Stephen Ames celebrated his 60th birthday with a successful title defence in the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Duluth, Ga., closing with a 5-under 67 on Sunday for his eighth PGA Tour Champions victory.
A stroke behind Paul Broadhurst after matching the tournament record Saturday with a 64, Ames had two eagles in the final round. He won by four strokes, finishing at 14-under 202 at TPC Sugarloaf for his record third victory in the event.

Broadhurst, the 58-year-old Englishman coming off a victory last week in the Invited Celebrity Classic, closed with a 72 to tie for second with Doug Barron (69). K.J. Choi (70) and Steven Alker (71) were 9 under.
Ames became the first multiple winner this year on the tour, also taking the Chubb Classic in February. He has six victories in his last 29 starts after winning twice in his first 175 — the first at TPC Sugarloaf in 2017 — on the 50-and-over tour. A naturalized Canadian citizen from Trinidad and Tobago and a Vancouver resident, Ames won four times on the PGA Tour.
Ames opened with a birdie on the par-4 first, eagled the par-5 sixth and par-4 13th and birdied the par-4 14th. He bogeyed the par-4 15th and 17th and birdied the par-5 18th.

Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada announces 2022 Qualifying Tournament schedule
TORONTO —The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada announced December 28 it will hold 2022 Qualifying Tournaments at seven separate sites over a six-week period, beginning in mid-February and concluding in late-April. While the global pandemic made it difficult for PGA TOUR Canada to conduct its season as it had since its 2013 inception, the Tour did play a series of eight tournaments for players living in Canada this past summer on top of a set of four events it held in 2020. The 2022 campaign will be the first full season in two years that features a complete complement of members.
Registration for the tournaments begins January 4, 2022 at noon EST. Players can access the registration site here.
“It is so exciting to look forward to next season and everything that is in place for a very successful 2022,” said Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Executive Director Scott Pritchard. “In years past, we’ve been fortunate to have so many players interested in qualifying to compete on PGA TOUR Canada. We anticipate the demand will be similar to what we have experienced in the past as players know the caliber of competition PGA TOUR Canada offers.
“We look forward,” Pritchard continued, “to hosting players at each of these seven outstanding courses as they begin on their paths to reaching the PGA TOUR.”
Six of the Qualifying Tournaments will be in the United States, with one in Canada. The qualifiers begin with two in Florida (Weston and Howey-in-the-Hills). The Howey-in-the-Hills tournament will be held simultaneously with the event in Dothan, Alabama. Following those three tournaments, the Tour moves west in April for qualifiers in Arizona (Litchfield Park), California (San Jacinto) and Washington (DuPont) before playing its final qualifier in Canada at a familiar site, Crowne Isle Resort and Golf Club, in Courtenay, British Columbia.
The seven, 72-hole, no-cut Qualifying Tournaments will all be Tuesday-to-Friday events and take place on the following dates and locations:
“What’s heartening is we are familiar with each one of these venues, and they are all high-quality golf facilities that have either hosted previous PGA TOUR Canada qualifiers or other PGA TOUR International Tour qualifiers,” Pritchard added.
A year ago, Colombia’s Camilo Aguado earned PGA TOUR Canada status and ended up playing on the Forme Tour after capturing medalist honors at The Club at Weston Hills’ Qualifying Tournament.
Mission Inn Resort and Club’s El Campeon Course is a well-known site for both Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Qualifying Tournaments. It has previously hosted five PGA TOUR Canada qualifiers, with Luis Gagne (2021), Isaiah Salinda (2020), John Coultas (2019), Dawson Armstrong (2018) and Jake Knapp (2017) emerging as medalists.
The RTJ Golf Trail at Highland Oaks is familiar with PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying Tournaments, twice a host venue. Previous medalists are Keenan Huskey (2021) and Cameron Young (2020)—Young a rookie on the 2021-22 PGA TOUR.
Jeffrey Kang was the medalist earlier this year, in March, when he won the Qualifying Tournament at Soboba Springs Golf Course in San Jacinto, California, the first time the course served as host. Arizona’s iconic Wigwam was where amateur Clay Feagler was the medalist just a few weeks before his Pepperdine team won the NCAA Championship. The Home Course in the Tacoma suburb of DuPont also was a first-timer, in June, with Canadian Callum Davison the medalist. Davison holds 2022 PGA TOUR Canada status via his Points List win on the series of Canada-based events this past summer.
The Qualifying Tournament season concludes at Crowne Isle Resort and Golf Club, a six-time PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying Tournament host. Previous medalists were Andrew McCain (2019), Jake Shuman (2018), Horacio León (2017), Aaron Wise (2016), Eric Onesi (2015) and David Bradshaw (2014).
“We will be following the sun early in the year then make our way to the warm West Coast of Canada for the final qualifier—at Crowne Isle—in advance of the start of our regular season schedule,” Pritchard continued. “What I like about this schedule is the variety of the courses where we will be holding tournaments and the unique challenges they will present to the players.”
The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada will announce its complete regular season schedule in early 2022. Players who qualify for PGA TOUR Canada and then finish in the top five on the Points List earn Korn Ferry Tour status for the following year.

2024 Zurich Classic live stream, TV schedule, where to watch online, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage
Grab a partner as this team-style event on the pga tour wraps up sunday.
For the seventh straight year, golfers are in the Bayou taking part in the PGA Tour's annual team-style event. The 2024 Zurich Classic welcomed 80 teams of two as partners hoping to grab a trophy by week's end at TPC Louisiana.
Headlining the action are the two players who seemingly do everything together: Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The good friends were victorious in their first go around in 2022 but failed to defend their title a season ago. They started well this go-around but will need to make some major gains on Sunday if they hope to win two of three titles in New Orleans.
A new pairing making its debut features world No. 2 Rory McIlroy -- in his first tournament appearance -- playing alongside Shane Lowry. The duo, which has shared Ryder Cup success, is together near the top of the Zurich Classic leaderboard sitting just two strokes back entering the final 18 holes Sunday.
Follow Zurich Classic playoff coverage now that Round 4 has concluded.
Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala also entered as a strong duo on paper, as was the case with Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama. Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor hoped to do one better than their runner-up performance in 2023 with Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith also starring as an all-Canadian team. Brothers Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick team up for the second straight year with Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard, plus Parker and Pierceson Coody, also making this week a family affair.

What is PGA Tour Canada? [How to Qualify for PGA Tour Canada]
PGA Tour Canada is a series of tournaments hosted in Canada each summer, with one stop in the U.S., where golf stars begin the path to the PGA Tour. Formerly known as the Mackenzie Tour, the PGA Tour Canada remains one of the developmental tours where players can improve or hone their skills in preparation for PGA Q-School and/or the Korn Ferry Tour – with the primary goal of playing on the PGA Tour itself.
Although the tour is hosted and managed in Canada, foreign players from New Zealand, Australia, and the USA are known to be part of it. Owing to that, the PGA Canada tour has become a well-known golf tournament across the world.
If you are looking for the finest competition that the sport has to offer, the PGA Canada tour is a top option to consider. Any aspiring golfer can join the PGA Canada tour, as long as he or she has the skills to play golf at a professional level.
Each year, numerous golfers from around the world get involved in qualifying events of the tour, to win their way into big events and leagues in golf. The Canadian Tour is accredited with sending many players on to PGA Tour success. Canadian Mike Weir, the winner of eight PGA Tour titles – including the 2003 Masters – earned Rookie of the Year honors on the Canadian Tour in 1993.
PGA Tour Canada has its own series of qualifying schools at numerous sites across the country. The medalist at each of the six sites is fully exempt for the season. Also, those in the top 14 (not including ties) are exempt through the first six events, when a reshuffle happens. In case of a tie, note that a playoff is used to determine the final exempt position. Individuals in the top 40 including ties are conditionally exempt.
PGA Tour Canada Qualifying Tournament Procedures and Information
The primary mission of PGA Tour Canada is to deliver a PGA Tour experience for its members, fans, volunteers, and partners, and to ensure that they develop the future stars of professional golf and enrich the communities the Tour visits. Aside from the details and information noted above, here are other key details when looking to qualify for PGA Tour Canada;
Membership Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in PGA Tour Canada, professionals or amateurs will need a handicap index, which when applied to a qualifying course rating, will generate a course handicap of two (2.0) or less. The PGA TOUR reserves the right to validate the handicap index of amateurs and to refuse anyone not in alignment with the requirements.
In accordance with the PGA TOUR Canada Tournament Regulations, a player will need to be 18 years of age or older to qualify for membership.
A player under the age of 18 may be allowed to enter the PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying Tournament, as long as the player turns 18 on or before the first scheduled round of the final (official money) PGA TOUR Canada tournament of the season.
If a player under the age of 18 qualifies for the PGA TOUR Canada, the player would not be eligible for PGA TOUR Canada membership until his 18 th birthday.
The entry fee of $2,600 USD will have to be paid when sending in your application and be payable by credit card. Use of a Visa Debit card is not advisable. The entry fee includes a green fee, coupled with liability insurance coverage, covering liability that may occur as a result of the applicant’s presence at a qualifying competition site.
Only online entries are accepted and the entry fee for any player attempting to enter after the entry deadline will be $3,000 USD. Applications may be submitted for the one-week period as stipulated by the entry availability and deadlines noted by PGA Tour Canada.
Completed applications will be randomly selected until all tournament sites are filled. Note that any applicant whose applications are not selected pursuant to this process will not be eligible to compete in the 2022 PGA TOUR Canada Qualifying Tournament, and their entry fees will be refunded.
Have it in mind that PGA Tour Canada as of 2022 is a 72-hole stroke play competition with the low 30 qualifiers and any player tied for 30 th place earning eligibility status. The winner of each site will be exempt for the entire 2022 season and not subject to any reshuffle(s).
Also, note that Finishers 2-9 will be exempt through the reshuffle which will take place approximately halfway through the season. In case of a tie for 1 st or 9 th position, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following play. Finishers 10-30 and any player tied for 30 th place will get conditional status to the PGA TOUR Canada for the 2022 season.
Field Size & Site Assignment
According to reports, a maximum of 132 players are allowed per site. All 2021 members of the FORME Tour, coupled with all 2021-2022 PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Members will get priority in site assignment but will be drawn on a random basis from virtually the same pool of member applicants.
Member and non-member entries won’t be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and both are subject to the same entry period.
The PGA TOUR Canada still has the right to balance the field size at qualifying sites by assigning any applicant, including members of the aforementioned tours whose applications are received before the entry deadline, to other sites as considered necessary.
Should each of the sites/fields reach the maximum number of players, extra applicants will be assigned as an alternate to their highest-ranked (i.e., first) site preference. Just as with site assignments, alternates will be assigned on a random basis and PGA TOUR Canada still has the right to balance the field size at qualifying sites by assigning any alternate to another site as considered necessary, irrespective of preference.
For players; while on the host facility property, players are expected to present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming. Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts, or shirts with no collar shall not be worn. Shorts are permitted only during the official practice round and the days prior; players will be mandated to wear long pants on official competition days (this also includes when using practice facilities on-site).
For caddies; while on the host facility property, caddies will need to wear either long pants or tailored solid-colored knee-length shorts or skirts. Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts, or shirts with no collar shall not be worn. Smooth rubber sole shoes are required. Sandals, open-toe shoes, and golf shoes with traditional metal or soft spikes are prohibited.
While on host facility property during qualifying rounds, players and caddies are expected to carry themselves professionally. Have it in mind that PGA TOUR reserves the right to remove a player from the qualifying competition for non-competitiveness, conduct unbecoming of a professional by the player, or conduct unbecoming a professional by the player’s caddie.
Tips on How to Qualify for PGA Tour Canada
Any aspiring golfer can join the PGA Canada tour, as long as he or she has the skills to play golf at a professional level. If you are looking to become a professional golfer in Canada, consider these tips noted below.
Work with a Professional
Note that to become a professional golfer in Canada and participate in PGA Tour Canada, it is imperative you first hire the services of a professional golfer. A professional will teach you the right techniques used by professionals when playing the sport. Aside from that, he will make necessary changes to your swing to ensure it is better and more lethal.
Practice, Practice, Practice
To ensure that you become very perfect with your golf swing, you must practice it regularly. Professional golfers tend to invest so much time in hitting balls out of the bunkers and on the range. Don’t forget that regular practice would only make you a better golfer.
Always Remember To Warm Up
It is also important you create a warm-up routine you will use when you are playing in PGA Tour Canada tournaments. When you are playing in such tournaments, it is necessary to ensure that your warm-up routine can help you remain focused both physically and mentally.
Participate in Tournaments
Also, consider participating in some regional and local golf tournaments before going on to register for PGA Tour Canada. This will ensure that you get used to the pressure of tournament play. Regardless of how good you are at golf, you have to get used to the pressure of playing in a golf tournament. Don’t forget that pressure influences the way you play your game. When you feel pressured, you barely make the most out of your birdie opportunities.
Submit Your Application Early
Also, remember to fill out and turn in your application on time. Once you have submitted your application, make sure to pay all the required fees. After that, focus on landing among the top places in the qualifying rounds. By becoming a top 25 golfer after the very tasking qualifying rounds, you will get the opportunity to play on the PGA Tour Canada.
The PGA Canada golf Tour is a professional golf tournament that features the best upcoming golfers in the world. Have it in mind that the leading five-point earners at the end of each season get status on the Korn Ferry Tour for the following season. The primary mission of PGA Tour Canada is to deliver a PGA TOUR experience to its members, fans, volunteers, and partners.

Stuart Macdonald won the Diners Club Peru Open on Sunday after carding a 1-under 71 in the final round. Macdonald climbs into the No. 3 spot in the Fortinet Cup season-long standings after securing his second career PGA TOUR-sanctioned win at Los Inkas Golf Club.
This is the second time that Macdonald has been victorious in Peru. As an amateur, the Vancouver native won the 29th Lima Golf Club International Amateur Championship in 2017. Macdonald is the first Canadian to win the Diners Club Peru Open since it became a PGA TOUR Sanctioned event in 2012.
Prior to 2024, Macdonald was one of the most consistent performers on PGA TOUR Latinoamerica in 2023. Macdonald did not miss the cut and only finished outside of the top-25 once in eight starts, including a T14 finish at the 2023 Diners Club Peru Open.
Macdonald carried that momentum to PGA TOUR Canada in 2023. In six starts, Macdonald finished with three top-20 finishes and only missed the cut once. Macdonald’s best finish came at the 2023 Commissionaires Ottawa Open, where he defeated Devon Bling and Luke Schniederjans in a playoff to claim his first PGA TOUR-sanctioned win. Macdonald picked up a second top-five finish at the 2023 Windsor Championship, where he finished T2.
Prior to turning professional in 2017, the Vancouver native starred at Purdue University from 2012-16. Macdonald ended his career with the 14th-best scoring average in Purdue program history and finished fourth on the team in top-10s his senior year with four.
Macdonald is expected to be in the field at the Kia Open, the fifth event of the Latin America Swing, which will be hosted at the Quito Tenis y Golf Club from May 2-5 in Quito, Ecuador.

This byron nelson high grad fueled his dream of playing the pga tour at the byron nelson. now he's teeing it up this week, share this article.
McKINNEY, Texas – Hayden Springer remembers coming to his hometown PGA Tour event from as early as age 5 for practice round days on Tuesday and Wednesday with an empty hat and having his dad shove him towards the pros to ask for autographs, telling him, “Don’t be afraid.”
“And I would leave and my hat would be covered in autographs from everybody,” said Springer.
That tournament, now known as the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and held at TPC Craig Ranch, was an annual rite of passage for Springer. He figures he attended the event for seven or eight years in a row and later served as a volunteer with his high school golf teammates from none other than Byron Nelson High School, where Nelson’s widow, Peggy, kept tabs on the team and showed Springer the Masters medal of one of the all-time greats. (Springer also noted that his mother and Peggy still keep in touch via email.) This week Springer, a 27-year-old rookie on the Tour, is set to play the tournament that meant so much to him during his youth for the first time.
“It’s special for me now to get to be playing in this event,” he said. “This was a dream that was in my head to play professional golf, to do it at the highest level. Definitely being able to get up close and just kind of be able to interact, even if it’s just getting an autograph, you know, it definitely helped to fuel that dream.”
Springer recalled following Tim Herron, a favorite of his father’s, having Corey Pavin jog over to sign for him the year Springer had fractured his ankle and hobbled his way, and watching past major winners Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh groove their swing on the range.
Springer’s journey to being a card-carrying member of the Tour like Nelson, who won five majors during his Hall of Fame career, has had its share of twists and turns. In November, Springer and his wife endured the death of their three-year-old daughter, Sage, to a rare genetic disorder. Earlier that summer, Springer, who played his college golf at TCU, was having another pedestrian season on PGA Tour Canada. He ranked No. 51 in the season-long standings with three events left before running off with two closing wins.
Hayden Springer watches his second shot on the 18th fairway of the PGA West Pete Dye Stadium Course during the first round of The American Express in La Quinta, Calif., on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024.
“If I don’t make that putt to make the cut in Wichita, I wasn’t even in any Canada events, right? Thinking about it, maybe I wouldn’t even have been able to play any events in Canada and maybe I’m starting at first stage of Q-School this past year. That’s a pretty tough spot to be in,” he said.
Instead, he won the Order of Merit, which earned him a spot in the final stage of PGA Tour Q-School. It also happened to be the return of five cards being up for grabs to jump straight to the big leagues. Springer hung on to finish fifth and make his dream come true.
As a rookie, Springer has made five cuts in nine starts and ranks No. 127 in the FedEx Cup point standings. His iron play was dialed in during the Puerto Rico Open and he posted four rounds in the 60s and finished T-3, his best result to date.
“There is such a fine line in terms of playing well and then not playing well,” he said.
This week, the pride of Byron Nelson High School will have a large contingent of supporters in his gallery. He grew up playing at Victory Golf Club, about 40 minutes away, and he expects members from the club and friends from high school to come out to watch him. He’s played at TPC Craig Ranch a handful of times dating to junior golf days and made a few trips this year knowing that this date with destiny would soon come to fruition at the tournament that fueled his dream.
“It’s kind of a cool story to have played at Byron Nelson High School and now to be playing in this event,” he said.
Lord Byron would be proud.

LIV Golf announces Chicago venue for individual finale
LIV Golf announced a new venue for its individual event outside of Chicago later this year.
On Tuesday Bolingbrook Golf Club was named host of LIV’s 13th event of the 2024 season. When the Saudi-backed circuit released its schedule last fall, Chicago was earmarked to receive an event, but was without a home course. Bolingbrook previously hosted a 2021 Forme Tour, the PGA Tour affiliated minor-league formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide competition for non-Canadian PGA Tour Canada members.
Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove had hosted a LIV event the past two years in the Chicagoland area.
“The passionate sports fans of Chicago have embraced the intense competition and fan-first experience that LIV Golf delivers, and this year it will be an incredible setting for a high-stakes event as players battle it out for the individual title and a roster spot for 2025,” LIV commissioner and CEO Greg Norman said in a release. “We’re thrilled to return to Illinois with an event at Bolingbrook Golf Club as we celebrate the season-long race and set the stage for the 2024 finale.”
The Bolingbrook competition will see players compete for final positions in the individual standings and the title of 2024 LIV Golf individual champion. It will also determine team seedings for the 2024 Team Championship. The location of the LIV finale has yet to be announced.
Joaquin Niemann is currently atop the individual standings six events into the season, with Jon Rahm in second and Dean Burmester third. Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers are in the lead of the team component of LIV.
