Evening At The Dubai Mall

While we’ve got you in Downtown Dubai, how about shopping in one of the largest malls in the world? The Dubai Mall is one of the most popular places to see in Dubai. This shopper’s paradise boasts numerous international brands, great dining options, and fantastic tourist attractions. It takes well over a day to explore this huge mall and all it offers. The mall is the size of 50 football pitches and houses over 1,200 stores!

The stores in Dubai Mall have something for everyone, from the latest in apparel brands to gadgets and entertainment. And if you get a little peckish, drop by the restaurants in Dubai Mall for a bite after your shopping spree. All in all, it’s among the best places to see in Dubai in one day.

Once you’ve had your shopping fix, a visit to the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is a must. It is one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world.

TIP: Don’t spend your long Dubai layover sitting at the airport. Even if you only have half a day, you can see some of the city. If you still have to book your flights through Dubai, see if you can squeeze at least one night in Dubai into your itinerary. It will be worth it!

Think of Dubai and what probably comes to mind first are superlatives. The biggest this. The tallest that. The deepest, the longest, the largest. The benefit of being a relatively young city means there are tons of opportunities to impress. And Dubai certainly doesn’t hold back.

While this massive roster of sights may result in a pretty hefty itinerary, our three-day guide ensures you’ll get to see all of the big(gest)-hitters without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, it’s based on our personal experience and plenty of Tripadvisor reviews thrown in for good measure. The best part? Dubai is constantly beating its own records. Which gives you a solid excuse to book another trip ASAP.

Morning: See the city from new heights

Start your time in Dubai by ticking off the stars of the show, beginning with a trip up the tallest building in the world. While the 2,700-foot Burj Khalifa might offer spectacular views during sunset, that’s often its busiest time of day. Visiting early in the morning offers the same impressive panorama with far shorter queues (and better photo ops).

Tip: Skip the line for the elevator and instead book a table for brunch at At.Mosphere , the highest restaurant in the world. Want a more wallet-friendly spot? Wander through Souk Al Bahar for a range of breakfast/brunch spots or walk 15 minutes past the Dubai Opera to BohoX and try the wagyu Benedict or the French toast.

Check out the aquarium , home to 140 species of marine life, including sharks, rays, and crocodiles (and the occasional scuba diver), then get a breath of literal fresh air as you pass by the Olympic-sized ice skating rink. On your way out, watch the fountain show , which happens every 30 minutes throughout the day.

• Dubai’s skyscrapers shine brightly at night, but it can be tricky seeing them on your own. This Dubai by Night Tour takes you through the highlights and ends at the fountain show.

Evening: Eat your way around the world

Head a half hour south to see a completely different side of Dubai. First, you deserve to relax and unwind at Dubai Miracle Garden , the world’s largest natural flower garden. It’s home to 50 million blooms and 250 million plants with gorgeous displays and the Guinness World Record-breaking Mickey Mouse (yup, made of petals).

When it’s time for dinner, drive 15 minutes up the road to Global Village , an entertainment destination that showcases the traditional food, dance, and handicrafts of 90 different countries. (Hint: Only go on an empty stomach, so you can sample many different cuisines, such as Uzbek dumplings, Italian pasta, and Korean desserts.) You'll find everything from spices and carpets to jewelry and clothes, as well as an amusement area with rides, games, and attractions. There’s also an awe-inspiring fireworks display each night.

DUBAI MARINA TOURS

• Adventurous travelers can get a bird’s-eye view of Dubai’s skyline during this Parasailing Experience . Soar up to 500 feet above the Arabian Gulf, Palm Island, Dubai Marina, and other incredible sites off the shoreline.
• Feeling a little envious of the yachts on the water? Glide around the Persian Gulf yourself on a Dubai Marina Yacht Tour .
• At the Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis is home to the Lost Chambers Aquarium, where you can scuba dive with reef sharks, rays, and exotic fish.

Afternoon: Soak up the sunshine

Don’t confuse JBR with the Jumeirah district, the Jumeirah hotel chain, Jumeirah Beach, or Palm Jumeirah (a cluster of artificial archipelagos built in the shape of a tree). Designate a whole afternoon to the latter, hopping between Aura Skypool , the world’s highest 360-degree infinity pool, and the more laid-back Riva Beach Club , which has a temperature-controlled pool, cabanas, and sunbeds—all overlooking the Arabian Gulf. (Tip: A day pass costs half the price on weekdays and includes access to the beach, pool, and gym.)

Right next door is Madinat Jumeirah , a complex designed to look like an old Arabian souk but with modern shops. A network of Venice-like canals connects the four resorts, with gondolas to shuttle visitors around. Hungry? We highly recommend Folly , one of the best fine-dining restaurants in Dubai.

If you’re closer to the Marina/JBR, head to Bla Bla for a cocktail and live music (from 9 p.m., there’s usually an electronic DJ). Or, take a 10-minute taxi to Bluewaters , a floating entertainment district. Plan to arrive around sunset to watch the vibrant colors reflecting off the water. For great views, buy a ticket for Ain Dubai , the world’s tallest and largest observation wheel. When you’re ready for dinner, grab a table at Sahelnom , a brilliant Syrian restaurant that specializes in grilled meats. Expect a lovely atmosphere and hearty portions perfect for sharing.

Old Dubai—which includes the northern neighborhoods of Deira and Bur Dubai—is a stark contrast to the cutting-edge buildings and flashy shopping centers downtown. Jump on the abras or traditional wooden boats that ferry people across the Creek (it only costs one dirham!). Then, lose yourself in the souks of gold, textiles, and fragrances in Deira. On the other side of the canal in the Al Fahidi district (or Al Bastakiya quarter), there are endless galleries and museums. Highlights include: the Dubai Museum (housed within the Al Fahidi Fort), the Cultural Understanding Centre , the Coffee Museum , and the many fantastic mosques where you can learn about Islam. Further down the waterway, there's Jameel Arts Centre , which has impressive contemporary installations.

Afternoon + Evening: Swap sea for sand

Save the rest of your day for a trip to Dubai’s infamous desert. Almost all dune tours will pick you up from your hotel by request, and most safaris take you to Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve . Here, you’ll drive you over the dunes in a guided 4x4, sandboard down the steep slopes, and eat dinner under the stars at a Bedouin-style camp. There are plenty of performances, too, including a falcon show, belly dancing, and tanoura folk dancing. If you prefer to stay the night, splurge on the magical Al Maha tented camp or the glamorous Bab Al Shams resort. (Tip: Pack plenty of sunscreen and a long-sleeve shirt with UV-protection, especially on sweltering days.)

Know Before You Go

The best time to visit Dubai is from November to March, when the weather is pleasant. If you want to avoid the rush, you can opt for the shoulder months of April and May as well as September and October, when the temperatures are still bearable and the sea is warm. This shoulder season is also when rates tend to be a little lower. Coming in June, July, and August pretty much ensures you spend your time running from one air conditioned building to the next.

To get the sights to yourself, visit on Monday through Wednesday. Fridays and Saturdays are weekend days in Dubai although, recently, more companies are switching to Saturday and Sunday. This means Thursday nights are often treated like Fridays, with higher numbers of people in the malls, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

Most coffee shops open early in the morning, around 7-8 a.m., and close late at night, around 10-11 p.m. Dubai has a great café culture (as the majority here do not drink alcohol), so some also offer 24-hour service or delivery. Restaurants tend to start serving dinner around 6 p.m. and close up around midnight or later. During Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, most restaurants are closed during the day and open after sunset, around 7-8 p.m. Stores typically open around 10 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. or later.

Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina: These popular areas are well-connected and close to the main tourist attractions. Hotels here tend to be pretty pricey, but you'll find plenty of reasonable Airbnbs/vacation rentals if you're not prepared to splash out. Some of the best hotels include the Address Dubai Marina and the Armani Hotel .

Jumeirah Beach and The Palm: Beach lovers and luxury seekers will love these two districts due to their stunning resorts and exclusive experiences. You've probably seen pictures of the famous Atlantis The Palm , but we personally adore the One&Only The Palm boutique hotel.

The Creek and Deira: History buffs and bargain hunters prefer these neighborhoods because of their authentic atmospheres. Radisson Blu Deira Creek and Sheraton Dubai Creek are two budget-friendly hotels in The Creek. Deira is also conveniently close to the airport, so you may want to check in the night before your departure.

It's easy and relatively cheap to get around Dubai. The metro and taxis are the most common modes of transport. The metro has two lines: the Red Line and the Green Line. It operates from 5 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends. You'll find women-only carriages on every train.

However, some areas aren't well connected, requiring a fair bit of walking between stations to reach your destination, which isn’t ideal when the weather's heating up. Taxis are everywhere in Dubai, with Uber and Careem being the most popular (and trustworthy) providers. Just keep in mind that traffic can be pretty intense, so always leave more time than you need.

If you're planning to visit Dubai, you'll find a stirring mix of profound traditions and futuristic vision wrapped into starkly evocative desert splendour.

Burj Khalifa

Dubai is famous for its dramatic skyscrapers, and above them all looms the Burj Khalifa , shaped like a deep-space rocket and, at 828m, the world's tallest building. It's a stunning feat of architecture and engineering, and a trip to the observation deck on the 124th floor (1483ft) is the most popular way to take in the amazing views it offers. Clad in 28,000 glass panels, the Burj Khalifa also lays claim to several more superlatives, including the highest occupied floor and an elevator with the longest travel distance. On hazy days, it’s better to visit at night.

Al Fahidi Historic District

Wandering around this restored heritage area in Bur Dubai provides a tangible sense of historic Middle Eastern architecture and culture. Low-lying traditional courtyard buildings flank this quiet labyrinth of lanes in Al Fahidi Historic District , many of them featuring arabesque windows, decorative gypsum screens and wind towers.

Some contain craft shops, small heritage museums, art galleries, artsy guesthouses or cafés serving local fare, including Middle Eastern breakfasts and camel milk smoothies. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding leads guided tours of the quarter.

Dubai Miracle Garden

Covering some 2000 sq metres and touted as the largest natural flower garden in the world, there’s a sense of Alice in Wonderland–esque surrealism when entering Dubai Miracle Garden . Wander past quirky bloom-covered peacocks, clocks and castles, or alternatively, chill out in a cabana with billowing drapes and floor cushions.

Home to 100 million flowers, and adjacent to the enormous nine-dome Dubai Butterfly Garden, it is incredibly popular, attracting 55,000 visitors a week. There are food outlets on site as well as a souvenir shop and small trampoline park.

Shop 'til you drop

Shopping malls represent an integral part of the culture and lifestyle in Dubai. Not merely places for maxing out your credit cards on fashion, electronics or gourmet foods, malls are also where locals go to socialize in cafés and restaurants, to catch a movie in a state-of-the-art multiplex or to get adrenaline kicks in an indoor theme park or game arcade. The best and biggest of the bunch is Dubai Mall, which features not only 1300 stores but also a giant aquarium, an indoor ice rink and a genuine dinosaur skeleton.

Serious shoppers can check out the Dubai Shopping Festival, which lures bargain-hunters from around the world. It takes place in January each year, and there are huge discounts in the souqs and malls. The city is abuzz with activities during the festival, ranging from live concerts to fashion shows and nightly fireworks.

Mushrif National Park

One of the oldest parks in Dubai, Mushrif National Park covers more than 5 sq km of natural ghaf forest. Mushrif is located around 15km east of the city centre, and is a haven for birds, including owls, Orphean warblers, hoopoes and black redstarts. Dating from 1974, the park has plenty of manmade attractions as well, including walking trails and bicycle tracks, a large children's playground, a swimming pool and barbecue pits.

Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve

On the outskirts of Sharjah , the 225 sq km Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve accounts for 5% of the Emirate of Dubai's total land. The reserve was established in 1999 and has been involved in projects to reintroduce mountain gazelles, sand gazelles and Arabian oryx.

It's possible to stay inside the reserve at Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa , which was designed for superluxe ecotourism. The reserve is divided into four zones, the third of which is only open to resort guests and the fourth to a small number of desert tour operators, including Arabian Adventures , offering a less costly admission than overnighting at the resort.

IMG Worlds of Adventure

In 2016, Dubai added four theme parks to its stable of attractions, including IMG Worlds of Adventure , the world's largest indoor theme park. Housed in an air-conditioned hangar the size of 28 football fields, the park is truly impressive, with more than 20 rides and attractions split across four themed zones – Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard. You won't go hungry as there are 28 dining outlets to choose from.

Etihad Museum

Opened in 2017, the striking Etihad Museum engagingly chronicles the birth of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, spurred by the discovery of oil in the 1950s and the withdrawal of the British in 1968.

Documentary films, photographs, artifacts, timelines and interactive displays zero in on historic milestones in the years leading up to and immediately following this momentous occasion, and they pay homage to the country's seven founding fathers. Free tours of the adjacent circular Union House are available, which is where the historic signing of the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates took place.

For a dose of Arabian Nights flair, head to Dubai's historic core and plunge headlong into its charmingly chaotic warren of markets. The famed headliner is the dazzling Gold Souq . Dubai Museum

Dubai Design District

This hub for creatives lures visitors with its edgy architecture, contemporary restaurants, public art, galleries and calendar of cultural events. Dubai Butterfly Garden

Museum of Illusions

It opened in 2018 and the Museum of Illusions in the Al Seef district is fast becoming a favorite for families and Instagram fans. Kids will love the 150-plus illusions, including the rooms of mirrors, distorted perspective and various other optical illusions, while parents can take memorably wacky photos. Avoid visiting at weekends if possible, as visitors are restricted by number and you may have to wait your turn.

Jumeirah Mosque

Snowy white and intricately detailed, Jumeirah is Dubai's most beautiful mosque and one of only a handful in the United Arab Emirates open to non-Muslims. It's particularly beautiful at dusk and visitors are allowed in six days a week. One-hour guided tours are operated by the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding , and while modest dress is preferred, traditional clothing can be borrowed for free.

Dubai Fountain

The dancing Dubai Fountain is spectacularly set in the middle of a giant lake against the backdrop of the glittering Burj Khalifa. Water undulates as gracefully as a belly dancer, arcs like a dolphin and surges as high as 140m, all synced to stirring classical, Arabic and world music soundtracks played on speakers. There are plenty of great vantage points, including a 272m-long floating boardwalk, which takes you just 9m away from the fountain.

Other good viewing spots include some of the restaurants at Souk Al Bahar , the bridge linking Souk Al Bahar with Dubai Mall, the Dubai Mall waterfront terrace, or aboard a 25-minute Dubai Fountain Lake Ride on a traditional wooden abra boat.

Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

The long-running annual Emirates Airline Festival of Literature brings authors and thousands of book fans together to celebrate all things reading and writing. Held over nine days in March, the festival hosts talks, discussions, panels and a special program just for children, with many activities free to attend. It offers attendees a chance to meet local and world-famous authors, attend literary debates and workshops, participate in competitions and be inspired by their literary heroes.

Global Village

The carnival-like Global Village is a bit like a ‘world fair’ for shoppers, and you'll find it on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). Each of the 30-something pavilions showcases a specific nation’s culture and products. Aside from shopping, there's also lots of entertainment – from Chinese opera to Turkish whirling dervishes – as well as a funfair with dozens of rides from tame to terrifying.

Burj Al Arab

This landmark luxe hotel, with its dramatic design that mimics the billowing sail of a ship, floats on its own artificial island and has become the iconic symbol of Dubai’s boom years. The Burj Al Arab's interior is all about impact, drama and unapologetic bling, with dancing fountains, gold fittings, shiny marble and whirlpool baths your butler can fill with champagne if you so wish. If a stay exceeds your budget, you can still partake in the opulence by making reservations for cocktails, afternoon tea or dinner in the underwater restaurant.

Dubai Frame

Opened in January 2018, this 150m rectangular 'picture frame' sits in Zabeel Park , right between historic and modern Dubai, and provides grand views of both parts of the city. Galleries on the ground floor of Dubai Frame tell the story of Dubai (the past) before visitors are whisked up to a viewing platform at roof level (the present). The final stop is another gallery depicting a vision of Dubai 50 years from now (the future).

Al Qudra Lake

One for the nature lovers, Al Qudra Lake is a series of man-made lakes set amidst the rolling dunes of the Saih Al Salam desert on Dubai’s southern outskirts. Part of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, the surrounding area is unspoiled. Swap skyscrapers for wide open dunes and oasis-like pools where you can spot plenty of free-roaming wildlife, more than 100 species of birds and several desert plants.

This long, pristine stretch of white sand, off Jumeirah Road and next to a mosque, is superclean and has lots of activities, including kitesurfing, beach tennis, beach volleyball and kayaking. There are showers, wi-fi, toilets and changing facilities on Kite Beach , plus lots of food trucks and cafés. It offers great views of the Burj Al Arab, and gets very busy on Friday and Saturday when a seaside market with crafts and gifts sets up.

Perfume Museum

The waterfront Perfume Museum is part of the Al Shindagha Museum restoration project and is the former home of a Dubai sheikha who loved all things perfume. The old building has been restored and its interactive exhibits are based around scent, smells and fragrance. Keep your entry ticket and you’ll get free access to the nearby Dubai Creek House .

Steps from the Deira Old Souk abra station, the sound of Arabic chatter bounces around the lanes of this covered market. Dubai's famous Spice Souk is filled with intoxicating sights and smells. Its vendors work hard to unload cardamom, saffron and other aromatic herbs photogenically stored in burlap sacks alongside nuts, incense burners, henna kits, shishas and dried limes. Away from the tourist-oriented main thoroughfare, tiny shops also sell groceries and other household goods.

How does Sunrise in Dubai change over the year?

Positioned in the northern hemisphere on the 25th parallel, Dubai’s daylight hours tend to vary only marginally throughout the year.

You get to experience longer days during the summer months, with June having the longest daylight hours of almost 13:40 hours. On the other hand, the winter months here have the shortest daylight hours of approximately 10 hours.

The sunrise during summer can take place around 5:30 am, and in December it can be as late as 7:00 am.

The subtle difference you will find is that the winter months’ sunrise can also be accompanied by thick fog, so you may end up with a blanket of white until the sun starts to shine through by mid-morning.

But it’s also a rapidly growing city with countless new tourist attractions springing up like mushrooms and choosing which places to visit and which ones to skip might look like a daunting task…

So to help you figure out where to go and what to see in Dubai, in this guide we share the  VERY BEST sights and TOP tourist attractions in Dubai that are worth your time the most . In addition, we also include a few fun experiences for those looking to experience Dubai beyond the ‘musts’.

1. Burj Khalifa

If there is one place you have to see in Dubai, it’s Burj Khalifa , the tallest building in the world. This iconic skyscraper is the most visited landmark in Dubai.

While you will see Burj Khalifa from all over the city, it’s most impressive when seen from the bottom. So don’t miss that!

In addition, no trip to Dubai would be complete without ascending to the 124th and 125th floors for breathtaking views of the city skyline, coastline, and desert. For an extra price, you can also visit the SKY Level on the 148th floor.

Good to know: Standard tickets include timed-entry access to 124-125th floors. However, even with a dedicated time slot, be prepared to queue for a long time. The SKY Level 124,125, and 148th floors ticket is more expensive, but includes skip-the-line access for the security check and elevator. It also includes access to the lounge with snacks and drinks.

PRO TIP: Whatever option you choose, be sure to book your tickets online in advance or you may not be able to visit at all. If you want to catch the sunset at the top, be sure to book a time slot at least 1.5 hours before the sunset time (just beware that those time slots are also more expensive).

2. Dubai Mall

You might be wondering why in the world we list a shopping mall as one of the must-see places in Dubai… Well, the Dubai Mall is not just a shopping paradise, but a destination in itself. Plus, it’s located right at the Burj Khalifa so you’ll come here anyway.

The largest shopping mall in the world, Dubai Mall has over 1,200 shops, including high-end designer stores and flagship fashion brands. In addition, you can choose from more than 200 restaurants and food outlets. But it’s worth coming here even if you are not interested in shopping and dining.

You can’t miss the gigantic Dubai Aquarium – the centerpiece of the Mall, or you can get a ticket and visit inside. There are also huge waterfalls, a 155 million-year-old dinosaur skeleton, an Olympic-size ice skating rink, a mini-city for kids KidZania , and countless other attractions. You could literally spend several days in here and still not see it all…

TIP: If you want to visit the aquarium, opt for a combo ticket that includes Burj Khalifa + Dubai Aquarium. Otherwise, the aquarium price is really steep for what it is.

3. Dubai Fountain Show

The captivating Dubai Fountain Show can be seen on the Burj Lake right outside the Dubai Mall, at the foot of Burj Khalifa. It’s a mesmerizing water, music, and light show that takes place multiple times a day and is FREE to watch.

The world’s tallest performing fountain, it dances for a few minutes to a selection of different melodies ranging from popular hits to traditional Arabic and classical music.

Good to know: The Dubai Fountain shows run every half an hour from 6 PM to 11 PM. There is also a performance at 1.30 PM, plus at 1 PM on weekdays and 2 PM on weekends.

PRO TIP: If you are looking for something nice to do in Dubai, book a boat ride on Burj Lake during a fountain show . It takes just 30 minutes and is not expensive (definitely for Dubai standards). Everyone in our family really enjoyed it.

4. Old Dubai & Traditional Souks

Dubai has more to offer than its modern landmarks and one of the best places to experience the authentic side of Dubai is its Old Town .

Be sure to visit the historic neighborhood of Al Fahidi (formerly known as Bastakiya), cross Dubai Creek on a traditional  Abra boat , and don’t miss the best traditional markets in Dubai – the Gold Souk and Spice Souk .

To be completely honest, the Al Fahidi neighborhood is not that authentic, but has the feel of an overly nicely restored open-air museum. You can wander through a few picturesque narrow alleyways lined with wind-tower houses, art galleries, and quaint cafes. There are also several tiny museums and some traditional shops selling souvenirs to tourists.

Nevertheless, it’s the best place to catch a glimpse of old Dubai and get a better understanding of the fascinating journey of the fascinating expansion of the UAE in just a few decades. The transformation of a few tiny fishing villages in the desert to the global metropolises of the 21st century is nothing short of remarkable.

PRO TIP:  Visit the old town  with a local guide ! That way, you can be sure to see all the musts but also learn more about the history of Dubai. The tours are very affordable and some also include local food and drinks. We visited the Dubai old town and traditional markets on different occasions, most recently with this highly-rated tour and I can highly recommend it as one of the top experiences in Dubai.

5. Dubai Marina

Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and filled with luxury yachts, Dubai Marina is one of the must-see places where you can experience the glitz and glamour of Dubai.

The best way to explore the area is by taking a leisurely stroll along the promenade known as Marina Walk. It’s almost 3 kilometers long and is lined with upscale restaurants, trendy cafes, and luxury boutiques. If you don’t want to walk the entire length, focus on the area close to Marina Mall or join a guided  e-scooter tour .

For a unique perspective, hop on a luxury yacht cruise – it’s a great and very relaxing way to see some of the most impressive skylines. If you are looking for a more traditional experience, you can also opt for a dhow dinner cruise to admire the dazzling skyline illuminated against the night sky.

There is so much more to do at the Dubai Marina than just enjoy the scenery! You can go  jet skiing , parasailing , zip line across the Marina , or even dine in the sky .

6. Dubai Desert

Dubai has grown into a huge ultra-modern metropolis, but its roots are still in the desert. So no trip would be complete without seeing the Dubai desert. Even if just for the contrast and to get a better understanding of how remarkable the journey of the UAE has been.

Let me be very honest with you – the desert around Dubai is not that impressive, especially if we compare it to places like e.g. Sossusvlei in Namibia or Death Valley in the USA. However, there are many exhilarating desert safari experiences, such as dune bashing in a 4×4 , quad rides , camel riding , hot-air balloon flights , etc. and these are well worth your time.

In addition, most Dubai safari tours include a visit to a desert camp, built in a traditional Bedouin style. Here, you can indulge in Arabian BBQ dinner and taste all kinds of local food, see the national bird of the UAE – the falcon, or get a henna tattoo. In the evenings, you can also see all kinds of traditional performances such as Tanoura dance, belly dancing, or fire shows.

Good to know: There are  many desert tour options and most of them last 4 to 7 hours. The desert camp experience is similar on all evening tours, but be sure to read the tour description to choose the main activity (jeep, quad, camel, etc.) that best aligns with your interests. For example, most desert tours include a very short camel ride (for a picture), but only a few offer a longer camel ride experience.

Our experience:  We have been on two desert tours in Dubai (on different trips) and really enjoyed them both. One of them included dune bashing in a jeep and the other one – camel riding . They both included dinner and other desert camp experiences.

7. Dubai Museum Of The Future

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Museum of the Future is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubai. The remarkable building is a must-see, but the museum itself is quite interesting and well worth a few hours of your time.

The museum is very interactive and showcases Dubai’s vision of the future and what it will look like some 50 years from now. They cover all kinds of topics like space travel, artificial intelligence, and robotics, but also climate change, healthcare, spirituality, etc.

PRO TIP:   Reserve tickets for the museum at least a few weeks before your trip. When we traveled, they were sold out for almost 3 weeks, not even to mention being able to pick a time slot that fits your itinerary. Also, if you can, book the first time slot in the morning so that you can enjoy the interactive exhibits before it gets too crowded.

8. Sky Views Observatory & Sky Edge Walk

Sky Views Observatory  offers a great view of Dubai’s Downtown. It’s also one of the best places to admire the iconic Burj Khalifa from a higher angle at a rather close distance.

In addition, you can also walk over a glass-bottom walkway, slide down a transparent tube at the side of the building, or – for an additional fee – do the Sky Edge Walk on an open-air platform on the 52nd floor.

Good to know:  Regular tickets are very affordable and much cheaper than the Burj Khalifa tickets. But if you are not afraid of heights and have some extra time, we highly recommend a ticket that also includes the Edge Walk – it’s one of the most unique things to do in Dubai!

9. Global Village

Global Village Dubai  is one of the most popular attractions in Dubai, popular with locals as well as international visitors. Just as the name suggests, it’s a place where you can experience a wide variety of cultures from all over the world.

With over 90 countries represented, it’s a unique opportunity to get acquainted with different countries, sample traditional foods, or purchase some interesting souvenirs. There are also cultural shows and live performances.

It’s a bit like a big country fair, but very unique because of its global character.

Good to know:  A visit to Global Village is very affordable and  entry tickets  cost just around $6. However, you’ll have to pay extra for most of the rides and attractions inside.

PRO TIP:  Avoid weekends and try to arrive around the opening time (usually around 4 pm, but during Ramadan around 6 pm). Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest.

10. Palm Jumeirah

The Palm Jumeirah  is a man-made palm-tree-shaped island in the Arabian Gulf and connected to the city via tunnels and bridges and tunnels. The Palm is home to upscale residences, luxury hotels, and beachfront resorts, including the famous Atlantis, The Palm .

There are several places of interest to see at the Palm including the best water park in Dubai, Atlantis Aquaventure and Dolphin Bay, Lost Chambers Aquarium, and several luxurious sky pool experiences.

If you just want to catch a glimpse of this remarkable feat of engineering, visit The View at The Palm Observatory . From here, you can enjoy 360° views of the city and the Arabian Gulf, including an elevated view of this unique palm island.

PRO TIP: For the best aerial views and to fully appreciate The Palm, opt for a  sightseeing helicopter tour .

11. Burj Al Arab

Burj Al Arab  is one of the most recognizable symbols of Dubai. The sail-shaped luxury hotel was opened in December 1999 and was the first one in a series of Dubai’s most remarkable landmarks that were built in the 21st century.

One of the world’s most luxurious and most expensive hotels, Burj Al Arab is not only impressive from the outside. Inside, you can admire its lavish interiors and find some extravagant experiences such as its world-famous gold cappuccino.

Good to know: A stay at this hotel will quickly cost you over $1,500 per night. But a tour of the interior is much more affordable. For an additional fee, you can upgrade to the luxury tour to include a visit to the 25th floor (where the Royal Suites are located) and a sip of the gold cappuccino.

12. Souk Madinat Jumeirah

NICE TO SEE

Located just near the Burj Al Arab,  Souk Madinat Jumeirah  is a bustling indoor market that combines traditional Arabian architecture and Middle Eastern charm with modern-day comforts such as air conditioning and meticulously clean facilities.

You will find an array of little shops here selling all kinds of traditional merchandise and souvenirs. There are also bakeries, cafes, and a variety of restaurants.

With small rivers, little bridges, and traditional Arabian architecture, the area feels like a charming little town. You can walk around or take a boat on the picturesque waterways offering nice views of the Burj Al Arab.

Good to know: You can easily combine a visit to the Souk with that of Burj Al Arab. Boat rides can just be booked and paid at the spot.

13. Dubai Frame

The Dubai Frame  is another remarkable landmark that you have to see in Dubai. This colossal picture frame is visible from afar so you can’t really miss it. But it’s also possible to visit it inside.

The 150-meter-high observation deck has a glass-bottomed walkway and also offers panoramic 360° views of both old and new Dubai.

The views are quite nice, but not nearly comparable to those from Burj Khalifa, Sky Views, or the View at The Palm. On the other hand, the structure is absolutely unique and we personally found it worth a visit.

Good to know:  Depending on the season and time of day, it can be very busy here. Be sure to  book tickets online  and if you can, try to visit either early in the morning or in the evening.

14. Miracle Garden

Miracle Garden  is a must-see in Dubai for everyone who loves flowers, colors, and all kinds of quirky displays. From cartoon characters like the Smurfs to gigantic swans and from colorful castles to a life-size A380 Airbus plane – everything here is covered in flowers.

The world’s largest natural flower garden, Dubai Miracle Garden features over 150 million flowers. However, don’t expect a big variety of flowers here. There are not many plants that do well in such a hot and dry climate, so the majority of floral displays are created using petunias.

Good to know:  Buy skip-the-line tickets online and plan an hour or two for a visit. It’s quietest in the morning. However, many people combine a visit here to that of the nearby Global Village, and the latter only opens late in the afternoon, so keep that in mind if you want to visit both attractions on the same day.

15. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark & Lost Chambers Aquarium

NICE TO SEE (MUST DO if visiting with kids)

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is the biggest water park in the world and by far the best one in Dubai. Featuring over 100 water rides and attractions from splash pools to adrenaline-rushing water slides, Aquaventure is great for all ages.

In addition, you can also meet sea lions or swim with dolphins, and enjoy all kinds of water sports. You can visit the Lost Chambers Aquarium which is located at the same place.

This is a must-do if you are visiting Dubai with kids (especially teenagers!), but it’s definitely not just for families.

PRO TIP:  Atlantis Aquaventure tickets are cheaper if booked online, and you can save a bit more if you book at least a week in advance. We recommend  a combo ticket  that includes entry to the Lost Chambers Aquarium. Here you can find more ticket options , including dolphin experiences.

16. AYA Universe

AYA Universe  is one of our family’s favorite places to visit in Dubai. It’s not a must-do, but it’s also a very unique experience that will leave you speechless.

A visit to AYA is like stepping into a series of different fairytale-like worlds, with colorful light displays and captivating high-tech experiences. Some of the rooms reminded us of the beautiful dreamy universe created in Avatar films .

We visited AYA Universe with our teens who are hard to impress, and they loved it. We spent much more time than expected here, wandering through different rooms and simply sitting down and enjoying the moment. It’s such a nice and positive experience. We loved it!

Good to know:  Book your  tickets online and count about 45-60 minutes for a visit. If you want to enjoy it without too many people around, we recommend booking the earliest time slot.

17. Dubai Beaches

Dubai has many beaches and since the temperatures are suitable for swimming the whole year round, you may want to plan to spend some time at the beach. By far the best way to do this is by choosing a hotel that has its own private beach or is located near one of the public beaches.

One of the nicest public beaches in Dubai is Marina Beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence. There is a very nice waterfront area here with tons of cafes and restaurants and lots of hotels. Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach is one of the most popular options here.

We once stayed at Doubletree by Hilton JBR Beach nearby which has its own private beach, but we walked to this area all the time because it was so nice. We had most of our lunches and dinners at Marina Beach unless we were away sightseeing.

Jumeirah Public Beach is another beautiful Dubai beach that is well worth visiting. In addition to white sands and swimming, here you can also enjoy a view of the iconic Burj Al Arab which makes a great backdrop for your vacation pictures. Jumeirah Beach Hotel is a very nice place to stay in this area and all guests enjoy free access to the adjacent Wild Wadi Waterpark.

La Mer Beach further north and closer to the city center is also worth checking out. This area is still developing but already has a nice hip feel. We recently stayed at the Rove La Mer Beach Hotel and really enjoyed it. The location is also great for sightseeing since it’s so close to the downtown area.

More Ideas for Things to Do in Dubai

There is SO MUCH to see and do in Dubai that it’s impossible to cover all those experiences in one article (or visit in one trip). Nevertheless, I want to highlight some additional places and attractions that I think are certainly worth it.

So here are some additional recommendations for fun things to do in Dubai:

• La Perle by Dragone is the #1 show in Dubai. This is a mind-blowing acrobatic show in, on, and above water and in the air. If you enjoy Cirque de Soleil shows, you’ll love this one!
• The Green Planet   is an indoor rainforest with a wide variety of tropical plants, birds, and animals such as sloths, squirrel monkeys, etc. It’s great for families but is enjoyable for all age groups.
• Dubai Butterfly Garden is a great place to see all kinds of colorful butterflies from all over the world. It’s located just next to the earlier-mentioned Miracle Garden so you can easily visit both.
• iFly Dubai is an indoor skydiving center. If you ever wanted to try skydiving but didn’t dare, this is your chance to give it a try in a safe and controlled environment. Our kids loved this!
• Skydiving . If you rather try the real thing, there are quite a few possibilities to go skydiving in Dubai. The views are amazing!
• Skiing and snow experiences . If you want to experience winter in the desert, you can go skiing in Dubai. But that’s not it! They have other snow experiences as well such as a Giant Ball, Bobsled, Tubing Run, and Bump Car to mention a few.
• Water sports , jet skiing , parasailing , etc.
• Theme parks and water parks. There is no shortage of all kinds of theme parks in Dubai. Some of the best include IMG Worlds of Adventure and LEGOLAND Dubai (this one also has a water park). If you are looking for more water parks, check out Wild Wadi as well – it’s a lot smaller than Aquaventure if you want to avoid the big crowds.
• Day trips to the other Emirates. The most popular are day trips to Abu-Dhabi , but you can also visit Al Ain ‘Garden City’ or go on a snorkeling day trip to Fujairah .

At a jaw-dropping height of 828 meters, the Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest man-made building. There are two different observation decks, one on the 124th level and one on the 148th level. Opt to visit one or both of the decks; no matter which one you choose, you can’t go wrong.

Enter the Burj Khalifa via the Dubai Mall. Before you board the elevator, you’ll see an interesting presentation on Dubai’s journey from an ordinary fishing village to an extraordinary hub of astonishing sights and attractions. Once you arrive at the observation deck, look around for the most breathtaking 360-degree views of Dubai’s skyline, desert, ocean, and beyond. If you have enough time, make sure to take in the sunset view.

Next, head out of the Burj Khalifa and find a spot to admire the stunning Dubai Fountain show, set at Burj Lake just outside of the Dubai Mall. This choreographed aquatic performance in perfect harmony of light and music is so magnificent that it’s hard to miss. Looking for the perfect spot to see the show? Go on an abra ride along Burj Lake, hit the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk, or choose to dine at a restaurant that overlooks the show. 

Day 2 in Dubai: Visit a Theme Park & Spend the Evening at Palm Fountain

Morning: pay a visit to one of dubai’s theme parks.

You can’t visit Dubai without checking out one of its theme parks. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or just looking for some more relaxing fun, Dubai’s theme parks cater to every desire. Depending on your preferences, take your pick from one of these:

IMG Worlds of Adventure: This is the world’s largest indoor theme park, so you can imagine the loads of thrilling rides and amusing attractions that await you. The park has four distinct zones: Marvel, Cartoon Network, dinosaur-inspired Lost Valley, and IMG Boulevard.  Purchase tickets to IMG Worlds of Adventure here.

Dubai Parks and Resorts: Want to hop from one theme park to another in a few hours? This is the place to go. Dubai Parks and Resorts is the region’s first integrated resort where you’ll find multiple accommodations, a dedicated retail/dining section, and of course, four different theme parks: MOTIONGATE Dubai , Bollywood Parks Dubai , LEGOLAND Dubai , and LEGOLAND Water Park. Whether you want to visit multiple parks or just one, there are packages (like this two park pass ) to help you get the most out of your visit.

Ski Dubai: A favorite hangout among locals, Ski Dubai is a snow-themed park and is one of the coolest places in the city. Here, you can enjoy snow activities in a setting that is nothing short of a winter wonderland. Come here prepared to ski, snowboard, sled – even when the outside temperature is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Evening: The View at the Palm Jumeirah & Palm Fountain Show

For an incredible end to your action-packed day, head to The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah to watch the Palm Fountain show! One of Dubai’s newest attractions, the Palm Fountain show is a scaled-up version of the Dubai Fountain Show. The Palm Fountain is the world’s largest musical fountain, and is the region’s only fountain show with colored lights.

Adjacent to the Pointe is the Palm Tower, which is home to another new Dubai landmark – the View at the Palm Jumeirah. Here, you can get full panoramic views of the famous Palm Jumeirah from a 240-meter high observation deck. This is the perfect spot to end an evening on one of your three days in Dubai.

Day 3 in Dubai: Morning Desert Safari and a Dhow Cruise

The last day of your 3-day Dubai trip revolves around adventure, nature, and culture. Start the day off with a morning desert safari. With transfers included in most tours, a desert safari in Dubai takes you to one of Dubai’s most pristine areas that remains unscathed by development. Experience the desert with exciting activities like 4×4 dune bashing, a camel ride, sand boarding, and quad biking.

After your desert safari, spend the afternoon doing some souvenir shopping, or visit a few more famous Dubai landmarks like the Dubai Frame or The Green Planet , Dubai’s indoor rainforest.

Up and at ’em, mama! Here are the best spots to grab a cup of Joe and an early morning breakfast in Dubai with the family.

You’re up early – courtesy of the kids (the same ones you have to shake awake during the week). So while the rest of the city sleeps and enjoys a lovely lie-in (or at least that’s how it feels), get out and about for breakfast and a huge dose of caffeine. These are some of our fave spots for an early weekend breakfast mamas!

5am: For any mamas whose little angel sleepers have never woken at this inhumane hour – move on, there’s nothing for you here. And for all you sleep deprived parents..this one’s for you..

Maison Mathis Dusit Thani We’re big fans of this chain (read about their Arabian Ranches location below). And next time our precious little peeps wake us at the crack of dawn (or before), we’re heading right over to the Dusit Thani branch for a quadruple espresso and enormous pile of fluffy waffles while they drink freshly squeezed juice, munch on pastries and burn off some energy!

M’s, Emirates Golf Club Feeling extra hungry, mama? Head to M’s at Emirates Golf Club for the Breakfast Buffet every Friday and Saturday morning. For just 75 AED for adults and 30 AED for kids, you can fill your plates from a buffet including a live egg cooking station and pork bacon and sausages. And did we mention the views of the immaculate manicured golf courses? The kids might not appreciate it, but you certainly will – and they’ll be so busy exploring the buffet stations, they probably wont even notice you zoning out!

Maison Mathis Arabian Ranches Even if you’re not a Ranches mama, this place is so worth an early morning visit with your little ones -not least because there’s a fab little outdoor play area that’s completely secure and within sight of most tables – meaning that once the kids have finished their brekkie they can be let loose while you muster up the strength for the rest of the day! Whether you’re looking for a full English breakfast, organic granola or a pastry filled with Valrhona Chocolate (it’s obviously the latter), this is your place – and the setting is gorgeous – just on the edge of the Arabian Ranches golf course.

Mellow Yellow Even the name of this homely little cafe is enough to chill us out on a much-too-early-morning. Located in Uptown Mirdif, the place is all about family and kids (and was originally set up by an Emirati mama with a love of baking). Everything on the menu is delicious and homemade and they run regular family activities (from cupcake decorating to pizza making) – oh and what could be better than starting your morning with a fabulous cuppa and a good book? Well you can have both here – the reading corner is choc full of books for all ages. Perfect.

Reform at The Lakes Club We advise sitting outside at Reform, so head over early before it gets too hot (it opens at 7am, so it’s the perfect spot for early risers). While you tuck into your egg dishes, pastries, and frothy cappuccinos, little ones can let off steam in the kids play area or kick around a ball on the grass (bring sun cream and hats!) And if you’re craving a bacon butty after a late night and painfully early morning (sore head, mama?), you’re in luck as Reform has a pork license!

Shakespeare & Co The thing we love the most about this little eatery in Jumeirah Village Mall (other than their watermelon juice?). The little kiddie room complete with beanbags and cartoons on loop (oh come on, early mornings require the tv babysitter every now and then right?!). The Arabian Ranches location also has a kids room if that’s more convenient while the Emirates Hills site has the largest pâtisserie and chocolate counter of the lot. Just sayin’. Sophie’s Cafe Roll your buggy in for a freshly squeezed juice and all the usual breakfast fare (but with a healthy twist) at this friendly little Palm Jumeirah local. The staff are super relaxed about kids romping about and the fresh interiors complete with lush greenery offer a welcome respite from the heat.

Starbucks Jumeirah 2 We don’t need to go into detail about what you’ll find here – it’s a menu of caffeine – or liquid sanity – and all the usual Starbucks stuff including croissants and fruit salad. But you don’t come here for the food. The thing about this particular branch is that there’s a little outdoor play area with a slide and climbing structure that’s fenced off from the road and that’ll keep the kids busy enough to allow you to enjoy a much needed coffee and muffin before heading home.

7.30am: That half hour extra in bed made all the difference but frankly you’d still rather be asleep. Make it all more bearable with a cuppa and a treat out…

Arabian Tea House Cafe More than 100 varieties of tea (and at 7.30am you have time to try them all before the day is supposed to start), a stunning courtyard setting and a slice of Arabian culture – this place ticks many boxes mamas. The kids will love wandering the sleepy streets of the historic Al Fahidi district before recharging their batteries with fresh juices and home baked bread. A lovely way to spend a weekend morning if you combine it with a little trip down the creek too.

Bookmunch Cafe This cosy little resto has always been a Sassy Mama fave and they throw open their doors at 7:30am. You’ll be able to tuck into their amazing offerings, ranging from your traditional Continental breakfast through to sweet treats like their Cinammon and Nutmeg French Toast. They’ve got a number of books and reading spots if the family’s brains are working that early in the morning and their kids menu is themed after popular children’s stories – too cute!

Lime Tree Cafe Lime Tree needs no introduction – but head to any of its cafes on a weekend morning and you’re guaranteed to find a chilled vibe, really good coffee and a kids breakfast menu including eggs ‘n soldiers plus homemade baked beans and scrummy muffins. Oh and there are kids books and toys for the minis to get busy with while you finish up.

Tasha’s Pimp up your toast – no seriously, this is actually on the menu – or try ‘jett & luke’s mini breakfast rolls’ (no idea who these guys are but we love them a little bit now we’ve tasted their idea of brekkie). The Tasha’s menu is so good you’ll have trouble ordering, but that’s just more reason to visit often right? Take breakfast at leisure and then let the kids climb the walls next door at Adventure HQ when it opens its doors at 10am – you’ll be home in time for a late morning nap.

Baker and Spice Even just the sight of Baker and Spice’s menu makes us drool. Expect eggs and eggs done  well , from a delish Eggs Benedict to their Turkish Eggs offering, poached eggs served on toasted pepper and olive oil pita with labnah. (More adventurous mamas can opt for the spicy Shakoushaka!) Located in the gorgeous Marina, the tots will be able to watch the city come to life as you tuck in.

Clinton Street Baking Company For the best flippin’ pancakes in town – seriously – get over to New York favourite Clinton Street Bakery where the chefs are dishing out American Classics made with the highest quality (and often organic) ingredients made with lots of love (and butter). Because frankly everyone deserves a treat at the weekend and if it can’t be a lie-in then blueberry pancakes smothered in maple butter are the next best thing.

Fraiche Breakfast’s the most important meal of the day and you deserve to eat well, mamas! Fraiche prides itself on its low key fine dining experience and their entire menu has our mouths watering: think classics with a twist such as their Maryland Eggs Benedict (poached eggs and sauteed leeks on crab cakes, topped with basil hollandaise) or the Banana Bread Caramel French Toast which the kiddos will go nuts for. Breakfast doesn’t get much better than this.

Mo’s Diner Kick off your weekend at this Manhattan-inspired eatery at Jumeirah’s CITYWALK development. With slick décor, a warm ambience, and a great kids menu, it will please the whole family! You wont be able to resist pinching a bite or two of the kids-size buttermilk pancakes – and if you are suffering from sleep deprivation (3am feeding session, anyone?), the generous pots of coffee will fuel you for the day ahead.

Roseleaf Cafe at Dubai Garden Centre  There’s nothing that soothes an early start more than being surrounded by lots of lovely greenery (especially if you’ve had a big night mamas). The Roseleaf Café is a really sweet vintage style spot that serves yummy homemade cakes, delicious RAW coffee and tables dotted about in a greenhouse and in Dubai Garden Centre itself. A box of toys will keep your early risers occupied AND there are fish to go and see in the little aquarium just around the corner plus delish treats to bribe them with when you need a few minutes of peace and quiet.

Spill The Bean Cafe This independent specialty coffee shop has been set up by Sassy Mama Ola Sinno and brews single origin coffees and supreme quality blends that are 100% Organic AND 100% Fair Trade. Clap, clap! But that’s not all, they also have a lovely selection of low fat, vegan and dairy free bites for brekkie and lunch  plus  loads of gluten-free cakes to enjoy. AND there’s a little room full of toys for the littles to rummage in, plus Sunset Mall is perfect for running about (or scooting) in while most people are still asleep. Definitely worth the trip.

The Change Initiative No chance of boredom or empty calories here, as there are tasty wholesome dishes on the menu and kids over five can wander over to the store’s free play area, whilst youngsters can choose a few toys to bring into the café with them (after all, quiet babies and toddlers make for happy breakfasts!). When you’ve done eating, make sure to browse this packed store of environmentally friendly products (eco conscious mamas, get ready to shop) for everything from cleaning products to toys.

The Pavilion Downtown Dubai We love this urban cafe – be it as a place to set up the laptop and churn through masses of work over copious amounts of (very good) coffee, or a place to grab a bite with the fam (there’s a small kiddie area too mamas)! An indoor vertical garden wall offers a welcome splash of green when outdoors is so hot and out of bounds and the menu is jam packed with healthy food disguised as yummy options.

The Sum Of Us Mmmm, is there anything better than a warm buttered slice of homemade sourdough bread? The Sum Of Us has a comfort menu inspired by all those good old family favourites, sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. Their menu’s pretty international as well with pastries, breakfast ramen, patatas bravas and a delicious smashed avocado on toast with veal ham and poached eggs. Stick around for lunch and dinner as well, the menu’s a winner.

Tom & Serg Tom and Serg we salute you. Not only is everything on the menu completely yummy but the space is chilled and not intimidating at all for parents with energetic little people, there are books and toys to discover and the coffee is like rocket fuel (go for a mug of Magic; a drink with a  magic ratio  of 1:4 espresso to milk, the perfect antidote to early mornings with the kids). Watch out for the latest T&S venue to open in MOE soon mamas!

8.30am: Now this is a little more like it – we’re celebrating a bit more sleep with an enormous pile of pancakes…

Bystro If Bystro’s gorgeous Mediterranean entrance doesn’t win you over, then their modern bistro menu will. With delish homemade breads, chutneys and more available, the big family pleaser is the Kid’s Corner where the tots will be able to entertain themselves while you and your other half catch up over a cup of Joe. It’s a pretty varied menu as well, with everything from Turkish Eggs to Huevos Rancheros – um, yes please.

Comptoir 102 If French kids don’t throw food then we’re getting our brood over for breakfast here. Owned by 2 very sassy French mamas, the menu is healthy (without you knowing it) and the setting completely gorgeous. There’s not much space for them to go wild in – and you definitely wouldn’t want sticky fingers all over the store merchandise – but we think (hope) that the calm environment and French foodie ways will rub off on the kiddos.

The Farm The Farm is something of a little oasis surrounded by greenery and a botanical garden, just a few minutes drive out of Dubai (at Al Barari, the place we dream of living on a daily basis). The menu includes ethically sourced ingredients that change with the seasons and include several gluten-free and vegan options that are healthy but yummy. This place gets mega busy so book before you visit.

Long Weekend in Dubai Itinerary – How to Make the Most of Your 3 Days in Dubai

Are you looking to spend your long weekend in Dubai? In this comprehensive guide, I have got for you a suggested 3 days in Dubai itinerary along with some valuable tips to make the most of your brief trip to one of the grandest corners of the UAE !

Whether you crave a completely relaxing break or a full activity packed retreat with your family and friends, this travel program is all you need to plan your perfect 72 hours in Dubai. It includes a mix of different activities that work great for both active holiday and somewhat slow-paced vacation.

So read on to know how I recommend spending your 3 days in Dubai whether they are part of a long weekend, quick Dubai city break, or perhaps a long layover. Even with limited time you can still do a lot and get an excellent introduction to such a magnificent Arabian city in the UAE!

Resources You’ll Need for a Weekend Trip to Dubai

Before I offer you my version of weekend in Dubai itinerary, I want to share resources that I personally use for planning a trip to Dubai and UAE.

Who Is This Dubai Itinerary For?

While this 3 days itinerary is ideal for first-timers to Dubai and returning visitors alike who haven’t seen much of Dubai yet, it is especially great for those who wish to get a slice of everything that this city offers within a short period of time.

There is so much to see and do in Dubai that most of the time it can be overwhelming (and kind of impossible) to cover it all in a few days. I, therefore, suggest you slow down and go a bit deeper as you see the city’s mix of iconic, quirky and timeless attractions at a super relaxed pace.

Moreover, I have created this program with the assumption that you will have full three days at your disposal (from early morning on the first day till late evening on the third) to spend your weekend in the city.

Is Weekend in Dubai Enough for a Trip?

Usually, it is rather easy to visit many cities around the world on a weekend city break. But with Dubai it’s somewhat different.

On the one hand, Dubai is big and grows so fast. It offers so much entertainment and so many options for vacations that many cities combined don’t offer even a fraction of that, so a weekend in Dubai, even a long one, can be too little time.

On the other hand, Dubai is a pretty expensive city. If you stay there for a long time, you need quite a high amount of money, particularly for accommodation and food. And in many ways, Dubai is similar to other major metropolitan areas. So if you traveled a lot and visited many cities and currently travel on a budget, it is quite possible to see Dubai’s many attractions just in a few days.

Of course, in that case if you go to Dubai for a long weekend or 3 days during the week, you will have to give up visiting the water park, many museums, skip shopping in local malls or some other incredible Dubai sights.

But yet it is very possible to see all the main attractions in a short period of time. Just be ready to wake up early, end your day late, and pack your days with lots of action!

Where to Base Yourself on a Long Weekend in Dubai?

With this little time, you want to stay close to one of Dubai’s centers (such as the old district Al Fahidi, the area around the Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina, or anywhere near them) to be able to get places easily.

I’d avoid staying in Jumeirah Beach, La Mer, or the Palm area if your goal is to do lots of sightseeing. Getting out of those neighborhoods can be time consuming (unless you rent a car) and you may end up spending more time on the road than on actual sightseeing.

Here are a few hotel suggestions for a mid-budget that I’d choose for myself and that are excellent picks for 3 days in Dubai. They go for about $80-$150 per night (depending on the season), are centrally located, and from each of them, it is easy enough to explore the city on your own terms and do independent sightseeing.

CARLTON DUBAI CREEK ( chain hotel ) – 4 star hotel in Old Dubai near Spice Souk (bazaar) and across Al Fahidi. Dubai Creek locates it, so if you book a room on the creek side, you can get a beautiful view of Dubai’s panorama. Baniyas Square metro station is located within less than 10 min walk.

OAKS LIWA HEIGHTS ( all-suites hotel ) – in the JLT area near Dubai Marina, great for those who’d love to cook on their weekend in Dubai as all rooms are suites that come with kitchenettes or full-size kitchens. 

XVA ART HOTEL ( heritage ) – within the heart of historic Al Bastakiya where guests can soak up local culture and feel the history through their stay.

How to Spend Long Weekend in Dubai Itinerary 

Day 1 (friday) in dubai: early morning wandering, city tour, beach/park time & evening dinner cruise.

Since this is a weekend in Dubai itinerary, I make suggestions for three days from Friday to Sunday. And to get the best out of your short 3 days in Dubai visit, make sure that you touch down at the emirate either in the evening on Thursday or in the early morning on Friday.

If you arrive in the morning and cannot check into the hotel, then drop your luggage and take a quick walk in the area where you’ll stay (I assume you chose one of the popular neighborhoods I suggested above) just to get a feel of your surroundings. There will be definitely a lot to check out.

If you arrive on the previous day, then don’t sleep for too long, have breakfast (if staying in Al Bastakia’s historic neighborhood, go to the Arabian Tea House for an authentic Emirati breakfast) and dedicate a bit of time to self-walk. Emirati breakfast, which is similar in some ways to Turkish breakfast , is a must if you are looking to have a cultural experience in Dubai. 

But do not walk for too long as on a short visit to such a city it would be better to get an introduction through a tour. 

Morning – Join the Dubai City Tour

Following a brief self-guided stroll, you can embark on a half-day city sightseeing tour . It is a must-do as this tour lets you take in the region’s both surefire icons and hidden gems in four to five hours.

The best thing is that it comes with the services of a professional guide and includes roundtrip hotel transfers.

Hear the stories behind those parts of Dubai that are drenched in history and culture, such as Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood , Dubai Museum within the city’s oldest fort (Al Fahidi) etc, and indulge in some quick shopping at the traditional Arabian souks or bazaars like Gold Souk , Textile Souk , and Spice Souk .

A drive on a bus through the stunning boulevards and neighborhoods of Dubai Marina , Bluewaters Island , and Sheikh Zayed Road gives you an overview of the city’s ever dynamic and pulsating sights. Apart from these, there will be photo ops at Jumeirah Mosque , Jumeirah Beach , Madinat Jumeirah and Atlantis , The Palm Resort to name a few.

We personally went on this tour from this company as they offer excellent overview tours of the entire city. But GetYourGuide organizes similar tours but oriented more on separate neighborhoods and in-depth experiences in them. Like this private tour with locals for example or a combined Dubai Old Town and street food tour .

Afternoon – Spend Time on One of Dubai’s Beautiful Beaches

After the city tour, you can choose to spend time till evening relaxing in one of the neighborhoods you liked the most (go back using metro or taxi) or go to one of the beaches, or by heading to the region’s top shopping spots.

Among beaches, in my experience, the next ones are the best not only for swimming but overall where to have a fabulous time. And they are La Mer beach which also has a beautiful boardwalk and adjacent park, Kite beach popular for kitesurfing and kayaking, or West Beach famous for Dubai Marina panorama, high-end hotels and bars.

Evening – See La Perle by Dragone Show

Wind up your first day by watching a mesmeric theatrical show, La Perle by Dragon, which is a part-aquatic and part-aerial presentation. It is a very unique spectacle that includes artistic performances, imagery and various special effects while showcasing the story of UAE’s pearl diving history.

With its cast encompassing over 65 brilliant performers from different parts of the world, this water show will take you on a fantastical journey where its every aspect is mesmerizingly pulled off under the expert direction of Franco Dragone who has won immense accolades for his jaw-dropping creations such as La Reve and Cirque de Soleil.

While there are really a lot of things to do in Dubai, I believe La Perle by Dragone show should be on the list of must-do things on any visit because it is a truly one-of-a-kind experience that captures Dubai creative spirit and presents aspirational future.

Purchase your tickets in advance since they are always limited and sell out fast. There is also a chance to combine this show with Dubai water canal cruise and dinner .

Day 2 (Saturday): Ski Dubai, Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall & Another Show

Morning – mall of the emirates with ski dubai & alserkal avenue.

Dubai is all about the malls that tuck away so many sights. This is why today I offer you to devote your time to some of the most grandiose malls that surprise with the number and uniqueness of activities.

Give an icy start to your second day in Dubai by going to Ski Dubai, a mountain-themed attraction with snow. And it is not necessary to go inside to ski on your own to have fun. Seeing this place through the glass window is no less exciting.

If you rent a car in Dubai for the time of your visit (which in my experience is the best bet and I explain why in my post), then on the way to the Mall of the Emirates I suggest you make a stop at the Courtyard community center with classy fountains, greenery, artsy objects, and interesting architecture.

Besides them, there is a number of lovely cafes where to have a meal or coffee. My favorite places for breakfast and morning beverages are Cassette and Boston Lane . If you don’t have breakfast included in a hotel stay, eating here would be a nice start to the day.

Overall, the Courtyard center creates an impression that you are somewhere in India but at the same time like somewhere in Turkey like Bergama or Bodrum . It shows a very different side of Dubai which is well worth seeing.

After light breakfast, you can pop into the Alserkal Avenue hub across the road from the Courtyard. It is an artistic place with an evolving collection of amazing art galleries, old classic vintage cars, instagrammable spots, and cute cafes too. They open at 10, so it makes it perfect to visit them right after breakfast.

With these places, it is easy to lose track of time and spend half a day or even longer just here. So try to start this day 2 in Dubai early. 

After you are done visiting the Courtyard and Alserkal Avenue, continue your way to the Mall of the Emirates and its indoor ski resort Ski Dubai , located inside the mall.

There, with the temperature maintained at a steady 2 degrees Celsius (35 Fahrenheit) throughout the year, this snow-filled attraction is one of the ultimate spots in the Middle East to indulge in a variety of snow activities including skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and zorbing.

If you don’t feel like going inside, find a table by the window in North 28 cafe (from there you can also partially see a penguin show) or simply go to the second floor and watch the action that takes place in Ski Dubai through the window. I’ve been to many ski resorts in Europe and never thought that going to Ski Dubai would be of any interest but it really was!

Afternoon – The Dubai Mall

One of the most interesting places to add to any Dubai itinerary! And a bit of planning in advance will help you with the effective exploration of this massive mall at Downtown Dubai, featuring over 1200 shops, hundreds of dining venues, and of course, tonnes of leisure choices.

Shopping freaks are in for a supreme treat, while connoisseurs of taste will have quite a tough time figuring out where to grab a bite here.

Speaking of its amusement attractions, they cater to every interest. Infinity des Lumières art museum, for instance, is sure to delight art lovers. For action and thrill seekers, there is Ekart Zabeel car racing track, Dubai Ice Rink , and Play DXB  among others. There is a dedicated attraction for your little ones, such as KidZania Dubai .

And of course you can never go wrong with the incredible Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo with over 33,000 marine creatures in its giant 10 million liter tank.

Evening – Burj Khalifa ‘At the Top’ and Dubai Fountain Show

Another totally exciting and must-visit place in Dubai is Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building which stands next to the Dubai Mall. Going up to the 148th floor is once in a lifetime experience which you can’t miss especially if spending only 3 days in Dubai.

With your entry tickets to its ‘At the Top’ observatory deck, you get to catch the stunning views over the whole of Dubai, covering its ocean, desert and city skyline, all from a celestial standpoint.

If this is not enough, get your tickets to Burj Khalifa Sky Level which hosts the world’s highest observation deck at a height of over 555 meters. Regardless of your ticket choice, you get to enjoy one of the world’s fastest elevator rides plus a multimedia display on Dubai’s past as part of your Burj Khalifa visit.

Back on the ground, proceed to Burj Lake that is outside of Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. The major allure here is the dancing fountain show (Dubai Fountain) set on the lake.

This aquatic performance is a definite see for its breathtaking sync of water twirls with music and light. You can watch it for free, but I would advise you to take an abra ride like on the left photo below (charges apply) or hit the dedicated Dubai Boardwalk (charge apply) if you wish to admire the show without the hindrance of any crowd.

My other favorite place where to watch Dubai fountains show is from one of the cafes in this part of the mall (the right photo below is from one of the cafes there) or from that part where you’ll find the Lounge Dubai .

If you want to watch a show in the afternoon instead evening, then just make sure to arrive before 1 pm since afternoon fountain shows happen only at 1 pm and 1:30 pm, which by the way is excellent timing since the fountain area at that time stays rather quiet.

Night – Dubai Cruise

Cap off your second day in Dubai with an enchanting cruise along Dubai’s water at Dubai Marina or Dubai Creek.

Subject to your preference, you can go on a traditional dhow cruise (complete with buffet dinner and folk performance like Tanura dance), stylish cruise through one of the symbols of Dubai Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina evening cruise , or alternatively make it as stylish as possible with a luxury yacht charter Dubai experience.

Whichever your desired cruise is, you can be assured of an unforgettable evening on Dubai’s water.

Day 3 in Dubai (Sunday): Morning Desert Safari, The View At The Palm, Spa Treatment And Departure

Morning – desert safari / hot air balloon ride.

Today, you will wake up to the most magical experiences. Be ready as you will head out to the region’s isolated desert part in the early morning.

Most exhilarating experiences such as the 4X4 dune bashing and the compelling desert sunrise views are the high points of your morning desert safari . Add to this a variety of cultural and traditional activities like camel ride, Emirati breakfast, henna tattooing, Arabian Oryx at the desert camp, and Al Qudra Lakes like with this sunrise jeep safari .

Want to heighten your desert experience in Dubai?

Nothing could probably beat a hot air balloon flight over the desert ! It lets you fly like a mighty bird over the endless stretches of desert sands for more than an hour, giving you a panoramic view over its plant and animal inhabitants.

This airborne activity is a relaxed adventure which means that it can be enjoyed by all age groups and skill levels. Dependent on your package, this activity comprises a lavish breakfast plus an array of desert inspired activities.

Mid-Morning – The View at the Palm

After the desert safari, the company will you bring back to the hotel or one of other points around the city. From there, I suggest you head to another miracle of Dubai – The View at the Palm .

It is not just another viewing deck in Dubai. It has been designed to give you the full view of Palm Jumeirah – the huge man-made island that is a true engineering marvel, especially for its captivating palm-tree-like design complete with a crescent.

The View at the Palm is located on the 52nd level of Palm Towers which also offers some other immersive experiences to keep you occupied there.

Afternoon till Evening – Slow-Paced Walking, Spa or a Quick Drive

You can while away your time till departure by doing some last-minute shopping, checking out an activity or attraction that you have missed out on this weekend in Dubai itinerary, or simply going on a quick drive around Dubai checking other places that you’ll find in my other posts. Roads are excellent, free parking is ample, and driving is so enjoyable in this city!

Another thing to do which can be a good end to the trip is getting a stress-busting spa treatment at one of the city’s many award-winning spa facilities like Talise Ottoman Spa (at Zabeel Saray Hotel).

When getting there by car, you can also see more of the Palm and especially in the evening admire the sunset which acquires amazing colors illuminating Dubai seascape, like here:

Night – Bid Farewell to Dubai

If your flight is late at night, then on a third day of your 3 days in Dubai itinerary pack loads of memories to take back home.

If you fly in the morning on the following day, then on the way back to the hotel from the Palm make a night stop at the Palm West Beach to catch sight of Dubai Harbor and skyscrapers in glow.

My Top Tips For Your Long Weekend In Dubai

1). Traveling to Dubai during weekends can get pricey particularly if you don’t plan your trip much in advance.

Yes, it is highly advisable to pre-book your accommodation, sightseeing tours, and airport transfers at least three to four months before your intended travel, especially if you are traveling in November-December and February through April.

2). The best time to visit Dubai is during the pleasant winter months (November to March) when the whole city is awash with festivities, seasonal attractions (like Global Village, Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Shopping Festival), outdoor markets, and a distinct effervescence.

That said, it is not a bad idea to visit Dubai during the summer season as well (June to August). While you may not be able to indulge in outdoorsy fun but the region’s wealth indoor attractions and activities make up for it. And it comes with the bonus of low cost for accommodation, flight tickets, etc.

3). Dubai’s public transport (including Dubai Metro, public buses, ferries etc) is efficient, fast and mostly, spotless and safe.

But, with just three days, it is worthwhile to book a private transfer or hire a vehicle (with or without driver) to get around in the city. Having an international driving license if you are looking to discover Dubai on your own is not mandatory unless license from your country is not in latin language.

4). If you are planning to rely on public transport, it is ideal to stay in accommodation located in a prime city spot close to a metro station or a bus station (hotel suggestions I gave in the beginning on this post are all in prime locations and close to the metro or bus stops).

5). For utmost savings, consider buying an all-in-one or a combo pass that comes packaged with two or more Dubai attractions or activities for one single price. Like this explorer pass where you can choose 3 to 7 attractions and save money or buy a Dubai silver transport card at any ticketing machine.

Dubai is full of incredible places! Now that you have my suggested program on how to spend a long weekend (or any other 3 days) in Dubai, simply pack your bags!

You may not have time to see everything on one trip but one thing is sure – you will have the best short vacay of your lifetime!

A Perfect One Day Itinerary – How to Spend 24 Hours in Dubai

You have just one day to spend in the entertainment capital of the world. In 24 hours, you need to get the very best of all that Dubai has to offer. Let’s be honest with you – it’s a tall order. Dubai is simply scintillating; an unbeatable adventure in time and space, a traveler’s delight and a poet’s eternal rhapsody. Here are a few attractions and experiences you must not miss out on during your one day in Dubai – the magnificent Burj Khalifa, a blissful desert safari , a dhow cruise and the immensely popular IMG Worlds of Adventure.

Map your route beforehand and be clear as to which sights you’ll manage to squeeze in, and which to leave out.

Give over to some exciting dune bashing sports; this involves driving a 4×4 fast over the dunes and coming down just as fast, to bash into the next dune. It’s an adrenaline-jerking adventure, and you’ll love it. Then if you want to, you can experience some desert quad biking. The desert terrain is very different – there are soft dunes and hard wadis, dips, valleys and rough shrubbery. Rise to the challenge and quad bike in the desert. You’ll be delighted.

You’ll also get to ride a camel; if you haven’t done this yet, you’ll find it strangely exciting and a bit scary the first time. You’ll enjoy the up and down rhythm of the camel’s stride, feeling amazed at sitting so high. Several telescopes are placed at various points on the observatory deck for your pleasure. Be sure to use these to focus on other attractions such as the Palm Islands, and get an up-close look. Break for Lunch

After the big bus tour is over, take a cab to the IMG Worlds of Adventure , one of Dubai’s latest and most exciting new attractions. IMG Worlds of Adventure is divided into several zones – IMG Boulevard which has retail outlets, cafes, restaurants and plenty more attractions for the whole family.

Then there is Marvel Comics, which contains adrenaline-pumping attractions based on iconic Marvel superheroes. Think Iron Man, Thor, the Avengers, Superman, and Spiderman – you’ll meet them all there. Then there’s the Cartoon Network zone, which has rides based on Bugs Bunny, the Flintstones and other cartoon network characters. Alarms? Who needs them when the promise of these kingly morning feasts will kick you right out of bed. The city’s breakfast spots have been stealing the notorious Dubai brunch’s spotlight and with good reason. Nutritious meals that match a buffet’s variety without the pounding hangover is a win-win. Plus, the tempting scent of a freshly-ground pot of coffee or a strong brew of chai just seals the deal. We stan breakfasts. Harder than a hard-boiled egg. Of which our 10 brilliant breakfast in Dubai list has many. You’ll find Middle Eastern shakshouka, Filipino tapa and Indian paratha rolls too as this list also checks off 10 different cuisines reflecting Dubai’s multicultural makeup. You’ll be glad you woke up early.

1. Eggspectation

We’re cracking off this list with the punniest of them all. Not only does this eatery whip up eggs six ways to Sunday – think airy omelettes, creamy scrambled eggs and sunny-side-ups – but it’ll take an entire Sunday to work through their 10 different Eggs Benedicts . Besides a PhD in poached eggs, they’re also masters of North American classics like chicken and waffles, buttermilk pancakes, and an all-American breakfast so rich, it can join the 1%. Introducing the all-day breakfast trend in Dubai is what cemented this Montreal brunch chain as a firm favourite. The second City Walk branch lacks beachside views but matches the OG JBR spot ’s long queues.

2. Sarabeth’s

What started as founder Sarabeth Levine’s homemade orange apricot marmalade business in 1981 has now snowballed into an eponymous global empire with outposts in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and our very own UAE. Dubaiites can have the quintessential New York breakfast experience at Sarabeth’s chic City Walk location. Live your best Gossip Girl life (the NYC branch was a filming location) a la Blair Waldorf here with an order of fluffy French toast, lemon and ricotta pancakes and goldie lox on a multigrain bagel. Of course, breakfast here is incomplete without the jam that started it all.

3. Arabian Tea House

This charming Bastakiya tea house’s bougainvillaea-draped courtyard has been a dreamy escape from modern Dubai’s cacophony since 1997 . It’s the food though that truly captures Emirati heritage. Regulars (and celebs like Martha Stewart) fill up its blue benches quickly on weekends. So drop by at the crack of dawn to relish their Emirati Breakfast tray at leisure. Classics like balaleet (vermicelli topped omelette); khameer and chebab breads; dango (boiled chickpeas), watermelon jam and cheeses are served on a massive silver platter perfect for sharing. Wash it all down with a piping hot cup of traditional gahwa (Arabic coffee), then fight the food coma and snap a picture in their quaint majlis-themed photobooth.

4. Raju Omlet

There are few sorrows in the world that a steaming hot cup of adrak (ginger) chai and and a fluffy chilli-flecked omelette, rolled up in a flaky paratha can’t cure. That, combined with quirky Bollywood-themed atmosphere of a Mumbai greasy spoon and farm-fresh eggs makes Raju Omlet’ an ideal pick-me-up brekkie spot. Their extensive spice-flavoured chais are some of the best in town. There are no wrong choices to be made here but hatch a plan to stick around till noon, then order the mutton keema and mop it up with freshly baked Bombay pavs (buns). You can’t go wrong with the Irani wrestler’s omlet or Mumbai anda pav either.

5. Silog Express

Okay, okay, we know Silog Express is a Flipino fast food chain and doesn’t fall into the bracket of typical breakfast spots but they are the kings of simple no-nonsense Pinoy breakfasts. Brilliant combo options let you mix and match the trio of beef tapa , sinangag (garlic fried rice) itlog (fried egg) with sweet-and-sour chicken tocino , lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) and fried tilapia , proving why tapsilog is the undefeated Kabayan comfort food, a vanquisher of hangovers, and perhaps the coolest portmanteau ever. Rice and shine is the theme but you don’t have to rise early as breakfast’s available all day.

6. Reform Grill and Social

A big rambunctious full-monty breakfast is the reward we all deserve during the weekend after slurping smoothies on the go and wolfing down protein bars before meetings. This British gastropub in The Lakes combines the charms of verdant garden space, the easygoing vibes of a local pub and produces a breakfast for champions. It’s literally called that. Eggs any style with bacon, sausages, black pudding, dripping bread, hash browns, baked beans and more will fill you up for the rest of the day. A lighter version for those who lack the appetite (or courage) to tackle this meal is the Full English Breakfast, which is a few items short but equally tasty.

Everyone loves a hearty chicken Tajine. But have you tried an egg tajine? This mosaic-spangled opulent Downtown restaurant is giving Moroccan breakfast the recognition its due. Named after the ancient gate in the Moroccan city of Meknes, this place is your gateway to discovering fluffy eggs tajine with meat or shrimp, barkoukach, traditional bread such as baghrir (semolina pancake), m’smen (flatbread) and harsha (semolina cake). Order these separately or find them stacked beautifully in a breakfast package that doles out balboula (barley soup with za’tar), refreshing Moroccan tea, marinated olives and amlou – an airy argan oil-infused almond butter that our Moroccan colleagues swear outshines Nutella.

8. Gunaydin

This Istanbul meatery with firm its roots in the historic Bostanci neighbhourhood blossomed in Dubai’s Souk Al Bahar as an upscale modern restaurant with burnished interiors, it found a rapid fan-following. In large parts thanks to a table-groaning kahvalti (traditional Turkish breakfast) that could feed a tiny country. And your soul. Available only on Saturdays and Sundays, this spread whips out classics such as menemen (Scrambled eggs), sujuk and eggs, oven-fresh simit bread, flaky borek, pide (Turkish flatbread pizza) and cheeses with endless cups of Turkish tea.

9. Seva Table

It’s only fair that this carb-heavy list is balanced out with one vegan breakfast in Dubai. Trust us, Seva’s menu is mighty enough to make a dent. This plant-based cafe tucked inside a Jumeirah 1 villa is a bohemian garden sanctuary that will nourish your eyes. The all-organic breakfast menu will supercharge your body. Eggless omlettes, avocado on toast, chunky monkey pancakes and gluten free pain perdu drizzled with MCT oil and miracle superfoods such as ashwaghanda, maca and cacao nibs are the stars. You won’t find a trans-fat (or WiFi) for miles in this whimsical space’s rustic wooden tables, library nook and outdoor floor seating. An astrology reading event or meditation session, you most definitely will.

10. Floating Breakfast, Park Hyatt

Instagram’s latest trend of sumptuous floating breakfasts in plunge pools are the best things since breakfast in bed was invented. While we don’t know who to credit for the latter, the former is the brainchild of a Bali resort (purportedly Jumana Bali Ungasan Resort). Either way, Dubai’s taken to the fad swimmingly. Thankfully, Park Hyatt serves a massive floating breakfast in Dubai that you can access without having to book a room in the hotel. You can drift around (and pose for that photo) in the resort’s Al Porto Family Lagoon with a colossal rattan basket heaving with cheese, pancakes, croissants, fresh fruits, smoothie bowls and juices.

BB Social Dining

One of the city's most talked about restaurants knows how to do brunch right. Fi'lia

Located on the 70th floor of the SLS Dubai Hotel in Business Bay, the skyline views from Fi'lia are always worth talking about. On Saturdays, the terrace fills up with an enthusiastic brunch crowd, eager to sample Italian signatures in the sunshine. Expect all the classics from this recipient of Michelin's Bib Gourmand,  including fresh-from-the-oven pizzas, crispy arancini and fresh cannoli for dessert, with prices starting at AED250 per person.

• Level 70, SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences - Marasi Dr - Business Bay

There are so many ways to brunch in Dubai that visitors are spoilt for choice but, when the weather is right, many want to combine feasting with soaking in the sun. Bla Bla by the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence is an adults-only weekend hotspot, hosting a sunshine-filled Sunday brunch (ideal if you have Saturday plans), from AED250, with a menu of Italian and Japanese dishes served straight to your sun lounger. It's definitely one to enjoy with your  closest friends .

• Messer Street Beach by Meraas Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai

With a hip soundtrack and vistas of Dubai Marina's waterways and high-rises aplenty, the views and vibes at Asia Asia are always a treat. Located at Pier 7  – the neighbourhood's favourite dining destination – the restaurant pulls out all the stops every Saturday afternoon for their four-course à la carte take on brunch, which costs from AED275 per person. Themed around the famed Spice Route, the menu includes flavour-packed sushi , curries, grilled dishes and dim sum.

• Dubai Marina Mall, 6th Floor, Pier 7 - Sheikh Zayed Rd - Dubai Marina

Kids and adults alike can have a great time at these brunches, which offer something for everyone and often include dedicated children's entertainment and activities.

One of the city's long-standing brunch spots, Yalumba at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre still manages to impress with their playful take on Sunday family 'Blunch' from AED225 per adult and a fantastically-priced AED75 for kids aged six to 12. Expect magicians, face-painting, an outdoor play area plus plenty more fun for little ones, as well as a packed menu of delicious international specialities that incorporates flavours from the  Middle East , Asia, Europe and beyond. Yalumba's brunch runs from 1-4pm.

• Le Meridien Dubai - Airport Road

JA The Resort

The resort hosts the picnic-style We Be Brunchin' every Saturday, aimed specifically at families. There are live cooking stations, musicians, children's entertainers and more, all set in JA The Resort's lush lawns. Kids will not only enjoy the food, but also the activities, with pony rides, a bouncy castle and more to keep them occupied. And the brunch also includes pool access – meaning you and the family can enjoy a leisurely poolside afternoon once you're done dining. The brunch runs from 12:30-4pm, and packages start at AED280 for adults and AED150 for kids, with children under six eating for free.

Bubbalicious

There’s a reason that Bubbalicious at The Westin Mina Seyahi sells out every week, for both its regular Saturday brunch and The Roast by Bubbalicious on Sundays. The Saturday edition, spread across three of the hotel's restaurants, is one of Dubai's most lavish brunches – but is still great for families, with dedicated kids entertainment on offer. The Sunday roast is more focused on the titular meat dishes, and is also ideal for kids thanks to the entertainers on hand, and a dedicated mini-buffet. The Bubbalicious Saturday brunch starts at AED450 per adult and AED300 for children aged six to 12, while the Bubbalicious Sunday roast starts at AED295 per adult and AED175 for children aged six to 12 – kids under six can eat for free at both events. Both brunches run from 1-4pm.

• The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Al Sufouh

These venues offer the ultimate brunch experience, with the best food, views and ambience in the city – and price-tags to match.

An award-winning brunch, Traiteur serves up refined cuisine in an exquisite setting. Spread across the pretty French restaurant Brasserie du Park and Cape Cod-inspired NOÉPE  eatery at Park Hyatt Dubai, it's an unbeatable alfresco dining experience that happens every Saturday, with prices starting at AED495 per person. Highlights include the seafood on ice – think fresh oysters, crabs legs, lobster, scallops and caviar – which perfectly sets the tone for the many delicacies to come. This is a weekend indulgence that satisfies all gourmands.

Jumeirah Al Qasr

The menu is extensive, with everything from oysters and Wagyu beef tataki to hamachi ceviche, before moving on to your choice of mains. While the herb-crusted lamb chops are a delight, the kitchen excels when it comes to seafood (the garlic mussels and rosemary prawns are worth the trip alone). With seating arranged on the terrace  and lawns, the ambience is chic and breezy – much like the food itself.

• Ground Floor, The DoubleTree by Hilton, Dubai Marina

SHI at  Bluewaters Island  combines the best in Chinese and Pan-Asian cuisine with picture-perfect skyline views to present a luxury brunch experience. Taking place every Saturday and Sunday with packages starting from AED295, the four-course set menu delights with indulgent choices such as duck bao  buns, crispy softshell crab, wok-tossed lobster and much, much more. You'll also want to save room for creative desserts such as the taro crème brûlée and traditional mochi ice cream.

• Bluewaters Island - Dubai

One of Dubai's most exciting dining venues, COYA also hosts an exceptional brunch every Saturday from 12:30-3:30pm – think Latin-American flavours and a happening atmosphere that beats every expectation. Fogo de Chão

Meat lovers will be dazzled by the weekend brunch at this Brazilian restaurant in DIFC. The signature churrasco experience, which starts at AED359, includes unlimited premium cuts of meat, carved directly at your table. You'll have a selection of prime beef, marinated chicken, mixed sausages, seasoned lamb, seafood and even sugar-glazed pineapple to choose from. Cooked in the traditional gaucho style over sizzling flames, this feast also delivers high-energy entertainment. It's an action-packed start to your weekend.

• Central Park Towers, Level P3 Commercial, Office Building, DIFC

This fine dining favourite at Dubai International Financial Centre presents a legendary Baikingu brunch on Saturdays that is booked up weeks in advance. Reserve early and you'll be rewarded with a sophisticated Japanese feast as the head chef prepares the perfect tasting menu for the whole table, from AED545 per person. Think scallops with pickled  umeboshi , platters of Zuma favourites, live sushi and robata stations – plus the choice of one main course per person, from a wide selection.

• Gate Village 06, Podium Level, Al Sa'ada St

When you want to let your hair down and just have a good time, these are the brunches for you. Often featuring live entertainment and music, along with an all-round party atmosphere, these events are generally suitable for over-21s only.

For the ultimate high-energy brunch, Saffron at Atlantis, The Palm sets the standard. Live DJs set the scene with chart-topping classics, while dancers, singers and magicians keep things lively, with a different theme every week. The food is also fabulous, with literally hundreds of dishes to choose from, and live-cooking stations that make great photo opportunities. Packages start from AED495 at this over-21s-only brunch.

• Crescent Rd - The Palm Jumeirah - Dubai

CE LA VI has managed to elevate dining  both literally and figuratively and there's no better way to sample its signature dishes than via Brunch on 54. The restaurant's popular Saturday feast features a set menu from AED390 per person, inspired by international flavours – the dishes are not only delicious but generous, with your meal accompanied by live beats and friendly service. The terrace is the place to be, presenting sweeping views of the city's photogenic skyline from every table.

• Tower 2 - Level 54, Address Sky View Hotel, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd, Downtown Dubai

One of the city's most popular brunches, STK at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR)  has carved out a fine reputation thanks to several key ingredients. There's live entertainment complete with acrobats and musicians, a menu of signature favourites with something for all tastes ( including vegetarians ) and a party atmosphere that's simply electric. Best of all? They host their Dare to Brunch, which starts at AED350 per person, twice every Saturday – in the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm and at night from 8pm till 11pm – so you won't have an excuse to miss out.

• Rixos Premium Dubai, The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence, JBR

A sparkling choice for bites and vibes, Akira Back at W Dubai – The Palm has teamed up with global events brand Candypants to present a lively Saturday afternoon to remember, from AED399 per person (or from AED449 for a place on the terrace). Admire sea views from this  rooftop hotspot  as you dine on a menu of bestselling dishes, including the famed tuna pizza, AB tacos, signature rolls, black cod, grilled salmon and more. The desserts are impressive too, with butter  mochi  and a mousse-like  yuzu  citrus with sable crumble and strawberry gelato.

The commotion early Friday raised fears of a possible Israeli retaliatory strike following Tehran’s unprecedented drone-and-missile assault on the country. Iran fired air defense batteries early Friday morning after reports of explosions near a major airbase at the city of Isfahan, the state-run IRNA news agency reported. It remained unclear if the country was under attack. However, tensions remain high after Iran’s unprecedented missile-and-drone attack on Israel. One government official suggested sites may have been targeted by drones.

A senior army commander confirmed Friday that Iran’s air defense systems fired at “a suspicious object” over the Iranian city of Isfahan in response to an apparent Israeli drone attack. World leaders are calling on Iran and Israel to try to avoid escalating tensions.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel and Iran on Friday both played down an apparent Israeli airstrike near a major air base and nuclear site in central Iran, signaling the two bitter enemies are ready to prevent their latest eruption of violence from escalating into a full-blown regional war.

But the indecisive outcome of weeks of tensions — which included an alleged Israeli strike that killed two Iranian generals , an unprecedented Iranian missile barrage on Israel and the apparent Israeli strike early Friday in the heart of Iran — did little to resolve the deeper grievances between the foes and left the door open to further fighting.

“It appears we’re closer than ever to a broad regional war, despite the fact that the international community will most likely make a great effort to de-escalate tensions,” wrote Amos Harel, the military-affairs commentator for the Israeli daily Haaretz.

Israel has long considered Iran to be its greatest enemy — citing the Islamic Republic’s calls for Israel’s destruction, its controversial nuclear program and its support for hostile proxies across the Middle East.

These tensions have risen since Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Iranian-backed Palestinian groups, attacked Israel on Oct. 7, sparking a devastating Israeli offensive in Gaza that has continued for more than six months. Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed proxy in Lebanon, immediately began striking Israeli targets, opening up tit-for-tat fighting along a second front, while Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, Syria and Yemen have also fired missiles and drones at Israel throughout the war.

While Israel and Iran have waged a shadow war for years, mostly in neighboring Syria, they have largely avoided direct confrontations. That changed after an April 1 airstrike killed two Iranian generals at an Iranian diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital of Damascus. Although Israel did not comment, Iran blamed Israel for the strike and vowed revenge.

Iran responded with its first-ever direct attack on Israel, launching over 300 missiles and attack drones late Saturday night. Israel, working with a U.S.-led international coalition, said it intercepted 99% of the incoming fire, though a handful of missiles managed to land, causing minor damage to an Israeli military base and seriously wounding a young girl.

In Friday’s attack, Iranian state television said that air defense batteries fired in several provinces over reports of drones in the air. Iranian army commander Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi said crews targeted several flying objects.

“The explosion this morning in the sky of Isfahan was related to the shooting of air defense systems at a suspicious object that did not cause any damage,” Mousavi said.

Authorities said air defenses fired at a major air base near Isfahan, which long has been home to Iran’s fleet of American-made F-14 Tomcats — purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Isfahan also is home to sites associated with Iran’s nuclear program, including its underground Natanz enrichment site, which has been repeatedly targeted by suspected Israeli sabotage attacks. The apparent attack Friday came on Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s 85th birthday.

State television described all Iranian atomic sites in the areas as “fully safe.” The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, also said there was “no damage” to Iran’s nuclear sites.

Iranian officials made no mention of possible Israeli involvement. That could be intentional, particularly after Iranian officials for days have been threatening to respond to any Israeli retaliatory attack.

Israel also had no comment on the apparent attack, though one hard-line government minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, hinted at his dissatisfaction, with a one-word tweet early Friday, using a slang word for weak or lame.

But Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, said at a summit of Western leaders in Capri that the U.S. received “last-minute” information from Israel about the attack. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken did not dispute that, but said: “We were not involved in any offensive operations.”

Yoel Guzansky, a former Iran expert in the Israeli prime minister’s office, said Israel appears to have carried out the attack to “check off a box” by sending a message to Iran without doing anything too provocative that could upset the United States, which had urged restraint, or spark further Iranian retaliation.

“It seems very limited, to send a message that ‘we can strike you inside of Iran,’” said Guzansky a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies, a Tel Aviv think tank.

He said “the current round” of violence appears to be over, but that “nothing has changed” with Israel still facing Iranian-backed threats on various fronts.

“I see further rounds,” he said. And the next time, if Iran surprises Israel or allies don’t assist in Israel’s defense, “the outcome will be different.”

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an end to the strikes.

“It is high time to stop the dangerous cycle of retaliation in the Middle East,” his office said.

Charles Lister, a senior fellow at the Washington-based Middle East Institute and a longtime regional analyst, challenged Iran’s claims that drones carried out the attacks. It appears instead that a small number of Israeli aircraft flew from Israel over Syria — striking at least two southern Syria military bases that have air defense systems along the way, he said.

They then entered Iraqi airspace, from where they fired a small number of Blue Sparrow air-to-surface ballistic missiles, likely without ever entering Iranian airspace, Lister said.

Accounts of explosions over Iraq support that scenario, and so does debris from what appears to be the booster of an Israeli-made Blue Sparrow missile that Iraqi security found in a field outside Baghdad, Lister said.

“In other words, the Israelis would never have needed to enter Iranian airspace to conduct this attack,” Lister said. “I think this was Israel’s way of just sending a message that we can reach you anywhere we want.”

If this latest round subsides, Israel can now return its focus to its ongoing war in Gaza and the simmering fighting with Hezbollah. With neither of those fronts letting up, the risk of further run-ins with Iran remains high, though neither side appears eager after Friday’s apparent Israeli attack.

“Neither side is ready to jump over the brink,” said Alex Vatanka, director of the Iran program at the Middle East Institute. But he added a major caveat.

“Probably we’re going to go back to the proxy war, “ he said, but now it’s a proxy war with the risk of “that sudden eruption of state-to-state war. Which we didn’t have to worry about before.”
