* [========================] [[[ ]]] / / \ [ ++++ ++++++ ++++ ] // /KC\ [ [ ] [ ] [ ] ] // /===\ [ [ ] [ ] [ ] ] // //================================================]]] ( PRINCESS CAROLINE ]] \ ]] \\===============================================]]] Our crew of 4 (my sister, her husband and my husband at that time) picked up the Lady Caroline from Kris Cruisers to start our journey on the Thames River from Windsor to Oxford and back. Lady Caroline is 12 ft. wide and 36 ft. long and her color trims were brown/yellow with a white coating over the rest of the houseboat. Mapping out our plans to go through 25 locks and mooring along the way. The whole adventure was from May 23 to June 6. People in each town we stopped at were very friendly and most of our evening meals were in Pubs, the pubs allowed us to recharge our cell phones while dining, Pangbourne Tandoori had delish curries and to me, one of the best Indian food in England, hand carved (from trees) canes from a lock master in Chilton, antique shops, swans from Windsor (hundreds) following us along the waterways, saw my first Mandarin duck, rowing crew in Oxford as well as Eaton, visited the site where the Magna Carta was signed, women topless taking in the sun on top of their houseboats, spotted a handsome young naked man romping through the Queen's estate in Windsor and ran to hide when I waved to him with a "woo-weee" cheer! Just a written snapshot of my Summer ride on the Thames. Unforgettable!

Great service, comfortable and good condition boats and a thorough introduction to the boat and how it worked from Nathan. I definitely recommend this company for a boating hoilday and would hire a boat from them again. The Thames is beautiful too and we managed to get from Datchet to Abingdon and back very comfortably in a week, with lots of stop offs along the way at pubs/towns etc.

Kris Cruisers operates one of the largest fleets of boats on the River Thames with day boats seating from 2 to 12 people and a fleet of fully equipped luxury holiday cruisers sleeping between 2 and 10 people.

Holiday Cruisers

Holiday Cruisers can be hired from as little as a 3 or 4night short break to one week or more. There is 124 miles of the River Thames to discover from Teddington right up to Lechlade in Gloucestershire. Cruising the full length of the river you will pass through towns such as Hampton Court, Runnymede, Windsor, Henley, Goring, Abingdon and Oxford to name just a few. To cover the whole of the river, a minimum of 2 weeks is required. The rush of driving along busy roads, of queuing in congested towns will fade into the background as you travel at a gentle pace, your own pace, where the beauty of the surrounding scenery is something you and your party can see and enjoy. Whether you have a week, a day or just a few hours, relax, unwind and discover the hidden treasures of the River Thames with Kris Cruisers. Captaining your own boat has never been so easy.

Day Boats are available to book in advance Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays for the whole day and for a minimum of 4 hours Monday to Friday, May through to September. At all other times boats can be booked in advance for a minimum of 4 hours 7 days a week. We can sometimes offer you a booking outside this pattern within 48 hours, please phone with your enquiry. Boats can be hired on the day from as little as 1 hour to the whole day when available. During a day's cruising from Datchet, you will pass through Windsor, Eton, Monkey Island and a little way farther on Maidenhead, with its memories of Edwardian punting heydays. At the limit of your cruising range are Boulter's Lock taking you into Clivedon Reach, one of the prettiest reaches on the whole river. Throughout the greater part of your trip the Round Tower of Windsor Castle remains a still and familiar landmark. Downstream will bring you to historic Runnymede with its many associations. Magna Carta, the memorial to President Kennedy and atop Cooper's Hill, the one to the Commonwealth Air Forces. The River winds on past London Stone marking the former limit of jurisdiction of the City of London, down through Laleham to the busy town of Staines, Chertsey and Shepperton, the limit of a downstream cruise.

Kris Cruisers is a family-run business with over 50 years’ experience in boat hire. We currently have two generations of the Clark family working alongside many dedicated and long-serving members of staff. We are proud members of Visit England & British Marine National Boat Quality Grading Scheme.

We have 14 holiday boats to choose from and all of them have been awarded a grading of either 4 or 5 stars, and for the very best boats in our fleet with a superior finish, we call them our 5 Star Elite boats.

Maintained to the highest of standards, our fleet of full- equipped luxury holiday boats on the River Thames sleep from 2 to 10 people. You can explore the whole 124-mile length of the River Thames passing through towns such as Hampton Court, Cookham, Henley, Abingdon, Oxford and right up to Lechlade in Gloucestershire. They are available to hire from as little as £683 for a 3-night short break or from £975 for a 1-week holiday.

To complement our holiday boats, we have a fleet of 24 day boats seating from 2 to 12 people. Our day boats are fitted with a music system where you can connect your mobile or audio device via Bluetooth or Aux cable. We have both diesel and electric powered day boats and during a one day's cruise upstream, you will see Windsor Castle, Eton, Windsor Racecourse, before passing the village of Bray and a little way farther on Maidenhead with its memories of Edwardian punting heydays. At the limit of your cruising range are Boulter's Lock and the beech-wooded heights of Cliveden.

Throughout the greater part of your trip the Round Tower of Windsor Castle remains a still and familiar landmark. Cruising downstream will take you past historic Runnymede with its many associations: Magna Carta, the memorial to President Kennedy and, atop Cooper's Hill, the memorial to the Commonwealth Air Forces. The river winds on past the London Stone marking the former limit of jurisdiction of the City of London, down to the busy town of Staines and then on to Laleham where riverside homes and bungalows front the meadows which once surrounded Laleham Abbey.

Whether you are planning a pub or restaurant for lunch or packing your favourite food for a picnic on the riverbanks, our day boats are available to hire from as little as £35 for one hour to a whole day starting from £150 for up to 6 people. We are ideally positioned less than 1.5 miles from Windsor and a 10-minute taxi ride from Heathrow Airport.

FROM LONDON Take the M4 to Junction 5, at the roundabout take the Datchet turn-off following the Kris Cruisers brown & white signs along the B470 for 1¼ miles. Following the brown & white signs, cross the green in the centre of Datchet into the high street passing over the railway-crossing. Immediately beyond this at the "T" junction is Kris Cruisers Boatyard. FROM WINDSOR (1½ MILES) From below the castle, proceed along the B470 following the Kris Cruisers brown & white signs. The road passes the Home Park on your left and then crosses over the River Thames at Victoria Bridge. Kris Cruisers Boatyard is ¼ mile on your right opposite Datchet high street. FROM STAINES OR THE M25 (5 MILES) Leave the M25 at Junction 13, the Staines turn-off. Proceed along the A308 towards Windsor passing through Runnymede and Old Windsor. At the next roundabout take the last exit along the B3021 to Datchet following the Kris Cruisers brown & white signs. You will cross over the River Thames at Albert Bridge and Kris Cruisers Boatyard is 1½ miles on your left opposite Datchet high street.

Public Transport Directions

Train services run from Waterloo Station, London, every 30 minutes during the day. Journey time is approximately 45 minutes. Turn left out of the station into Datchet high street and Kris Cruisers Boatyard is 100 metres in front of you.

Welcome to Kris Cruisers

We have been operating for 40 years now, offering river cruises from our location at Datchet Marina on the Thames. Our superb fleet of self-drive motor cruisers are available for short breaks to one week, or even longer. We are a family run business and offer a friendly and professional service, as well as our expertise and advice to make sure you have a wonderful and unforgettable holiday. Our fantastic location means you can explore the whole length of the River Thames from Teddington up to Lechlade in Gloucestershire. Possible places to see on your holiday, depending on what route you choose, include Windsor, Henley, Oxford and many other picturesque towns and villages along the river. There are even attractions such as Legoland and Thorpe Park which will make a great family day out.

Don´t worry if it´s your first time on a boat, our friendly and helpful staff will give you all of the instruction and advice you need so you feel confident and relaxed when you set off on your holiday.

We have a great choice of 14 cruisers for you to choose from, ranging in size from 29ft, 2 berth motor cruisers to a 48ft, 10 berth motor cruiser. We invest in our fleet, purchasing new boats or upgrading to make sure we have the most modern and comfortable fleet on the Thames.

Chris Pine Says He Grew Up Idolizing Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman (Exclusive)

The actor also named Lee Marvin and Walter Brennan among some of his early influences

As a burgeoning actor, Chris Pine had his sights set high.

Speaking with PEOPLE on Wednesday, April 24, at the premiere of his directorial debut Poolman in Los Angeles, the 43-year-old named several actors who got their start in Hollywood before him who he looked up to when he was growing up.

"I remember being 8 years old and dressing up in a fedora and a three-piece suit and pretending to be a character in Bugsy Malone . Or taking a pencil and pretending I was Tom Cruise in Top Gun ," Pine says. "So all of the business appealed to me and all the characters."

"But certainly ... I guess I simultaneously wanted to be Harrison Ford and also wanted to be like Gary Oldman or Lee Marvin , or Walter Brennan," he adds.

Set in Los Angeles, Poolman follows pool attendee Darren Barrenman (Pine), "a native Los Angeleno who spends his days looking after the pool of the Tahitian Tiki apartment block and fighting to make his hometown a better place to live," according to a synopsis of the film, which Pine also co-wrote.

"When he is tasked by a femme fatale to uncover the truth behind a shady business deal, Darren enlists the help of his friends to take on a corrupt politician and a greedy land developer," the synopsis adds. "His investigation reveals a hidden truth about his beloved city and himself."  

Pine recalled to PEOPLE at Wednesday's premiere how he "grew up in a specific kind of L.A. that was kind of on the Boulevard of Dreams and kind of on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

"I saw the highs and lows of the industry. And I grew up around people that were living the dream and people that desperately wanted to be in the dream," he says. "So it's no accident that everybody in this film, even the bad guy, was a musical-theater major that came out here to do a pilot."

"My girlfriend [in the movie] was once on Melrose Place and is now a Pilates instructor, and my best friend Jack Dennisoff, [played by] Danny DeVito , is a B-movie horror director that never really made it," Pine continues. "So this is really my tribute to that part of Los Angeles."

That doesn't mean the city doesn't have its downsides for him — in fact, he tells PEOPLE that what "frustrates" him about L.A. is "everything."

"The fact that we don't have above-ground public transportation, that the red cars were ripped out, that we don't really have a deep appreciation for some of the fabulous architecture that we have here, that we're building buildings right now that I feel like are built for practicality more than they are in the spirit of beauty," the Wonder Woman actor explains.

"That disappoints me, but it is my home," Pine adds.

Poolman hits theaters May 10.
