Casio Pro Trek

The Casio Pro Trek is a solar-powered, rugged, waterproof watch that is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and world travelers. PRW-30 SERIES Triple Sensor | Tough Solar

An array of large metal buttons on the right provide one-touch access to compass, barometric pressure/altitude, and temperature readings that appear on the LCD. Icons on the face glass next to each of the buttons contribute to easy –to-understand, intuitive outdoor environment. The digital LCD uses a high-contrast bold font, which, in combination with an STN LCD, ensures improved visibility even under harsh sunlight.

Miniature built-in sensors take highly accurate readings of direction, atmospheric pressure/temperatures and altitudes and indicate the measurement values with an LCD. They detect changes in natural phenomena immediately to support users in making appropriate responses.

Tough Solar

This proprietary CASIO solar-powered battery-recharging system assures stable operation of various power-hungry functions, including dial lighting, alarms, stopwatches and measurement functions.

Multi Band 6

This radio-controlled timekeeping technology can receive standard time-calibration signals from all 6 transmission stations worldwide and correct the time for the North American, European, Chinese and Japanese regions.

Auto Light Switch

For quick, easy data confirmation, even in the dark or with both hands occupied. You need both hands for many outdoor activities, and you don't always have one free to illuminate your watch face in low-light conditions. The Auto Light Switch solves this problem by illuminating the light whenever you turn your wrist to bring the watch into the viewing position.

STN LCD Panel

Display visibility has been improved by adoption of a dot matrix STN LCD panel. A hand retraction function is also installed to prevent overlapping hands from obstructing the LCD in the Timekeeping mode by temporarily retracting the hands from above the LCD.

Sunrise, sunset time display

Knowing the time remaining before sunset helps you to schedule climbs to assure a safe descent, or to determine the appropriate time to wake up or pitch a tent.

Atmospheric pressure tendency alarm

An atmospheric pressure tendency alarm has been installed to alert wearers to any notable change.

Casio is launching three new Pro Trek models in January 2023: two deluxe models with a sapphire crystal and a field composite band made of biomass plastics and a metal frame, PRW-51FC-1 and PRW-61FC-1 , and the standard PRW-51Y-1 with a resin band.

The PRW-51 and PRW-61 are moderately-sized Pro Trek watches with a case and back cover made of biomass plastics. They are equipped with Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 auto radio time correction, and the Triple Sensor (altimeter-barometer, compass, thermometer). Both series are water-resistant to 100 meters. Other features include 1/100 stopwatch (24 hours), 60-minute countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, full auto-calendar, full auto double LED light, 12/24-hour format, and hand shift. The altimeter has a 30-record manual memory (with date, time, and altitude) and auto-log data (with high/low altitudes, cumulative ascent and descent).

Standard (non-“FC”) models are equipped with mineral glass instead of sapphire. The PRW-51 and PRW-61 have the same functions, with the main differences being the style of the dial (numerical versus non-numerical) and slightly different dimensions and weights. Also, the PRW-51 has the Neon Illuminator blacklight LED, while the PRW-61 series has the Super Illuminator high-brightness LED.

The PRW-51Y-1, with a yellow second hand and non-inverted LCD display, appears to be positioned as a standard model, as the first and only PRW-51 release until now was the limited edition PRW-51NJ-1 collaboration.

These three models were announced for Japan, but it’s possible that some or all will get a wider release. The PRW61-1A has been a popular model in the U.S., thanks to its discounted availability on Amazon. The first PRW-51 model (PRW-51NJ-1) was not released in the U.S. or Europe.

Bands made with renewable materials: PRO TREK connects with nature

The PRG340 with dual-layer LCD features a band made of reused silicone resin materials and a bezel, case, and case back made with bio-based resin. This timepiece also comes equipped with a triple sensor that tracks natural conditions and the Tough Solar charging system that converts not only sunlight, but even light from weak light sources such as fluorescent lamps into power. Dura Soft band made with reused silicone resin materials

We reuse the scraps generated in the manufacture of resin products to create the material for this watch band. Crushed chips kneaded into a base silicone material are mixed and molded into two layers for a different look on the top surface and underside. Colorful patterns and random textures come together to achieve an outdoor look inspired by stone and sand.

Key resin components used in the case, bezel, and case back are made with bio-based resin. Produced using renewable organic resources, this material is expected to help reduce environmental impact.

Digital compass now even more readable with the duplex LCD

The dual-layer LCD allows compass graphics to be shown on the top layer, while the bottom layer offers a large display of the time and various measurements. The LCD has also been made slimmer to minimize bulk, even while being dual-layer.

Rotating bezel and movable lug construction

The bezel incorporates a rotating mechanism, allowing it to be used for simple orientation memory. The movable lug structure enables the watch case and band to be laid flat — handy when working with paper maps, checking where you are and where you’re going.
