Advantage Travel Partnership Announce 2024 Conference Location
The Advantage Travel Partnership has today announced that its 2024 flagship annual industry conference will be hosted in Mexico
The Advantage Travel Partnership has today announced that its 2024 flagship annual industry conference will be hosted in Mexico, selected as an opportunity to showcase the destination as a market that is highly relevant to leisure and business travel.
With British holiday makers flocking to Mexico, a recent Advantage survey revealed it is one of the top three long haul destinations for UK travellers for 2024. Mexico, with its magnificent beaches, UNESCO World Heritage Cites and vibrant cities, has become one of the most popular global destinations for tourists. The capacity and tourism infrastructure of its cities also makes it a premium MICE destination, as business travellers can enjoy the destination whilst attending meetings and conventions.
The three-night event will be hosted from 15th to 18th May 2024 at the 5-star Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort and Spa, in partnership with the Palladium Hotel Group.
The resort, located on the Costa Mujeres beach, has an extensive range of facilities including three pools, a state-of-the-art spa and seven à la carte restaurants. All conference delegates will be hosted in the resort’s junior suites.
Mexico has been chosen for the conference given its prominence as a key destination for both leisure and business travellers. Costa Mujeres is highly regarded as a bucket-list destination, and Mexico is generally seen as an important and growing business travel destination, attracting annually nearly half a million business trips.
Delegates will arrive on Wednesday 15th May and enjoy a three-day programme of events that will include a blend of insightful business sessions and social activities. The programme will incorporate a wide range of relevant and inspirational keynote speakers, alongside dedicated business travel and leisure travel content relevant to both sectors.
Saturday 18th May will be a day devoted to delegates participating in a ‘giving back’ activity or taking part in an environmental project.
Delegates will also be able to opt to stay an additional night and depart on the Sunday giving them the opportunity to either enjoy all that the destination has to offer or spend further time working on local projects with a positive impact.
Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO, Advantage Travel Partnership, said: “The power of travel lies in its ability to create positive change, fostering cultural understanding, promoting peace and inspiring communities worldwide, and at Advantage we want our annual conference to reflect all of this and more.
“For the first time, the conference will be a global event for our global partners and members. Our members are facilitators of travel, drivers of progress, contributing to a more compassionate, interconnected, and sustainable global society, and during our time together in Mexico we very much intend to focus on these key themes.
“We wanted to be ambitious about where we host delegates in 2024 and felt that it was time to take the conference long-haul again, after staging it in short-haul destinations since 2018.
“Mexico met all our criteria and is a destination that our members will be excited to visit. It’s a country thriving with unique culture and history and has the highest level of tourism in Latin America, giving visitors vast opportunities to explore or indulger in one of its many unique resorts rights on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico or the Pacific Ocean. It’s also a growing business travel destination, one that has recovered well post-pandemic and is set to grow even further.”
As the Partnership announced at its annual conference in Benidorm in May last year, the 2024 conference will have a strong emphasis on the positive impacts of tourism and ‘giving back’.
Lo Bue-Said, continued: “We made a commitment last year that our annual flagship conferences going forward will have a significant bias to tourism that has a positive impact and this will be the case when we meet in Mexico. As well as all the usual thought-provoking business sessions, workshops and networking opportunities, delegates will also have time to participate in local projects. The event will also incorporate all aspects of our 8-point sustainability pledge, that we announced at last year’s conference.
“As we get into the more detailed planning stages of the event, we will be working with a number of our supplier partners who have operations locally to ensure we can provide a host of activities that will give delegates a greater insight to the work that is taking place across the region to help the environment or the ability to spend time with locals, working on special projects.”
Steven Esom, Chairman of The Advantage Travel Partnership, added: “In true Advantage style, the decision to take the conference to Mexico is both bold and progressive. With the area of sustainability getting, quite rightly, higher on every business agenda, it’s great to see Julia and the team making sure this important issue is at the centre of the Partnership’s conference plans and will play a key role in what delegates will experience whilst at the event.
“Our thanks to Palladium Hotels for their generous support in hosting our flagship event and we look forward to working with them to make it a resounding success.”
Joanne Peters, Senior Business Development Manager UK & Ireland, Palladium Hotels, added: “We are over the moon to have been selected to host the Advantage 2024 conference and are so excited to be able to showcase our newest resort in Mexico, the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to take advantage of the whole resort, including seven à la carte restaurants, two show cooking restaurants and 24 bars, including the Xtra Time Sports Bar, and with Infinite Indulgence®, with everything included! There’s also the wonderful Zentropia spa, four pools, a stunning white powdery sand beach, lots of entertainment and activities to enjoy, as well as the Rafa Nadal Tennis academy.
“We know the value of when delegates can really immerse themselves in the location fully, so there will be plenty of opportunity to really get to know the resort and discover the three different brands of hotels within it: Grand Palladium, Family Selection and the TRS Coral Hotel. We feel extremely grateful that we have been given this amazing opportunity to host the Advantage conference. We can’t wait to welcome all of the team and the delegates to our beautiful resort.”
The resort opened in November 2018 and whilst a completely brand-new development, Palladium Hotel Group has maintained its ethos of sustainable tourism, executing extensive environmental studies to ensure minimal impact on the land, while maintaining the highest standard of quality at the properties.
Commenting on the choice of destination, Advantage member, Paul Hardwick, Director of Retail, Fred Olsen Travel, said: “I am thrilled Advantage is taking the event long-haul again and in Mexico they have picked a popular and thriving destination. I am particularly excited to see that they will be running events where delegates can ‘give back’ to the local community as part of the conference which is a great initiative.
James Beagrie, Managing Director, Meon Valley Travel, added: “Advantage is the conference of the year. It is memorable and supports business opportunity and relationships with a wide array of influential content and for 2024, an impressive sustainable twist. Each conference we attend gifts us something unexpected and new. South America has become a hub for foreign investment and business start-ups and as business transforms in the post Covid era, the need to keep on top of automation, innovation and supply becomes paramount. The travel ecosystems’ ability to promote sustainable recovery with all the right values and, the hospitality of Mexico as a destination will be the stuff of legend.”

The Advantage Travel Partnership has hailed the success of its annual Advantage Managed Services conference, which took place in Fuerteventura last week.
The event celebrated the 15th anniversary of the consortium’s AMS model as it brought together more than 50 delegates at the Tui Magic Life Fuerteventura resort, located on the second-largest of the Canary Islands.
Hosted by Tui and supported by Classic Collection, Fred Olsen and Vertical Systems, the conference featured a range of business sessions led by Advantage’s leadership team.
More: Advantage adds more than 50 branches over past year
The sessions focused on AMS business and technology strategies, while external consultant Helen Roberts conducted a workshop on developing high-performance teams and the importance of establishing a business mission and vision.
The agenda also included a panel discussion on growth opportunities through footprint expansion, homeworking and diversification into other travel-related sectors.
Delegates also had the chance to participate in speed dating sessions with sponsors and Advantage’s internal teams.
Paul Nunn, chief operating officer, said: “The conference provided numerous opportunities to learn, engage, and share our future plans with members.
“AMS continues to be our fastest-growing model, and it was great to have the opportunity to celebrate 15 years of AMS with members.”
The conference included a half-day excursion exploring the island and featured a ‘Travel is a Force for Good’ initiative, where delegates donated stationery to the local CEIP EI Ciervo Primary School. Francisco Antonio Garcia Perez, deputy head teacher, received the items on behalf of the school.
Kelly Cookes, chief commercial officer, said: “It was heartwarming to see our delegates enthusiastically bringing much-needed learning support materials to Fuerteventura for this school.
“The teachers and staff there were so appreciative.”
Karl Douglass, co-owner of Beverly Travel and an Advantage member operating under the AMS model, who attended the conference, said: “Our whole business is based on building relationships with our customers so that they trust us again and again.
“Being part of AMS allows us to focus on doing that, and it is vitally important we have strong relationships with the AMS team and our supplier partners.
“Being able to get together and experience new destinations, like we have at this conference, is the perfect way to achieve that.”

Our flagship annual conference for 2025 will be hosted in Malta and will further build upon our conference values with clear sustainable goals and showcase the power of travel as a force for good. The three-night event running from 13 to 16 May 2025, is being held in partnership with VisitMalta, and will once again have a strong bias on sustainability and ‘giving back’. The ever-popular immersive experiences will feature highly, giving delegates every opportunity to get to know the destination first-hand and what it offers the leisure and business traveller.
Julia lo bue-said, ceo, the advantage travel partnership, said:.
“ We are delighted to partner with Visit Malta for our 2025 conference and plan to raise the bar further on last year’s successful event. We last visited Malta in 2012 and are thrilled to be returning to a destination that has continued to see a great deal of investment and advancement in the last ten years, especially in reinventing itself to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
In Cancun, we showcased travel as a force for good for the first time. For our 2025 event, we will be even more ambitious not only with the business content of the conference but how we can further use philanthropic activities to deliver a positive impact to Malta and the people of Malta. "

The Advantage Travel Partnership 2023 Conference to be hosted in Spain

London, 6 October 2022: The Advantage Travel Partnership has announced today details for its annual 2023 conference and opened registration.
The three-night event will be hosted from Saturday 20 th to Tuesday 23 rd May 2023 at the luxury four-star Melia Villaitana in Benidorm and will welcome members and business partners from across the travel industry.
The resort has been designed in the form of a Mediterranean village and lies between two golf courses, designed by world leading golf course designers Nicklaus Design. It boasts wonderful views of the Gran Bahia of the Costa Blanca and has a unique architectural style, replicating picturesque squares and historic corners of the region, making the hotel an innovative experience and ideal for a business conference.
Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO, Advantage Travel Partnership, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest we’ve had to host our 2023 conference and received attractive proposals from a selection of both long and short-haul destinations. The calibre of proposals has made it a challenging decision on where to host next year’s event. However, with the current economic backdrop, staging the event somewhere close to home, that is accessible from regional airports, yet still inspiring and of high quality is exactly what our member steering groups have told us would be the right choice for next year. The Melia Villaitana is a beautiful resort and one that we are sure delegates will all want to experience.
“We will also be offering a range of immersive experiences for all delegates to enjoy, that will showcase everything the area has to offer. Delegates will also have the opportunity to explore the culture and gastronomy of the area, through an exciting range of activities that will form part of the conference programme, which will sit alongside relevant business and leisure travel content.”
Steven Esom, Chairman of The Advantage Travel Partnership, added: “I think Julia and the Advantage team has ‘read the room’ perfectly this year and chosen a destination that will suit members for a whole host of reasons, not least minimising costs to attend.
“Benidorm is a fantastic destination and has undergone a great deal of investment in recent years. The conference will give us all a great opportunity to see first-hand how the Spanish authorities have redeveloped this popular area of Spain. Our thanks to the Spanish Tourist Board and the regions of Valencia and Benidorm for their generous support in hosting our flagship event, and we look forward to working with them to make it a resounding success.”
Tony Mann, Managing Director of Idle Travel, said: “Its great news that next year’s conference is going to be on the Costa Blanca. Not only one of the most popular destinations for UK travellers but also easily accessible for all Advantage members and our business partners means for those who need a short time out of the office is kept to a minimum and for those who wish to extend their stay, the region has something for everyone.”
Manuel Butler, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office (UK) said: “We are delighted to bring the Advantage Travel Conference to Benidorm to showcase the true Benidorm - a dynamic compact city characterised by its tall buildings and bordered by 7km of sparkling Mediterranean coastline. In recent years, Benidorm has evolved as a destination and has invested heavily in a more efficient model of tourism sustainability. This includes the promotion of public transport and electric bikes, more efficient water management, 134km of new bike lanes and more than 9 km of extended pedestrianised areas. Likewise, the city boasts pretty palm-lined promenades and many stylish restaurants and resorts. We look forward to hosting the Advantage Travel Conference delegates and showcasing this unique destination.”
Gianni Salvadori Director of Sales Corporate and MICE UK&I and Italy continued: “On behalf of Melia Hotels International we are delighted to be taking part and hosting the Advantage Conference at Melia Villiatana, Alicante. We wish the event every success.”
Whilst the agenda and line up for the conference are still to be announced, Lo Bue-Said said that the content would be centred around collaboration, connectivity and creativity.
“Registration for members and business partners is now open, giving everyone an opportunity to plan ahead and ensure they don’t miss out on what is set to be another hugely successful event full of inspirational content and networking time with industry peers,” concluded Lo Bue-Said.
