 Description

The Dirt King long travel kit was developed to drastically improve the vehicles off-road handling without compromising its day to day driving characteristics. This suspension system allows for 13.5” of travel and accepts up to a 35” tire. Our upper and lower arms are designed with 1” stainless steel uniballs for the outer pivots instead of ball joints for strength and increased articulation. This kit is CAD designed, thoroughly tested, and 100% made in America resulting in a product we’re proud to put our name on!

Wheel Travel In order to achieve 13.5” of travel the factory bump stop must be cut off. The kit allows for 12.5” of travel without removing the bump stop.

Tire Info When using 35” tires with this kit modifications to the wheel wells are required. The firewall pinch weld will need to be folded over for clearance. The upper wheel well will also need to be modified to avoid contact at full bump.

Shipping & Delivery Dirt King ships their products within the United States and Internationally. Most products ship via UPS or USPS. Orders that exceed $500 require a signature confirmation. On bulk orders contact Dirt King for a freight quote. The customer is responsible for import taxes and fees on international shipments.

Damaged or Missing Parts In an instance where you receive a damaged package a claim must be made with Dirt King. The claim can be submitted by sending an email to [email protected] containing photos of the damaged packages and damaged products. The email must also include your order number as well. Do not discard any of the original packaging or try installing the products.

While every precaution is taken there could be a case where you are missing parts. If this happens please send an email to [email protected] with your order number, list of missing parts, photo of the package or packages, and a photo of the quality control tag located on the back of the box.

If the shipping carrier losses your package please contact Dirt King. A claim will be filled with the shipping carrier. Unfortunately, we do not have much control over this situation and must wait for the carrier to process the claim.

Freight Shipping The customer must contact Dirt King to arrange for freight shipping. Dirt King will palletize the order and the customer can deal directly with the freight carrier if preferred. The shipment can be delivered to a home or business. The customer must be present for the delivery to inspect and sign for the package. Before signing confirm that you received all items listed on the packing slip and nothing is damaged. If you receive damaged parts or are missing parts leave a note on the bill of landing and sign it. Make sure the driver is aware of the situation and signs your copy of the bill of landing with the noted damages or missing parts. Once you have taken possession of the package file a claim with Dirt King by sending an email to [email protected]. Please include your order number, copy of your bill of landing, and photos of the damaged items or list of missing parts. Do not discard any of the original packaging or try installing the products. Dirt King will do everything possible to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

  • Returns are only accepted within 30 days.
  • Product must have been purchased from us and not a dealer.
  • A 3% processing fee is deducted from all refunds.
  • On shipped orders   a 7% restocking fee and a  3% processing fee is deducted from all refunds.
  • Products such as bumpers, hitches, and bed cages that have optional powder coat added are subject to a 7% restocking fee and a 3% processing fee. If the order is canceled before the product is powder coated then the 7% restocking fee can be waived.
  • On shipped orders we are not responsible for return shipping or refunding the original shipping amount.
  • Parts must be returned in the original package and condition as they were sent.
  • No returns on items that have been damaged or installed.
  • Refund will be issued once the parts have been received and inspected.
  • Custom products are non refundable.
  • Crypto orders will be refunded the same coin amount that was paid originally.

Welding should always be done at a qualified and certified facility only. Suspension modifications may change the dynamics and stability characteristics of the vehicle. The Baja Kits Colorado Prerunner Suspension Kit was designed to give the newest Chevrolet Truck the same aftermarket off-road suspension performance that other mini trucks have had for years. It excels in the dirt while retaining excellent on-road handling and comfort. The kit is a direct bolt-on to your 2WD & 4WD Chevy Colorado. Engineered to be a complete suspension system, it uses Trophy Truck grade uniballs and hardware on both the Upper and Lower arms. Heavy duty fabricated steel arms handle the abuse while custom tuned King coil over shocks with remote reservoirs and compression adjusters for precise tuning handle suspension damping. This kit is an easy upgrade kit as it will work with your stock replacement aftermarket shock or our custom length shock for maximum wheel travel. A 2.5 Bypass is an option that can be added upon initial install or later on. (Rear kits available too)

Please note this kit will provide 1” wider track width per side on a ZR2.

Requires aftermarket coilover of standard or custom spec length. Will not fit with ZR2 OEM replacement coilovers.

Looking to take your 2004 to 2012 Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon to the next level? Hoodrat Manufacturing has produced a 4130, TIG welded kit for the Gen 1, 2004 to 2012 Colorado and Canyon. This kit is no joke and is race tested and proven by Clinical Racing. The kit comes with lower control arms, upper control arms, and the upright.

If the kit is selected with an A-arm, the kit will bolt into the factory's upper and lower control arm mounts. With a J-arm, the kit will fit a 2.5" coilover and up to a 4.0 bypass shock.

Colorado Z71 Chase (long travel) kit

Sorry guys, but don't get too excited. I haven't found a kit or designed one.... Yet. I have been doing research for several weeks now, and talked to a friend who is a god with CAD, I believe that I want to attempt building a long travel kit for my Z71 Colorado. I want to base my design off of the brenthal industries kit, but I'm a bit confused on what all will need to be modified or built on my truck or the kit in order to make it work with a Z71. I have plenty of car know-how, welding skills, plenty of tools, pretty much anything I need to tackle the long travel build. I'm just a bit unfamiliar with long travel suspensions themselves when it comes down to the geometry. If you have any input it would be very much appreciated. I have already looked at kmacs mid travel build and what not, but I'm looking for more race inspired long travel. Thanks.

Mine's still an idea, it could be 4wd, which would meet 2wd specs as well.  

i haven't done much digging around on it, but it looks like the front suspension is very similar on both the 2 and 4 wheel drive versions if not identical.  

My Colorado is a 2wd Z71, I just want to know what's different in the coil spring kit and why you can't modify it to work for a Z71.  

i would guess that the torsion bar itself would be the limiting factor for long travel. i don't think it would be a deal breaker but think about it, how many rock crawlers or baja trucks have torsion bars?  

I once saw a post about an Explorer with TBs and Long Travel. Searching......  

there's another thread going on.. or was  

torsion bar or radius arm? my 92 ranger had coils with a radius arm for location. i have no idea what the modern setup is.

Hey. There is a local offroad club here. I'll try to get ahold of one of them and see if they know anything that could help. I mentioned the idea of a long travel to troy awhile ago and he had told me its best to just buy a kit to change out my TB for a coil setup. He said he bought one from Kaotic racing for his 94 toyota. I don't really know the benefits of Tb over coil or vise verse, but I do know my truck takes alot of abuse the way it is now.  

Torsion Bars are strictly designed for comfort Im pretty sure, that's there only advantage over coil springs. I don't really want to swap them out completely, so that's why we are having this brainstorming session here for how to build around it. Haha. Thanks for all the responses. Keep storming because this thread isn't just for me, it's for alot of people who have been wondering!

Yeah, that's where I saw the Expo with TBs. Going back to the 3d model, where do we get it? I've searched around the internetz, but haven't got there yet.  

maybe it's time to dust off the AutoCAD training. does anyone have the stock dimensions? i'm pretty sure i was wrong about how much travel you can get with a torsion bar. this looks promising.  

What dimensions do you need exactly because I can get them for you.  

i guess that i would just need a diagram of the suspension with measurements. just one side would be fine because all you would need is a mirror image, unless there's something weird that i don't know about. from there it would be lengthening the A arms to provide more travel and redesigning the tubes so that there is no contact. in a nutshell sticking with stock spindles, extremely over simplified.  

Well aren't all of the UCA's and LCA's identical for the Colorado, Z71 and Z85? Or am I completely wrong there?  

and just from looking at my truck it looks like there is enough room for an axle shaft to run through. maybe they're the same 2WD or 4WD?  

Pretty sure they are. I just need to figure out how to build the UCAs and LCAs because my friends CNC is too small. Any ideas on how to approach this?  

The track width is different, and as the chassis is the same, the arms wouldn't be the same. Question: are you planning on making the arms from billet aluminum? I don't think the LCAs will hold the pressure, unless you are planning to build a street queen.  

i was just thinking a little old school with just some super strong steel tubing. i would be scared to use aluminum for a control arm.  

Old school steel tubing, I no longer have access to a CNC.

UPPER ARMS Our  upper arms are made from 1.5” .120w 4130 tubing and 3/16” 4130 plate with high grade ¾ rod ends at the frame pivots. We also changed the frame pivots and put them on tabs on top of the frame and raising the spindle 6” to eliminate some of the drastic camber and caster angles that you get when getting up to 18” of wheel travel. We also integrated an upper arm bump pad for hydraulic bump stop’s. 

LOWER ARMS Our  boxed lower arm made from laser cut 1/8” 4130 steel Using 1” stainless steel uniballs at the frame pivot and 1” uniball at the spindle. This kit comes set up so that you can run a coil over, bypass shock and bump stop if wanted. (coil overs are a must.. we do not build a torsion bar set up)

SPINDLE This kit uses the stock spindle but we supply you with a 3/16 4130 plate bolt on 6”extension that houses a stainless steel vertical stainless steel 1” uniball.  We will be offering a full custom spindle in the future.

AXLE KIT Custom 300m axles using the stock outer and for the inner we have a 6061 aluminum adapter that bolts to the stock cv flange. We use a non plunging high grade 930 cv allowing for up to 18” of wheel travel.

99-06 Chevy/GMC 1500 2WD Basic Long Travel Suspension

At 4.5” wider per side and 1” forward for better tire to firewall clearance, this kit cycles 14-15” wheel travel. 8 or 10” coilover shocks are needed (not included in kit). Weak upper and lower balljoints are replaced with durable FK uniballs, stock rubber bushings are replaced with durable, replaceable polyurethane bushings. 

Kit can be used with stock or aftermarket lift spindles. Comes with tubular upper arms, boxed lower arms, tierod extenders and extended brakelines, bushings and all uniballs and hardware.

The Camburg long travel Silverado kit is a huge upgrade in suspension performance. To start we made a fully fabricated spindle, a boxed lower arm with internal gusseting, In our new Gen2 coilover/bypass design we have the lower shock mounts sunk into the arms. We also have available a weld-on bucket style shock mount that is setup for a 2.5 x 8″ coilover and a 2.5 x 8″ bypass shock.  1″Uni-Ball lower pivots for the lower A-Arms and 3/4″ heims for the upper arm to pivot off of. The factory ball joints were changed out to 1″ Uni-balls upper and 1.5″ lower. Others will mount there 1″ uni-balls single sheer, this is not as strong as the “double sheer” mounting we do upper and lower. There are 2x 1.5″ uni-balls 6x 1″ uni-balls, 2x 7/8″ heims, and 6 3/4″ heims in the system. The total of these parts with spacers and hardware is over $1500, this is why our kit LOOKS expensive but you just get what you pay for! You will need a set of Fiberglass fenders to make room for your tires.

This kit is for the serious offroader and requires extensive fabrication. We recommend a qualified off-road race shop to install and setup this suspension system.
