Holiday Park Military - Lewis McChord Base

For those with military base access, the travel camp is open year-round. We have 48 full hook-up sites with cable television and currently five tent sites. Our campground is located on the shores of beautiful American Lake. For your convenience our campground has common areas that offer lounge areas with color television, coin operated washers and dryers and restrooms with shower facilities. On-site we have a sewage dump station for patron use. All full hook-up sites have individual sewer as well.

Campground was alright. Lots of full time airmen and soldiers. They have to move sights every week or so. That being said, there is lots of movement. Cell signal is very weak for t-mobile and trees prevent starlink from working well.

Close to Seattle

To a military ID card holder, you won't find a better deal. Full hookups, sites are a bit close, but the campground loop makes it feel spacious. Clean showers. There is no wifi unless your at the camp office.

NW Adventure Center

Excellent location for those with military access to the base - active duty, retired or family. 30/50 amp hookups. Beautiful views of American Lake. Pet friendly.

American Lake Camp Ground (JBLM)

Good little camp ground on post with almost everything you need. It is in the wilderness, on the lake, but it is also fairly close to stores and gas stations. Long term max is 28 days per spot. All hookups available trash laundry showers bathrooms fire pits as well as grills all in each spot

Great place

Great for those with base access. The tent camp sites were private enough and the laundry and running water/showers were a huge plus!

Nice lake if you have someone that can get you on base

We didn't camp here but we did come for a day trip at the lake. I had a going-away party here and we had a secluded picnic spot and a private piece of the lake to put in inner-tubes. Great experience, but you have to know someone that can get you there :)

JBLM Lakefront cabins

Fish, boat and chill without leaving post.

Escape the business of everyday life with a relaxing getaway on the shores of American Lake. Joint Base Lewis-McChord's Northwest Adventure Center has 10 log cabins available for rent year-round -- all with unobstructed views of the lake.

Studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom cabins are available from $85 to $160 a night. The three-bedroom sleeps eight and features a gas fireplace. The two-bedroom accommodates up to six with a queen bed in one room and two twin bunks in another. The one-bedroom sleeps four with a separate bedroom and sofa bed, and the studio sleeps two.

Cabins have a dining area; full bathroom with towel service; and full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, pots, pans and service for four. Wood-paneled walls and lodge-pole furniture create a cozy retreat that feels just right for enjoying the great outdoors.

Drive or ride bikes to nearby Summer Cove or Shoreline Park to take a dip or let the kids burn energy at a playground. Summer Cove is a waterfront park with a shallow wading area, sandy beach and huge playground. Shoreline Park has a swimming area with a floating dock, volleyball court and small playground. Adult bicycles are available to check out free of charge.

If rain falls and indoor activities become necessary, the cabins have a television, basic cable and DVD player. Of course, you can always go old school with board games and charades. Spend lazy evenings sitting on the deck and cooking up dinner on the outdoor grill. Fire pits can be rented to top off the night with a campfire and s'mores.

"Our cabins are a great spot for families to come relax and enjoy all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer without leaving post," said Abigail Crosby, JBLM Northwest Adventure Center operations manager. "The cabins are very popular with our military families, and we're often booked to capacity. Cabins can be reserved three months in advance of the first night of stay. I definitely recommend booking 90 days out."

Reserve cabins by calling the Northwest Adventure Center at 253.967.7744 or book online at Www.jblm.armymwr.com and use the MWR Online Registration WebTrac. A one-night deposit is due at the time of reservation. All cabins are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out at 10 a.m.

If you prefer to rough it a bit more, a lakefront campground offers five tent sites and 48 full hook-up sites.

The Northwest Adventure Center also offers trips, including sea kayaking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing and more. Camping trailers, tents, boats, stoves, grills and fishing equipment are available to rent, and the retail store stocks a wide variety of outdoor equipment and apparel.

Holiday Park is a nine acre area that contains FamCamp, the Pavilion and a private Scouting area. It has covered picnic shelters, tables, and grills. Holiday Park is open to all McChord patrons on a first come, first served basis for all picnic shelters.

American handed a 15-day sentence by a moscow court on charges of disorderly conduct.

MOSCOW – A court in the Russian capital on Wednesday handed a 15-day sentence to a U.S. citizen on charges of minor disorderly conduct.

Moscow's District Court ordered the American, identified as Joseph Tater, to spend 15 days under administrative arrest on "petty hooliganism" charges.

Earlier Wednesday, Russia's Investigative Committee, the country's top criminal investigation agency, said that it had opened a criminal case against an unidentified U.S. citizen accused of attacking a police officer.

Russian state news agencies Tass and RIA-Novosti said that the American became abusive after being asked to show his documents at an upscale hotel on Monday evening. They claimed that the American “behaved aggressively” and used profanities when the hotel refused to accommodate him, citing a lack of required documents. The reports said that the man attacked a police officer when he was taken to a police precinct.

Officials at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow said they were aware of the reports, but wouldn't make further comments because of privacy restrictions.

Several Americans are serving sentences in Russia on drug or theft convictions.

A U.S.-Russian dual national, Ksenia Khavana, is expected to be sentenced on Thursday after pleading guilty in a closed trial to raising money for Ukraine's military. Prosecutors called for a 15-year term.

In the largest Russia-West prisoner exchange since the end of the Cold War, Russia this month released Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and American corporate security executive Paul Whelan, both of whom were imprisoned on espionage convictions. Russia also released U.S.-Russian dual national Alsu Kurmasheva, a Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe journalist sentenced to 6½ years for spreading “false information” about the Russian military.

US senator calls on retired F-16 pilots to come 'fight for freedom' in Ukraine after meeting with Zelenskyy

• Ukraine is finally operating F-16s, but President Zelenskyy said Kyiv lacks trained pilots.
• With this in mind, a US lawmaker is urging retired F-16 pilots from the West to go to Ukraine.
• "They will hire you here," Sen. Lindsey Graham said during a visit to Ukraine this week.

A US senator who recently visited Ukraine has issued a call for retired F-16 pilots to join Kyiv's air force, where they can fly the American-made aircraft in a "fight for freedom" against Russia.

Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal met on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who told the lawmakers that he wants to establish a program to enlist retired F-16 pilots from NATO countries to help strengthen his country's air force.

"We support this effort," the senators said in a joint statement on their trip published on Monday. "Ukraine is already fielding units of freedom fighters on the ground, and this volunteer force should be replicated in the air."

After a long wait, Ukraine finally received its first F-16s a few weeks ago. Zelenskyy unveiled the fighter jets at a public event at the start of August, calling the much-celebrated arrival of the aircraft a "new phase of development" for Kyiv's air force.

But Ukraine didn't receive many F-16s in the initial delivery, and Zelenskyy has cautioned that the country lacks enough trained pilots to fly the aircraft. With this in mind, Graham, who served for years in the US Air Force, put out a call to Western pilots who have already received training on the fighter jet.

"If you're a retired F-16 pilot and you're looking to fight for freedom, they will hire you here," the South Carolina senator said at a press conference during his visit to Ukraine. "They're going to look throughout NATO nations for willing fighter pilots who retired to come help them until they can get their pilots trained."

"We're going to get these jets in the air sooner rather than later, and we are looking for pilots who are willing fight for freedom as the Ukrainians train their own pilots," he said.

Western fighters, including veterans, have traveled to Ukraine to help support its efforts against Russia throughout the war, helping in training roles and front-line combat operations. Graham and Blumenthal are seeking to expand this aspect of the war into the skies now that Kyiv is finally operating Western aircraft.

Meanwhile, the two senators also called on the Biden administration to lift restrictions on Kyiv using US-provided weapons to strike inside Russian territory, especially long-range missiles.

Ukrainian officials have long pressed Washington to drop these restrictions, which Kyiv argues have prevented its military from effectively battling back Moscow's forces.

During his nightly address to the nation on Monday, Zelenskyy shared that he had discussed these efforts with the US senators.

"I expressed my gratitude to America for its support in our defense," Zelenskyy said of his meeting with Graham and Blumenthal. "It is crucial that both Ukrainians and Americans emerge truly victorious in this shared defense of a normal life and people's freedom."

"We discussed what is specifically needed to bring this war to a just end," he added, saying he "thoroughly explained our need for long-range capabilities."

Rob Schneider seeks forgiveness from daughter Elle King after 'fat camp' claims

Rob Schneider is fessing up to his shortcomings after oldest daughter Elle King accused him of being absent during her childhood and sending her to "fat camp."

In a clip from an upcoming interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson , which will be released Thursday, the 60-year-old actor and comedian apologized to King, 35.

"I just want to tell my daughter: Elle, I love you, and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn't. I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings," Schneider said straight to the camera. "I love you completely. I love you entirely, and I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky.

"I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally."

The "Saturday Night Live" alum's comments come days after Bunnie XO 's "Dumb Blonde" podcast released a clip from an interview in which King opened up about being at odds with her dad since childhood.

Elle King remembers summers with Rob Schneider: 'He would forget he had me'

In the full "Dumb Blonde" episode , released Monday, King opened up to Bunnie, who is Jelly Roll 's wife, about how she and Schneider didn't connect "until I was much, much older."

"My dad and my relationship is, like, a real big ebb and flow. Right now, we're not flowing. I disagree with a lot of the things he says. You can want someone to change so much, and ultimately you can't control anyone else's actions; you can't people's feelings," she said. "All you can control is how you react and what you do with your feelings."

King recalled the few summers she spent with her dad instead of her grandparents in Ohio.

One year, she joined Schneider as he filmed "a prison movie" in Stockton, California. At the time, King had already started her tattoo collection, and as a result had to wear sweaters in 108-degree weather because Schneider was "very anti-tattoos or, like, any form of self-expression that differed from what he wanted for me."

She added, "Not that he ever thought about me."

King also claimed she would "get in so much trouble if I ever messed up a shot." When she was younger, she starred in her dad's 1999 movie "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo."

The "Ex's & Oh's" singer went on to share that, fed up with her 14-year-old rebellious attitude, her mom sent King off to stay with her dad while he was in Amsterdam for work. She was looked after by a nanny and a tutor that summer.

"Anytime my dad would have me on a trip, he would, like, forget that he had me because he's not a great planner," King said before detailing a trip to Moscow where a security guard kept her entertained for a full day.

King's mom is former actress and model London King, who split with Schneider in 1990. Schneider and his current wife, Patricia Schneider, have two children together: 11-year-old Miranda Scarlett Schneider and 7-year-old Madeline Robbie Schneider.

"Both of my parents had their obsessions with eating," King revealed.

For two summers as a pre-teen, King said, Schneider sent her to "fat camp," where children were served "a slice of turkey and steamed vegetables for every meal" and worked out "all day long."

"The 'F-word' is so triggering for me," King said after Bunnie questioned, "Is it OK to call it a 'fat camp?'"

"It got to a point where I didn't want to spend the summer with him," King later said.

Harkening back to the beginning of her music career, King discussed feeling like she doesn't benefit from nepotism.

"He never helped me; I never wanted his help. He also didn't have a very good reputation," she said of Schneider. "That was really it. It wasn't even, like, 'I've got to pave my own way.' I was like, 'I don't want to be associated with him.' I'm going to get in trouble for saying that, but I don't really care."

King, whose debut album "Love Stuff" was released in 2015, recalled moving to LA and playing shows as an unsigned artist. As her career started gaining traction, King said, her dad was not involved.

"Honestly, I didn't talk to my dad. I go four, five years without talking to my dad," she said. "When I put out my record and people finally started asking about my dad, my dad called me and was like, 'Don't ... talk about me in the press!' Like, all right."

"I don't care," she added. "Listen, people have asked me about ... (Schneider) for years. You're talking out of your ass. You're talking (expletive) about drag and ... anti-gay rights."

"I want to take this opportunity to say: I disagree. I do not agree with what he says. I believe in all forms of love, and I believe in anyone finding their happiness and their joy in whatever way, whatever capacity that is. There are no politics when it comes to love; that's it."

"I'm very proud," she said of her career. Having opened up about postpartum depression and having OCD that manifests in "mild Tourette's," King added, "I'm healthier than I've ever been; my brain is good."
