The 13-city, 14-date outing will also find the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer playing East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium for the first time since 2016. “I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!,” the indefatigable 79-year-old said in a statement.

The tour will mark some other firsts and landmarks for Macca, who will make his live debut in three cities — Hollywood (FL), Knoxville (TN) and Winston-Salem (NC) — as well as his first gigs in Fort Worth, Texas and Baltimore, Maryland since 1976 with Wings and 1964 with the Beatles, respectively; he’ll also play in Oakland for the first time in 20 years.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public beginning Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. local time, with American Express card members invited to get in early on Tuesday (Feb. 22) at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday (Feb. 24) at 10 p.m. local time. The Got Back dates are McCartney’s first run of live shows since his 39-date, 12-country Freshen Up tour wrapped up in July 2019.

Sir Paul McCartney MBE is an English musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

He was part of perhaps the most famous British band of the 20th century, The Beatles who are regarded as one of the most popular and influential acts in the history of rock music and his songwriting partnership with John Lennon is one of the greatest of all time. McCartney has been recognised as one of the most successful performers of all time collating 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist.

In 1999 he received the honour of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist due to the fact that he has written, or co-written 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music. He performed at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and is seen as ambassador of British music.

McCartney first met Lennon at a church fete in 1967 where he was performing with his current band The Quarrymen, little did they know they would form such a close working relationship and would eventually become the most successful recording band in history. Cited as the driving force behind the first ever rock concept album, 'St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club', McCartney kept creativity at the forefront of everything he did.

He currently holds an honorary doctorate degree from Yale Music, a Brit Award for an Outstanding Contribution to Music, twenty-one Grammy Awards and a knighthood. The tireless musician is still touring to this day and shows no sign of slowing.

Live reviews

The Paul McCartney concert on October 30, 2014 in Greensboro, NC was far and away the best concert I have been to and I have been to many. To see this music legend alone is amazing but to see him and his band, not missing a beat the entire evening, goes beyond amazing. McCartney's voice gave just a little a couple of times but his enery and showmanship was spot on, and and other than those one or two times, his voice was as rich as ever. Make no mistake, the tickets were expensive but you get every penny's worth of your money back in the show you get. He started late, about 45 minutes or so, but then played for almost 3 straight hours and did 2 extended encores. Just amazing. I saw BB King not too long ago and he played about the length of one of McCartney's encores and just droned on and on for the rest of the hour long show, telling stories that I guess he found entertaining but no one else did, as evidenced by a few boo's. Sad and a waste of good money. Don't get me wrong-I still love BB King but it was a sad waste of time and money that night. You will not have any waste seeing Paul McCartney. His renditions of the old Beatles songs were a delightful step back in time, his Wings songs as tight as ever and it all just got better and better. The lighting and background effects on a large wall of lights produced beautiful effects that went from psychadelic to photo's of children, the Beatels, buildings and more. Standing alone and playing an acoustic guitar on a large block that rose about 20 feet above the stage was fantastic, with a full moon, leafless tree and midnight blue sky behind him. And then a large blue rose forming on the front of the block just set the mood for his excellent guitarwork and vocals. When the show ends with Live and Let Die, they pyrotechnics were amazing. The roar of about 16,000 fans combined with fireworks and blasts of flames in perfect unison was the way to hit a finale. And the 2 encores were a perfect end to a perfect night. If you get a chance to see Paul McCarney, go-just go! Worth the money and then some!

PAUL MCCARTNEY is Out There playing for 3 hours. Yes, that is right! Pauly rocked the sold out show for 3 hours. This is the third time I have had the pleasure of seeing him and have seen many other bands but this was the best show I have ever seen. Not only did he rock out with fab Beatle songs like "Helter Skelter" but he also slowed it down with songs like "The Long And Winding Road". He treated us to some great Wings surprises like "Hi Hi Hi" and "Listen To What The Man Said". He also played some great songs from his latest album "New". I have his concert DVD's and he added many different songs to the mix while still keeping in some of the hoped for favorites.

I don't want to give anything away but there are some awesome surprises music wise awaiting the lucky person who will attend one of his shows.

This is a must see show, the material spanned his entire career. He sounded fantastic and he looks great! To all the ladies out there, you will still swoon when you see him! I did! He was funny and charming. One of the most refreshing things was that you could tell he was having an awesome time and you felt like he wanted to stay and play longer as much as you wanted him to stay and play longer! He really shows his fans that he cares about us as much as we care about him.

A very cool and unexpected event: He brought a couple up onstage who had a sign stating that he was ordained and would he marry them. He did a short little ceremony for them stating that it really wasn't legal but it was awesome! I totally wanted to grab the guy next to me (who I didn't know) and yell "We're next!"

I really think this is a show for anyone who really loves music. Paul was changing his guitar's and bass's out even playing one of his original guitars that he used for Sgt.Peppers. Throwing in an awesome tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Go see him if you get the chance. I would go again tonight if I could!

Beatles legend and Wings mainman, Paul McCartney will remain indelibly etched into the annals of time. The humanitarian, bassist and vocalist has traversed six decades, performing in some of the world's biggest and best venues, at historic moments (Band Aid), and unique moments (who ever pegged Macca as a Nirvana member?!), McCartney is a one-of-a-kind performer, fully deserving his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 72-year-old Liverpudlian is entirely at ease on stage – he's essentially lived there for the best portion of his life – his catalogue is studded with megaton hits. Bond theme “Live And Let Die” (replete with flamethrowers when performed at festivals), Stevie Wonder duet “Ebony and Ivory”, “Coming Up” and “Jet” are non-Beatles bangers, but he frequently performs legendary cuts like “Let It Be”, “Back In The USSR” and “Hey Jude” at the end of his sets. How thoroughly immense is it watching a genuine Beatle lead a rousing chorus of “Naa naa naa nanananaaaaa?" Though arguably not as elastic as he once was – don't expect too many backflips – he's still a consummate entertainer. His voice has aged, but he still smashes every note, and his fretwork's not diminished a smidgen. It's rare you get to see a legend in the flesh, but grab any chance to witness McCartney, and you'll not regret it.

Paul McCartney. Just let the legend of that name sink in.

I can honestly, without a doubt say that this was the best concert/show I have ever been to (and I have been to numerous concerts).

Not only did he perform his New songs, but he performed all of his hits from The Beatles to The Wings as well. And I am sure he barely hit the top of the iceberg with what he performed considering his incredible library of number 1s and hundreds upon hundreds of songs.

This 72 year old man performed a 3 hour nonstop performance in clouding pyrotechnics, memoriams to his late and great Beatle counterparts, and 3 encores without breaking a sweat.

He may not be able to hold his notes as long as he did when he was younger but he still sounded amazing nonetheless. I was blown away and so happy that I can tell my kids when I am older that I saw one of The Beatles and it was perfect.

I don't think I have ever recommended a concert as highly as I am for Sir Paul. He is a living legend and am honored to have seen him rocking, running all over the place and putting on a great performance at the age of 72.

YOU MUST GO SEE HIM LIVE. It's an experience well worth the money and his tickets start at 25 for far seats but even so, WORTH IT.

BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE!! I can say Even one of the most incredible moments of my life. I know what it means being able to see the legend Sir Paul McCartney live and he fullfill all my expectations and way more! His band is absolutely amazing!

But let me tell you the highlight of my year:

I could only afford the cheapest level tickets but I was more than ok with that since i was going to see my idol, then on my way to our seats with my 2 girlfriends, an angel waiting at the top of the stairs ask us to see our tickets and then offer to change them, we were surprised and maybe thinking it was a scam but then she pulled her envelope with 3 FIRST ROW TICKETS!! Best seat in the arena, she identify herself as part of Sir Paul team, and after many thank yous and hugs we went to see the biggest concert.

Thats why he is the absolutely GREATEST rock star of this planet! Beacuse he truly cares about his audiences, i will never in my wildest dreams tought i was going to see able to be on the first row, besides the wonderful drama of the situation his performance was perfect, spotless, he is full of energy and will be forever grateful to him for such an amazing night.

Sir Paul McCartney concert in Munchen was fabulous (Fab four, Fab one :)). The Olympiastadion was full of happy delighted people who were lucky enough to get a ticket. There were Beatles fans along with Wings and Macca fans from many different countries, young and not so young people, all cheerfully singing the everlasting songs and dancing to our beloved music that defined the lives of many of us. The show went on for full 2 hours and 40 minutes, almost 40 songs from all periods, from late 50's to nowadays hits.

For me, it was a once in a lifetime event. I grew up with Beatles and Paul McCartney music, and I have been waiting for a long time for this. It's been a long time since I bought my first Beatles record, even long time since I bought my last one (not to mention I have all Beatles records plus many of their solo albums :)), and the possibility to see one of my heroes live in concert, it was just a dream come true.

It was worth every single penny spent on concert ticket, air ticket, airport transfers, accomodation for couple of days, and of course whole lotta german beer :)

Long live Sir Paul, long live Beatles, forever live their eternal music!

This is the second time I've seen Paul McCartney in the past few years, and yet again he did NOT disappoint. First of all, he played almost 3 hours both times, so you will get plenty of bang for your buck based on the duration of his show alone. Secondly, considering he is 72 years old, he still nails most of the hard notes and delivers a true, genuine performance while frequently interacting with the audience in between songs. Paul is a very personable character that makes the fans feel appreciated and loved as much as we love him. His show started with a few songs that would be recognizable to the casual fan, it delved off into some less "commonly" known songs and a couple cuts from his new album (which also sounded great), then he closed out the show with MANY huge hits and sing-alongs that definitely left the audience wanting more! The pyrotechnics that kicked in during Live and Let Die were unexpected and amazing! I think he also did three encores as well, and I would definitely return to watch any future shows he does in Kansas City!

aronktaylor’s profile image

I don't need to say how amazing this man is and how happy I am to have attended this show. On "Live and let die" there was even pyrotechnics and fireworks. Paul was telling us stories, singing and joking, I think he switched more than 5 guitars during the show and the evening was just overall beautiful.

The venue was terrible, though.. There was no warning about not bringing the bags and we had to pay 15 Euros to leave the bag before getting in - backpacks were not allowed at all (so they basically forced us to give this money as it was too late to go back to hotel and leave it there). Also the security check was useless.. We were drinking in line to warm up and forgot about empty bottle in the pocket.. Guess what? We were able to bring a GLASS BOTTLE through security check, cause we didn't remember and they never checked.. What if I was a psycho? It's glass after all.

As soon as the legend, Sir Paul McCartney himself took the stage, the magic began! He performed for three solid hours, entertaining the crowd with songs written with the Beatles, with Wings, and on his own. I got teary-eyed when he first came into view, as you don't expect to see a legend, at 72 years old, still performing at the top of his game! Paul McCartney still LOVES what he does! Financially, he doesn't need to perform. He does it because he loves to and because he still can, which is impressive! This concert shall be one of my favorites for a long time - and I've attend many concerts in my lifetime. He came out and did two encores, even running around the stage. He never sat down unless poised at the piano. A legend, a master, a must-see!

Paul McCartney announces Australian tour, regional cities included in line-up

Paul McCartney plays the guitar on stage.

Legendary musician Paul McCartney has announced he will bring his Got Back tour to Australia this year, with two regional cities on the line-up.

Key points:

  • Sir Paul will play Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast
  • His US tour featured a catalogue of Beatles, Wings, and solo hits across nearly 3 hours
  • The show features a duet with the late John Lennon using modern technology

The English singer-songwriter who gained worldwide fame with The Beatles will hold shows in Newcastle and the Gold Coast for the first time.

The tour will kick off in Adelaide on October 18, the city where The Beatles made history in 1964 on their first visit to Australia .

An estimated 350,000 people lined the streets between the airport and Town Hall to catch a glimpse of the band.

Sir Paul will then travel to Melbourne for a show on October 21, Newcastle October 24, Sydney October 27, Brisbane November 1, and the Gold Coast on November 4.

This will be his first time in Australia since his award-winning tour in 2017 .

Regional cities on the line-up

The tour will include first visits to Newcastle and Gold Coast.

Frontier Touring CEO Dion Brant said Sir Paul wanted "at least a few places different" to his 2017 tour.

" We saw when Elton [John] came just how Newcastle embraced the show and embraced Elton and his team," he said.

"We were super excited to suggest the [regional locations] to Paul and we're really excited that he's agreed to do it."

Mr Brant said the company had been wanting to get Sir Paul back after his visit six years ago.

"People were blown away and there was so much regret from people who didn't go, back in 2017," he said.

"To be honest, we started conversations then about coming back the following summer … and then Paul got quite busy.

"And you know, it's Paul McCartney … so you take the time frame you can get."

What can the audience expect?

Mr Brant said fans can expect a jam-packed show.

"In the US last year he was playing for just under three hours, plays dozens of songs, and the set lists are all over the internet. But it's hit after hit after hit," he said.

"I think that the interesting thing with Paul is he's got such a deep catalogue of Beatles songs, Wings songs, and solo hits, that you know it's impossible to fit them all in.

"But he has a fair go for somebody his age."

The show features a duet with the late John Lennon using modern technology.

Mr Brant said tickets start around $80, up to around $400.

VIP packages will also be available.

Arts | photos taken by paul mccartney during the beatles’ first trip to america will make their u.s. debut in norfolk, the photos from the early 1960s, which included stops in europe, were displayed in london. now they’ll show starting tuesday at the chrysler museum..

A simple black-and-white shot of the faces of John Lennon and George Harrison. Paris, January 1964.

In a Paris hotel room, Paul snapped a black-and-white selfie in a mirror. On the street, his friend John leaned into the camera frame, striking a goofy and almost schoolboy-like pose shortly before they jetted to America on a trip that would change their lives and millions of others’ forever.

World culture was indefinitely altered when they and the rest of the Beatles in February 1964 stepped off a plane onto a New York City tarmac, to a real-life soundtrack of shrieks from the several thousand young women who’d gathered. In America, Paul snapped a picture of newsmen chasing after their car and photographed the photographers who took pictures of him. Out of New York, he used color film to get a bright portrait of a shirtless George in Miami Beach. Once he even went bokeh, using the effect to capture an artistically blurred Ringo Starr smile.

Paul McCartney was a prolific photographer as a Beatle, and 250 of his images are making their U.S. debut in Norfolk at the Chrysler Museum of Art. This exhibition consists of photos he made shortly before and during the band’s first trip to the U.S., providing a taste of the private side of Beatlemania — the Fab Four during their downtime, the quieter moments in between grand adventures.

“Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm” will be on display at the Chrysler Museum of Art starting Tuesday through April 7.

The Beatles landed a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1964 with “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” and 73 million viewers watched their American television debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” They would go on to score 19 more No. 1 songs and became a mainstay of American culture, their popularity enduring even after they disbanded in 1970. Paul famously wrote or co-wrote the majority of the group’s hits with John Lennon — but few people knew that he once carried a Pentax camera everywhere he went during the earliest days of their success.

The 250 images in the show, taken between November 1963 and February 1964, were rediscovered in McCartney’s personal archive in 2020 while a team at his production company worked on a project about his late wife, Linda McCartney.

The photos have been displayed exclusively at the National Portrait Gallery in London. McCartney could have selected any American museum to showcase his pictures; few museum directors would have said no to a Beatle.

But he agreed to Norfolk. And that’s a big deal, said Lloyd DeWitt, senior curator at the Chrysler.

DeWitt has a working relationship with Melanie Pilbrow, the head of international programs at the National Portrait Gallery, and they have spoken for years about the possibility of bringing a British expo to the Chrysler. So while DeWitt wasn’t shocked that she came to him with the prospect of hosting McCartney’s photos, the offer came as an exciting surprise.

It also arrived with pressure: The expectation was perfection, a seamless transition and flawless redisplay in Virginia.

“It was a risky show,” DeWitt said.

“It’s a celebrity’s photographs and you really have to flip through it to realize: ‘Oh my goodness. This is a really unprecedented moment.’ It’s about photography and about what photography can do. And we are broadening our notion of what is museum photography.”

When the Beatles flew across the pond for the 1964 tour, they had no way of knowing whether their popularity would endure and whether this would be their one shot at experiencing the States. McCartney took pictures just as any tourist would, DeWitt said.

“Paul was just snapping away with his brand-new Pentax. It’s the relationships,” he added, “and the friendships that really come out.”

When the photos were rediscovered, their cultural value was immediately apparent, said Sarah Brown, McCartney’s photographic curator and archivist.

Not only do they illustrate the 1960s, a time of enormous social upheaval in the Western world, and give an inside look at the Beatles, but they also are just pretty good, she said.

McCartney, Brown said, took photos that “had a great kind of artistic integrity to them,” candidly capturing time and place.

“They were really looking from a British perspective at America,” she said. “So, everything was so exciting. It was bigger. It was bolder. It was brighter.”

The exhibition was curated from about 1,000 rediscovered pictures. It also features some videos of the band. And although McCartney’s camera has been lost, a Pentax similar to the one he used in his youth will be on display.

Sir Paul McCartney’s Wings tour bus could fetch up to £200,000 at auction

A bus once used by Sir Paul McCartney during the 1972 Wings Over Europe tour is going under the hammer at auction.

The eye-catching double-decker bus was used by Sir Paul and Linda McCartney, as well as the rest of Wings, to travel more than 7,500 miles across nine countries and 25 cities during the summer of 1972 – with its psychedelic colour scheme ensuring nobody missed it wherever it went.

Completely and faithfully restored to its original heyday condition, the bus features wooden bunk beds, bright yellow colours and a bespoke cover for the upper deck which features “1972 Wings Tour Bus” graphics.

The top deck itself has been engineered as a performance space – now referred to as The McCartney Stage.

Sold by Car and Classic via online auction, the bus could fetch up to £200,000 by the time the hammer falls. The auction is set to run from April 22-29.

The bus is accompanied by artefacts and memorabilia donated by founding Wings member Danny Seiwell, while an official licence permits the use of artwork, logos and the names of both Paul and Linda McCartney.

Dale Vinten, Car & Classic head of editorial, said: “Just as [John] Lennon’s Rolls-Royce and the notable cars of other Beatles members carry the weight of history, tour buses tell a different story, and bear witness to the behind-the-scenes magic that fuels the onstage brilliance.

“This essence is perfectly encapsulated in the Wings tour bus, still adorned in its psychedelic colours, and restored to how it would’ve been when the McCartneys and the rest of the band toured Europe over the summer of 72.”

'Eyes of the Storm' – A Visual Journey Across Six Cities

Black and white photograph taken by Paul McCartney showing a large crowd of people awaiting the arrival of The Beatles at Miami in 1964

Did you know that 19th August is also known as World Photography Day? This year, it fortuitously falls right in the middle of Paul’s photography exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, which runs until 1st October! Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm  features almost 200 of Paul’s own photographs taken at the height of ‘Beatlemania’, when he and his bandmates became a global phenomenon.

While the exhibition (and accompanying book 1964: Eyes of the Storm )   provides a unique perspective on The Beatles’ rise to super-stardom, viewed from the inside looking out, Paul’s photographs also unveil the profound influence of the places they travelled to in this period. These six extraordinary cities – Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington DC and Miami – have their own place in The Beatles’ story, as they inspired and helped shape the artistic vision of the band.

Through the lens of Paul's Pentax camera, the timeless grandeur of Paris and the electric buzz of New York are immortalised, the intimate feel of London’s theatre scene is revealed, and the glamour of Miami Beach is represented in glorious technicolour. Here’s a rundown of those six key cities, and why they were so important...

Liverpool  7th – 22nd December 1963

Black and white photo of Cilla Black in 1964

It all began in Liverpool, the epicentre of The Beatles' origin story, where four young friends helped to change popular culture. Paul’s photographs paint a vivid montage of the era, showcasing familiar faces such as Cilla Black and Brian Epstein who all play up to the camera and display a touch of ‘Scouse humour’.

As Beatlemania was in its infancy, Paul's photographic style was also being moulded, influenced by the photography of The Observer newspaper and the photographers around them such as Dezo Hoffman and Robert Freeman. These seasoned professionals left a mark on him, fostering his ability to capture key moments, like The Beatles' performance on the Juke Box Jury at the Empire Theatre.

London 24th December - 12th January 1964

Black and white self-portrait photograph of Paul McCartney in London, 1963

London beckoned The Beatles at the end of 1963, as they were booked to play a special Christmas show at the Astoria Theatre in Finsbury Park. Armed with paper maps and the iconic London A-Z atlas, Paul immersed himself in the city's vibrant streets, capturing its essence through his lens and finding inspiration for art and music.

Paul was welcomed into Jane Asher's family home on Wimpole Street, and it was here that he felt able to further experiment with photography. Paul captured intimate self-portraits at the Asher’s family home that echoes a sense of introspective moodiness; reflecting the city's diverse character and the band's rising stardom.

Paris  14th January - 5th February 1964

Black and white photograph of a sign outside l'Olympia theatre in Paris saying Les Beatles

“I hate to admit it, but it’s tourists. It’s what tourists do when you go to a place: you take pictures. With us, I think we had a bit more of an artistic eye, so instead of, ‘You stand in front of the Arc de Triomphe and I’ll take a picture of you,’ it was more the misty view of Arc de Triomphe.” - Paul

The Beatles' arrival in Paris in 1964. Through Paul’s lens, a vivid tapestry of the Parisian experience emerges; influenced by the cinematic aesthetic of French New Wave films, Paul brought a moody and sometimes avant-garde aspect to his captures. From viewing the misty Arc de Triomphe from a car window to preserving intimate memories of camaraderie in their hotel suite, Paul's photographic eye truly caught the essence of Paris.

New York  7– 11th, 12-13th February 1964

Black and white photograph taken by Paul McCartney taken in New York in 1964

The journey across the Atlantic was fuelled by dreams of American icons and music that Paul and The Beatles had become fascinated with. As they touched down at JFK Airport, it was obvious the ‘Beatlemania’ that had begun in their hometown of Liverpool had grown stronger and travelled wider. Not just the city, but the entire country, was in a frenzy. Paul immortalised these moments with his Pentax, from the wave of fans chasing them down New York streets to the quieter, introspective times in their hotel suite.

During all this pandemonium, the band's quintessentially British humour surfaced, turning press encounters into games of quips. The Beatles' historic performance on The Ed Sullivan Show , despite their initial unease with the heavy orange makeup, was an exhilarating experience watched by a staggering 73 million viewers. Through Paul's eyes, these photographs become more than mere snapshots; they are visual narratives, painting a portrait of The Beatles' inaugural American trip. Washington D.C. 11th- 12th February 1964

“Seeing Washington was very impressive. The White House looked very white and clean and wonderful. None of us had ever been to Washington. The train ride down was particularly fun, because we travelled with our press corps, a bit like the President on Air Force One. It had been snowing, which was nice. It kind of lent a bit of character and excitement.” - Paul

The Beatles brief yet impactful stopover in Washington D.C. came at a time of political uncertainty in America, which had recently been shaken by the assassination of President Kennedy. The heavy snowfall added to the atmosphere at locations such as The White House, perhaps the most famous building in the USA, which Paul snapped a photo of from inside a car.

Miami  13th- 21st February 1964

Colour photograph of George Harrison in Miami being handed a drink by a bikini clad women

“The colour pictures start happening really when we get to Miami, and I like that aspect of the selection of pictures because it’s like we were living in a black and white world on the rest of the tour and suddenly we're in Wonderland: Florida, the sun, the swimming pools...” - Paul

In Miami, the sunshine and sea views were a stark contrast to the cold cities The Beatles had just left. This shift in visual atmosphere inspired Paul to switch to colour Kodachrome film, a medium more suited to the sunshine-drenched and easy-going essence of the city. The images he captured during this time provide glimpses not just into the public moments of The Beatles' whirlwind journey, but also the fun they had relaxing by the pool, venturing out on boats and looking out of their beachfront hotel windows.

Despite the frenetic energy surrounding The Beatles' rise to fame, these photographs offer a sense of ease, giving an insight into the moments of respite from the swirling storm of Beatlemania. Each city had a profound impact on the aesthetic and style of Paul’s photographs, shaping the narrative of the exhibition and book.

Eyes of the Storm is not merely a collection of captivating photographs; it serves as a testament to the influence that each city's people and culture, architectural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere had on the band.

Paul McCartney’s psychedelic double-decker bus used during Wings’ 1972 tour up for auction

A PSYCHEDELIC bus used by Paul McCartney during a tour of Europe is set to go under the hammer.

The garish double-decker took Wings on the run across nine countries for 25 shows in 1972.

Paul McCartney’s restored 1972 Wings tour bus appears at Hard Rock Piccadilly Circus ahead of auction

Wanting to take their family road, the band sourced a 1953 Bristol KSW5G open-topped bus to drive them across the continent.

They asked renowned artist Geoffrey Cleghorn to jazz it up with a paint job inspired by The Beatles' Yellow Submarine and Magical Mystery Tour album covers.

Along with a good lick of paint, the interior of the bus was also smartened up to allow the group's children to play and sleep.

It took Wings across the whole mammoth 7,500-mile road trip for the Wings Over Europe tour in 25 cities between July 9, 1972 and August 24.

Beatles legend McCartney previously said: "We knew we were going to tour in Europe and that the weather would be nice, and the idea of being stuck in a bus all the time, going from city to city, hotel to hotel, wasn’t too appealing.

"So we decided to travel around in an open-top bus and get some sunshine as we travelled from one place to another."

It was then returned to service for several years, having previously been used for Chelmsford bus routes and to take holidaymakers to Butlins.

At one point, the infamous bus was put on display outside a rock-themed cafe in Tenerife.

In 2019, the bus was bought and later restored in 2022, when it was unveiled at the NEC Classic Motor Show that November.

Now the giant piece of memorabilia is looking for a new home and is being auctioned off by Car and Classic .

Wings' drummer Denny Seiwell even donated his 1972 Wings touring trunk, which comes with the bus, and each band member's name is emblazoned on the back.

The bus paintwork has been painstakingly restored, and the interior returned to how it was during the tour.

It is just one of three Beatles-related vehicles that are custom painted, alongside John Lennon’s psychedelic Rolls-Royce and George Harrison’s similarly decorated Mini.

The auction starts on April 22 - but eager Beatles fans can submit a pre-bid before then.
