How to reach.

The nearest airport to Mudigere is the Mangalore International Airport (Airport code: IXE, 120 Km). The problem is although the airport is connected to the air network, there is a lot to be desired in terms of road connectivity. From here, there are no direct buses available. We recommend you book a cab and reach Mudigere by road.

The nearest railway station to Mudigere is the Chikmagalur Railway Station (Station Code: CMGR,  32 Km). But be advised that the train frequency is low and after reaching Chikmagalur, your best bet is to hop on a direct bus from Chikmagalur to Mudigere.

In our extensive experience, the best option to reach Mudigere is by boarding a bus from Chikmagalur or using a private vehicle.

The local buses are less frequent. This makes relying on public transport to commute between places in Mudigere, not an ideal option.

In these situations, the best option for you is to bring your/rented vehicle. However, there are no two-wheeler rentals available in Mudigere. We recommend you follow the more common option of hiring a vehicle from Chikmagalur and visiting Mudigere on a day trip format.

Note: OLA, Uber, and other ride services are not available.

Mudigere has several hygienic and reliable eateries. Even, when you leave Mudigere, you’ll be able to find small outlets that generally tend to sell omelets, Maggi, tea, coffee, and other snacks.

Note: Door delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy are not available.

You can find good hotels and lodges near the Mudigere bus stand. There are also decent homestays near Devaramane.

Before booking, do ensure you confirm the accessibility of the services listed below:

  • The availability of pick up and drop off facility from the bus stand, in case, you are using public transport. Commonly, they charge extra for this service.
  • Wifi & network availability
  • Hot water facility
  • Vehicle to rent if required

From January to June, the weather is dry, hot, and humid. So, the best time to visit Mudigere is from September to December. If you are vising during the monsoon months of July and August, be prepared to embrace heavy rainfall.

We recommend you have raincoats handy regardless of the season, as the weather is unpredictable and the region is frequented by unexpected showers regularly.

Carry enough cash. Withdraw cash from the ATMs available in Mudigere itself. There are no ATM options in the other places that we recommend you visit. As the internet connection is poor when moving out of the main town, you cannot rely on UPI and other online payment options.

Kannada is the native and only spoken language by the people of Mudigere.

You’ll get good reception from all network providers in the town of Mudigere. However, once you step a few kilometers away from the town, the signal strength regardless of your provider deteriorates to nothing.

We recommend you download offline maps and map out the places you are planning to visit before you start. Direction boards are clear enough to guide you on the route. We also encourage you to get help from the locals.

There are no petrol bunks available en route, so ensure you fill your tank before leaving Mudigere. In case of unexpected emergencies, we advise that you ask some of the shops, as some do tend to sell petrol in bottles.

After the Kanada movie screening of Love Mocktail2, this 1000-year-old temple gained a lot of well-deserved traction among the Kannadigas, and by no means is the hype overstated. This temple located amidst the forest, for no discernible geographical reason is truly outstanding, calm, and serene. The pooja to the deity is done every morning between 7:30 A.M. and 8:30 A.M. Although the door to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is locked after the pooja hours, you can still enjoy the weather and spend admiring the daunting architecture within the temple walls.

Devaramane

A tiny hamlet in Mudigere in Karnataka’s Chikmagalur district, Devaramane is no less than a paradise for the off-beat tourists. The term ‘Devaramane’ roughly translates to the ‘Abode of God’ and the serene tranquility that prevails here quite aptly satisfies that nomenclature.

mudigere places to visit

The Chikmagalur region of Karnataka is well-known for its scenic beauty. It is home to few of the most scintillating trekking trails – some rather well-known and others a well-kept secret. Devaramane belongs to the later group. Unlike the other treks, this one ranks low on the difficulty scale and is ideal for those new to the trekking game.

Nestled between the evergreen Western Ghats terrain, Devaramane is a fascinating spot that can enthrall the nature lovers. It is a lush green valley surrounded by undulating hills and dancing streams. You will be greeted by mountains all around as far as your eyes can see. With mist in the air, the foggy atmosphere offers a breath of fresh air. If you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the endemic Haarlu flower – which blossoms once in every 12 years.

This off-beat place is yet to make an impression on the tourism map, so it doesn’t get thronged by swarms of tourists yet. You can be assured of a quiet and rejuvenating vacation. If you are looking for an quick escapade on the lap of mother nature, Devaramane would fit the bill perfectly.

Devaramane is situated near Mudigere in Chikmagalur along the famed Charmadi Ghats section. The nearest major city is Mangalore, which is located at a distance of 118 KM. Around 274 KM away from Bangalore, the place is well-connected by road network. There are ample public transports available, but the adventure seekers prefer to cover this scenic road on bikes and private cars.

Tourism Activities at Devaramane

The tourism activities at Devaramane revolve around the historical temple of Kala Bhairaveshwara. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva, who is worshiped in the form of Kala Bhairava. Perched on top of a hill, it offers sensational bird’s eye view of the distant Western Ghats plateau. One of the reasons why the place is equally advocated by both religious pilgrims as well as nature loving wanderlusts.

Religious sentiments apart, Devaramane is primarily known for being a favorite hunting ground for the trekkers. The mesmerizing 18 KM long trek from the Gutti village is an exhilarating experience. The difficulty level is easy to moderate. The trail unfurls into shola-draped grasslands and takes you across different peaks. You come across gurgling streams and cascading waterfalls. The tranquil lake situated in front of the temple is another tempting prospect.

If you are an angler by heart, then don’t miss out on visiting the Kapila Fishing Camp, which is located just around the corner. Last but not the least, the camping enthusiasts are unlikely to resist the urge to setup a tent on the bank of the lake. You would seldom come across a more scenic place for pitching a camp.

Chikmagalur Trekking Packages

The Chikmagalur region, as previously stated, is a heaven for the trekkers. The place is dotted with numerous trekking trails of varied difficulty levels. Kudremukh trek is perhaps the most famous of them all. Kurinjal Peak trek would not languish far behind in terms of popularity. If you are someone who thrive for the challenge of wilderness, then you must give Bavikonda Kolachi trek a try.

You can capture as much natural beauty as you like through your eyes and take the remaining with the lens of your camera to cherish at a later time. So plan your next holiday at this amazing natural abode, reignite your passion for Mother Nature, reinvigorate your spirits and return with a treasure of unforgettable memories.
