S tunningly soulful and achingly raw, sophie faith’s third single of the year is vulnerability manifest in a jazzy, smoldering, gospel-tinged neo-soul dream..

Released October 28, 2022 via Honey & Lemon Music ( sweet and sour – get it? ), “ Heart Is on My Sleeve ” stings in all the right ways: Smooth, spine-tingling harmonies, tender, naked piano playing (courtesy of British singer/songwriter Reuben James), and Faith’s own rich and powerful vocals turn a moody, brooding ballad into the hypnotizing and seductive upheaval of a bruised heart and weary soul.

This is one of those prime examples where a person’s deepest pain gets transformed into unbridled beauty through song. It’s also the kind of catchy, cathartic, softly stirring serenade that could, in the right hands, elevate the London-based Faith onto the global stage. After all, Adele is singing happy songs now; someone’s got to fill in the sad soul gap, and Faith – who co-wrote “Heart Is on My Sleeve” with none other than British multi-hyphenate Stormzy, and worked with Grammy-nominated producer Linden Jay to bring her song to life – approaches heartache and longing with just the right blend of refreshing strength and inspired authenticity.

Given all that, it might come as a surprise to learn that Faith was previously having second thoughts about her music career. She explains how this song served as the reinforcement she needed to continue forward and soldier on.

“This song came at a time when I’d left my label and I was in an unsure mindset of whether I wanted to continue music,” Faith tells  Atwood Magazine . “It gave me a real lease of life to know I have more to give as a singer, and this was a beautiful opportunity to showcase me and my friends on a record that has more of a church feel. At the time I needed something soothing and Stormzy really threw me a lifeline; I was really lucky to get the opportunity to write with him, it just feels really special.”

I toss and turn and try to make it through been wondering if you’re out there feeling the same way too but, i could do a little bit of find where it all went wrong, but you could say the words to solve it all.

“Heart Is on My Sleeve” can be a love song not just to a person, but to music incarnate. It hurts in all the right ways, and leaves us breathless, hopeful, dazed, and amazed. Needless to say this is one for the books, and we can only hope that more people are moved by Sophie Faith’s music the way that she’s instantly and effortlessly moved us with this song.

British singer-songwriter Sophie Faith has been making waves for a while now. She combines jazz, soul, and hints of hip hop infused sensibilities and we think it’s about time you sat up and took note.

Sophie’s latest single “Dopamine” is no exception as it oozes with smooth, sultry melodies and Sophie’s equally mesmerising vocals shine throughout. Sophie has amassed a dedicated following and millions of streams with her string of singles since 2017.

IN THE CROWD: SOPHIE FAITH @ BLUES KITCHEN, MANCHESTER - 25.10.22

Kicking off her UK tour, The Blues Kitchen in Manchester was graced by a truly wonderful performance. Sophie Faith has been navigating her musical journey with care. She has managed to develop a large following in the last 5 years, despite listeners still waiting on a debut project. After a brief hiatus, Sophie began releasing music again this year, beginning with ‘Something I said’. This was followed up with ‘Pinky Blues’, and more recently, ‘Heart Is On My Sleeve’, a fantastic gospel-inspired track co-written by Stormzy.

The mood was set upon heading up to the top floor of Blues Kitchen. A dimly lit, the smoky room provided the perfect atmosphere. Candle-lit tables were soon filled by fans of the young singer, and excitement set in. The evening began with the guitar-infused energy of London-born, Manchester-based singer, Rosie Charles. Her performance set the high standards for the night. Her set contained an abundance of relatable lyrics, complemented by a powerful voice and luscious guitars.

The evening was continued by the angelic sounds of Zoe Kypri. An independent artist with a remarkably soulful voice, Zoe’s performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Some tracks were accompanied solely by keys, which provided a velvety, atmospheric feeling. The addition of drums created a new dynamic, one that was certainly welcomed. Zoe’s set wonderfully added to the ambience of the night, with her vocal ability leaving a lasting impression.

After a short break, the stage welcomed Sophie Faith. She was accompanied by the very talented Jay Wilcox, who also appeared alongside Zoe Kypri. As well as two backing vocalists of the highest ability, Nectar Woode and Kojo Degraft-Johnson. Sophie’s set began with older releases ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Say So’, and immediately her presence was felt. The set progressed onto familiar favourites ‘Cross My Mind’ and ‘You Are The Best Thing’, with the audience’s attention held by Sophie’s excellent vocal performance.

One highlight was the performance of her new song, ‘Heart is on my Sleeve’. A strong element of gospel emanated from the track, with Sophie proving her versatility for all to see. The highly positive reaction from the crowd must have been affirming, given it was unreleased at the time of the performance. Since it’s been given to the world the response has been fantastic. The track was not only co-written by Stormzy, but heavily co-signed by him, with him complimenting Sophie’s abilities on his Instagram. The excitement for more releases has certainly been galvanised by this song. Future releases will be met by well-founded jubilation, with this providing the basis for a strong body of work in the future.

‘Something I Said’ stood out amongst the set, as the catchiness of the chorus was enjoyed by all. Fan favourite ‘Late Nights’ was then brought in, with the relatability of the lyrics resonating with many. Around this time, I ventured to the back of the room to capture some videos. This perspective allowed me to experience the full view of a room captivated, in equal measure by Sophie’s abilities of performance and voice.

The set was ended here, but thankfully only for a brief moment, with Sophie returning for an encore of her ‘2019’ single ‘Salt’. An infectious energy was given alongside self-assured lyrics, providing the perfect ending to the evening. An extended standing ovation followed, with the nights performer seemingly overjoyed by the response. I had the pleasure of chatting with Sophie afterwards, with her expressing how pleased she was the first show of the tour had been such a success.

Sophie Faith, alongside her support acts and stage team, provided an evening bursting with talent. Authenticity was given out by all who performed, resulting in a very positive reaction from the crowd. Sophie seems to be going from strength to strength, with song releases as well as live performance. It will be exciting to follow Sophie’s trajectory from here, with there appearing to be no boundaries for the young artist.

Sophie managed to achieve the feat of having her live performance sound no worse than the studio recordings of her songs.

There is no rest for the weary with a signature event on tap this week on the pga tour.

Players make the short trip from Augusta, Georgia, to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for this week's 2024 RBC Heritage. In total, 69 golfers will tee it up on Harbour Town Golf Links across the first two days as yet another signature event on the PGA Tour's playing calendar gets underway.

Unlike the Genesis Invitational or Arnold Palmer Invitational, the RBC Heritage will not feature a 36-hole cut, meaning the entirety of the field will be around for the weekend. That is music to the ears to those who missed out on the weekend action at the Masters, including the likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.

Spieth, the 2022 champion, looks to kickstart his season after a disappointing showing at Augusta National. He is no stranger to bouncing back at the RBC Heritage; he followed a missed cut at the year's first major championship with a win a week later in Hilton Head.

If Spieth is to return to the winner's circle, he will have to go through Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 remains in the field for now and aims to collect his fourth trophy in his last five tournaments. Fresh off slipping on his second green jacket, Scheffler has widened the gap between him and the rest of the world and shows no signs of slowing down.

Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Åberg, Will Zalatoris and Max Homa were among those to perform well at the Masters, and they hope that translates to more of the same. Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay and defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick will look for some form. In total, 26 of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are set to play.

Mandisa remembered. Fans, music industry, friends pay tribute to 47-year-old singer

Grammy-award winning musician and "American Idol" alum Mandisa was found dead at her Nashville home on Thursday.

The 47-year-old Christian singer dazzled audiences when she hit the stage of "American Idol" in 2005 and made it through to the final nine. From there she released her debut album, but dealt with pain from the loss of a beloved friend and having a personal crisis of faith. Her journey through heartache and depression to finding her faith again inspired many that were going through similar situations.

"Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world," was written on an Instagram post announcing Mandisa's death.

Since the news of her death, family, fans and friends in and out of the music industry, have paid tribute to the singer.

What happened to Mandisa?

On Friday, The Media Collective, Mandisa's rep, issued this statement confirming her death, but did not disclose how the songstress died.

"We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time."

Mandisa's story and journey to 'Overcome' touched many

Mandisa crisis of faith was an inspiration not only for an album, but inspired others who were going though hardship. Fans shared their stories on the Instagram post announcing her death.

"I’m devastated 💔💔💔 Overcomer help me healed when I loss my daughter at 16. She gave hope even when she didn’t have any to give herself. Mandisa is truly one of God’s Devine. I hope she finally has the peace she struggled so long to find. We have truly really loss one of God’s truest and purest creatures… I love you now and forever on Mandisa. God speed on your journey to heaven….," wrote user keishacraftsmith.

Other's shared how her music and writing helped them through some of the toughest times in their lives. Actress Candace Cameron Bure shared broken heart emojis under the post, while Christian rap artist Wande offered condolences.

Fellow Christian musician and friend Colton Dixon, shared memories of being on the road with Mendisa and Toby Mac.

"Mandisa is the sweetest, kindest soul that  @anniedixon__  and I have met on the road. After hearing she went to be with the Jesus last night I was reflecting this morning on the times we had together," Dixon wrote.

Singer and songwriter Matthew West paid tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator with lyrics from their song "Only the World", stating that they "hit differently" now that Mandisa was gone.

"I am so incredibly saddened to hear about the loss of my friend Mandisa. I will always cherish the memories of times we spent together hosting award shows, going on tour, and most of all helping her tell her story in the songwriting room," West also wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts also paid tribute to the late singer.

"My heart is heavy hearing about Mandisa. Incredibly blessed that she was there my first day back on ⁦ @GMA ⁩ following my long medical leave. Her beautiful music & spirit lifted me and countless others," Roberts wrote on X.

Fellow musician Don Moen provided a statement to The Tennessean, saying Mandisa was not only a powerhouse of a talent, but that she also possessed a genuinely kind spirit.

"We ministered together several times, she sang background vocals on my album 'Thank You Lord' and joined me on several tours," the statement read. "On one particular tour, notes kept appearing in everyone's bunk on the bus or in their instrument cases. These were encouraging messages like: 'You are blessed and highly favored,' or 'You're such a blessing on this tour.' Only at the end of the tour did we discover it had been Mandisa. Whether behind the scenes or center stage, her presence always brought joy and hope.

Where was Mandisa from?

Mandisa was born in California, but her home was in Tennessee.

She graduated Fisk University in Nashville in 2000 and was a member of the famed Fisk University Jubilee singers. She called Tennessee home after her graduation, through her "American Idol" tenure, a Grammy win, multiple albums and until her death on Thursday.
