crop of winery hotels. Places like Terra Dominicata (a 12th century monastery with its own vintage) and Torre del Marques (an 18th century tower with views of the olive groves) are two of our most fascinating. Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

7-day Moscow itinerary

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

things to do in Moscow in one week

Read Next: Things To Do on Socotra

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

Metro Station: Kropotkinskaya on Red Line

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

travel itinerary for one week in Moscow

How to Get a Decent Haircut in a Foreign Country

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

exploring Moscow

Travel Itinerary for One Week in Beijing

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

Metro Station: VDNKh on Orange Line

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Moscow sights

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

top things to do in Moscow

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

Metro Station: Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno on Dark Green Line / Kuskovo on Purple Line

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

one week Moscow itinerary

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

12 Stunning National Parks and Regional Parks In France

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

Moscow itinerary

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Two Weeks In Thailand: The Perfect 14-Day Itinerary

I only visited two out of eight cities included on the route. It is a no-brainer that Sergiev Posad is the nearest and the easiest city to see on a day trip from Moscow. That being said, you can explore its main attractions in just one day. Located some 70 km north-east of the Russian capital, this tiny and overlooked town is home to Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, UNESCO Site.

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Metro Station: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya on Circle Line / Partizanskaya on Dark Blue Line / Pushkinskaya on Dark Green Line

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

Conclusion and Recommendations

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

I know very little about Moscow or Russia for the\at matter. I do know I would have to see the Red Square and all of its exquisite architectural masterpieces. Also the CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOUR. Thanks for shedding some light on visiting Moscow.

Thanks for swinging by! The Red Square is a great starting point, but there way too many places and things to discover aside from it!

Moscow Travel Guide: Best Things to Do + More [2023]

· everything to know about visiting moscow, including the best things to do and how to get around. ·.

the red st basils church in moscow on a white winters day

Moscow is Russia’s vibrant capital city, and it also happens to be the largest city in all of Europe. The city’s long and infamous history makes it one of the most unique places we have ever visited.

The architecture ranges from centuries-old palaces to uniform, gray concrete buildings. The people range from cold and private to warm and welcoming. Moscow is a city is strong juxtapositions, and we learned a lot during our time there.

This post will break down all you need to know about visiting Moscow, including the best things to do, how to get there, how to get around, and more.

The Best Things to Do in Moscow

1. explore the red square.

The Red Square is the heart of Moscow. Most of the city’s top attractions can be found here, including just about everything on this list. The Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and Lenin’s Mausoleum are all located here, and the State Historical Museum and GUM are not far from here, either.

The Red Square is a common home for parades, protests, and seasonal celebrations. There are massive Christmas celebrations here, with food vendors and carnival rides set up in numbers.

2. Check Out the Ziferblat

The Ziferblat is a café in Moscow that is unlike any café we have ever been to. While most cafes charge you for your drinks and food, the Ziferblat charges you for your time.

Upon arrival, you are given a clock. When you leave, the barista calculates how much time you spent in the café and charges you accordingly. This concept was created to help visitors to be more intentional with their time, and the cafe itself is incredibly charming.

For a detailed look at everything you need to know before you visit, make sure you read my post about visiting the Ziferblat Cafe in Moscow .

3. Marvel at St. Basil’s Cathedral

St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most iconic churches in the world, and it was the single thing we were most excited to see while in Moscow. Built almost 500 years ago, St. Basil’s Cathedral is recognized by its colorful domes and whimsical style. The church is of the Russian Orthodox faith, and the inside is just as wondrous as the outside.

St. Basil’s Cathedral is located on the edge of the Red Square, making it incredibly convenient to visit. Entrance for non-worshippers costs 800 rubles, and tickets can be bought at the church

4. Explore the Kremlin

The Kremlin is the largest active fortress in Europe, and it is the site of most of Russia’s government affairs. In addition to government buildings, the Kremlin Complex is filled with courtyards, towers, and museums that are open to the public. If you have the time, you could spend a couple of days fully exploring all that there is to see in the Kremlin.

5. Walk Through Lenin’s Mausoleum

Vladimir Lenin is one of the most important figures in Russian history, and his body is located perfectly embalmed in a mausoleum in the Red Square. The Mausoleum is open to the public to visit, and as long as you are willing to go through a few security checks, it is easily one of the best things to do in Moscow. Its convenient location in the Red Square makes it a can’t miss attraction.

There is absolutely no photography allowed inside the Mausoleum. Do not test this rule.

6. Wander Along Arbat Street

The Arbat is a very popular street in Moscow that is lined with stores, cafes, and other touristy attractions. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating back to the 1400s. This street is both quaint and trendy, and there are many walking tours that introduce tourists to the neighborhood’s wonders and highlights.

7. Catch a Show at the Bolshoi Theatre

As a lover of the arts, it is hard to think of Moscow and not think of ballet. Russia has always been a top dog in the world of fine arts, and Bolshoi Theater is one of the best places to catch a performance. We were lucky enough to attend an Opera here, and it is a venue that you don’t want to miss out on if you enjoy opera, ballet, or orchestral performances.

8. Visit the State Historical Museum

The State Historical Museum is one of the most respected museums in Moscow. Despite its name, it is not really focused on the history of Russia as a nation. Rather, it contains a collection of artifacts from all throughout Russia’s history.

The museum’s collection is very broad in nature. It houses some items from indigenous tribes that used to occupy the region, pieces collected by the Romanov family, and more.

9. Wander Around GUM

GUM is an absolutely massive mall within walking distance of the Red Square. It isn’t just the size that draws visitors here; it’s the sense of luxury. The mall is so beautiful inside, much like the metro stations.

While visiting a mall might not sound like it belongs on a bucket list, this mall does. You will not want to miss out on visiting GUM while in Moscow.

10. Admire the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

While St. Basil’s Cathedral is the most iconic church in Moscow, it isn’t the only one. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is absolutely stunning, with massive golden domes. It is the tallest Orthodox church in the world, and it is the seat of the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow.

It is located just about a mile from the Red Square, just south of the Kremlin Complex. You can walk to it from the Red Square in about 20 minutes.

How to Get to Moscow

Flying to moscow.

Moscow has three major international airports: Sheremetyevo (SVO) , Domodedovo (DMO) , and Vnukovo (VKO) . All three of them are directly connected to downtown Moscow by the Aeroexpress trains, which leave every 30 minutes throughout the day. By Aeroexpress train, you can expect to get to the city center in 25-45 minutes depending on the airport that you fly into.

Sheremetyevo is the biggest and busiest of the three airports, and it is the one you are most likely to fly into – especially if you are coming from outside of Europe or the Caucus region. We flew into Sheremetyevo on a direct flight from New York City.

I usually provide backup airport options, because flying right into the city isn’t always the cheapest way to get where you’re going. Unfortunately, when it comes to Moscow, don’t really have a choice other than to fly right into Moscow. It is a very remote city, and it is usually the cheapest place to fly into in Russia as a whole.

Since Sheremetyevo is so busy, you will probably find a great flight option anyway. I wrote in  my post about finding cheap flights  that using hub airports will lead to more affordable airfare, and the same logic applies here. Even though Russia’s national airline, Aeroflot, is no longer a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Moscow is still a major hub connecting passengers from all over the world.

Train or Bus to Moscow

Trains and buses are one of the most popular ways to get around Europe. However, they’re of very little use when you’re trying to get to Moscow.

Moscow is hundreds of miles from the nearest major cities. The only major European city that can even be reached within 8 hours on the ground is St. Petersburg, and even the Baltic capitals of Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn are over 12 hours away.

If you want to get to Moscow, the best option is almost always to fly. While the train routes to Moscow are scenic, they simply take forever.

How to Get Around Moscow

METRO | TROLLEYS | TRAMS | BUSES

Moscow has one of the most memorable metro systems in the world. Its metro lines are very deep underground, and the stations are absolutely stunning. Each station has its own unique style, but all of them contain escalators that seem to go on forever.

turned-on chandelier on ceiling of moscow metro

The system was built in an effort to showcase the power of the Soviet Union and its bright future. The plans were a form of propaganda, but they resulted in what is still one of the most visually appealing subway systems on earth.

Moscow’s metro system isn’t just pretty. It is also very useful and accessible. The system has 17 lines that connect the city and its surrounding area.

But wait; there’s more!

The Moscow metro system is also incredibly affordable, with each ride costing less than a dollar. The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow, as it is almost impossible to beat the connection times and the low cost to ride.

Tickets can be bought at electronic, English-speaking kiosks in stations, or directly from ticket counters at certain larger stations. There are also day passes available, which are a very solid option if you plan on riding the metro several times per day.

The metro is by far the best way to get around Moscow.

In addition to the metro system, Moscow also has a network of buses, trams, and trolleys. This system is nowhere near as convenient or well-connected as the metro, though, and is likely of little use to you during your trip. There is no Uber in Moscow, but a similar app named Yandex is available if you need a ride in a pinch.

How Many Days Do You Need in Moscow?

Moscow is the biggest city in all of Europe, and it is absolutely loaded with things to do. You could spend weeks in Moscow and still find new things to do. Of course, most travelers don’t have that kind of time to spend in one place!

I recommend spending no less than three full days in Moscow, and ideally closer to five or seven.

Moscow is very spread out, and it can take some time to get from one major point to another. There are also so many places that are nice to just sit back and relax, which is hard to do when you’re in a hurry trying to cram activities into just a few days.

If you only have a week to visit Russia, I’d advise spending all of the time in one city. If you decide to split your time between Moscow and St. Petersburg, I recommend not trying to squeeze in any day trips beyond those two cities.

When Is the Best Time of the Year to Visit Moscow?

There are two different ways to approach this question. Personally, I think the best time to visit Moscow is around Christmas and New Year’s Day. While the weather will be absolutely freezing, Moscow is a surreal winter wonderland in December and January.

We were in Moscow right before Christmas. While it was very cold, you can always bundle up. Exploring the Christmas markets and pop-up ice skating rinks throughout Moscow is one of my favorite memories from anywhere I’ve traveled, and I dream of going back to do it again.

If you aren’t fond of the cold, Moscow is beautiful in the summer. It tends to get pretty cold in the shoulder seasons, so if you want warm weather, you should plan to visit in the summer. Moscow actually gets pretty warm in July and August, and there are a bunch of fantastic places to soak up the sun within the city.

The best time to visit Moscow is either around Christmas or from late May to August.

Is Moscow Safe to Visit?

While Moscow is a truly wonderful city, there’s no denying that visiting Russia comes with risks. As the country is run by an infamous communist dictator, concerns about visiting are valid. While we didn’t experience any sort of threat or negative treatment during our time in Moscow, we visited in a peaceful time.

In our experience, Russia doesn’t seem to detain normal Americans or Westerners to use as pawns. As a regular person, as long as you don’t commit any crimes, there is a slim chance you will run into any issues. However, Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.

Russia will not hesitate to enforce its laws against foreigners, and illegal behaviors will likely land you in a very compromising position.

To make matters worse, Russia has a bad reputation for gang violence. While the Russian mafia has very little interest in normal Western tourists, they won’t hesitate to pick a fight with anyone who ventures into their sphere of influence. If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.

If you seek out illegal substances or activities, you could be a target of the mafia.

Finally, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things are all very different. Russia is currently at war, and there are battles raging within 8 hours of Moscow. While it is still relatively safe to visit, that could change at any time as the war with Ukraine continues.

Is Moscow Worth Visiting?

Without a doubt, Moscow is worth visiting. It is one of the most unique major cities we have ever visited, and we hope to make it back one day. The Russian Orthodox churches are stunning, the city’s history is unlike any other, and the food is to die for.

While many visitors prefer St. Petersburg to Moscow, I think Moscow deserves a lot of hype of its own. Moscow is the beating heart of Russian culture and history, and it’s a place I highly recommend checking out if you have the chance.
