Experience Community Tourism in Sikkim – An Unconventional 10 day Travel Itinerary

Experience Community Tourism in Sikkim – An Unconventional 10 day Travel Itinerary

Sikkim, a tiny state tucked in the North Eastern region of the country has gained popularity among travellers over the past decade. Snow capped peaks, icy lakes, rhododendron sanctuaries, tea estates and rich biodiversity, the reasons to visit Sikkim are plenty. If you are someone who loves mountains, there are high chances that you have already visited Sikkim. But what’s surprising is, most of the travellers tend to follow a generic Sikkim Travel Itinerary (unlike this one ?) and head to the conventional and touristy destinations in Sikkim, ultimately missing out on the authentic experiences.

I believe that a place is all about its people. The best way to know about a place, its history and culture is by interacting with the original inhabitants. It is the locals who will be able to tell you about hidden gems which you otherwise would have never been able to discover. The concept of community tourism has evolved in Sikkim on the same note. Community tourism allows you to live with the local community, explore the untrodden paths and experience their lifestyle.

There are several villages in Sikkim that have been modeled on community tourism principles with aid from the government. Locals in these villages have transformed their homes into home-stays to host guests from all over the globe. There are several culinary, adventure and cultural experiences that are hosted in these villages which you can be a part of. Various festivals are held as a part of community tourism initiative to boost the economy. And these festivals are nowhere close to what we experience in cities. Go ahead to read about some of the places you can visit to make your trip to Sikkim an unconventional one.

Here is a 10-day detailed Sikkim Travel itinerary covering East, West and South Sikkim which you can follow, along with details on how to plan your trip to Sikkim. This Sikkim itinerary covers quaint villages and dreamy locations, away from all the tourist hotspots, perfect for discerning travellers or for ones who have already visited Sikkim once and are expecting to see the other side of the state.

How to reach Gangtok?

Recommendation for cafes and restaurants, where to stay in gangtok, how to reach yangang, where to stay in yangang, day 3 : explore yangang, how to reach kewzing, where to stay in kewzing.

Day 5 : Explore Kewzing

How to reach Kecheopalri Lake?

Day 9: Yuksom to Gangtok/Siliguri

Day 10 : Fly out from Gangtok/Bagdogra

Things to remember while planning this trip to Sikkim:

Share this:, 10 day offbeat sikkim travel itinerary.

Day 1 : Arrive in Gangtok

  • The nearest airport to Gangtok is Pakyong. You can directly fly to Pakyong and then take a cab from Pakyong to Gangtok. You should not pay more than INR 1200 for this distance of 1 hour.
  • Alternatively, you can fly to Bagdogra Airport and travel from Bagdogra to Gangtok.
  • Reserved cabs from Bagdogra to Gangtok would cost you about INR 3000. You can opt for a shared cab from wizzride as well. The pickup would be from the airport itself and you can choose your convenient drop off point in Gangtok.

Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim and a vibrant town with a character of its own. Unlike other hill towns, where the city shuts down by late evening, you will find restaurants and pubs open post 11pm. To start your trip in Sikkim, you’d have to reach Gangtok, unless you are aware of alternative routes from Bagdogra.

video of sikkim tour

If you manage to reach by afternoon, head out to visit Enchhey Monastery, Gangtok Ropeway and Tashi View Point. You can opt for local cabs for this.

In the evening, stroll at MG Marg and head to the amazing cafes and restaurants lined up at MG Marg.

  • Nimtho for authentic Nepali/Sikkimese cuisines
  • Sass and Guff for Thai and Tibetan
  • Café Live and Loud and Gangtok Groove to experience nightlife in Gangtok
  • Breakfast platters and coffee at The Coffee Shop
  • Hostels: Tagalong | Zostel
  • Home-stays: House of Meesu | The Aura | Live Away Home

Head back to your hotel/homestay and sleep early on this day.

Day 2 : Gangtok to Yangang

  • From Gangtok, take a reserved vehicle till Yangang. It will take about 2-2.5 hours to reach Yangang, and a reserved cab will cost you between INR 2000-2500 for a drop off.
  • If you want to opt for a shared vehicle, you’d have to break the journey at Singtam. First, take a shared sumo till Singtam, from where you can take a second cab till Yangang.

Tungna Homestay | Dhuni Homestay

You can spend the rest of the day at your homestay and interact with your hosts, followed by dinner or explore the orchards and farms in your homestay.

This is your first day, in this 10 Day Sikkim Itinerary, when you get some time without having to worry about ‘what to see next.’ The village stay itself is an experience. Start the day with a healthy breakfast at your homestay and head out to explore the village on foot.

Take a tour of the lush green paddy fields in Yangang and spend a quiet day in the monasteries with your hosts. You can ask your host to arrange for a vehicle to drive you till Mangzing Waterfall, a hidden spot in the village where no tourist goes.

video of sikkim tour

You can request your hosts to give you a guided walk through their farm lands in the evening after which you can spend the evening in the outdoor area of the homestay. You could join the hosts to prepare dinner and learn more about local cuisines.

Day 4 : Yangang to Kewzing

On your fourth day, prepare to head to Kewzing after breakfast in Yangang.

Kewzing is a perfect example of community tourism where the Lepcha and Bhutiya communities have worked together to boost the economy of the village through tourism. All the home-stays are run by the families themselves who’d make you feel at home right as you arrive.

  • Shared vehicles are not available on this route. So you’d have to hire a vehicle till Kewzing. Best option is to inform the hosts beforehand so that they can arrange a cab to pick you up from the homestay.
  • Alternatively, you could take a cab till Ravangla and take a second cab from Ravangla till Kewzing. There’s a possibility of finding a shared cab till from Yangang till Ravangla.

Samaghang Cottage | Bon Farmhouse

video of sikkim tour

It will take 2 hours at the most to reach Kewzing from Yangang. After a sumptuous lunch at your homestay, explore the village. Start with Kewzing Monastery right in the middle of the village where young monks would be ready to greet you and take you around the monastery. Walk further to the cardamom plantations and tea gardens. If you have time in the evening, head towards Bon Monastery in Kewzing to have a look at the preserved scriptures and religious texts.

Return to the homestay by evening and spend time with the hosts by the fireplace. You could request the hosts to arrange for a momo making session. Savour on some delicious momos for dinner as you also learn to make them in the most traditional way.

Wake up to the beautiful views of Mt. Narsing and Mt. Pandim and set out to explore the hamlet.

video of sikkim tour

Opt for a bird watching tour or a guided hike in the forest trails in and around the village. If you are comfortable for a long walk, head to Doling Monastery and Seven Mirror Lake on foot or hop onto a cab to reach this place. Doling Monastery is not frequented with tourists at all. You may find a couple of locals who visit the monastery to offer prayers. The mystic vibe at the Lake is something that cannot be described with words. An array of prayer flags reflects on the water of the lake to make the scene gorgeous.

Return back to your homestay in the evening and enjoy a bonfire session with the hosts.

Day 6 : Kewzing to Khecheopalri Lake

Start early on Day 6 of this 10 Day Sikkim Itinerary, from Kewzing to head towards Khecheopalri Lake. You’d be crossing Pelling, a rather famous stop in Sikkim. Stop over at Pemayangtse Monastery and Rhabdentse Ruins in Pelling while heading towards Kecheopalri Lake.

Most of the travelers visit Kecheopalri Lake on a day’s tour from Pelling. But not many people know that this place is a treasure for nature lovers. Apart from the famous Kecheopalri Lake, there are several waterfalls, natural pools and hikes that you can visit from here. A visit to Khecheopalri Lake would be the highlight of your unconventional trip to this North Eastern State.

video of sikkim tour

From Kewzing, you do not hav many options to reach Khecheopalri Lake. Either ask your host to arrange a cab for you which can directly reach you to Khecheopalri Lake or book a cab till Pelling. Visit Pemayangtse Monastery and Rhabdentse Ruins in Pelling and reserve another can till Khecheopalri Lake.

For both the options, either a direct cab or two, the expense would go upto around INR 3000, if not more.

Kecheopalri Sanctuary Homestay (Contact Mr Latup at 8145702994)

Reach your homestay by noon and relax by the lake. Spend a leisurely hour soaking in all the calmness and energy. Later, return to your homestay to enjoy your dinner by the bonfire.

Wake up early to watch the first light of the day over the lake. Make sure you stay in a room facing the lake. Just waking up in the morning would be such a fulfilling activity, that will surely become one of the highlights of this 10 Day Sikkim Trip, and something that you will remember for the rest of your life.

After breakfast, ask your host to guide you or arrange a guide to lead you through the forest trails. There is a short and beautiful trail that leads to a gorgeous natural pool. Nothing would beat the idea of taking a dip in the cool waters of the natural lake. The freshness of the water is sure to wipe off all your worries.

Explore the forest with your guide and learn about the unique flora and fauna of this part of Sikkim. Return to your homestay by early evening to enjoy some wood-fired pizza and indulge in a jamming session or conversations with the fellow travellers.

Day 8: Kecheopalri Lake to Yuksom

If you want to encounter Sikkim’s unknown history, Yuksom is the place you should be in. Yuksom is one of the 10 Hidden Gems of Sikkim , which is also the gateway to Kanchendzonga National Park ( One of the Best National Parks in India ) and happens to be the base for famous Himalayan treks like the Goecha La Trek and Dzongri Trek. The age old monasteries and  the enchanting lakes will leave a trail in your heart.

video of sikkim tour

The chances of finding a shared cab are quite low. But depending on the season and plans of other guests in your vicinity, you may find one for yourself and share the cab. Ask your host beforehand on this so that arrangement can be made easily.

Or ask your host to get you in touch with a driver who can drop you at Yuksom. It’s a 1.5 hours of drive and expect to spend around INR 1800-2000 for a drop off.

Yak Homestay | Lobding Homestay

Reach Yuksom by 12pm and spend the day to explore Norbu Gang, the Coronation throne of Namgyal Dynasty, Kathok monastery and Kathok Lake. Watch the fluttering white prayer flags around the lake, a sight that is sure to touch your soul and instill a sense of gratitude within you.

Do not miss out on dropping in at Dubdi Monastery. Established in 1701 during the reign of Chogyal Namgyal, it is considered to be the oldest monastery in Sikkim.

On your 9 th day of your trip to Sikkim, there are two options you can opt for. First is to head back to Gangtok if you’re flying out from Pakyong.

In this case, you have to follow the following route.

  • Take a shared cab from Yuksom to Geyzing.
  • From Geyzing, take a shared cab till Gangtok.
  • There are not many vehicles in Yuksom so the best idea is to reach Geyzing in the available mode of transport and choose the comfortable option for the longer segment of the journey, i.e. Geyzing to Gangtok.

If your flight is scheduled from Bagdogra, you can head to Siliguri directly from Yuksom. Please note that Siliguri is the nearest city, about 10 kms from Bagdogra. Bagdogra is a small town in the outskirts where the airport is located.

If you are opting for a shared cab, follow this route to reach Siliguri:

Yuksom – Geyzing – Jorethang – Siliguri

If you get a direct cab from Yuksom to Jorethang, then you’d only have to change your vehicle one. If not, then twice, at Geyzing and Jorethang.

In case you want to book a vehicle entirely for yourself, you should come to Geyzing and then reserve a vehicle for Siliguri.

Stay over in Siliguri for the night before you fly out the next day.

Recommendation for stay in Siliguri  :  Mulaqat BnB

On the 10 th and last day of your trip, fly out from Pakyong or Bagdogra.

Or you can even start your 7 Day Road Trip to Bhutan starting from Bagdogra.

10 Day Sikkim Travel Itinerary – Summary

Day 3: Explore Yangang

Day 6 : Kewzing to Kecheopalri

Day 7 : Local Hikes

  • As this itinerary consists of places located in remote parts of Sikkim, there are not many options to opt for shared vehicles. The cost of the trip gets high for a solo or budget traveler as you’d need to reserve an entire vehicle on most of the days. Plan the trip in groups of 4 or 6 to cut down on your expenses by splitting the costs.
  • Your stay in all the places would be in home-stays run by local families. Do not expect luxury as they have limited resources to operate. You can expect a lot of love and warmth though, making your trip a truly unconventional one.
  • All the recommendations for accommodation made are of home-stays, which I believe is where you will experience an outstanding hospitality and learn about Sikkim. If you wish to put up in hotels during your stay in Gangtok, check this one stop travel guide for Sikkim .
  • Keep your luggage as light as possible as you might need to walk with your luggage at times to reach the homestay.
  • This Sikkim Travel Itinerary makes for a great road trip for bikers. North East being the hub of adventure activities, there are many bike rentals in Gangtok. The Bikers Hub is one of the best Bike rentals from where you can rent a bike and set out to explore the beauty of Sikkim.
  • The best time to visit Sikkim is March-April and October-November. The weather during these months is pleasant and the views of the snow capped mountain peaks are clear.

This itinerary covers East, West and South Sikkim. The only region that is left untouched and deserves a separate attention is North Sikkim. Check this North Sikkim travel guide to plan a trip to the land of high altitude lake and valley of flowers.

If you have not started traveling to the North East India yet, maybe this is the time to begin!

Hello, Looking for an itinerary to visit some of the offbeat places in Sikkim for a family of 4 with 7N/8D trip. Please consider Siliguri as the pick-up and drop point. If we can stay 2 nights each at three locations and 1 night at the 4th location that would be great. Being with nature in homestays and visit some of the amazing natural habitats than commercial places crowded with tourists is something our priorities are. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for recommending this. My next plan is to travel to this place

Thanks for the options. Sikkim is one location in the north east that has been pending for quite a long period for me. But I’m still hopeful to be there soon. Thanks for this detailed guide.

I have been to Gangtok twice, it’s a must-visit place. I am planning my third trip soon. You have written the details of how to plan 10 days travel to Sikkim in a very nice way. As it is nearby my city so in the coming months I am visiting Sikkim for a vacation with my friends. I will ping you if I will need any details regarding the place https://parilifestyle.com/

You have uncovered some of the beautiful gems of Sikkim in this itinerary. It seems to be a great way to experience the natural beauty of Sikkim. Reading the post brought back our own memories of Sikkim. We really loved the enchanting lake of Kecheopalri.

Thank you for this literal revisit to Sikkim. Reading your post, I want to visit again!

The itinerary spread over ten days seems so much better than rushed ones done in fewer days. You actually can explore and enjoy so much more about the region, ita culture, people, places and food. Your post took me traveling along with you.

That was such a detailed analysis of the places to visit in Sikkim. It was like a virtual tour for me.

Thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed going through the article.

If quaint & charming villages, waterfalls and gorgeous are your thing, you will love it today. The approximately 5-hour drive from Gangtok to Lachung is one of the most scenic drives in Sikkim. Stop by on the way to soak in the beauty of your surroundings, take pictures or just do nothing. There is no rush today. Having said that, do not exert yourself today as you would be gaining more than 3000 ft today. Take things easy. Evening free to relax.

Day 4 – Lachung To Yumthang Valley To Gangtok

You will step foot to North Sikkim’s most beautiful gem today, the Yumthung valley. The less than a couple of hours drive might be a little bumpy but the gorgeousness of this beautiful place will more than makeup for it. Spend time exploring the beautiful valley and its gorgeous meadows and frothy mountain rivers. Depending upon the time of your visit (Feb-April), you might also find rhododendron flowers carpeting the meadows and the surroundings.

After spending enough time (it will never be enough 🙂 ) , start your return journey to Gangtok and reach by evening.

Day 5 – Gangtok To Tsongmo Lake and Baba Mandir

After breakfast, start for the high-altitude Tsomgo lake first. The high-altitude lake falls on the way to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir  and is a must-visit place when in Sikkim. Depending upon which season you are visiting in, you might find the lake partially or fully frozen. If you are not visiting around the winters, you will see the waters of the lake full of fishes.

Today will be a long day but a very interesting one. You will be back in Gangtok only by evening.

A small hill-town located at around 7200 ft., Pelling literally is nestled on the foothills of the mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga. The drive from Gangtok to Pelling is a beautiful one but that is not the only nice part of the day. Once there, visit the must-visit place in Pelling such as the Pemayangtse Monastery and Khecheopalri Lake among other waterfalls around.

Evening free to relax.

Start your day at leisure today. Maybe, take a relaxed walk around before slowly pulling yourself into your vehicle for your journey back to Bagdogra. Drive through beautiful valleys of Sikkim and gorgeous tea gardens of Bengal and reach the airport.

Everything went peacefully starting form source to destination and there was zero hassle in the tour. Except there was a bit out of plan that we got 2/4 different homestay than what was stated in the itinerary, but still it was good.

Overall in India we find that and have opportunity to go on an 11-day tour of North East India and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The tour package was well-organized and covered all the major destinations in the region, giving us a comprehensive overview of the culture, history, and natural beauty of this lesser-explored part of India. The tour started in Guwahati, the gateway to North East India, where we were greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. From there, we traveled to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, known as the 'Scotland of the East' for its stunning landscapes and pleasant climate. We visited the famous Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani Lake, and were mesmerized by its crystal clear water and surrounding hills. Next, we headed to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest places on earth, where we got to witness the spectacular Seven Sisters Waterfall and the living root bridges, a unique and fascinating man-made wonder. The tour also took us to Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village in Asia, and we were amazed by its pristine surroundings and the warm hospitality of the locals. We then continued our journey to Kaziranga National Park, home to the famous one-horned rhinoceros. We were lucky enough to spot these magnificent creatures during our safari in the park. The tour also included a visit to Majuli Island, the world's largest river island, where we got to experience the unique Assamese culture and enjoy a traditional dance performance. The highlight of the tour was our visit to Tawang, located in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, which is home to the second-largest Buddhist monastery in the world. The monastery was a sight to behold, and we were fortunate to witness the daily rituals and prayers of the monks. The tour also took us to the picturesque Sela Pass, which offered breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. Throughout the tour, we were impressed by the beauty and diversity of North East India. The accommodations provided were comfortable and the food was delicious, giving us a taste of the local cuisine. Our tour guide was highly knowledgeable and shared interesting insights about the places we visited. Overall, I would highly recommend this 11-day tour package to anyone looking to explore the exotic North East region of India. It was a perfect blend of nature, culture, and adventure, and I returned home with a deeper appreciation for this lesser-known part of our country.
We had a fantastic trip in the North East of India, Organized by Hemender from Travelcon.Visiting the serene mountains was a memorable trip for both of us and we were really felt like we are at a paradise. We informed hemender that we do not want to go the usual Itinerary and wanted few different things and he helped us to fulfil that requirements.I had been to India couple of Times so I knew how to negotiate on prices. There were few airlines and many transfers while visiting this majestic land but was handled seamlessly. Our local guides were awesome and experienced. Our Driver was also a nice person who took care of all our needs while driving. 10/10 I would recommend Travelcon among my friends/family members.

This was my 3rd trip to beautiful India in 3 years and by far the best.  Dilip the leader was an inspiration to all leaders and that made the trip superb. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? I felt a great warmth from the locals that we kept meeting along the way in the villages that we walked through in the trekking week. What did you think of your group leader? Dilip was amazing and so friendly and gave us so much of his knowledge and kept the group's spirits high on the rainiest days!
This was a fantastic trip with a wonderful team leader and support team.  Lots of variety, as much free time as you wanted, good food and excellent company.  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? This is difficult as there were so many ...the sun cleared immediately after our arrival at the first camp site, after an afternoon of misty conditions.  We were able to see Kanchenjunga clearly that afternoon and at dawn the following day.Dillo's amazing Bollywood-style dancing at the end of trek celebration :-) cocktails/pink gin at the Windamere (sic) Hotel in Darjeeling.  Dilip managed to get us into the guests lounge, usually out of bounds for non-residents.the overnight train journey was surprisingly enjoyable, and the arrival in Calcutta in heavy rain was quite an experience.Sikkim was lovely! What did you think of your group leader? Dilip was an inspiration, and the group benefitted enormously from his leadership and superb organisational and team-leading skills.  He has established an impressive network of local people from the villages on the route, and we were welcomed warmly wherever we went.  His leadership style is very hands-on, and he himself greeted us every morning on trek with a cup of tea. He was constantly cheerful, despite the freak weather conditions we encountered on the trek, and was always looking for ways to make things more enjoyable for us all.  The chips and pakora were perfectly timed to lift our spirits after a day when misty conditions had obscured the mountain views that we'd all been looking forward to.  He was very good at solving all our problems, large and small - for example, when a few of us were queuing for the ladies loo in Sikkim, Dilip persuaded the restaurant owner to open the VIP toilets in the presidential suite for us.  His leadership ensured that we all had a very enjoyable holiday, despite freak weather conditions,  which were a side effect of the worst cyclone to hit the Bay of Bengal in 40 years. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Take a good sleeping 4-season bag and the best mattress you can afford (or borrow).  It did get very cold at night on the high points of the trek.Don't hesitate to book if you're thinking of doing this trip - it's been the best holiday we've had for years.  Is there anything else you would like to add? Manu Lai is a great cook.  The support team was wonderful.  We were very sad to leave India and are already looking forward to our next trip.

Parkland dad reflects on Harris tour of Stoneman Douglas site

Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter Jamie, has pushed for more gun control.

Last month, Vice President Kamala Harris toured Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, site of a 2018 mass shooting, with families of the 17 victims of the massacre and vowed to do more to curb gun violence.

Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter Jaime in the shooting, was one of the parents who pushed for elected officials to take the tour and meet with the families about tackling gun violence.

He spoke with ABC News' Rachel Scott shortly after the visit.

PHOTO: Vice President Kamala Harris pays her respects to the victims of the 2018 school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School at the memorial on the campus after meeting with their families in Parkland, FL, March 23, 2024.

ABC NEWS LIVE: I do want to start with you telling me about your push to get the vice president here. Where did that come from?

FRED GUTTENBERG: I guess about 10 months ago, when the building was turned over from the state attorney to the school district, one of the other dads, Max Schachter, had this idea of walking through political people to see what's happening in that building, or what happened in that building.

The blood is still there, the DNA is still there. The shards of glass are still there, the books and all the coursework, it's still out there on the desks as if the kids just went out for a fire drill. It's all still there. And we wanted to walk people through so that they could receive the lessons of why something like this happened. And a day of mass carnage, leading to 17 dead and 17 injured, but not only why it happened [but also] what kinds of things can we do to stop the next one.

MORE: Harris says US has not ruled out 'consequences' if Israel invades Rafah

And I reached out to the Office of Gun Violence Prevention folks, which are an amazing group of people, and the vice president's office, and I told them what we were doing. And I said, "I'd really like you all to come."

This was scheduled to be a three-hour day. She was here, not three hours, [but] almost five.

Because she wanted to know about those we lost. She wanted to know about the work that we're doing.

Today was an incredibly consequential, meaningful day.

ABC NEWS LIVE: You told me that this building is going to be demolished.

GUTTENBERG: Yeah.

ABC NEWS LIVE: And that this was sort of the final chapter.

GUTTENBERG: The final lesson.

ABC NEWS LIVE: The final lesson.

The vice president can now go forward and talk specifically about what she saw in this building and relate it to what she needs to do [and] what we need to do as a country. Whether it's on gun safety policy, whether it's on school construction, any of those things. She saw it today. She can talk about it now.

PHOTO: Vice President Kamala Harris speaks to the media as family members hold portraits of their loved ones who were killed during the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, March 23, 2024.

ABC NEWS LIVE: What do you believe needs to be done? We know that the president signed the most comprehensive gun safety legislation into law in decades. But still, that did not go as far as the president and the vice president were hoping.

GUTTENBERG: I wish we could have gone further. And I hope people vote in the next election to ensure we get to go further. But it went, and it got a lot of things done. I'll give you this. I'll just tell you this, for the first time in months, the homicide rate related to gun violence, for the first time in years, is trending down. I was just at the FBI facility in West Virginia, where they conduct threat assessment and background checks last month. And they're doing the new enhanced under 21 background checks which are a part of that legislation. And they were talking about the abundance of young people now that they've been able to stop from getting a weapon because of that new enhanced under-21 background check.

Red flag laws save lives. Let me be clear, had a red flag law been in place in Florida before February 14, 2018, in all likelihood, this shooting never happens. Had a red flag law been in place before February 14, 2018, I'd be visiting my daughter at the University of Florida, not at a cemetery.

ABC NEWS LIVE: I do want to ask you about your daughter and just what we should know about her and how you have been able to cope with the loss of a daughter so young.

GUTTENBERG: My daughter will forever be the toughest person I ever knew. And if you saw the way she died on the third floor, running down the hallway for her life, because she got locked out of a room – knowing there was a shooter at her back with an AR-15. And she made it to within 1 second of her life, turning into the stairwell.

It does not surprise me that she was fighting for her life that way. She's the toughest person I've ever known. I get through every day because she stands on my shoulders pushing me forward. I get through every day because I know no matter how hard this fight is, I will never ever, ever have anything as hard as what she did running down that hallway.

I am her voice now. My daughter was 14 when she was killed. Forever 14. She should be 20 now.

And I have a dream now of ending gun violence in America and I'm dedicating my life to it.

MORE: Parkland school shooting 6 years later: Remembering the 17 victims

ABC NEWS LIVE: You've been through that building. You've walked that hall. What was that like for you?

GUTTENBERG: When you walk through it, you see the blood of the victims still there. You see DNA of the victims. It's still there.

I sat in the spot where my daughter took her last breath. And for me, it's something I'll never ever get over, I'll never comprehend how it was possible. I'll never forgive those who failed to deal with the reality of gun violence, because we were listening to too many of the wrong people. And I will do everything I can to ensure we fire every single elected person who continues to fail on this issue. All I want to do is stop the next one.

PHOTO: Fred Guttenberg, a father of a victim of the 2018 Parkland shooting, speaks with ABC News.

ABC NEWS LIVE: We are now in a critical election year. What do you want Americans to know heading into this election year?

GUTTENBERG: What I want America to know is there is only one president and vice presidential candidate – they're the ones running for re-election, President [Joe] Biden and Vice President Harris, who stand for doing something about gun violence

So here's what I want America to know. This is not an election to sit home. If you're any of the many people across this country who think I'm gonna stay home on my couch, I don't need to vote. Yes, you do. Let me be clear: If there's anybody in your life that you love, and because of that, you want to reduce gun violence, you know how to vote and you know you need to vote.

2024 RBC Heritage live stream, watch online, TV schedule, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage

There is no rest for the weary with a signature event on tap this week on the pga tour.

rbc-heritage-signage-2023-g.jpg

Players make the short trip from Augusta, Georgia, to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for this week's 2024 RBC Heritage. In total, 69 golfers will tee it up on Harbour Town Golf Links across the first two days as yet another signature event on the PGA Tour's playing calendar gets underway.

Unlike the Genesis Invitational or Arnold Palmer Invitational, the RBC Heritage will not feature a 36-hole cut, meaning the entirety of the field will be around for the weekend. That is music to the ears to those who missed out on the weekend action at the Masters, including the likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.

Spieth, the 2022 champion, looks to kickstart his season after a disappointing showing at Augusta National. He is no stranger to bouncing back at the RBC Heritage; he followed a missed cut at the year's first major championship with a win a week later in Hilton Head.

If Spieth is to return to the winner's circle, he will have to go through Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 remains in the field for now and aims to collect his fourth trophy in his last five tournaments. Fresh off slipping on his second green jacket, Scheffler has widened the gap between him and the rest of the world and shows no signs of slowing down.

Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Åberg, Will Zalatoris and Max Homa were among those to perform well at the Masters, and they hope that translates to more of the same. Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay and defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick will look for some form. In total, 26 of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are set to play.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Cozy Up During Blink-and-You'll-Miss-It Romantic Footage from Singapore Date

Swift performed six concerts in Singapore back in March

video of sikkim tour

Gotham/GC Images

Taylor Swift's YouTube compilation for her new lead single "Fortnight" highlights many moments from the singer's personal life, including an adorable kitchen kiss from boyfriend Travis Kelce .

But there's another romantic moment between them later in the video, and if you blink you might miss it.

Back in March, Swift performed six concerts in Singapore as part of her globe-spanning Eras Tour .

Kelce joined Swift for two shows at National Stadium, and was even seen dancing  to her hit "Look What You Made Me Do."

Between shows, the couple took in the local attractions, including the Supertree Grove, part of the world famous Gardens by the Bay.

In the YouTube compilation, there's a fleeting shot of one of the grove's giant illuminated trees. But sharp-eyed and quick-fingered viewers who pause the video will see Swift and Kelce standing hand-in-hand at the base of the tree, bathed in its glowing green light.

Taylor Swift/ Youtube

If the Supertree Grove looks familiar, it's because it was the backdrop for the lavish wedding reception in the 2018 blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians .

The Singapore stops were the last ones before Swift took a break from touring to promote her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , which was released Friday, April 19, at midnight.

The Eras Tour will resume in May with its European leg. Concerts are slated through the late spring/ summer in Portugal, England, Poland and Austria before returning to the United States in October.

Sunday at the Masters is about who will don the green jacket. This one was also about Verne Lundquist.

The esteemed CBS broadcaster made his final Masters call Sunday afternoon, his 40th and final Masters on the mic. Lundquist, 83, has voiced several iconic moments at Augusta National, including Tiger Woods' chip-in birdie from behind the par-3 16th green in the 2005 final round, en route to a playoff victory over Chris DiMarco.

The moment wasn't lost on Lundquist, whose dulcet tones have grown synonymous with the Masters’ storied history.

"When I leave here on Sunday, I'll have nine billion memories, and a choked-up voice,” Lundquist told ESPN earlier this week.

Lundquist made his final call at No. 16 for Sunday's final pairing of winner Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa, after which play-by-play commentator Jim Nantz offered a tribute amidst soft music and slow-motion shots of Scheffler walking to glory.

"Verne wrote a book back in 2018 called "Play by Play," and the last line in the book that you wrote, Verne, I’m going to apply it to you. You said thanks, to borrow a phrase, thanks for the memories. Your voice has been a beautiful instrument. Thank you for a wonderful soundtrack for all of our lives," Nantz said.

A clearly emotional Lundquist responded with brevity: "Thank you so much, Jim. My honor. My privilege."

Woods and Lundquist shared a moment Sunday afternoon as Woods played No. 16, a testament to the five-time green jacket winner’s high esteem for the broadcaster.

“I’ve heard that call a couple times,” Woods quipped earlier this week, before turning serious. “That's what I grew up watching. I grew up listening to Verne. He has just an amazing ability to bring in the audience and describe a situation and just be able to narrate it in a way that is poetic but it's also – he describes it with emotionality. He just draws the audience in. It's amazing.

“And he made a nice call there at (hole) 16, and it's one that I've been lucky enough to … I will have that memory with Verne for the rest of my life.”

Lundquist worked nationally for ABC Sports from 1974 to 1981, CBS from 1982 to 1995, and TNT from 1995 to 1997, before returning to CBS from 1998 to 2016. He spent a decade-plus as the radio voice of the Dallas Cowboys, and he has covered everything from the NFL, NBA and Olympics to college football, basketball and even the game show “Bowling for Dollars.” He was lead play-by-play announcer for SEC football on CBS from 2000 to 2016, before retiring from college football broadcasting.

The Masters has been a constant. Lundquist took the mic at Augusta National in 1983, and he maintained the role aside from a two-year hiatus in 1997-98. His first Masters assignment was on the par-5 13th hole, the final leg of Amen Corner, and he was assigned to the 17th-hole tower for 1986 – after longtime 17th-hole announcer Frank Glieber, a close friend, died of a heart attack in 1985. Lundquist eventually moved to the tower at No. 16, the picturesque par 3 known as Redbud with water guarding the green’s left side and a mid-green ridge that tends to funnel balls toward a traditional Sunday hole location tucked near the water’s edge.

Augusta National’s par-3 16th tower was a fitting place for Lundquist’s Masters career to conclude, where he punctuated Scheffler's 10-foot birdie Sunday that extended his lead to four strokes, en route to his second green jacket.

Jim Harbaugh Lives in an Recreational Vehicle Down by the Ocean

  • Author: Stephen Douglas

In this story:

JIm Harbaugh really likes The Rockford Files . So much so that he is currently living in an RV on a California beach just like Jim Rockford did in the 1970's television series. If only Jim Rockford had considered a career change before he was falsely imprisoned at San Quentin.

Harbaugh recently took a Los Angeles Chargers camera crew on a tour of his Quantum. which has been parked in Huntington Beach for the last two months. Between the location and the lack of distractions, Harbaugh appears to be loving life, watching The Rockford Files (and Joe Dirt ?) every night before his early bedtime.

New Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman also lives in the same RV park, but in a much bigger 2019 Newmar VENTANA. Here's Roman's very diplomatic description of Harbaugh's rig: “I’ve been in here. Very cozy. I mean, you can drive this down the road and park it pretty much anywhere. So there’s a lot of advantages to having one this size."

every guy watching this just said “hell yeah” pic.twitter.com/Ir7Xpyv0VC — Los Angeles Chargers (@chargers) April 16, 2024

It must have taken some serious willpower not to call it "cute." Of course, camper life isn't all glamour, even in a VENTANA, no matter how many American flags are flying proudly. Because wherever you're parked, someone has to take care of business. Here's Harbuagh on what sounds like a surprisingly proud moment in his life:

"Nothing will make you feel more like a dad than when you dispose of the waste. That was a moment. Seminal moment for me. Felt like a real dad."

Unfortunately for everyone, Harbaugh's family has now arrived in California, so he has to move back into a house that doesn't have wheels. We'll see how long that lasts before Jim Rockford and the cool ocean breeze comes calling for Harbaugh.

You can watch the full tour of Harbaugh and Roman's RV's on YouTube .
