Ariana Grande's Sweetener tour setlist includes her biggest hits and multiple fan favourites...

Ariana Grande kicked off her Sweetener World Tour on March 18 in Albany, New York in true Ariana fashion. Hits on hits on hits, show-stopping costumes, choreography for the gawds and vocals like you've never heard before.

She also includes a moving tribute to Mac Miller just before she comes on stage, playing his music in the arena to all of her waiting fans.

But what's on the setlist? While most of Ari's setlist contains tracks from the two albums she's released in the past year ( Sweetener and thank u, next ), there's also huge hits from Dangerous Woman, My Everything and Yours Truly - spanning her entire career.

What songs does Ariana Grande play on the Sweetener World Tour?

Ariana Grande Sweetener Tour setlist

Ariana Grande Sweetener Tour Set List:

1. raindrops (an angel cried) 2. God is a woman 3. bad idea 4. break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored 5. R.E.M. 6. be alright 7. sweetener 8. successful 9. Side to Side 10. bloodline 11. 7 rings 12. Love Me Harder 13. breathin' 14. needy 15. fake smile 16. make up 17. Right There 18. You’ll Never Know 19. Break Your Heart Right Back 20. NASA 21. goodnight 'n go 22. in my head (Interlude) 23. everytime 24. One Last Time 25. the light is coming 26. Into You 27. Dangerous Woman 28. Break Free 29. no tears left to cry 30. thank u, next

(Ariana also performed a cover of Frank Ocean's 'Close To You' during night one, bringing the total to 31 songs...)

Of course, this is what's been reported by fans from the first tour stop. Some songs may be part of medleys or just included in the line-up as interludes. The set list may also vary depending on dates, locations and legs of the tour.

But it's a pretty impressive selection of songs, right?! 30 tracks?! Whew! Ariana includes 10 tracks from thank u, next , 10 tracks from sweetener , 4 tracks from Dangerous Woman , 4 tracks from My Everything and 2 tracks from Yours Truly .

There are, of course, one or two notable songs missing (two of Ariana’s biggest hits 'Bang Bang' and ‘Problem’ didn’t make the cut) but fans are actually living for it. Ariana has mentioned many times before that she is tired of performing ‘Bang Bang’, so fans are relieved and happy to see her perform the songs that she truly loves.

Everyone is absolutely losing it over the setlist...

Ariana previously revealed that she would not be performing certain songs on the tour, because they are still too raw for her to perform live. Ariana previously tweeted that 'ghostin' was left out so that she can " make it thru the show ".

if i can get thru it yea but right now it’s not on the set list. i jus want to have a good time with y’all and like .... make it thru the show lol. love u sm. thank u for showing this song so much love. it means a great deal. #thankunext https://t.co/88QobiegEh — Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) February 8, 2019

Ariana Grande Closes Sweetener World Tour in Los Angeles With Tears and Hits Aplenty

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande  didn’t even make it to the end of her first song at Sunday night’s (Dec. 22) Los Angeles Forum show before breaking down in tears.

It’s not hard to understand why. The set — the second of a two-night stand marking the end of her Sweetener World Tour — marks the close of a remarkable period in Grande’s life and career. It was her first major outing since the horrific terrorist attack in Manchester in May 2017, but it also coincided with an imperial period in her creativity.

Both 2018’s  Sweetener , and this year’s follow-up  Thank U, Next  earned her five Billboard Top 10 hits, six Grammy nods, carried her to a headlining Coachella performance, and established her as an icon. So you can understand her getting emotional at the close of such an astonishing chapter (which is also documented with a just-released live album, K Bye For Now [SWT Live] ).

“I can’t begin to express how much joy this experience has bought me,” she told the crowd during the show, stopping to give exten?ded shout-outs to her band, crew, and naturally, the ever-loyal Arianators. “This year would not have gone the way it did without you.” The feeling was obviously mutual, as following the finale of “Thank U, Next,” her dancers gifted her a giant bouquet of flowers and enveloped the Florida-born singer in a group hug.

The emotion was an added element to a slick live production that frequently illustrated why the 26-year-old is at the peak of her powers.

Here are five takeaways from the final night — and the Sweetener World Tour, overall.

The Last Supper gets some special sauce

There’s nothing new about pop artists giving religion a sexually charged revision (hi, Madge!) but Grande’s has certainly added her own unique spin on the Last Supper. Just two songs in, she and her cabal of dancers surround a long table, grinding and gyrating their way through “Bad Idea” in a delightfully blasphemous way. Anyone who saw the Sweetener World Tour will likely never look at Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece in quite the same way again.

Less is more

The Ariana of old seemed desperate to lead with her voice, showing off her four-octave range as often as possible. While her belting prowess still emerged during songs such as “Sweetener” and a powerful “Dangerous Woman,” she now uses her most devastating weapon with a near-expert discretion — making it all the more effective.

Dance Ari, dance Ari, dance Ari, oh-oh oh!

Despite teetering around the stage and the U-shaped runway in impractical platform boots that make you think she’s always perilously close to taking a tumble, Grande barely missed a step of her tightly choreographed routines, including the energetic dance breakdowns during “Side To Side” and “7 Rings.” It’s a swagger and grace she’s worked exceptionally hard to achieve.

Ariana Grande Breaks HeadCount Voter Registration Record: 'Thank U So Much for Investing in Our…

Hits for days

The beauty of watching Grande at the end of the Sweetener World Tour is that it no longer feels like an exercise in promoting her new work. Relatively recent songs such as “Breathin” and “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” already feel like classics and have been embedded into pop history, and that’s to say nothing of earlier gems such as “Honeymoon Avenue” or the still-sizzling “Into You.” For an act in her mid-20s, it’s remarkable how deep her catalogue already goes.

Christmas time is Ariana’s time

As fans of her Christmas EPs know, Grande takes Festivus pretty seriously and honored the season with a medley of her yuletide ditties — including the much-underrated “Santa Tell Me,” which was lapped up by the crowd, and marked by a giant descending bauble and a huge snow storm. (It took Mariah 25 years to top the charts with “All I Want For Christmas is You,” so don’t bet against Ari becoming a future Queen of Christmas.)

Concert Review: Ariana Grande Transforms Arena Into a Curvy, Space-Age Nightclub

Much more than at Coachella, her visually experimental Staples stop was revealed as a thing of inventive beauty, not to mention expertly sung fun.

ALBANY, NEW YORK - MARCH 18: Ariana Grande performs onstage during the Sweetener World Tour - Opening Night at Times Union Center on March 18, 2019 in Albany, New York. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Ariana Grande)

Whatever else it may be, Ariana Grande ’s Sweetener World Tour is not a “get to know your superstar” affair. On record, Grande has ably followed Taylor Swift down the trail of openly autobiographical pop… but that’s on record. In concert, she couldn’t be less Swiftian. Audience interaction and between-song commentary are at a minimum. There are no roaring lulls where performer and fans bask together in how far they’ve all come together. If you’ve come to hear monologs about how the last couple of years have gone for Grande (and wouldn’t we all love to get an earful on that?), boy, have you come to the wrong place.

But you’ve come to the right place if you want a pop show that’s giddy, splendorous, beautifully designed, expertly performed and almost a little bit avant-garde in its staging. If you’re willing to swap all the personal asides you might expect out of a typical pop-diva show for something that’s more of an experimental visual art piece that happens to include terrifically fun songs and performances, it’s not such a bad tradeoff. At the very least, if you were at Staples Center Monday for the first of her three L.A.-area appearances, you walked away knowing you’d just witnessed something that, design-wise, you’d never exactly seen before.

You definitely didn’t see it if you “saw” her shows at Coachella in April, either in person or live-streamed — as all the tweeted cries of “Turn on the lights!” made clear at the time. Your eyes, your computer screen or the big screens in Indio did not need adjusting: The show really is that dark. That’s an artistic choice, not an energy-savings decision, made by Grande herself, whose production and lighting designer, Leroy Bennett , recently explained to Variety that the singer prefers to blend in with her environment on stage (or on TV) rather that be spotlit to stand out. Hers is an intensely colorful show, but using hues as dim as Swift’s are bright in the “ME!” video. All those deeply muted pinks and purples made it impossible to separate her from her dancers or guest stars from across that giant field in Indio.

Popular on Variety

But suspicions that this design would look a lot more impressive within the relatively intimate confines of an arena were confirmed at Staples Center, where some added production elements that weren’t possible in a festival setting also came into play. There is method to her underlighting madness, after all: In its native setting, he show is a thing of constantly surprising visual beguilement. Suddenly, Donna Summer’s “dim all the lights, sweet darling” seems like fine advice.

That Grande wants to put a dimmer on everything is a show of alpha-female strength: She trusts that you know and like her enough that you’ll take the effort to pick her out of the colorful tableau from all the other choreography on stage. But that is a challenge for the first three numbers. After an off-stage a cappella rendition of “Raindrops (An Angel Cried),” we first spot Grande — or don’t! — as she and a cast of dancer-disciples appear behind a long table, Last Supper-style, for “God is a Woman.” There they stay for “Bad Idea,” in which couples start pairing off… and Grande pushes away a man at one end of the banquet table, only to end the song by embracing a woman at the other end. (Giving up on men and switching teams is a good idea, this production number seems to conclude.) Most of the dancers drop away and Grande comes more into focus as she’s left with just one suitor for “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” the conclusion of the show’s opening erotic-city trilogy.

After a brief video interlude masking a changeover, the real scope of the design started to become apparent. For “R.E.M.,” one of the highlights of last year’s “Sweetener” album, torrents of water not only came down the big screen behind the stage — as they did at Coachella — but cascaded across the ramp enclosure that extended more than halfway out onto the arena’s floor level. It was a startling effect … with the projection effect only partly visible to anyone who was actually at floor level, but we all live with our choices in life and shows. Also unique to the non-festival version of the tour is an overhead half-globe, mirroring the one attached to the rear screen, that late into the show drops down and reveals itself as a full planet, just in time for the latest album’s “NASA.” Different kinds of real or sci-fi starfields appeared as Grande corrected Kubrick and assured everyone in song that her personal, sexual space is the ultimate trip.

The effects got headier: Giant silhouetted bodies appeared in both globes. Lest anyone think that Grande is married to vivid colors and doesn’t do monochrome, a trippy, animated kaleidoscopic effect was rendered in pure black-and-white. Some of this design would have been perfectly appropriate for a Pink Floyd show, or for whichever member might be currently out reviving “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.” But under or amid it all, Grande cuts a very un-Roger-Waters-esque figure… not so energized that she won’t just take a seat with her dancers at the lip of the stage when the balladic mood requires it, but also gaily skipping across that ramp when the choices start sounding like trap and house music again.

Even the ramp feels inventive, in a slight way — that platform that envelops the SRO pit is vaguely in a V shape, but a very inexact, curvy V shape, because there are no straight lines in this very feminine design. The ramp also comes with its own trap doors, so dancers can pop in and out; it’s virtually impossible to count how many dancers Grande does employ, since there are such different numbers of them from song to song. For the encore number, “Thank U, Next,” Grande did jubilant laps around that stage extension with just her female dancers in tow, presumably to reinforce the lyrical theme that living without a man in her life for a while is just fine. And then the guy dancers finally popped out from below to join them for the finale, too, because what’s inclusion without boys allowed?

For anyone who wants a closer-up view of these artsy proceedings, there are a couple of “big screens” as part of the production, but these two ovals above the stage on either side really aren’t that big, by arena standards — it’s kind of one step up from looking through Kanye’s keyhole. Having made that concession, Grande would still rather compel you to look at the entire landscape… which may take some adjusting for audiences that have never experienced a concert through any other means than going to the arena and staring at the camera feed the entire time. (Anyone who really wants close-ups of Grande’s expressions is going to have to do what concertgoers of the ‘60s, ‘70s and partly ‘80s did: invest in binoculars.)

The Sweetener Tour doesn’t just skate by on mass skipping and innovative production design. She’s singing live, from all indications (and you may end up thinking about how she kind of threw herself under the bus with her “everybody does it”-themed tweets defending pal Justin Bieber’s lip-synch). The four-piece band, while augmented, was giving all this material a determinedly live backbeat, too, with actual drum fills and… what’s this, kids?… piano and guitar solos along the way. One of Grande’s best attributes is how little she cares about showing off, vocally — the songs are so compact that she’s almost forced to sneak the melisma in.

But the entire show has that strength of economy, working 30 songs into 95 minutes by shortening nearly all of them… which can be frustrating, when even the best of them end sooner than you’d expect or like, until you develop faith that what quickly follows will be just as worthy. The set could really stand to be expanded by another 15 or 20 minutes, which wouldn’t be rough if she, say, lost one out of two opening acts — but there’s some wisdom in the way this show rushes through its paces without unnecessary lingering. It ends up being one semi-long mood-piece medley, comprising the audio part of a show that’s built to look like a mood ring.

What really gets squeezed out, quite deliberately, in this steady clip is those aforementioned personal moments. Early in the tour, Grande was seen to cry before or during “No Tears Left to Cry,” which satisfied the need an audience might have for being reassured that she’s really in the moment. But a little further along into it, the woman who sings about not wanting to put on a “Fake Smile” isn’t about to give her audience fake tears, or phony anything. Grande leaving her confessions on the record and getting to the visceral dazzle seems like a feature, not a flaw, of this tour. Exuberant execution of a fascinating and challenging design ethos counts as an emotion, too, or should. With a show this visually and musically engaging — pop-soul set in a female-centric, sci-fi variant of a woozy nightclub — she’s not obligated to wear her heart out on her thigh-high boot.

Grande performs again at the Staples Center Tuesday night, with a move over to the Forum in Inglewood Friday.

Is Ariana Grande going on tour in 2024? Here's what she's said about an Eternal Sunshine tour

Ariana Grande opens up about her new album Eternal Sunshine

Everything we know about Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine Tour tickets, prices, presale, dates and setlist so far.

Listen to this article

I'm so into the idea of seeing Ariana Grande do an Eternal Sunshine tour this year, I can barely breathe...but is it happening?

Last time Ariana Grande released an album, it was the pandemic and she told Zach Sang that she had no interest in touring Positions until it was safe to do so. She said that she didn't want to put her fans in any danger. Ariana also teased that she liked touring Sweetener and Thank U, Next together and likely wouldn't do another tour until she had another album out.

Fast forward to 2024 and the Eternal Sunshine era is officially in full swing. Is Ariana Grande going on tour this year though? If she is, what are the tour dates, locations, ticket prices and presale codes? Here's what Ariana has said about it so far.

When is Ariana Grande going on tour?

Ariana Grande Tour 2024: Tickets, prices, presale, dates, setlist and everything we know

Will there be an Eternal Sunshine tour?

Talking to Zach Sang about a potential Eternal Sunshine tour in February 2024, Ariana said: "I would love to do shows. I love being on stage. I miss being on stage. I miss my fans so much. That's the honest to god truth."

However, Ariana then admitted that she struggled with touring in 2019. She said: "I had a really hard time emotionally on my last tour but I think that's because of where I was at. Just like with music, I'm really excited to redefine my relationship to shows when I'm ready and to see what that looks like."

As for if there's time in 2024, Ariana added: "I do have a very busy year with this [album] and with Wicked , and then next year I also have Wicked Part Two . I'm interested to see what that would look like. It would obviously be shorter if it were anything it would be a littler something."

Ariana ended by saying: "I definitely do have the itch. But then again, I’m not ready to announce any sort of thing, or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint."

With this in mind, it appears that no tour is currently set in stone. However, Ariana may still do a small run of shows so bookmark this page for updates.

Ariana Grande tour presale codes: How to find a presale code for your country

As it stands, Ariana has said nothing official about a tour so far. A couple of fan tweets have gone viral suggesting that there is a tour presale access code in her website coding but these all appear to be fake with fans simply using it as a way to encourage people to preorder Ariana's album. Nevertheless, if a tour happens, there will likely be a presale.

If Ariana follows in the footsteps of artists like Beyoncé , Taylor Swift and Harry Styles , she will probably have a Citi Verified Fan Presale in the US and an O2 Priority Presale in the UK. There may also be separate Live Nation and fan presales.

If Ariana does announce a tour, it would be wise to sign up to her mailing list to get any presale information as soon as it becomes available.

Ariana Grande tour ticket prices: How much will the tickets be?

Prices for an Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour will likely depend on what kind of venues she performs in. Tickets for her last arena tour cost between $35 and $225. Based on her telling Zach Sang, she'd like to do something smaller, there's a chance that venues will be smaller and tickets will be more expensive.

Ariana Grande tour presale codes: How to find a presale code for your country

Eternal Sunshine Tour dates: When is Ariana Grande going on tour in 2024?

Again, there's no news yet on whether Ariana is touring this year so no dates are currently available. If she does tour in any capacity it will have to take place before official promotion for Wicked starts. Wicked comes out in cinemas worldwide on November 27th. Taking this into consideration, any tour would likely wrap before November.

Ariana Grande tour locations: What cities will Ariana Grande play in?

While I think we would all like an Eternal Sunshine world tour, Ariana's Zach comments suggest that whatever she does for Eternal Sunshine will be on a much smaller scale than Sweetener.

With this in mind, it's unlikely that there will be shows outside of the US but she could have a livestream or filmed show planned.

Eternal Sunshine Tour dates: When is Ariana Grande going on tour in 2024?

Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Without any tour announcements, there's no knowing what songs Ariana Grande would perform on an Eternal Sunshine tour at the moment. Nevertheless, Ariana tends to heavily feature her recent projects in live shows, so expect lots of songs from Eternal Sunshine and Positions to feature alongside her biggest hits.

If Ariana does one-off Eternal Sunshine shows, it's also possible that she will opt to perform the album in full instead of a more traditional setlist.

10 Surprise Celeb Performances At Coachella 2024

From Billie Eilish to Olivia Rodrigo, many artists found their way onto the Coachella lineup.

The best part of Coachella wasn’t even part of the lineup. It was the surprise performances from celebrities who popped up onstage throughout the music festival from April 12 to 14.

Lana Del Rey , Doja Cat , and Tyler, the Creator headlined the 2024 event, with notable performers including Ice Spice, J Balvin, Lil Uzi Vert, Sabrina Carpenter , Renée Rapp, Victoria Monét, and the No Doubt reunion. Many pulled out all the stops and had surprises up their sleeve, with artists like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo , and Justin Bieber coming out to perform.

While she didn’t get on stage, even Taylor Swift joined in on the fun, jamming out in the audience to her friend Ice Spice and supporting her collaborator Jack Antonoff from backstage as he performed with Bleachers. (Sadly, the Queen of Coachella, Vanessa Hudgens , was not present this year, likely due to her pregnancy.)

In case you missed out, read on for the 10 most surprising celeb guest performances from Coachella 2024.

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish performs at Coachella.

Coachella’s surprises started off strong when Billie Eilish made a guest appearance during Lana Del Rey’s headlining set on Friday night. In a sweet gesture, the two duetted on their first singles, starting with Eilish’s 2017 breakout song “Ocean Eyes” before going into Del Rey’s 2011 debut hit “Video Games,” both of them sounding at home on each other’s songs.

The next day, Eilish emerged again by doing a surprise DJ set at the festival’s DoLab, where she previewed new songs from her upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft .

Shakira performs with Bizarrap at Coachella

Across the Polo Fields, Shakira joined Argentine DJ Bizarrap on the Sahara Stage to perform their two collaborations. She also used this opportunity to announce that she was going on a world tour, which will kick off in November.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton at Neon Carnival held during Coachella

Vampire Weekend was already a surprise addition to the Coachella lineup, but the band themselves had a very unexpected guest in store. During their Saturday afternoon set, Paris Hilton went on stage to... play cornhole. (Yes, really). It was a fun moment, but “Stars Are Blind” deserved a performance.

Olivia Rodrigo

Gwen Stefani of No Doubt and Olivia Rodrigo perform at Coachella

Olivia Rodrigo’s just a girl. No Doubt celebrated their first show in nine years by having Gwen Stefani bring out Rodrigo to perform their 2000 hit “Bathwater.” This was a full-circle moment for Rodrigo, who named “Bathwater” as one of her 18 favorite songs for her 18th birthday in 2021 and praised Stefani for her “honest” songwriting.

Childish Gambino

Donald Glover at the Tyler the Creator LV Men's Launch

After Donald Glover supported the launch of Tyler, the Creator’s collection with Louis Vuitton, he brought his music persona, Childish Gambino, to support Tyler’s headlining set at Coachella. He joined the rapper onstage for “Running Out of Time.”

Nelly Furtado

Nelly Furtado performs at Coachella

Nelly Furtado proved that she was an absolute pro at Coachella. The singer showed up during Dom Dolla’s set (which was attended by none other than Swift ) to perform their collab, “Eat Your Man,” plus her own hit “Maneater.” But during her number, Furtado fell over and then got up a second later as if nothing happened, without missing a single note.

Kesha and Reneé Rapp perform at Coachella

After dancing with Hilton and Kyle Richards at No Doubt’s show the night prior, Kesha surprised fans during Reneé Rapp’s Sunday set to perform her debut hit, “TiK ToK.” It even came with a surprise change, as Kesha amended the song’s first line from “feeling like P. Diddy” to “ f*ck P.Diddy,” amidst the rapper’s ongoing sexual assault allegations .

Will Smith and J Balvin perform at Coachella

A Men In Black sequel happened at Coachella — kind of. Will Smith came out during J Balvin’s Sunday night performance, decked out in his full Men In Black suit and sunglasses, to perform the title track of his famed 1997 film. J Balvin made himself part of the plot by getting dragged off stage by dancers as Smith zapped him with the movie’s “Neuralyzer” to complete the sci-fi fantasy.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber performs at Coachella 2022

Justin Bieber loves a Coachella guest appearance. After performing with Ariana Grande in 2019 and Daniel Caesar in 2022, he returned to the festival again on Sunday to surprise fans during Tems’ set along with Wizkid, with the trio performing their “Essence” remix.

A$AP Rocky attends the Bottega Veneta fashion show

A$AP Rocky pulled double duty at Coachella. After appearing during Tyler, the Creator’s set to perform their songs “Potato Salad” and “Who Dat Boy,” he reappeared the next day to perform with Sunday headliner Doja Cat, debuting their new collaboration “Urrrge” onstage. And yes, Rihanna was also there to support him the whole weekend.

What to stream this weekend: Conan O’Brien travels, ‘Migration’ soars and Taylor Swift reigns

Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” landing on Netflix and Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” album are some of the new television, movies, music and games headed to a device near you.

Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists : A family of ducks is coaxed into flying south for the winter in the animated movie “Migration” and Conan O’Brien as the brunt of jokes is on full display in his new travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go” for Max.

NEW MOVIES TO STREAM

— The cautious father (Kumail Nanjiani) of a family of ducks is coaxed into flying south for the winter in “Migration” (steaming Friday on Peacock), the latest animation from Illumination, the maker of “Despicable Me” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” Penned by “White Lotus” creator Mike White, “Migration” is another, albeit more kid-friendly examination of the pros and cons of an exotic vacation. In my review, I wrote that “Migration” “is vividly animated with warm cartoon tones that would do Daffy proud. But it never quite spreads its wings.” With Elizabeth Banks, Danny DeVito, Carol Kane, Awkwafina and Keegan-Michael Key.

— People tend to love or hate the films of Zack Snyder, the maker of brawny CGI extravaganzas like “Man of Steel,” “Justice League” and “Army of the Dead.” If you’re the former, the arrival of “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” (Friday on Netflix) is a date you’ve circled since the December debut of the first installment. Sofia Boutella and Djimon Hounsou lead the ensemble cast in Snyder’s “Star War” riff space opera.

– If some films are laden and overstuffed, how about those that pass like a brief encounter? A new series streaming on the Criterion Channel asks: How much can happen in a night? The series collects some of the best films that transpire entirely from dusk ‘til dawn. Evenings may pass in conversation (“My Dinner With Andre”) or bloodshed (“Night of the Living Dead”), but in all of them, the sun eventually arrives to break a nocturnal spell. Among the highlights: Elaine May’s “Mikey and Nicky,” Martin Scorsese’s “After Hours,” Jim Jarmusch’s “Night on Earth” and Agnes Varda’s “Cléo from 5 to 7.”

— AP Film Writer Jake Coyle

NEW MUSIC TO STREAM

— It is Taylor Swift ’s world, and we continue to just live in it. On Friday, the savior of both contemporary pop music and the U.S. economy will release her highly anticipated 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift surprise-announced the release in February at the 2024 Grammys after receiving the trophy for best pop vocal album for her tenth LP, “Midnights.” The day after the Grammys, Swift shared the track list, teasing 16 songs and two features: “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone — who is fresh off a feature on Beyoncé's “Act ll: Cowboy Carter” — and “Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine. At a show in Melbourne, Australia, Swift described the album as “a lifeline,” adding “I’ve never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on ‘Tortured Poets.’”

— Three decades into their career, and Pearl Jam’s 12th studio album, “Dark Matter,” arrives the same day as Swift’s — but don’t consider it competition; they’re keeping it in the family. Both acts are signed to Republic Records. Produced by Andrew Watt , “Dark Matter” is Pearl Jam’s first new record since 2020’s “Gigaton,” – a hard-rocking collection of songs from the saints of the 1990s Seattle scene that AP’s Andrew Dalton described as “athletic in its speed, aggression, and tenacity, sounding like it would make men of their age sore in the aftermath.” Listen responsibly.

— AP Music Writer Maria Sherman

NEW SHOWS TO STREAM

— Fresh off her Oscar nomination, Lily Gladstone stars in a new limited series for Hulu called “Under the Bridge” with Riley Keough. Based on a true-crime novel by Rebecca Godfrey, “Under the Bridge” tells the story of the murder of Canadian teen Reena Virk in the late 1990s. Gladstone plays a police officer investigating the case and Keough plays Godfrey, who immersed herself in Virk’s world to detail not only what happened, but the social and cultural implications surrounding her death. “Under the Bridge” premiered Wednesday on Hulu and is already garnering Emmy buzz for both Gladstone and Keough.

— Conan O’Brien loves to be the brunt of a joke and that’s on full display in his new travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go” for Max. Cameras follow the comedian as he visits countries like Ireland, Thailand, Argentina and Norway. When the series was announced last May, Max released the following quote from O’Brien, “My fans around the globe never asked me to visit them, so I did.” “Conan O’Brien Must Go” debuted Thursday on Max.

— “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan leaves the Regency era and steps into the present starring in the British comedy “Big Mood” for Tubi. Coughlan plays Maggie, a young playwright with bipolar disorder who has decided to go off her meds to tap into her creativity. Maggie relies on her loyal best friend Eddie (Lydia West) to get her through her daily struggles, but their friendship is tested as Maggie’s mental health deteriorates. “Big Mood” premieres Fridayon Tubi.

— The popular fantasy children’s book series “The Spiderwick Chronicles” has been adapted for TV. The story follows teenage twins Simon and Jared and their older sister Mallory after they move to an old, family estate called Spiderwick, which is also inhabited by magical creatures. The show also stars Christian Slater, Joy Bryant and Jack Dylan Grazer. “The Spiderwick Chronicles” premieres on Roku Channel on Friday.

— National Geographic’s popular “Secrets Of” franchise has a new installment called “Secrets of the Octopus.” Debuting Sunday, the three-part series details the surprising characteristics of octopuses. These marine animals may look funny, but they have a level of intelligence where they solve problems, scheme and even communicate with other species. Narrated by Paul Rudd and executive produced by James Cameron, the docuseries is inspired by the book and research of Sy Montgomery.

— Alicia Rancilio

NEW VIDEO GAMES TO PLAY

— The second thing you’ll notice about Harold Halibut — after its goofy title — is its distinctive graphics. German indie studio Slow Bros. has built an entire game around hand-crafted models, and the result looks like stop-motion animation. The setting is a city-sized spaceship, the Fedora, that fled Earth 250 years earlier but unfortunately landed at the bottom of an alien ocean. Harold himself is the awkward young assistant to the ship’s chief scientist, who’s trying to figure out how to get it back into space. Will Harold help with that relaunch — or will he find himself drawn into the mystery of this strange planet? Dive on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S and PC.
