SCORPIONS ' latest album, "Rock Believer" , was released on February 25. The album was recorded primarily at Peppermint Park Studios in Hannover, Germany and was mixed at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin, Germany with engineer Michael Ilbert , who has earned multiple Grammy nominations for his mix work with producer Max Martin on albums by Taylor Swift and Katy Perry .

SCORPIONS originally intended to record the new album in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman , whose previous credits include SLIPKNOT and METALLICA . However, because of the pandemic, some of the initial work was done with Greg remotely, after which SCORPIONS opted to helm the recordings themselves with the help of their engineer Hans-Martin Buff .

SCORPIONS ' new album marks their first release since 2017's "Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads" , which was an anthology of new and classic material.

Meine told Chile's Radio Futuro that "Rock Believer" is "dedicated to all the rock believers in the world. And we're very excited after all these years. We thought, when you think about all the touring we did the last 10 years, after the release of 'Return To Forever' in 2015, the time was right to go back into the studio, to write new material, to write new songs and check out if the creativity is still working. The big aim was, the goal was to make a rock album — to make an album with lots of attitude, power and focus on the good old times and really enjoy the music and have some fun with the music. And that feels really good."

SCORPIONS ' previous full-length collection of new recordings was the aforementioned "Return To Forever" , partially comprising songs the band had in the vault from the '80s. It was the final recorded appearance of SCORPIONS ' longtime drummer James Kottak , who was dismissed from the band in September 2016. He has since been replaced by Mikkey Dee , formerly of MOTÖRHEAD .

Last July, WHITESNAKE announced that it had enlisted Croatian singer/multi-instrumentalist Dino Jelusick for its upcoming tour. Jelusick is a member of multi-platinum selling band TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and was previously part of DIRTY SHIRLEY (with George Lynch ), ANIMAL DRIVE and recorded with many others. The 29-year-old Dino has been singing, touring and recording since the age of five. Other than being a frontman, his main instrument are keyboards but he also plays bass, guitar and drums. He finished music academy and did theater work.

Coverdale , who turned 70 last September, recently confirmed that he plans to retire from touring after WHITESNAKE 's next batch of concerts around the world.

Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.

WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood" , which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl .

Mid-Year Report

Scorpions Announce 2022 North American Tour with Whitesnake

The two-month outing kicks off in late August and runs through late October

Scorpions Whitesnake summer 2022 tour

Scorpions have announced a 2022 North American tour in support of their latest album, Rock Believer . Joining the legendary German band on the two-month trek will be fellow veteran rockers Whitesnake , who will be on their farewell outing.

The late summer / early fall “Rock Believer Tour” kicks off August 21st in Toronto, Canada, and runs through an October 21st show in Las Vegas. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 13th at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster , with a Live Nation pre-sale beginning Thursday, May 12th (use code FINALE ).

“After the amazing start we’ve had with our residency in Las Vegas, it‘s about time to come back for a real tour to rock the US like a hurricane again,” said Scorpions singer Klaus Meine, borrowing a line from one of the band’s most famous songs. “We can‘t wait to see all you Rock Believers out there!”

Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale added, “Once again it’s time to feel the sting of the Scorpions & the bite of the Whitesnake!!! Can’t Wait!!!”

Scorpions released their 19th album, Rock Believer , in February of this year, marking the band’s first LP in seven years. It’s also the first album to feature current drummer Mikkey Dee, the Motörhead veteran who joined Scorpions in 2016, following the passing of Lemmy Kilmister.

Coverdale, who turned 70 this past September, previously announced that Whitesnake’s upcoming tour would be their last. The band kicks off its final outing on Tuesday night (May 10th) with a European jaunt before linking up with Scorpions for the North American run.

“We have this farewell tour, and when I say that I’m retiring, I’m retiring from touring at this level. It’s so huge and it takes months and months and months to set up,” said Coverdale back in November. “I was hoping, actually, to retire at 69, which is absolutely the best age for the lead singer of Whitesnake to step down.”

Swedish band Thundermother will serve as opening act for the entire tour. See the full list of dates and the tour poster below, and pick up tickets here .

*  SCORPIONS  only

SCORPIONS ‘ new album marks their first release since 2017’s  “Born To Touch Your Feelings – Best Of Rock Ballads” , which was an anthology of new and classic material.

SCORPIONS ‘ previous full-length collection of new recordings was the aforementioned  “Return To Forever” , partially comprising songs the band had in the vault from the ’80s. It was the final recorded appearance of  SCORPIONS ‘ longtime drummer  James Kottak , who was dismissed from the band in September 2016.

Coverdale  had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.

WHITESNAKE  had been touring in support of its latest album,  “Flesh & Blood” , which was released in May 2019 via  Frontiers Music Srl .

Scorpions Announce 2022 North American Tour with Whitesnake

The post Scorpions Announce 2022 North American Tour with Whitesnake appeared first on Consequence .

Scorpions released their 19th album, Rock Believer , in February of the year, which marked the band’s first LP in seven years.

The band kicks off its final outing on Tuesday night (May 10th) with a European run before linking up with Scorpions for the North American run.

Whitesnake  have bowed out of their  summer 2022 North American tour  with Scorpions  due to bandleader  David Coverdale 's ongoing health issues. The English hard rockers' farewell trek  had already missed several dates due to illness.

Scorpions and Thundermother will still play the shows this summer, which kick off Aug. 21 in Toronto and continue across the U.S. into fall. See the dates below.

Whitesnake's cancellation came Friday (Aug. 5) after the band's guitarist Reb Beach  missed several gigs with the group when he was  under the weather  in June.

Coverdale said in a statement on Whitesnake's website, "It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join the Scorpions on their U.S. and Canadian tour due to my continued treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that affects my ability to perform."

He added, "This includes the cancellation of our own headlining shows as well. While Whitesnake will no longer be on the tour, the Scorpions will be continuing on. We Wish Our Good Friends, The Scorpions Every Success!!!"

Coverdale followed with a personal note  on Instagram:

Whitesnake Cancels North American Tour With Scorpions: Health Issues

whitesnake north american tour 2022

The 2022 edition of Whitesnake

Whitesnake have announced they’ve their 2022 North American tour with Scorpions. The band revealed the decision on August 5, five weeks after they canceled the remaining dates of the European edition of their farewell tour due to what they describe as “health challenges.” That earlier July 1 announcement came upon the heels of a series of health issues to David Coverdale, Tommy Aldridge and Reb Beach. The U.S. dates that the band was scheduled to open for Scorpions, begin on August 17. Instead, Thunder Mother have replaced them as the opening act.

The Aug. 5 post from Coverdale about the latest cancellation appeared on the group’s social media accounts. “It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join The Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour due to my continued treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that affects my ability to perform. This includes the cancellation of our own headlining shows as well.

“We Wish Our Good Friends, The Scorpions Every Success!!!”

Guitarist Reb Beach was the first to succumb due to undisclosed health issues that caused him to miss four shows. That was followed by news about Tommy Aldridge. On Saturday, June 25, the day the band was scheduled to perform at a festival in Spain, the organizers issued a statement that described the drummer as having “severe health problems. “Just when we had all the backline and stage preparations from Whitesnake ready for their show today,” read the announcement from Rock Imperium, “their booking agent informed us of the sad news that Tommy Aldridge is having severe health problems today, so we regret to announce the cancellation of their show at Rock Imperium Festival. We are really sorry for any inconveniences caused, we are devastated and can only wish Tommy a quick recovery.”

That same day, Whitesnake posted a statement that read, in part: “Please know we are doing everything in our power to bring you the best high energy and exciting shows we possibly can. We always strive to deliver 100%, as Whitesnake fans always deserve that much, and never anything less.

“We knew embarking on this tour could present many new obstacles and potential issues, which had been unknown to us on previous tours. We sincerely apologize to our Spanish fans for unavoidably having to cancel tonight’s show.”

The next day, June 26, the band posted a follow-up note. “The Spanish promoter released a misleading statement. Tommy was under the weather, as we all can get, but is getting better: he never had, what was inaccurately described as ‘severe health problems’ and can’t wait to get back out there to perform for the fans!“

David Coverdale via his Facebook page

Just one day later, on June 27, came more bad news from Coverdale. “The rigors of the road are the same for all of us and we have been trying to keep everyone healthy and safe,” he wrote. “Unfortunately we have been hit recently with a couple of situations that we have been dealing with, the best we can.

“First our beloved band leader Reb Beach went down temporarily and he missed a couple of shows while he mended (and is much better now, by the way).

“Then the rock of our band, the Legendary Tommy Aldridge went down and we unfortunately were not able to play the Rock Imperium Festival.

“Tommy was bad enough at the time to have missed the first show ever in his career – The GOOD news is that he is feeling better and is anxious to get back out there to perform for all of you.”

Coverdale then shared his own health news. “Unfortunately I have now been hit hard as well. I started feeling a bit under the weather two days ago, and was just diagnosed with an infection of the sinus & trachea. The doctor recommends 5 days of no singing and bed rest.”

Several shows were canceled though they hoped to finish the remaining European dates. However, on July 1, the tour was ended abruptly. “It is with the deepest sadness that I must announce that due to continuing health challenges, doctor’s orders, and our concern for everyone’s health and safety, Whitesnake is unable to continue its European Farewell Tour,” Coverdale wrote.

“I extend my sincere apologies to all of Whitesnake’s amazing fans who have been looking forward to the remaining scheduled shows of this tour, all of our amazing, fabulous snakes & tour personnel who have been working so hard to put on these shows, and all of the promoters and other professionals who have helped set up the tour.

“I Appreciate & Love You All!!!”

So they’ve been replaced with ” Thunder Mother?” Who the fuck is that? This is fucking lame….

StevieRae

I am in Portland Oregon and have tickets to the show and I am completely bummed! I agree: WHO the fuck!

TyStick

Man, This sucks! I have tickets for the Oakland, California show on October 18th, 2022. I hope all is well with your health.

KJ

I also have tickets to Oakland. I am trying to at least get a refund. I was only going to see Whitesnake. So far I am not having any luck getting a refund.

Ninjagreg

I hope the show I’m going to in Belmont, NY gets cancelled and I get a refund. Not even half the tickets are sold. They need a real band to open…not a nobody band like Thundermother. WTF! Shame on you Scorpions and Ticketmaster.

Phillippa13

How can you blame the other 2 bands for the health problems of the other band, who are in their 70’s, mind you? Get real…

I’m flying from the East Coast to the final date of the tour in Las Vegas. So sorry to hear about Whitesnake band members’ ill health and wish them a swift recovery. But I am so pumped to see the Scorpions, the real reason for my going to my first rock concert in over 40 years! ThunderMother was slated to join the Scorpions and Whitesnake all along, they did not “replace” Whitesnake. They are an all-female Swedish band, and they are quite talented.

yes no wheel

Wow, this is sad news. Whitesnake was one of my favorite bands back in the day.
