UBS Arena, home of the New York Islanders. Read our guide for info on events, tickets, parking, hotels, seating and food

By Edward de la Fuente

Our guide to UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, includes information on events, tickets, parking, public transportation, nearby hotels and restaurants, seating, food and more. Read on to find out how to get the most out of your gameday experience.

For the New York Islanders and their fans, moving into the long-awaited UBS Arena undoubtedly felt like the satisfying end to a long, arduous journey.

The franchise had been in and out of arena limbo for more than a decade, from watching their longtime home, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum , fall into disrepair, to an ill-fated move to Brooklyn and a venue in Barclays Center that was far from ideal for hockey, to a celebrated move back to the Coliseum for one last hurrah.

And now, they’ve completed the final move for what should be quite some time. In UBS Arena, the Islanders finally leveled up in terms of venue to one of the more technologically advanced arenas in the NHL.

While it also has many of the big-ticket bells and whistles we expect out of modern arenas — for example, suites at or near ice level are part of the fan experience — don’t expect the blue-collar character of the Islanders’ fan base to change.

With an exterior design heavy on brick and iron, UBS Arena is meant to evoke past sports stadiums and landmarks in New York, including Ebbets Field and Central Park.

Getting to UBS Arena

UBS Arena is located in Elmont, N.Y., next door to the Belmont Park race track. It is still technically in Nassau County — and just eight miles from Nassau Coliseum via the Hempstead Turnpike — but located much closer to New York City proper and thus closer and easier to access for a visitor to the area.

If you don’t have a car, though, it helps to know a little bit about the New York City transportation network when planning a trip to UBS Arena. For example, the NYC subway cannot be used to get to the venue.

Instead, your primary public transportation method is the Long Island Rail Road , mostly used by commuters to go from New York City proper to towns on the island. If you’re a visitor staying in Manhattan, you’ll want to make your way to Penn Station; from Brooklyn or Queens, get yourself to the Jamaica station, not far from John F. Kennedy International Airport.

From either station, use the Hempstead line heading eastbound (Note: if you’re riding from Penn Station, you might have to transfer at Jamaica) and get off at either Queens Village or Elmont. Both stations have free shuttle bus service for UBS Arena events; Elmont is just under a mile away from the arena so walking is an option.

Shuttle buses drop patrons off on the west side of UBS Arena. When leaving, be sure to note signs telling which station each bus is headed — when in doubt, ask the driver of the bus you’re about to board.

There is a closer LIRR station, Belmont Park, just past the shuttle drop-off point. This stop is currently only served by special Belmont Park-bound trains from Jamaica; expanded service is expected in future years.

Meanwhile, drivers headed to a UBS Arena event should find the approach fairly straightforward if you know a little bit about roads in the New York City metro area. The primary route is to use the Cross Island Parkway and exit at Hempstead Avenue, which puts you at the arena’s doorstep.

Parking at UBS Arena

UBS Arena utilizes most of the same parking lots that are available for Belmont Park. The nearest lots on the north side of Hempstead Avenue, as well as the South Parking lot on the other side, are reserved for premium and advance-purchase permitholders. Note that Exit 26A off the Cross Island Parkway, with signage reading “UBS Arena-Belmont Park,” leads directly into the South lot.

The Emerald lots, on the other side of the Belmont Park track, are the only parking lots for UBS Arena available for drive-up permit purchases. Entry begins at $25 depending on the event, and note that getting from the lot to UBS Arena is a good half-mile around the perimeter of Belmont Park.

UBS Arena parking permits for all lots, pending availability, can be purchased for all events via Ticketmaster .

During UBS Arena’s first season, event patrons using street parking in surrounding neighborhoods became a huge issue for nearby residents. That led to the town of Hempstead enacting measures to restrict this practice, such as ticketing cars without residential permits.

Long Island hotels near UBS Arena

The area around UBS Arena and Belmont Park is largely residential, so not many lodging options are nearby. The closest cluster of brand-name hotels can be found near JFK Airport, about 10 miles away.

•  Casa Azul Hotel Blu-JFK – 0.9 miles away •  Floral Park Motor Lodge – 1.3 miles away •  Quality Inn Queens – 3.6 miles away Search for more NYC/Long Island hotels on Booking.com .

Map of Elmont and surrounding area

Things to do around ubs arena.

Around UBS Arena itself, there isn’t much. Similar to the Islanders’ old home, Nassau Coliseum, it’s mostly residences nearby.

You’d think that would lend to Isles’ fans tradition of tailgating before games carrying over from the old place, but not so — tailgating is forbidden in UBS Arena parking lots, to the chagrin of many longtime fans .

Limited options for pregame merriment exist near the Queens Village LIRR station, as a handful of restaurants and neighborhood bars line nearby Jamaica Avenue.

But besides that and maybe taking a peek at the facilities for Belmont Park, there isn’t much to do around UBS Arena but head inside and get ready for your event.

Watching a game at UBS Arena

For Islanders fans or anyone else who remembers the cozy seating bowl at the Coliseum, UBS Arena must feel like a palace to them. It’s spacious and modern, with most of the creature comforts most of its contemporaries offer.

In some respects, that represents a departure from the old Isles fan experience. Premium spaces are everywhere at UBS Arena, including the seating areas closest to the benches and glass. As with many arena experiences, that lends itself to fans feeling detached from the game — certainly a contrast to the neighborhood gathering feel that games at the Coliseum carried.

Despite a monthlong delay in moving into the new arena (resulting in the Islanders starting the 2021-22 NHL season on a 13-game road trip ), the team has gone to some lengths to make the new place its own quickly.

The rafters look very familiar, with the same banners honoring the team’s retired numbers and its glory days of four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980-83.

The facade of UBS Arena’s upper seating bowl is adorned with fan-made banners cheering on the Isles and their players, much like you’d see at a high school rally. And murals touching on the franchise’s history adorn the concourse walls. One section is devoted to the various fan meetup groups the team has had over the years.

The northeast corner of the arena serves as the main entry, opening up to a wide lobby with a small set of stairs to climb to reach the lower-level concourse. The Islanders’ team store is in this area as well, and a large bar, the Heineken Red Star Bar, opens up to the seating bowl and gives you a first glimpse at the ice at UBS Arena.

If you’re sitting in the upper seating bowl, sight lines are still terrific, even from the 300-level seats that comprise the highest rows. You also have the benefit of looking at the state-of-the-art HD videoboard above center ice.

Certain Isles traditions continue to carry over from the old place, such as player-specific chants and songs, as well as the WWE-inspired “Yes!” chants after the Isles score a goal.

Food and drink at UBS Arena

All your food options at UBS Arena can be assessed with just a stroll around the lower concourse. Many of the concessions stands on this level are part of what’s called corner markets, essentially small food courts with numerous booths as well as grab-and-go options. There are also stands and carts around both the lower and upper concourses.

The usual sports-venue fare can be found at UBS Arena, but also distinctly unique fare like halal food from Shah’s Halal , burgers from local restaurant favorite The Harrison and sweets from Milk Bar are available. Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken (hot chicken sandwiches) also operates a stand.

Heineken is the “official beer sponsor” at UBS Arena, but you can also find selections from Coney Island Brewery and The Bronx Brewery among the alcohol selections at the various bars.

For a good drink-and-watch spot, head to the Tailgate Bar located above Sections 226-231, below the Islanders’ championship banners. It’s part of the upper concourse but there are plenty of standing tables in the area, and you have a view of the center-ice videoboard if not the far end of the ice, depending on where you’re standing.

Visiting UBS Arena is an exciting experience for anyone attending a game, concert, or event at this state-of-the-art venue. In this guide, I will share everything you need to know about entering UBS Arena smoothly and efficiently. Knowing how to navigate this impressive venue can help make your visit even more enjoyable.

Firstly, there are multiple ways to get to UBS Arena, including public transportation and car. The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has a dedicated full-time station, Elmont-UBS Arena, which is accessible from various locations. If you prefer to use buses, the MTA and NICE buses also have stops at the arena’s campus. Regular shuttles before and after events will be available to and from the Elmont-UBS Arena LIRR station, ensuring a hassle-free journey.

Besides transportation, it is crucial to know about the entrances available at UBS Arena. One of the entrances is the American Express® entrance, located on the northwest side of the venue. If you are an American Express Card Member, you can enjoy exclusive access to this entrance by simply bringing your card to the event. Stay tuned for more detailed information on other aspects of UBS Arena to further enhance your visit.

ubs arena travel

As a fan of the New York Islanders, I’m excited to share the history of UBS Arena with you! UBS Arena is a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility located in Belmont, Long Island. After the Islanders had to go back and forth between Nassau Coliseum and the Barclays Center, they finally have an arena they can truly call their own.

It all started with the Lighthouse Project and Barclays Center. Nassau Coliseum was the second-oldest facility in the NHL, only younger than the twice-renovated Madison Square Garden. It was also the second-smallest arena in the league, with only MTS Centre in Winnipeg being smaller. As a result, it was clear that a new, modern arena was needed for the Islanders to compete and grow their fan base.

The $1.1 billion project was built with four key elements in mind: location, Islanders games and events, hospitality, and a space that creates memories. UBS Arena is located next to Queens and Nassau County, making it easily accessible for fans from both areas. As an Islanders fan, I can tell you that this arena provides excellent views, stunning acoustics, architectural perfection, and advanced facilities for an unforgettable experience.

As an environmentally conscious person, I’m happy to see that UBS Arena aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2024, contributing to a better planet and the local community for decades to come. The arena also plans to bring significant economic boosts to the surrounding area.

Now that you know the history of UBS Arena, I hope you can visit the arena and enjoy a game or event in the near future. The state-of-the-art facility will leave you with lasting memories and demonstrate how an arena can truly enhance your overall experience.

Hi there! I’d like to share some key information about how to access UBS Arena and its entrances. The UBS Arena is situated in the Elmont area, and there are various ways to reach it through public transportation and by car.

In order to reach UBS Arena, you may opt to take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). With only a 30-minute direct train service from Grand Central Madison or Penn Station, you’ll arrive at the Elmont-UBS Arena Station. It’s a convenient and fast way to get to the venue. Alternatively, you can also use the LIRR service from the Hempstead, Huntington, and Ronkonkoma Branches, which stop at the Elmont-UBS Arena station every day.

For those who prefer to drive to the venue, make sure to purchase parking in advance. To access the arena, you need to exit through Cross Island Parkway Exit 26B (Hempstead Turnpike East). Do note that this access is only available for pre-paid Diamond & Silver Parking pass holders. Don’t worry, ADA parking is available for all lots.

Once you have reached the venue, there are two main entrances that you can use to enter the arena. The American Express entrance is located at the NW side, offering exclusive access for card members. Just bring your card to the event, and you’ll be able to use the dedicated American Express Card Member Entrance. On the other hand, the BMW VIP Entrance can be found on the SE side of the venue, providing a VIP entrance experience.

I hope this information helps make your visit to UBS Arena smooth and enjoyable.

Accessibility Entrance

I’ve discovered that UBS Arena is highly dedicated to providing an enjoyable experience to all guests, regardless of their abilities. They have an Accessibility Guide for detailed information on accessible services, programs, and policies. If you need additional information or assistance, you can email them or call the UBS Arena Accessibility Hotline at 516-460-8598.

VIP Entrance

For those of you with VIP tickets, the American Express® entrance is specifically designated for your entrance. It’s conveniently located at the northwest side of the venue. Keep in mind that you will need your American Express card for entry, so don’t forget to bring it with you!

General Entrance

The main entrance, also known as the Acrisure Great Hall entrance, is located at the northeast side of the venue. As you enter through this impressive entryway, you’ll be greeted by the Acrisure Great Hall, which was designed to resemble the iconic Grand Central Station. This entrance is perfect for most guests, and it’s where you’ll begin your exciting journey through the UBS Arena.

As someone who loves attending live events, I appreciate the importance of security and safety at any venue. At UBS Arena, they’ve implemented measures to ensure that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience.

First and foremost, the venue follows New York State Department of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Guests are no longer required to present proof of full vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the arena. However, if you have COVID-19, its symptoms, or know you’ve been exposed to the virus, please stay home to ensure everyone’s safety.

Before entering the arena, you might notice that there are security screening procedures in place. This is to make sure everyone can have a fun and worry-free experience. Be prepared to have your bags checked and walk through metal detectors to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

For everyone’s safety, there is a list of prohibited items that are not allowed inside UBS Arena. Some of these items include:

  • Outside food and beverages
  • Large bags or backpacks
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Selfie sticks, tripods, and monopods
  • Drones or other remote-controlled devices

It’s essential to familiarize yourself with the complete list of prohibited items before arriving at the venue to avoid any issues or delays at the entrance.

In addition to these safety measures, UBS Arena has dedicated staff working on maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of the venue. They regularly clean all high-touch surfaces and restrooms to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure a healthy environment for everyone.

While attending any event at UBS Arena, don’t hesitate to approach a staff member if you have any concerns or require assistance. The team is there to help you enjoy the event and make it a safe and unforgettable experience for all.

Gate Opening Times

I have gathered some important information about the gate opening times at UBS Arena. For most events, the gates typically open 60 minutes before the start of the event. For sporting events, like New York Islanders games, they generally open the gates 90 minutes prior to the start. It’s a good idea to arrive early to ensure a smooth entry into the arena.

Ticket Scanning

When attending an event at UBS Arena, make sure to have your ticket ready for scanning. If you purchased your tickets through Ticketmaster, you’ll receive an email before the event with all the necessary information. Don’t forget to bring a valid ID and, if necessary, proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results, as they may be required for admission. Here’s a quick rundown of the ticket scanning process:

  • Tickets can be presented either as a print-at-home ticket or a mobile ticket on your smartphone.
  • Look for the designated ticket scanning lanes at the entrance.
  • Have your ID and other necessary documents ready for inspection.

In conclusion, by arriving early and having your ticket and documents ready for scanning, you’ll ensure a smooth and stress-free entry into the UBS Arena. Enjoy the event!

Food and Beverage

At UBS Arena, I discovered a variety of food and beverage options to satisfy any craving. From classic stadium favourites like hot dogs and popcorn to more unique offerings like artisanal sandwiches and premium craft beers, there’s something for everyone.

Some of the food and beverage outlets I noticed during my visit include:

Main Concourse and Upper Bowl

  • Burgers, fries, and other snack options
  • A selection of hot and cold beverages, including beer and soda

Premium Spaces

  • Fine dining experience with upscale menu options
  • An extensive wine list and signature cocktails available

Throughout my time at the arena, I found plenty of clean and well-maintained restrooms available on all levels. They also offer accessible restrooms and all-gender restrooms to accommodate every guest’s needs. Moreover, there are baby changing stations in select restrooms for those attending events with their little ones.

First Aid Centers

During my visit to UBS Arena, I noticed well-marked first aid centers staffed with trained medical personnel. These centers are equipped to handle minor medical issues and emergencies that may arise during events. If you ever need assistance, simply look for staff or signage directing you to the nearest first aid center.

Lost and Found

In case you lose any personal items during your visit, UBS Arena offers a lost and found service. I learned that you can report any missing items to event staff or visit the Guest Services booth for assistance. They will help you locate your belongings and ensure you leave the event with everything you came with.

ubs arena travel

As a frequent visitor to the UBS Arena, I’m happy to share my experience and knowledge about the seating options available at this fantastic venue. The arena offers a wide range of seating sections and different levels of comfort to choose from, ensuring a great view and enjoyable time for everyone.

When it comes to club seats and premium areas, the Dime Club and Hyundai Club stand out. The Dime Club is located near center ice, providing an excellent view of the game. It also comes with all-inclusive perks, making it a top choice for a luxury experience. On the other hand, the Hyundai Club is a unique seating option in the lower level, offering its own set of benefits.

Aside from premium seating, the arena features various sections throughout the venue. For example, Section 329 is known for its fantastic view of the ice and is a popular choice among fans. With an interactive seating chart available online, you can have a look at the different sections and find the perfect spot that suits your preferences.

While attending an event, you’ll notice that UBS Arena has made accessibility a priority. There are multiple entrances to the venue, such as the Main Entrance (Acrisure Great Hall) located at the NE side and the American Express® entrance at the NW side. You can also reach the arena easily via public transportation like the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) at the Elmont-UBS Arena station.

So, there you have it! My brief guide to finding your perfect seat at UBS Arena. I hope this information will help make your next event experience at the arena even better. Enjoy!

I recently discovered this new and magnificent UBS Arena, which is truly a world-class venue for various special events and concerts. Located in Belmont Park, Long Island, NY, it has a remarkable lineup of performances that would definitely make you want to mark your calendars.

Some of the upcoming events at UBS Arena include Aerosmith’s “PEACE OUT The Farewell Tour” with The Black Crowes on September 9, 2023. Another amazing performance to look forward to is Andre Rieu on September 17, 2023. Fans of classic rock can’t miss out on the Eagles’ “The Long Goodbye” show on September 20, 2023. There are many more amazing artists and events scheduled, so make sure to check the UBS Arena website for the full lineup.

In addition to concerts, the UBS Arena also hosts various events, such as a hiring fair that’s free and open to the public on September 11, 2023. It might be a great opportunity for job seekers or people looking to network.

Getting to the UBS Arena is quite convenient as regular shuttles are available before and after events. They operate between Elmont-UBS Arena LIRR Station, just a 5-minute trip away. Moreover, direct service from Grand Central Madison to Elmont-UBS Arena Station is also available, making it easy for people coming from different parts of the city.

So, if you’re looking for a great night out with your friends or if you’re a fan of live music and entertainment, you should definitely consider visiting the UBS Arena. With its amazing lineup and comfortable amenities, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy and make unforgettable memories.

I had a fantastic time exploring the UBS Arena! The two main entrances that I noticed were the AMEX Entrance and the BMW VIP Entrance . The AMEX Entrance, located on the northwest side, offers a dedicated entrance for American Express card members. On the southeast side of the venue, there’s the BMW VIP Entrance for VIP ticket holders.

Getting to UBS Arena was pretty convenient. I took the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) which had a direct 30-minute train service to the Elmont-UBS Arena Station from Grand Central Madison and Penn Station. For those planning to drive, I recommend purchasing parking in advance and checking the right Cross Island Parkway exit to access the parking area.

While I was there, I noticed that the arena had a massive, high-resolution scoreboard, which was four times larger than the one at Nassau Coliseum and the largest in the state. The arena’s on-ice projection capabilities were also impressive, similar to those at T-Mobile Arena.

So, if you’re planning a visit to UBS Arena, remember to check your email for key event information and plan your trip with ease. Embrace the beautiful venue, enjoy the state-of-the-art scoreboard and projections, and most importantly, have a great time!

Great American Media Announces 'Immersive' Christmas Festival Featuring Actor Meet & Greets

Christmas movie fans will be able to visit the live entertainment village at New York's UBS Arena this winter from Nov. 20 to Jan. 5

Great American Family fans can now experience a Christmas celebration like the ones featured in so many of the channel's TV movies — and meet some of their favorite stars.

In an announcement shared on Friday, July 19, Great American Media announced that it would be hosting the "Great American Family Christmas Festival" this winter, in celebration of its fans, its Christmas films and its biggest stars.

According to a press release from the company, the festival — which is being held in partnership with the UBS Arena, the NHL's New York Islanders and CandyRock Entertainment (headed up by its CEO, Bill Abbott, and former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure ) — will take place from Nov. 20 to Jan. 5 this winter at the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y., just outside of New York City.

"We all look forward to the holidays as a time to be together with our families and make new  memories," Bure said in the press release. "And it is what this Christmas Festival is all about. We're so happy to give families a new opportunity to experience joy, play together, and celebrate this season."

Great American Media added that the festival's activities will include movie premieres, shopping, food and drink, photo ops that they say are "TikTok-worthy," and even meet-and-greets with the stars of some of the network's most popular movies. Also included are a nightly tree-lighting ceremony, "Santa's Crafting Village" and live entertainment.

"Over the past decade, my team and I have envisioned a Christmas Festival that will attract people from far and wide and offer fans a chance to meet the stars of our movies and immerse themselves in a one-of-a-kind festive experience," Abbott added in the release.

"Between Islanders Ownership, who have an unparalleled commitment to the guest experience at UBS Arena, our Chief Creative Officer Candace Cameron Bure and her team at CandyRock Entertainment, and our terrific roster of talent, this partnership is poised to deliver the nation's premier holiday event, not just this year, but for many seasons to come," he continued.

Great American Family has been a top competitor against the Hallmark Channel — and its many Christmas movies and themed cruises — since its launch in 2021. That year, the network announced that several of its stars including Danica McKellar ,  Trevor Donovan , Lori Loughlin and Bure would be leaving Hallmark and signing deals with them instead. Since then, the network has produced dozens of Christmas and family movies, and this festival marks its first venture into live entertainment.

To assure fans' safety during these uncertain times, all tickets are subject to restrictions and requirements put in place by venues, teams, or government authorities as it pertains to social distancing, wearing personal protective gear or similar measures. If the event is held without fans, you will receive a refund as if the event were cancelled.

Since tickets are a one-of-a-kind item and not replaceable, there are no refunds, exchanges or cancellations. If an event is postponed or rescheduled, tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. Events that are cancelled by organizers without being rescheduled are eligible for a full refund based on our Money-Back Guarantee. In these cases, we will process a refund and return the sale amount already incurred to the purchasing credit card. You will receive an email if your event is cancelled with options provided to complete the process online.
