Honeymoon safari

Planning the ultimate romantic getaway? A honeymoon safari in Kenya offers an unparalleled blend of adventure and intimacy. This blog focuses on five romantic safari destinations in Kenya that promise to make your honeymoon safari an unforgettable experience. From the Maasai Mara’s untamed beauty to the tranquil beaches of Diani, Kenya is the ultimate honeymoon safari destination.

Why Choose Kenya for Your Honeymoon Safari

Kenya is a land of diverse landscapes and rich cultures, making it an ideal destination for honeymoon safaris. From the savannahs of Maasai Mara to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, the country offers a unique blend of adventure and romance. Campo EA Safaris, a trusted provider, offers various packages to suit your romantic needs, ensuring your honeymoon safari is nothing short of magical.

1. Maasai Mara: The Epitome of African Wilderness for Your Honeymoon Safari

Why maasai mara is unbeatable.

Maasai Mara is not just another safari destination; it’s a world-renowned reserve that offers a blend of adventure, natural beauty, and luxury, making it the ultimate choice for your honeymoon safari. The reserve is located in Narok County, Western Kenya, and connects to the Serengeti in Tanzania. The Maasai Mara is often referred to simply as “The Mara,” a name derived from the local Maasai language meaning “spotted,” which aptly describes the short bushy vegetation that dots the landscape.

The Great Migration: A Natural Wonder

One of the most awe-inspiring phenomena you can witness here is the Great Wildebeest Migration, which has earned the Maasai Mara a spot as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Imagine sharing the breathtaking experience of watching massive herds of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River, all from the comfort of your luxury-tented camp.

Big Five and Beyond

The Maasai Mara is home to the Big Five—Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards, and Cape Buffalo. But it’s not just about ticking off a wildlife checklist; it’s about experiencing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Whether it’s the thrill of a lion hunt or the grace of a leopard lounging in a tree, these are moments that will make your honeymoon safari unforgettable.

Luxury in the Wilderness

Campo EA Safaris offers a 3-Day Visit to Maasai Mara in a Luxury Tented Camp that includes two nights of full-board accommodation at the Zebra Plains Mara Luxury Tented Camp. The package includes park entrance fees, transport in a tour Landcruiser, and meals. This isn’t just a trip; it’s a curated luxury experience set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most stunning natural landscapes.

Unique Activities to Elevate Your Experience

Your honeymoon safari in Maasai Mara can be as adventurous or as relaxed as you want it to be. The package offers optional activities like hot air balloon rides, visits to Maasai villages, and even horse riding. Each of these activities offers a unique perspective of the Maasai Mara, making your honeymoon not just a trip, but a rich tapestry of unforgettable experiences.

2. Amboseli: At the Foot of Mount Kilimanjaro

The majestic backdrop of mount kilimanjaro.

Amboseli National Park is renowned for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. This backdrop provides an unparalleled romantic setting, making Amboseli a top choice for honeymoon safaris. Imagine waking up to the sight of the snow-capped peak, a spectacle that adds a touch of magic to your romantic getaway.

An Elephant’s Paradise

Amboseli is often referred to as the ‘Land of Giants’ due to its large elephant population. The Amboseli 3 Days package by Campo EA Safaris offers you the chance to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Witnessing these gentle giants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro is a sight you and your partner will cherish forever.

Luxury Amidst Nature

Campo EA Safaris ensures that your stay is as comfortable as it is adventurous. The package includes full-board accommodation at the Amboseli Serena Lodge, renowned for its luxury and hospitality. After a day of game drives and nature walks, you can unwind in a setting that combines modern amenities with traditional African charm.

A Well-Crafted Itinerary

The package offers a well-thought-out itinerary that includes multiple game drives and relaxation time at the lodge. On the first day, you’ll depart from Nairobi and arrive at Amboseli Serena Lodge for a buffet lunch, followed by an evening game drive. The second day offers an early morning game drive and an optional visit to a Maasai village. The final day provides one last opportunity for a game drive before heading back to Nairobi.

Activities Tailored for Romance

In addition to game drives, the package offers optional activities that can make your honeymoon safari even more special. Whether visiting a Maasai village to immerse yourselves in local culture or a romantic dinner set up in the wild, each activity adds a unique layer to your honeymoon experience.

3. Ol Pejeta: A Conservation Success Story

A sanctuary of sustainable conservation.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is not just a wildlife reserve; it’s a model of sustainable conservation. Located in Laikipia County, just west of Nanyuki, the conservancy was originally a cattle ranch in colonial Kenya. Today, it stands as the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Choosing Ol Pejeta for your honeymoon safari means you’re also supporting sustainable conservation efforts, a noble cause to begin your life together.

The Last Northern White Rhinos

Ol Pejeta is the home of two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos. Witnessing these rare creatures is not just a safari experience; it’s a moment of historical significance. Imagine sharing this once-in-a-lifetime experience with your partner, an experience that you won’t forget anytime soon.

A Rich Tapestry of Wildlife

In addition to its rhino population, Ol Pejeta has one of the highest numbers of predators per square kilometer. The conservancy also hosts the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees. The diversity of wildlife makes every game drive an adventure, adding layers of excitement to your honeymoon safari.

Luxury and Comfort

The 2-Day Visit to Ol Pejeta Conservancy package by Campo EA Safaris includes one-night full-board accommodation at the best resorts money can buy. The package includes transport in a tour Landcruiser, game drives, and park entrance fees. After a day of adventure, you can unwind in a luxurious setting, making your honeymoon safari both thrilling and comfortable.

Activities Beyond Game Drives

The package also includes an afternoon hike to Mt. Kenya up to Ol Moses Point on day one. This offers a different kind of adventure, allowing you to experience the natural beauty of Laikipia and Mount Kenya. It’s an opportunity to add a touch of adventure to your romantic getaway.

Fatu Nothern White Rhino

Kenya honeymoon planning with the experts

The home of the luxury safari since it all began, Kenya still today evokes the image of a timeless safari, reminiscent of a bygone era. A honeymoon in Kenya will be an experience to remember, with a lingering atmosphere of the classic Out of Africa safari romance.

Kenya Honeymoon itinerary planning

What are the most romantic lodges in kenya.

In the North, far from the madding crowds, Borana (Lewa Downs) is a charming and timeless owner-run lodge. We would particularly recommended it if you enjoy horse riding. Joy’s Camp (Samburu) is set around a waterhole, offering you the chance to stay in bed and not feel guilty – the wildlife will come to you! It’s a fabulous luxury tented camp with experienced staff who know how to look after honeymooners. In the south, the Greater Mara (outside the Mara Reserve) is home to Alex Walkers Serian and Bateleur Camp which both have private game viewing areas and can dip into the Mara itself if they choose. This way, you get the best of the Mara wildlife without lots of vehicles buzzing around your sightings. Serian is particularly remote and might take many out of their comfort zone with their laid back dedication to the best safari experiences out there - but absolutely worth it, in our opinion. We also have a lot of time for the bygone era romance of Cottar’s 1920’s Camp . It gets more difficult to find areas away from the crowds in the Mara Reserve, but Naibor is a well-managed and presented camp, and Rekero has the romantic views overlooking the huge African landscape (don’t get married in April or May, though, as the camp is closed!).

Kenya Luxury vs Kenya Adventure Honeymoon

The amount of different ways to explore Kenya is astonishing and there is no right or wrong way - it is totally dependent on the type of experience that you want. From the thrill of hiking in the Samburu Mountains and quad biking in Laikipia, to relaxing next to your plunge pool in one of the Mara’s hyper-luxury safari lodges, Kenya has it all. That is not to say that a luxury trip can’t also be adventurous; the joy of a tailor made honeymoon in Kenya is that you can combine all of the elements which appeal to you into one amazing and unforgettable trip. You can enjoy pretty much anything here; cultural experiences, horse riding, walking, game drives, night drives, quad biking, hot-air ballooning, fishing, boating (and the list goes on!).If you have a specialist interest then just give us a call and we will point you in the right direction.

Kenya safari and beach honeymoon packages

Kenya is one of the best destinations to combine a brilliant safari with an idyllic stay on the beach. The Indian Ocean coastline spans the entire Eastern length of Kenya, and dotted up and down are some beautiful beaches. As well as Kenya's own mainland beaches such as the white sands of Diani Beach , and the historic and charming Lamu, it is also now very easy to combine a Kenyan safari with the colourful island of Zanzibar . Flights link so well that you can get from your safari in the Masai Mara to Zanzibar in just a few hours. Kenya safaris can also be combined with the islands of the Seychelles , Mauritius, and the northern beaches of Mozambique - though, we would really recommend staying close to your safari to avoid wasting time and budget on something which is just as brilliant on your doorstep!

Why go on a Kenya safari honeymoon?

Infrastructure: Kenya has the whole honeymoon sewn up – excellent game-viewing and fabulous beaches. A romantic tented safari in the bush and a week reclining on a deserted beach? What more cold you want. Value for money: because you don’t have to fly far out of Kenya ft combine your safari with the beach, you keep the costs down - not to mention the hassle of international airports. Kenya Beaches: For those honeymooners seeking active days, there is kite-surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, mountain biking, big game fishing, sailing as well as the usual Indian Ocean world-class diving, and magical snorkelling. You are sure to be kept busy into your beach time if you wish! Easy logistics: There’s pretty much no time difference from the UK - you can fly overnight and be on safari or beach by the morning, so you don’t waste time being jet-lagged. Our US and UAE guests like to start their trip off with a few days in London for this reason. Kenya Wildlife: The Great Migration - two million wildebeest make their way into the Masai Mara from July and remain until October. Witnessing this remarkable natural spectacle on your honeymoon would be unforgettable.

How much does a Kenya Honeymoon cost?

Safari lodges in Kenya start from around $400 per person per night, for a brilliant safari in a good location - albeit with excellent but basic accommodation. This ranges all the way up to $1,800 per person per night for some of the most luxurious lodges in the whole of Africa. A ten day honeymoon in Kenya - combining a couple of safari areas with a some time on the beach - comes in at around $4,500 per person. From here, a honeymoon can go anywhere up to around $14,000 per person for the super luxurious end of the spectrum. It is worth noting, when looking at other African countries for a beach and safari honeymoon combination, this price can be considerably more given the more lengthy flights to get to that precious coastline, which Kenya has in abundance! Introducing Odyssey Explorer Welcome to our new itinerary-building app! Odyssey Explorer allows you to browse a range of popular itinerary templates and tailor them to suit your budget and tastes. Once you are happy with your route template, Odyssey Explorer gives you the freedom to select and change your accommodation in each destination. It is an excellent tool for you to get an instant price for your dream trip before you work with a Tanzania expert to fine-tune it and make it into a reality.

When to go on a Kenya honeymoon?

Kenya is in East Africa, just on the equator so it never gets too cold. The more pressing issue is actually when the rains arrive. Added rain means the wildlife isn't as concentrated, making the game viewing not as easy as when it is dry and hot. Really though, who wants a honeymoon in the rain? So stick to dry season, which at its peak is from July until October. The period from November to March is good too, but there can be a few short showers - it is a particularly good window to travel in if you want to avoid peak season rates - important when paying for an expensive wedding too! April and May should generally be avoided as this is when the heavy rains start, but there are still some places that are worth a visit and rates tend to be extremely low.

Kenya Honeymoon - Africa Odyssey Tips

A combination of two or more areas works really well to give you a varied and interesting safari experience - all are diverse and interesting in their own right. Visit a beach at the end (and even at the beginning too!) - you have to finish with a bit of relaxation! Look for smaller, boutique lodges and camps. Some of the bigger beach resorts are ok, but after an authentic and wild safari experience if you choose this style you may not enjoy it! Avoid trying to combine Eastern and Southern Africa. It is possible but the logistics waste a lot of your precious honeymoon time and money. They are better done as two trips. Always ask us about honeymoon deals - this is a big thing in Africa and can bring some of the more expensive lodges into a more affordable price bracket!

START PLANNING YOUR KENYA HONEYMOON SAFARI

Kenya is a fantastic honeymoon destination , with amazing game viewing and beautiful beaches that can be combined to create the ultimate safari and beach honeymoon. In addition to having incredible wildlife, Kenya also offers gorgeous scenery, interesting culture, varied activities and experiences and warm hospitality – all the ingredients to offer a memorable honeymoon safari.

Kenya honeymoons also tend to offer good value for money compared to other parts of Africa, and can be relatively affordable as you don’t need to spend too long on safari in order to benefit from world-class wildlife viewing.

safari honeymoon in kenya

If you are looking for a luxury Kenya honeymoon, there are plenty of boutique camps and luxury lodges to choose from, whilst for more adventurous honeymooners a variety of authentic tented camps will appeal, and activities such as walking or horse riding safaris are possible. Whatever your personal honeymoon requirements, Kenya has the places, people, wildlife and accommodation options to give you the most incredible experiences and memories.

BEST HONEYMOON DESTINATIONS IN KENYA

The Masai Mara is Kenya’s leading safari area, a spectacular region of open grassland savannah, flanked by hills and escarpments and bisected by water courses, including the Mara River. The game viewing is unbelievable, arguably the best in Africa, and the Masai Mara is home to the Great Migration from July to October each year. The Masai Mara is actually so good that four days is often enough time on safari, leaving you more time to relax on the beach, which is usually less expensive than being on safari.

safari honeymoon in kenya

However, the Masai Mara is not the only area worth visiting in Kenya. The Laikipia Region in central Kenya and Samburu/Mathews area to the north of Laikipia both offer a huge variety of different experiences, from luxury lodges and beautiful scenery to big game, walking, horse riding and fly-camping safaris. And of course, your safari can be combined with some leisurely days on the beach, soaking up the sunshine and swimming in the warm Indian Ocean, to create the ultimate safari and beach Kenya honeymoon.

MOST ROMANTIC KENYA LODGES

Many safari camps and lodges in Kenya are wonderful for a honeymoon safari, and we would generally recommend choosing properties that offer the best possible all round safari experience rather than purely a luxurious or romantic angle. However, some properties are really spectacular in terms of their location, exclusivity and romantic vibe, and would therefore be described as perfect Kenya honeymoon lodges.

The Diani area is popular and home to a number of different hotels and resorts, while further south a few more exclusive and boutique properties can be found. What Makes Kenya a Great Honeymoon Destination?

Explore arid deserts, the vibrant savannah plains, equatorial forests or snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya, before relaxing on tropical beaches and exploring the wild coral reefs around the coast.

Kenya makes for one of the most inspirational safari honeymoon destinations in Africa, with the perfect cocktail of wildlife, adventure, cities and beaches. Start with the thrill of an adventurous wildlife safari, exploring the wild plains with your very own expert guide before relaxing at your lodge at sunset as wildlife drinks from the water hole just metres away from your balcony.

What to Expect from a Kenya Honeymoon Safari

Kenya’s great infrastructure means plenty of smooth sailing, perfect for concentrating on your experience without the worry or stress. Being just 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and an 8 hour flight, Kenya is still a million years from the UK in so many respects. Very few other destinations have so much diversity in habitat and wildlife.

You can explore a whole host of different cuisines throughout your honeymoon in Kenya, from traditional Kenyan dishes to English style cooking. Many of the lodges will do an early breakfast before a game drive, with a sumptuous lunch or brunch packed to tuck into on your safari. A majority of dinners will be three courses, dependent on where you are staying. You will have the option of romantic private dinners and lunches out in the bush, or, in some places, you can dine on your balcony or in your room with the services of your very own private butler.

On beach resorts, fresh seafood and fruit is usually the specialty, and we would always recommend trying any local delicacies - it's all part of the experience.

Accommodation

On a honeymoon safari in Kenya, the accommodation choice can be a little overwhelming, so we have whittled down to some of our favourites for honeymooners, including Sasaab Camp, Mara Plains Camp, Ol Donyo Lodge and Loisaba Lodge. On the beach, we prefer to keep our honeymoon experiences as natural as possible, focussing on ‘barefoot luxury’ properties, such as the outstanding island of Funzi Keys, and the beautiful property of Msambweni House. We understand that accommodation is a huge part of any travel experience, especially your honeymoon, whether you are relaxing after a day out in the wild, or chilling after a day in the sun. And it’s not just comfort that’s important; here we will always put the location before brass taps, so sometimes you won’t even have to leave your rooms for the ultimate in wildlife viewing!

The lodges and camps you choose for your honeymoon safari are essential as they all vary in size and intimacy. It's also worth noting that some lodges and camps cater specifically to honeymoon couples with special offers and romantic arrangements that can be organised discretely prior to arrival. We'll work with you to organise everything.

Reasons to Honeymoon in Kenya

Because you are unique, you have no interest in partaking in the conventional honeymoon or anniversary celebration. On your next romantic getaway, why not do something totally new instead than simply lounging on a beach? The Bespoke African Safari Co.’s travel specialists suggest a unique Kenya safari for those seeking adventure, romance, luxury, exclusivity, and superb game watching, among other things. Our seven favorite reasons to honeymoon in Kenya are detailed here.

Wildlife Viewing

Numerous species, including many members of the Big 5 , call Kenya home. In addition, tourists can experience rare and exotic species. Picturesque Giraffe Manor in Nairobi , Kenya, home to the Rothschild giraffes, serving as your breakfast. There must be a good reason why this is among the most Instagrammed places on Earth! Giraffes will drop by twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening, to nosh at your food through the windows. For the most unforgettable honeymoon wildlife viewing experience, combine this with a safari camp in the Masai Mara to witness the big migration of 2 million wildebeest , zebras, and other species. Another option is to visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy , where you can sight the last two Northern White Rhinos.

Honeymoons and romance are perfect together, and Kenya is the perfect location for both. Indulge in a romantic picnic or bush dinner under the stars with your special someone while sampling exquisite wines and delectable cuisine. A sundowner with champagne has never made a sunset seem more appealing. Have a preference for sunrises over sunsets? Spend the night in a treehouse or star bed beneath the African sky and awaken to breathtaking views of the Masai Mara as the sun rises, or take a hot air balloon flight over the reserve .

Despite Kenya’s remoteness, you won’t have to sacrifice any of your modern conveniences. Indulge in five-star hotel-quality lodgings, including roomy, contemporary tents, instead of the more rustic camping experience. Visit a safari spa for a massage and a refreshing swim. Alternatively, following your game drive, how about a romantic bubble bath with a view of the savanna? Having a private butler service available is a great relief after a long day on safari!

Kenya is a great place for all kinds of adventures, from easy to extreme. Night game drives are an exciting new way to see wildlife, especially when you can hear lions roaring. Get out of the car and experience the Masai countryside on foot with a walking safari, ride a mountain bike through the countryside for a different perspective, or ride a camel or horse. Alternatively, you might bathe in a waterfall and stroll through a treetop canopy in the Ngare Ndare Forest. Mountain climbing on Africa’s second-highest peak, scuba diving in the stunning and abundant Indian Ocean, and boat and helicopter tours of distant Lake Turkana are all options for the daredevils among us.

If you’re looking for ways to personalize your honeymoon safari, our travel agents can help. Experiential activities like tracking animals with a Samburu tribesman or throwing spears with a Maasai warrior are great ways to learn about the local culture and form bonds with the people. Stopping by one of the several local markets in Kenya, where you can get anything from bananas to camels, is an essential part of any trip there. Because Kenyans are master bargainers, you should practice your abilities before visiting the country.

Exclusivity

When compared to other vacation spots, Kenya provides an unparalleled level of seclusion and isolation. The private conservancies in Kenya mean fewer camps and lodges and, therefore, fewer people. For the height of seclusion, passion, and social separation, we can also set up private planes, game drives, restaurants, or villas. If you’re looking for a safari in Kenya that gets you away from it all, consider a trip to one of the country’s conservancies.

Close to Other Great Destinations

There is a lot of potential for an extension in Kenya’s bordering countries. Zanzibar, Pemba, or the Seychelles are three of East Africa’s most beautiful islands, and a honeymoon there would be the perfect way to wind down. If you want to add the once-in-a-lifetime chance to trek with gorillas to your Kenya safari, you may even extend it to Rwanda or Uganda.

Planning your honeymoon safari in Kenya

The best time to visit Kenya

Depending on your interests and travel goals, there is no one ideal time to visit Kenya. Kenya has two main rainy seasons and two dry seasons that may affect outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. Generally speaking, the two dry seasons are the ideal times to visit.

The first dry season is between January and March. This is the best time to see wildlife because the weather is usually dry and nice. In national parks and reserves, animals are easier to see because of the sparser foliage. It’s a period when a lot of animals give birth, so you might be fortunate enough to view some babies!

The second dry season is between June and October. It’s thought to be the greatest time of year to go on safari and see the animals because of the pleasant weather. Furthermore, between July and August, the Maasai Mara is the site of the world-famous wildebeest migration, drawing tourists from all over the globe. The days don’t get overly hot and the weather is generally pleasant, however, it can get chilly in the mornings and evenings.

How to get to Kenya

Kenya has two main international airports: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi (JKIA) and Moi International Airport in Mombasa. JKIA has more connections to airports all around the world.

In conclusion, Kenya provides a wide range of amazing honeymoon locations to suit the aspirations of each and every couple. Kenya offers a chance for romance, adventure, and cultural immersion.

Furthermore, while Lake Nakuru displays the spectacular beauty of nature and the various fauna that Kenya is known for, Lamu Island encourages you to travel back in time and enjoy its distinct heritage. While Mount Kenya National Park offers an exciting alpine adventure, the environmentally conscious Chale Island offers a private getaway.

A starry sky over Kenya

Pros of a Honeymoon in Kenya

A trip to Kenya is the kind of bucket list trip that's meant for honeymoons. It's a popular destination for couples going on safari for the first time—and with good reason. Safaris are an excellent bonding experience. You'll spend most of your time out in nature, away from crowded cities, and the days tend to be structured around game drives, so there's very little planning required on your part.

"After planning a wedding, you don't need to wake up every day of your honeymoon and decide what to do and where you want to eat. The planning will be done—you just have to jump on board," says Elizabeth Gordon, co-founder of Extraordinary Journeys , a leading tour company that specializes in Africa. According to Gordon, many camps also offer honeymoon discounts if you travel within six months of your wedding. Another pro: most safaris are all-inclusive, with your meals and (in some cases) alcoholic beverages, daily game drives, and (some but not all) other activities factored into the room rate.

Cons of a Honeymoon in Kenya

Days on safari usually start at the crack of dawn (5 am in some cases) because that's when the animals are out and about, so if your idea of the perfect honeymoon involves sleeping in everyday, a safari might not be the best choice for you. In order to reach most safari camps and lodges, you'll need to fly into Nairobi and then take a small Cessna (sometimes called a bush plane), so if you or your spouse is afraid of flying, you might want to think twice about going on safari. Most camps are not fenced off, so precautions must be taken (after dark, you must always be accompanied by a staff member). Though you're not likely to come face to face with any wild animals, you might hear lions or leopards roaring at night.

A waterhole near the Mara River in Kenya

The dry seasons (June through October and December through February) are typically recommended for travel to Kenya. July, August, and September are the months when you're most likely to witness the Great Migration. However, as these periods are peak season, you can expect to find higher prices and more people. During the wet seasons (mid-March through May and November), you're likely to get some rain, but on the other hand, the landscape will be green and lush and you'll find lower rates and fewer people around.

Cheetah mother with kits in Kenya

It's generally quite safe to travel to Kenya, but while on safari it's crucial to abide by the camp's safety precautions. On game drives, it's imperative that you say inside the vehicle unless your guide tells you it's safe to get out. And after dark, you must be accompanied by a staff member with a flashlight and usually a firearm in case there are predatory animals around.

There are some direct flights to Nairobi from the U.S., but you're likely to have a layover in Europe or the UAE. Bigger cities like New York sometimes offer direct flights to and from the country. And once you arrive in Nairobi, that's just the starting point. To get to the safari camps and lodges, you'll most likely have to take a bush plane.

The best honeymoon spots in Kenya

Before departing for Kenya, you'll need vaccines for yellow fever, cholera, typhoid, and possibly other diseases. Depending on where you're going, you might need to take medication to prevent malaria. It's important to speak with your healthcare provider before your trip. You'll also need to apply for an e-visa in advance in order to enter the country.

Once you get there, you'll find that Kenyans speak excellent English (the country is a former British colony). The official currency is the Kenyan Shilling, but when tipping, USD is generally accepted. Kenya is on East Africa Time, which is eight hours ahead of EST.

The main reason to visit Kenya is to go on safari, but you can also experience urban life in Nairobi and relax on the beaches in places like Lamu Island. There aren't restaurants out in the bush, so you'll be eating your meals at the lodge or camp. High-end safari lodges and camps usually have their own guides and vehicles, but if you plan to visit multiple locations, it's best to work with a reputable safari operator like Extraordinary Journeys. They will handle all the details of your itinerary, including lodging and activities as well as in country transfers.

Pro tip: Invite a honeymoon planning expert to join your vendor team. Browse travel agents near you on The Knot Marketplace for Kenya honeymoon expertise, reviews, testimonials and more.

Thirty tented suites radiate out from the central pavilion, where guests gather around the fire to regale each other with stories about the day's adventures. The sleek, modern design includes many made in Africa touches. Staff organize everything from game drives to picnics in a secluded spot where some scenes in Out of Africa were filmed.

Situated along the banks of the Talek River, this tented camp by Basecamp Explorer has direct views of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Gordon recommends this five-star tented camp in the Loisaba Conservancy, a 57,000-acre wildlife conservancy in Laikipia, in northern Kenya. Set on a high plateau, Loisaba is home to Kenya's second-largest elephant population as well as northern species like Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe. The honeymoon experience includes a private candle-lit dinner under the stars, or you can go one step further and sleep under the stars in one of Loisaba's Star Beds. Guests also love the in-room massages and visits to a Samburu village.

Leopard Hill

Cozy tent accommodation in Kenya

One of Basecamp Explorer's six camps in the Maasai Mara, Leopard Hill has unique round tents inspired by Maasai homes called Manayattas. They have retractable roofs, so at the press of a button, you can reveal the starry night sky. The six tents are located in a secluded valley in the Naboisho Conservancy in the shadow of a 'Double Fig Tree' so-called because when lightning struck the tree in the 1950s, it split in two. Guests praise the knowledgeable guides as well as the staff at the communal dining area for catering to specific dietary needs and preferences.

Mara Bushtops

A gorgeous honeymoon spot at MARA BUSHTOPS | Masai Mara

The Bushtops company has just three intimate five-star safari camps in East Africa (this one and two in Tanzania) and guests rave about the friendly, attentive staff who go out of their way to make them feel welcome. The 12 luxury tents are outfitted with all the amenities you'd expect at a five-star hotel and the spa is praised as one of Africa's best. The camp is located in a private conservancy, which means that unlike at camps set inside national parks, guests have the possibility of off-roading and going on night drives.

Spot the Big Five on Safari

Two lionesses and their cubs in Kenya

Do you know what the big five are? Hint: these are the most awe-inspiring animals you can see on safari—and they were once considered the most prized animals for hunters because of how challenging and dangerous it is to hunt them. They are lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos. On daily game drives, your guide will help you spot them, in addition to plenty of other wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, antelopes, cheetahs, warthogs, hyenas, many species of birds, and maybe even wild dogs. Many safari camps have binoculars for you to borrow, but you might want to bring your own just in case.

Enjoy Nightly Sundowners

Sunset over the plains of an ideal honeymoon spot in Kenya

Sundowners are a cherished ritual at the end of the day's game drive. You might return to camp to enjoy a sundowner by the fire or your guide might stop at a scenic spot and set up a makeshift bar on the hood of the vehicle or bring you to a magical place where the camp's team has set up a bar in the middle of the bush. It's your chance to enjoy a classic Gin & Tonic, wine, or beer with some salty snacks and take in the beauty of the African landscape as you watch the sun start to set over the horizon.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride

hot air balloons over Kenya

It's worth the pre-dawn wake-up call for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, which your safari operator or camp can arrange for you. You'll warm up with hot coffee or tea and watch the balloon slowly inflate before you hop into the basket and rise high above the treetops, floating wherever the wind takes you as you gaze down at the savannah and spot animals from up high. In keeping with tradition, hot air balloon rides usually end with a Champagne toast and breakfast in the bush. It's definitely one of the most memorable experiences you can have on safari.

Learn About Maasai Culture

Sunrise over the best honeymoon spots in Kenya

The Maasai are one of more than 50 recognized native tribes in Kenya and remain one of the few that has held onto their traditions and lifestyle. A semi-nomadic tribe of herders, they're known for their bravery and can be easily recognized by their bright red robes. Many camps work with Maasai guides and some organize visits to Maasai villages or other ways for guests to interact with the Maasai. Angama Mara, for example, gives guests a chance to watch Maasai jumping contests and go on walking safaris with a naturalist Maasai guide.

Explore Nairobi

Giraffes in Masai Mara, Kenya

Most people use Nairobi as merely a jumping-off point to head out to the bush, but Gordon recommends spending a couple of nights there at the start of your trip to ease into things. In Karen, the neighborhood named after Karen Blixen, who wrote Out of Africa , you can feed giraffes at the Giraffe Center and Giraffe Center Nature Trail, shop for artisan goods at Utumaduni Shops, which brings together a variety of local vendors, and admire contemporary African sculptures at MatBronze Art Gallery, Kenya's first bronze foundry.

Pro tip: Add a Kenya honeymoon fund to your gift registry so that loved ones can gift you one of these memorable couples activities. Don't forget to post some amazing honeymoon photos to your wedding website and social feed for your guests to see.

A nighttime cozy honeymoon spot in Kenya

When going on a Kenya safari, you'll be limited to 33 pounds of luggage per person in soft-sided bags, so you'll have to pack light. "You need less than you think!" Gordon says. "You'll be able to do laundry everywhere, you don't need fancy clothes at dinner, you don't need to wear an all khaki and olive wardrobe all the time, and you don't need clunky hiking boots unless you're going somewhere with more serious focus on walking."

Do bring a warm jacket for early mornings and evenings, when it can be quite chilly. Most safari camps offer blankets when the chill sets in too. Prepare sunscreen, a hat, as well as other sun protection products and pieces as Kenya is on the equator. Other than that, focus on comfort. For more honeymoon packing tips, explore our guide .

Kenya honeymoon safari

There are several extraordinary honeymoon options leading to several destinations. There are some packages are quite cheap so that everyone gets the chance to experience the joy of having a honeymoon in Kenya and there are also some luxury packages that are best suited for a luxury couple. You can choose to visit some of the most romantic resorts or venture into the wilderness but can also do both.

What to expect during your honeymoon in Kenya

Kenya may not be a very developed nation but has got some modern infrastructure means for example luxury sailing boats which means you can expect to enjoy some of the best boat cruises on the ocean. While on land, this country has plenty to offer from its very many national parks and game reserves. It is the only country with a national park in within its capital city.

Kenya offers amazing cuisines

You can also expect to have the best meals. They do offer different cuisines ranging from the flavored Arab style cuisines, the western style kind of dishes and also the Kenyan local dishes that most foreigners find quite tasty. Most of the accommodation facilities in Kenya do provide meals to their guests, that includes breakfast often served early  every morning before guests walk out to start their days.  You can have luxurious lunches from wherever you may be and then dinners are often three course meals, sometimes it does dependent on the area you’re staying in.

Honeymooner or just couples always have that option of having romantic and private dinners or lunches setup for them on request for example you can have your dinner privately on your balcony or in your room. And if you are out somewhere in wilderness, you can get to have your lunch under some tree in the bushes.

Also expect the best accommodation facilities

This though depends on how much you are willing to spend on accommodation.  Regardless of whether it is a luxurious hotel or not, all accommodation facilities are cleans and comfortable to stay in because we do understand the huge role accommodation does play in anyone’s travel experience.  Honeymooners do deserve the best for that matter. A conducive and relaxing environment is something expected from any hotel you may choose to stay in.

The best part about Kenya is the fact that sometimes in some places, you don’t have to walk out of your hotel rooms to enjoy some game viewing. Spend your nights at a hotel like giraffe manor in Nairobi and the giraffes will find in the dining area. Some of the best hotels you can opt for include hotels like Sasaab Camp, there is also Mara Plains Camp or sleep at Ol Donyo Lodge or may be Loisaba Lodge.  If you are more interested in spending your time on the beach, you can stay at luxurious properties on islands Funzi Keys or the Msambweni House property.  With the help of local travel agents, you can make the best choice and the best memories. Hotels, lodges and camps vary in sizes and the level of intimacy.

Kenya is the second tallest in Africa after Kilimanjaro, it has snow peaks and different trails that you can follow with the help of a trained guide.  This is an adventurous exercise and exploring the wilderness as you unwind at the same time is a good idea. This is not a race and so you can go as far as you wish too. You will have plenty of time to relax from your luxurious and beautiful cottages after the walk.

Mt. Kenya has its lower slopes touching each side of the equator, which makes it pretty unique in some way. This hike starts really early in the morning just before sun rises  and  with meeting at the headquarters found on the Mountain slopes for a briefing and then later the guide will lead the way.

You can also choose to stay at you hotel relaxing by the poolside as you watch Mount Kenya’s snow-capped peak rise up from a distance.

Take a guided Nature walk in Sweetwaters Game Reserve

The perfect honeymoon safari evolved from stereotypical game hunting to various environmentally responsible activities.

You can spend a few days or weeks marveling at the magnificence of Kenyan landscapes, cultures, and cuisine. If it’s your first trip to the country, a bit of help goes a long way, which explains this post. We put together a few elementals about Kenyan honeymoon tours to ease some of the stress of planning this special getaway. Keep reading to learn about the best travel ideas for you and your other half.

Beach Holidays

A lot of people think of sun, sand, and refreshing drinks when talking about honeymoons. Although it might not look like it, beach getaways are not cliché. In fact, they are timeless. The trick is finding a destination that gives you everything you want from a romantic getaway. Do you prefer a quiet or busy location? Are water sports part of the itinerary? Do you intend to spend your days being pampered or hopping from one attraction to another? Beach holidays in Kenya come in all styles.

Diani, located in Kwale County, is a top-tier location – Africa’s best beach location five years running since 2015. It promises clear, turquoise waters, powdery sandy shorelines, and excellent weather all year round. Stay at some of the top resorts in Kenya like the Swahili Beach Resort, Diani Reef, and the Sands at Nomad.

Two hours from Mombasa is Malindi, perfect for an activity-filled holiday. It’s a city steeped in history going back to the 1500s. So, the seaside town offers plenty to see. Your trip can include hiking in the Mara Depression, a beautiful natural rock formation. The Malindi Marine National Park is a must-see as well. It features rich aquatic life, ranging from corals to sea urchins.

The park is famous for glass-bottom boat rides that grant dramatic views of oceanic life. Alternatively, you can go snorkeling, water skiing, or windsurfing. The Villa Ameera, Sandies Malindi Dream Garden, and White Elephant Sea Lodge are some leading accommodation options.

From Malindi, or instead of, head to Watamu. The national park in this small coastal townhouses different turtle and fish species. For more adventure, visit the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Reserve. The reserve is home to a small elephant population and is perfect for bird watching.

Adventure Tours

What if you prefer a bit of adrenaline during your honeymoon? Then Kenya has some interesting alternatives for adventure safaris. For an ambitious couple, hiking Mt. Kenya is a good way to test your endurance, both physically and emotionally. It’s quite a unique way of starting your life as a married couple. The hike can be treacherous, especially for beginners. Mt. Kenya climbing tours also let you discover the striking scenery in the central highlands. Since the mountain is in the national park, you get to see the impressive flora and fauna populating the area.

If you want an off-the-beaten-track experience, then northern Kenya is it. Turkana is particularly enchanting. The crocodile-infested Lake Turkana supports diverse vegetation and animals. You can sight hippos and water turtles at the largest alkaline lake in the world.

Bird watchers have more than enough to capture their attention at L. Turkana. Visit the Central Island National Park to see the region’s wildlife offerings. Take a boat ride at Ferguson Gulf, and maybe go fishing.

Eliye Springs adds a coastal feel to your adventure safari. Lounge on the sandy beach while sipping chilled champagne with your companion. The remote nature of the resort makes it the perfect spot for an off-the-grid honeymoon.

Samburu is another gem awaiting your discovery. The county is a mixture of a rich heritage and incredible wildlife. See reticulated giraffes, beisa oryx, and the Big Five at the Samburu National Reserve. Explore the villages to learn the local culture as you interact with the different communities in the region.

Bush Safaris – Dream Honeymoon Safari

Picture a candlelit dinner in the wild with sounds of different animals in the distance. Think of breakfasting under a glorious sunrise before a fun-filled day of sightseeing. Nature-loving romantics will love Kenyan bush tours. You get to spend time admiring some of the best natural wonders with your life partner.

The Masai Mara is a premier destination for a bush honeymoon. If you can plan your trip to coincide with the Great Migration, that would be superb. It’s an opportunity to observe one of the greatest spectacles on earth. However, don’t limit yourself because Mara has so much more to offer. Olarro Plains, Mara Plains Camp, and Eagle View are some top accommodations.

Amboseli National Park is the epitome of a picturesque bush holiday. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, honeymooners can experience life-changing adventures. Explore the vast savannah plains that are home to about 1500 elephants. Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, Tortilis Camp, and Ameg Lodge Kilimanjaro are a few ideas for romantic accommodation at the Amboseli.

Tsavo is another world-class bush holiday destination. Covering Kenya’s largest protected area, Tsavo East and West provides a habitat for several large mammals, including the Big Five. If you are more interested in photo-worthy vistas, then stick to Tsavo West. Make a point to see both parks, though. You won’t regret it.

The perfect honeymoon means different things to various couples. So, decide what works for you, then take the time to browse through the top destinations in Kenya. Whether it’s the beach or the bush, count on finding a trip that satisfies your desires.

Newlyweds have many reasons to visit Kenya, the principal being the diversity of the region. Regardless of how divergent your tastes are, you can be confident about finding a compromise when it comes to a honeymoon destination. Once you decide what works for you, then you can proceed to organize a unique getaway. Our tips for planning a honeymoon safari should help you come up with a trip for the ages.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect the local culture and customs. Dress modestly in rural areas and while visiting local communities. Learn about local customs and etiquette.
  • Emergency Contacts: Keep a list of emergency contacts, including your country’s embassy or consulate in Kenya, local emergency numbers, and your accommodation’s contact information.

Kenya Safari Honeymoon Destination #2 - Elsa’s Kopje

Nothing spells fun and romance like a luxury Kenya honeymoon at Elsa’s Kopje Meru. This camp is as rich in history as it is beautiful and is unquestionably one of the best places for a honeymoon in Kenya.

The resort is sculpted into Mughwango Hill, just above George Adamson’s original camp, where he, Adamson, raised lions and released them into the wild when they were old enough to cope. Back then, conservation was not as fashionable as today, so Adamson did it out of love for wildlife.

The camp itself sits in 215,000 acres of land overlooking the spectacular Meru National Park – which has the highest diversity of wild animals in East Africa. Meru National Park also has a rhino sanctuary and over 300 bird species.

Wake up to a breathtaking African sunrise with Mount Kenya in the background. Cuddle, sleep and repeat in the camp’s luxurious rooms. Enjoy splendid views from the comfort of your balcony. And enjoy romantic dinners or raunchy sessions assured of the exclusivity of your secluded cottage.

Getting Started

While the northern side of Kenya has some of the most untouched wildlife in Africa, the rich array of species in the many national parks and game reserves, like the Masai Mara and Lake Naivasha , makes it perfect for first-time safari-going honeymooners. In addition to the exciting perks that come from a safari, comes the coastlines that boast some brilliant beaches where you can dive and fish. The joy of honeymooning in Kenya natural wilderness is that it is serene and secluded, giving you and your spouse a lot of private time, plus the extraordinary wealth of activities inland and along the coast works well for honeymooners who seek adventure and nurture the idea of a wild honeymoon in Kenya. Some amazing couple activities worth considering include:

Game Drives

safari honeymoon in kenya

Game drives give you and your spouse the opportunity to explore the wild at its best. They are mostly held in the cooler parts of the day, usually in the early morning between 6:30 and 9:30 and late afternoon between 3:30 and 6:30. Waking up early in the morning, honeymooners can go for a morning drive, return to their lodges or camps for a late breakfast, and in the late afternoon, enjoy another round of game drive in search of wildlife. Honeymooners cruise in a safari 4×4 vehicle with either slide windows or pop up roof for best panoramic viewing, plus a professional driver and a guide and they are free to make stops in the search for wildlife, enjoying the true African wilderness.

Beach Bumming at Watamu

Watamu , a small holiday resort on the Kenyan coast, boasts fine sandy beaches plus a serene atmosphere, making it very quiet and incredibly idyllic. While there are lots of beaches in Watamu, there are very quiet beaches perfect for honeymooners and ideal for long walks and complete relaxation. Stony areas resembling a moon landscape become visible when the tide is low and many pools form on their own, perfect for viewing sea creatures.

Wildcation

Kenya offers you personalized all-inclusive experiences in the wilderness. This is all about staying in the middle of the wild and enjoying nature. For honeymooners, this can also include balloon safaris, which are a romantic and evocative way of experiencing the wilderness of East Africa as you gracefully and silently fly over the plains. The scenery from this aerial adventure is unforgettable due to its spectacular and breathtaking nature.

While there are many ways to see Kenya on a safari, A picture-perfect view from 14,000 feet above the ground, falling earthwards at 120 miles per hour. Skydiving for adrenaline junkies on the Kenyan coast has become the latest hotspot for an aerial adventure. Honeymooners can go skydiving where the equatorial atmosphere at sea level can give skydivers more than a minute of freefall over beautiful blue Indian ocean for a perfect view, before landing on the pure white sands on one of the world’s best beaches.

Lake Naivasha Activities

Situated between Lake Nakuru and the vast plains of the Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha boasts serene surroundings, an abundance of accommodation options to suit different budgets, plus a variety of activities for honeymooners, including:

  • Taking a Boat Safari — the most sought after attraction of Lake Naivasha is undoubtedly the chance to take a guided boat safari out onto the water. Honeymooners can catch a glimpse of everything from pelicans to cranes to smaller, more brightly colored birds.

What to do on your honeymoon Safari in Kenya

What to do on your honeymoon Safari in Kenya : Kenya is a wonderful safari destination where honeymooners do relax with their loved ones. Honeymooners in Kenya have a plethora of safari activities to select from, but as time is always of the essence, you have to pick carefully. Some of the options include the following:

What to do on your honeymoon Safari in Kenya

Go for game drives and scenic viewing .

It’s possible to combine both beach and bush tours into one safari, which is a popular option for couples visiting Kenya for the first time on their honeymoon. This beach and forest break blends leisure with exploration. This type of travel takes you through some of the best parts of Kenya. For instance, you may visit areas like Amboseli National Park to spend a few hours game viewing or spend some quality time observing the gorgeous pink flamingos along the shores of Lake Naivasha.

Zebras, warthogs, hyenas, elephants, wildebeests, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, and occasionally Maasai giraffes can be spotted meandering through the misty, picturesque environment of Amboseli National Park . This excursion is intriguing for nature lovers because it shows you how the melting snow from Mount Kilimanjaro flows into the Amboseli plains, forming a swamp in the middle of the dusty plains.

Laze around any of the tropical beaches in Diana or Mombasa.

Beach vacations are ideal if you decide to go to Mombasa or Diani, since these locations provide some of the greatest resorts and beaches that are ideal for honeymooners. Kenya is the ideal safari destination if you wish to spend time at one of the many stunning beach resorts scattered along the Indian Ocean’s coastline.  For instance, Diani is regarded as one of the best honeymoon dream locations since it offers a variety of safari experiences to suit the needs of various visitors, from white sand beaches for those who just want to stroll and relax by the beach to incredibly clear waters for those who are interested in water spots.

What to do on your honeymoon Safari in Kenya

Go for glass-bottom boat trips.

This is a well-known location where you may view a variety of aquatic life without getting wet. Through a glass, you can watch them all, and if you’re not a fan of swimming, this is the best place for you to participate. If you have children with you, this is also a fantastic thing to undertake.  You can view Diani’s breathtaking underwater environment through the imbedded glass floor on the bottom of the boat, which is home to a variety of exotic fish, stunning coral reefs, and other marine life.  A professional tour guide or captain will assist you in getting the explanations you require. If you want to have a closer look at the various marine creatures beneath the seas, you can get out of the boat to go snorkeling or even go scuba diving on this boat tour.

Kenya is home to some of the greatest beaches in the world, and Diani tops the list due to its crystal-clear seas and humid climate, which draw plenty of visitors and a variety of beach safari activities. You will be astounded by the beach’s awesomeness when you visit; in addition to pleasant inhabitants, the road leading to the beach is lined with palm trees. Savour the food because it’s made with fresh coconut milk, which gives every meal prepared at the beach a delicious flavor.

Explore Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Kenya has a lot to offer, particularly in the way of animals. While on one of the group game safaris arranged by your hotel or an agent, keep an eye out for the uncommon and docile black rhinos. You get to see unusual locations like Lewa wildlife conservancy during these exceptional honey moon game viewing safaris; in fact, this type of safari is frequently referred to as the “big five” safari because all five of them are there.

Visiting Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Because of its abundance of wildlife, plant species, and bird life, Masai Mara National Reserve is one of Africa’s top safari destinations.  It is also well-known for the magnificent yearly migration of wild animals, so taking a hot air balloon ride in this region of Kenya is well worth it, particularly during the time of the migration or just for the pure romantic experience of a honeymoon safari.

Masai Mara National Reserve was included to the list of the Seven Wonders of the World, presumably due to its status as the site of the annual wildebeest migration, which is more akin to the Olympic Games for animals. About forty percent of Africa’s large animals, including all five of the Big Five, live in this park. There are also over 400 kinds of birds, over 95 distinct mammal species, reptiles, and several amphibians.

Hike the snowcapped Mount Kenya.

Trekkers and rock climbers will discover that visiting Mount Kenya is well worth the trip.  With snow-capped peaks and a variety of pathways that you can follow with the assistance of a qualified guide, Mount Kenya is the second-tallest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro.  This is an exciting safari activity, and it’s a fantastic idea to explore the environment while you’re relaxing. You are free to go as far as you like because this is not a race. After the stroll, you will have plenty of time to unwind in your opulent and exquisite cottages.

In a manner, Mount Kenya is unique in that its lower slopes touch both sides of the equator. This walk begins very early in the morning, right before the sun rises. Participants gather for a briefing at the headquarters, which is located on the mountainside slopes, and the guide then leads the way.

Take a guided Nature walk in Sweetwaters Game Reserve.

If you would rather see wildlife, you can also arrange a daytime game drive at the Sweetwaters Game Reserve , which is not far from the mountainous area. Alternatively, you can just go on a guided nature walk around the national park.

Many orphaned chimpanzees can be seen at Sweetwaters Reserve, along with several other Big Five species, the most prevalent of which are buffalo, elephant, and rhino.

Enjoy horseback rides in Ol Pejeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters Camp)

An alternative is to have a safari on horseback through the plains and surrounding Ol Pejeta conservancy in this amazing wildlife location. This excursion, which is also guided, is a little more exciting than the game drives because it allows you to travel through forests and visit locations that are not possible to access in a car.  Riding a horse allows you to get up close and personal with wildlife, including zebras, warthogs, and antelopes. Additionally, horseback riding doesn’t require any prior knowledge, making it the finest activity for your honeymoon safari in Kenya.

You can unwind around a lighted bonfire right before your delectable dinner is served, or you can have sundowners with lovely cocktails for some quality time spent in close intimacy.

What to do on your honeymoon Safari in Kenya

Nairobi city tour.

Take a tour of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. After arriving in the nation, you should make time to see a number of its attractions.  To find out more about Nairobi’s diverse history and cultures, pay a visit to the Nairobi National Museum. Nairobi Railways and the Karen Blixen Museum are two other museums.

Dinner doesn’t have to be at the hotel where you plan to stay; you can choose any old hotel. There are plenty of elegant eating establishments in Nairobi. If this is your first time dining there, ask your agent to reserve a table at the chef’s table feast, which overlooks Tatu’s open kitchen. It’s quite intimate; you can be serenaded while dining on a variety of foods, from crispy deep-fried crocodile to everyday fare like regular beef. Should you want to sample some, they also serve local Kenyan cuisine.

You should visit the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage while you’re in Nairobi. Visit the orphanage and you can even help feed the elephants this is probably the closest you will ever get to seeing an elephant in your life. Adopting one is offering to provide for its welfare for as long as possible.   A similar experience can be had by visiting the Giraffe Centre instead.

Additionally, the top floor parking garage at Village Market Mall is the place to go if you want to pick up some mementos from your honeymoon because every Friday, it is transformed into a Maasai Market. Vendors will be selling a wide variety of distinctive jewelry made by the tribe, as well as woven baskets and numerous other hand-carved items like bowls.

When to go for a Honeymoon Safari in Kenya.

We advise any visitors wishing to take a honeymoon safari in Kenya to adhere to the country’s dry season, which is ideal for getaways and lasts from June through November. Travelling between November and March is also recommended, but be prepared for sporadic downpours.

If at all feasible, plan your honeymoon during July through October, when you will undoubtedly be able to see the migration of wildebeests. If you have a stronger interest in beach life and water safari activities, you should try to visit Kenya between January and March. During that season, the country is often dry, so you won’t have to worry about rain ruining your plans.

Because Kenya is such an inspiring country with so many arid and semi-arid plains, incredible towns, and countless lovely beaches along its stunning coastline with so much to discover, it offers the ultimate honeymoon safari experience in Africa. Kenya is among the top safari destinations for wildlife safaris because it includes around 40 national parks and wildlife reserves. To ensure that you have time for all you want to do on your honeymoon, schedule it well in advance.

Top drivers gear up for WRC Kenya Safari Rally challenge

•With a lineup of 29 entries comprising top contenders from across the world, anticipation for the rally has reached a fever pitch.

•Several drivers have already arrived in Kenya, eager to tackle the challenging terrain and compete for glory in one of motorsport’s most revered events.

The highly-anticipated World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally in Kenya is only hours away, with the stage set for what is predicted to be a wet showdown in the East African savannah.

This year’s Safari Rally has been moved up to the Easter slot from June and is now the third round of the 2024 FIA WRC following the opening two races in Monaco and Sweden.

The Safari has been held in June since its return to the global championship in 2021 following a 19-year absence, and following heavy rains that started to hit the country over the weekend, drivers are expecting a mud bath.

The event will be flagged off in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Thursday before the drivers compete in a Super Special Stage within the city.

The crews will then move to Naivasha, 80km northwest of the Kenyan capital for the three-day rally proper that concludes on Sunday.

With a lineup of 29 entries comprising top contenders from across the world, anticipation for the rally has reached a fever pitch.

Several drivers have already arrived in Kenya, eager to tackle the challenging terrain and compete for glory in one of motorsport’s most revered events.

Championship leader Thierry Neuville is seeking his first Safari victory, having been forced to retire from the 2021 and 2023 editions.

“We had a good kick-off of the season as we are still leading the championship. Coming here to Kenya now, much earlier in the season, we are really looking forward to the race,” the Hyundai driver told reporters at Masai Mara Game Reserve on Sunday.

“We know it’s a windy season as well, so it’s going to be probably a different challenge than what we have seen in the previous years. But it’s always exciting to be here and it’s some kind of adventure and much different than all the other rallies,” he added.

Neuville leads the standings with 48 points, three ahead of Welshman and Toyota Gazoo Racing rival Elfyn Evans. Frenchman Adrien Fourmax of M-Sport Ford is further adrift in third with 29.

“First I need to get used to the temperature here. It’s very hot, obviously, compared to what we have in France. I need to get used to it. And the landscape is completely different. So, yeah, quite a shock now, but a very nice experience. Obviously, it’s quite different from what we have in Europe but it’s always interesting to discover something new,” he said.
