Undergraduate Visits

We are also offering virtual information sessions and campus tours, admission workshops, academic overviews, student panels and special academic presentations that explore various topics. Hofstra Travel Update
As part of Hofstra’s response to COVID-19, our admission counselors will not be traveling until further notice. However, we are pleased to offer a variety of in-person visit opportunities and virtual events that allow you to tour our beautiful campus and get to know us better. We will notify you via email with any changes to our travel plans, and we encourage you to visit hofstra.edu/safestart for the most up-to-date information on our COVID-19 response.
Campus Tours
Hofstra University is offering a very limited number of campus tours at this time. Reservations are required . Walk-in tours will not be available.
The most important thing each of us can do to ensure a successful visit is follow the University’s health and safety requirements, which include mask-wearing and maintaining a physical distance of at least six feet whenever possible. Visitors, who are visiting New York for more than 24 hours, from areas outside the contiguous states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont, must adhere to the New York State Travel Advisory . Being a part of the Hofstra Pride is a responsibility, and we expect every member of the community and our visitors to do their part to keep all of us safe by following the guidelines outlined at hofstra.edu/safestart . Upon arrival, all visitors must complete the mandatory health screening . If you answer yes to any question in the screening, you will not be permitted on the Hofstra campus.
Guided Campus Tour *
Take a campus tour with one of our Pride Guides (student tour guides) in small groups of two to three families as we guide you through Hofstra's campus!
Highlights of our information session will be emailed to you ahead of your visit. Upon arrival, you'll tour campus with one of our Pride Guides (student tour guides). During your campus tour, Pride Guides will point out to you Hofstra’s Student Center, Axinn Library, and many of the academic facilities available to undergraduate students. Combined, this visit will help you discover if Hofstra is a place you can call home.
Please note your tour will be an outdoor walking tour. Residence halls will not be available as part of your tour. We will use virtual options to show you these spaces. We will be able to show the inside of buildings during all tours in January . During the spring semester, we will only be able to show the inside of buildings on weekday afternoons and during all tours on Saturdays and Sundays – when classes are not in session. During other tour times, we will use virtual options to show you these spaces.
Self-Guided Tour *
During your self-guided campus tour you will be given a campus visit brochure that includes a self-guided tour map on the back. Scan the QR code on the map to pair your outdoor walking tour with an audio tour and multimedia to peruse at each building. Along the way you will have the opportunity to view Hofstra’s Student Center, Axinn Library, and many of the academic facilities available to undergraduate students. Please note that you will not be able to enter buildings during your tour.
Virtual Information Session and Live Tour
Visit Hofstra from wherever you are in the world! Your visit will begin with a virtual information session and an introduction to academic life at Hofstra. Next you'll take a live virtual tour of campus with one of our Pride Guides (student tour guides). During the live virtual tour, you will have the opportunity to experience Hofstra’s Student Center, a residential hall and many of the academic facilities available to undergraduate students. Combined, this visit will help you discover if Hofstra is a place you can call home.
Admission Workshops
To make you college search a little easier, we are offering a series of virtual workshops to assist you and your family. Some topics are broad like “Building Your College List” and others are Hofstra focused like “Hofstra’s Standardized Testing Policy.”

Virtual College For A Day
Attend a mock class at Hofstra! Each 30-minute virtual class will be led by a professor and be joined by a current Hofstra student as well as several prospective students just like you. You will get to participate in the class discussion and get a feeling for what Hofstra's classes are really like.

- Virtual College for A Day: Computer Science Course Wednesday, November 11 at 12 p.m. EST Professor Fu will give an overview of his Ethical Hacking course and give a demo of ethical hacking experiments (gaining administrator privilege on vulnerable web applications and operating systems)
- Virtual College For A Day: Film Course Wednesday, November 11 at 12 p.m. EST Professor Hill will discuss Stanley Kubrick and his “trilogy” of science-fiction films; Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The discussion will focus on 2001 as both a cautionary tale about the over-reliance on technology as well as an optimistic musing on the potentially transcendent future of humanity.
- Virtual College For A Day: Journalism Course Wednesday, November 11 at 12 p.m. EST Professor Gonzalez will discuss the elements of visual grammar (B-Roll, SOTs, Natural Sound, etc.) as well as a tutorial on how to use Adobe Premiere to edit video.
- Virtual College For A Day: Music Course Wednesday, November 11 at 12:30 p.m. EST Professor Glaser will take a look at some of the unique challenges that musicians face when working with a team of others, and briefly explores the range of “tools” – musical and otherwise – that one needs to make music in a group setting.
- Virtual College for A Day: Biology Course Wednesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. EST Professor Daniel will explore the topic of "Could hypertension drugs affect COVID-19 severity?".
- Virtual College For A Day: Drama Course Wednesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. EST Professor Henderson will discuss "The History of Pants!", a brief tour of trousers from the drama department’s History of Clothing course.
- Virtual College For A Day: Engineering Course Wednesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. EST Professor Segal will discuss how engineers can design and build new works looking at older structures while also looking at scientific, social, and symbolic aspects of the structures that surround us.
- Virtual College For A Day: Psychology Course Wednesday, November 11 at 1 p.m. EST Professor Novak will discuss flight or fight in response to stress and will highlight the different physiological underpinnings to each of these reactions. She share how each can be an adaptive response, depending on the situation, as well as share some tips on ways to cope with stress.
- Virtual College For A Day: Speech Language Hearing Science Course Wednesday, November 11 at 1:30 p.m. EST Professor Case will discuss how moving your mouth can impact your speech.
- Virtual College For A Day: Political Science Course Wednesday, November 11 at 2 p.m. EST Professor Feldman will discuss the history and importance of televised presidential debates in American history from Nixon-Kennedy to Trump-Biden.
- Virtual College For A Day: Education Course Wednesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. EST Professor Singer will discuss making sense of the election results and trying to understand their implications for the future of the United States .
- Virtual College For A Day: Physician Assistant Course Wednesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. EST Professor L'Epplattenier will be discussing the topic of Physical Examinations and Diagnostic Modalities .
- Virtual College For A Day: Honors College Course Wednesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. EST Dean Frisina will draw upon material currently being studied in first year honors college classes including 3 thinkers who offer very different views on the good life: Confucius, Plato, and Lucretius. Everyone wants to live a “good life.” But the question is how? What makes life meaningful and rewarding? Is it family, friends, career success, financial security, all of the above?
- Virtual College for A Day: Nursing Course Wednesday, November 11 at 4 p.m. EST Professor Mcleod-Sordjan will be discussing the current COVID pandemic and educating the public on influenza vaccination.

Join this virtual information session to learn all about Hofstra's 4+4 BS-BA/MD Program. Students in this highly selective program enjoy a traditional four-year college experience. Contingent upon fulfilling all premedical course requirements, those who are in this program are encouraged to select any of Hofstra’s approximately 165 undergraduate majors. Upon earning a bachelor’s degree, students in the BS-BA/MD program will automatically matriculate at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Receive an admission decision and credit evaluation, meet with an academic advising dean and register for classes at Hofstra. Transfer Days will be offered virtually until an in-person alternative is available.
These scheduled appointments are for admitted and deposited students. At this event you can receive a credit evaluation (don’t forget your transcripts!), meet with an academic advising dean to build your schedule, and ultimately enroll for the upcoming semester. During your visit you can also tour campus and speak to a Student Financial Services representative.

The Hofstra Cheerleading program is currently comprised of one nationally recognized co-ed squad. The squad promotes school spirit for the University's athletic teams, such as the men's and women's basketball teams. Cheer performances are also requested at university festivals and admission events. See when tryouts will be held .
An audition is required for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. Additionally, students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in dance will audition for placement in technique classes, and to determine Activity Grant awards. Get more information .
The Hofstra University Dance Team is an exciting and competitive collegiate dance team that performs at university athletic events as well as other events held on and off campus. See when tryouts will be held .
A portfolio review is required for students interested in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in production. Additionally, students interesting in pursuing a BFA in performance or Bachelor’s degree (BA) in theater arts will audition to determine initial offerings of Activity Grants to first-year students. All students wishing to declare a major in Music Performance, Music Merchandising, Music Education, Music Theory/Composition, Jazz and Commercial Music, or Music History/Literature must audition for acceptance into these programs . Get more information .

Hofstra is a fully engaged member of the Long Island community. Hofstra’s Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency and the Peter S. Kalikow Chair in Presidential Studies make Hofstra one of a very few institutions in the country with a unique focus on the presidency. The Center holds annual conferences and symposia devoted to analyzing critical issues regarding the American presidency by bringing together, from around the nation and the world, leading scholars, political practitioners, and journalists.
