Simac Ladies Tour van start in Ede

EDE- De Simac Ladies Tour 2023 begint op dinsdag 5 september met een proloog van 3,2 kilometer in Ede. De route en de afstand zijn dezelfde als in 2021, toen Marianne Vos de eerste gele leiderstrui van Simac om de schouders trok. Een jaar geleden deed de enige Women’s WorldTour-wedstrijd in de Benelux Ede ook al aan en won Lorena Wiebes als Europees kampioene een massasprint. Wethouder Peter de Pater (sport): “Ede is blij dat we deze wielerwedstrijd in onze gemeente mogen zien. Ik hoop dat 5 september een prachtige en sportieve dag wordt waarin veel bezoekers naar Ede komen en genieten van de wedstrijd en van ons centrum.”

De Gelderse gemeente is naast een prima uitvalsbasis voor recreanten om de natuur in de omgeving te bezoeken, ook een heuse wielergemeente aan het worden. Ede was in 2019 ook al gastgemeente van het NK Wielrennen. Thijs Rondhuis van Courage Events komt na twee eerdere edities een beetje thuis in deze stad. “Ede is met haar natuurschoon en goede infrastructuur bijzonder geschikt voor een wielerevenement. Met de proloog over 3,2 kilometer mogen we voor het klassement van de Simac Ladies Tour een eerste maar waarschijnlijk nog niet definitieve schifting verwachten. Voor de toeschouwers is de tijdrit een mooie gelegenheid om de rensters – waaronder traditioneel de wereldtop van het vrouwenpeloton – van dichtbij te volgen op de momenten dat ze zich voorbereiden op de wedstrijden en vervolgens tijdens hun rit tegen de klok. Na afloop huldigen we uiteraard op de Markt.’’ 

Dit jaar is de Simac Ladies Tour geen voorbereidingswedstrijd op het WK vanwege de verplaatsing van de mondiale titelstrijd naar augustus. Veel rensters gebruiken de etappekoers als voorbereiding op het EK in Drenthe van 20 tot en met 24 september.

This year's course is largely flat, especially in the opening three stages. The race begins in Lelystad for stage 1, and then heads to Ede for stage 2, with a first-time visit to Linburg and Gelderland during on stage 3 that starts and finishes in Gennep.

There are some undulating routes in the second half of the event, starting with stage 4's route through Landgraaf. The GC could potentially be decided at the individual time trial on the penultimate stage 5.

The six-day race then concludes with a flat and fast stage 6 finale in Arnhem.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Women's Driver

Description.

This ultra-premium 460cc profile designed for maximum forgiveness takes MOI to the absolute extreme! The E723 Driver’s extreme low rearward CG position produces an extremely high MOI of 5600 g/cm2, the highest MOI driver Tour Edge has ever produced.

The E723 Driver features a Flight Tuning System on a new sliding track, while bringing the ultimate in power, feel and forgiveness through Tour Edge’s breakthrough 360-degree Ridgeback™ and Diamond Face VFT ™ technologies.

Flight Tuning System / MOI+ -The Flight Tuning System is weighting design on a sliding track features a 20-gram weight at the extreme trailing edge on the sole of the clubhead.

Sliding the weight on the adjustable track allows for a +/- 10-yard heel and toe bias in directional flight. For example, if you were to slide the weight all the way to edge of the Fade position, your flight would adjust 10 yards to the right for a right-handed player, and vice versa for the Draw setting.

The E723 Driver’s extreme low rearward CG position produces an extremely high MOI at a 5600 g/cm2 MOI, the highest MOI driver we have ever produced. This leads to increased stability at impact and tighter dispersion. It’s a 5% increase in MOI over the previous E design.

360° Ridgeback Technology - Tour Edge engineers created a thinner, more refined Ridgeback activation for E723 with increased structural properties and 360-degree perimeter weighting. The Titanium Ridgeback spine running from the center of the face through the crown now wraps around the entire perimeter to frame the entire clubhead.

Adding Titanium to the perimeter, along with Ridgeback down the center, allows more support on off-center hits to increase face deflection. The additional perimeter Titanium has boosted MOI significantly. This Ridgeback spine and now 360-degree activation acts as a brace for the entire clubhead to produce more power across the entire face, including the extreme perimeters.

The E723 Ridgeback design is 15% thinner than the previous E722 model, while offering greater structural support properties.

Ridgeback is designed to create superior feel at impact. The extra rigidity created by the brace through the crown produces a much stronger feel at impact when compared to a full carbon crown and results in a crisper and brighter feel at strike.

Quad Carbon Tech - Tour Edge engineers replaced extra Titanium from the crown and sole by creating Quad Carbon Tech in four different areas of the clubhead. The E723 features 5% more carbon fiber than its previous iteration.

The addition of Quad Carbon Tech saves considerable weight in the clubhead, allowing for the 360-degree Ridgeback design, an increase in MOI, greater face flex in the heel and toe areas so off- center hits achieve greater power.

This weight savings has been re-purposed to the ideal location to help with creating optimal CG location.

Diamond Face VFT - The new Diamond Face VFT is made up of diamond shapes of variable face thickness behind the face. There are 61 total diamond shapes featured on Diamond Face VFT, comprising seven different thicknesses in an interweaving pattern. The face thickness of the new Diamond Face VFT is thinner on the heel and toe on the E723 Driver.

The mini trampolines that make-up Diamond Face VFT create faster ball speeds and an expanded sweet spot. The increase in Diamond Face coverage to the extreme heel and toe dramatically increases ball speed on off-center hits while also greatly aiding forgiveness on these strikes.

How Dawn Staley, South Carolina beat NC State in Women’s Final Four

South Carolina remains unbeaten, advances to title game

No. 1 South Carolina is one game away from perfection.

The Gamecocks (37-0) turned a close game into a blowout in the second half, pulling away from No. 3 NC State (31-7) for a 78-59 win in the first Final Four semifinal Friday in Cleveland. South Carolina will face the winner of No. 1 Iowa and No. 3 Connecticut in the national championship Sunday.

South Carolina led NC State by just one point at halftime, but outscored it 29-6 in the third quarter. Kamilla Cardoso led the Gamecocks with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashlyn Watkins contributed 20 rebounds off the bench.

Iowa and UConn will meet in the second semifinal , with tipoff expected around 9:30 p.m. ET.

CLEVELAND — This was the way it always had to end: Iowa versus South Carolina. Caitlin Clark’s final chance at a national title against the undefeated Gamecocks, a rematch of the epic 2023 Final Four clash that catapulted Clark into superstardom.

South Carolina once again enters as the No. 1 overall seed, unbeaten this season and attempting to complete the 10th undefeated campaign in NCAA women’s history. Just like in 2022-23, the Gamecocks boast the best defensive rating in the country, per Her Hoop Stats, and the Hawkeyes have the best offense. The country’s deepest team faces the national player of the year for all the marbles.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s title game, it’s instructive to think back to last year’s contest. South Carolina took away Clark’s playmaking. The Gamecocks defenders stayed glued to Iowa’s shooters to avoid giving up a high volume of 3-pointers. That left the middle of the floor open, however, for Clark drives and pick-and-roll with Monika Czinano, and that two-player game could not be stopped. Without a one-on-one defender who could contain Clark, South Carolina ultimately needed to send help, but had already schemed not to.

CLEVELAND — Just when you thought this women’s basketball season couldn’t give any more, just when you thought it had drained itself of record on-court performances, all-time viewership numbers and compelling grudge matches, it is giving us an opportunity to witness all three in one game, pitting Iowa against South Carolina in the national championship showdown most fans and every ABC executive wanted.

It had to end this way, right? Great player versus great team. The quest for the perfect ending versus the pursuit of the perfect season. An opportunity for South Carolina to avenge its only loss of the last two seasons. A way to cap a memorable season with a potentially unforgettable finale.

If the Iowa-LSU regional final drew an average of 12.3 million viewers on a Monday night on cable, it boggles the mind to think what the Iowa-South Carolina rematch of last year’s national semifinal could do Sunday on network television. You have Caitlin Clark, Iowa’s transcendent star and expected No. 1 pick of the upcoming WNBA Draft, seeking to go out on top after losing in last season’s title game. And you have South Carolina, with virtually an all-new lineup, seeking to finish what it could not a year ago.

"Coach told us that was a six-point quarter for them. We were just like shocked because it didn't feel like that. It felt like we were just out there being locked in on offense and defense. And we just played the game we know how to play. At some points we don't know what's going on. We just know we're having fun. And we just love being out there with each other."

A fun moment on ESPN postgame, as Aliyah Boston — whose South Carolina career ended in the Final Four last season — interviews her former coach, Dawn Staley, after the Gamecocks advanced past NC State.

“You play to your strengths, Kamilla (Cardoso) is a strength of ours,” Dawn Staley said. “She played with a desire to win. She asked for the ball a couple times as well.”

South Carolina routs NC State

South Carolina is going back to the national championship.

The top-ranked and undefeated Gamecocks defeated third-seeded NC State 78-59 in the first Final Four game Friday night. The win sends South Carolina back to the national championship for the second time in three years, after winning it all in 2022.

The Gamecocks were led by star post player Kamilla Cardoso, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds despite missing the last 1:39 of the first half with an apparent leg injury.

South Carolina led by five before Cardoso went down, but that lead was cut to just one point at halftime. Cardoso returned after halftime and South Carolina took control of the game right away, jumping out to a 10-1 run in the third quarter. South Carolina outscored NC State 29-6 in the third quarter to break the game open.

South Carolina routs NC State to advance to second national championship in last 3 seasons

South Carolina's Ashlyn Watkins is just the fifth player to record 20 rebounds in a women's Final Four game, joining Mississippi State's Teaira McCowan (25, 2018), North Carolina's Charlotte Smith (23, 1994), Old Dominion's Tracy Claxton (20, 1985) and LSU's Sylvia Fowles (20, 2008).

2024 NCAA Women's Final Four tickets ranks as the most expensive Women's Final Four of all time

The 2024 final four ticket prices are 82% more expensive than last year.

The 2024 Women's NCAA Tournament is coming down the home stretch after Iowa, South Carolina, Connecticut, and North Carolina State advanced to the Final Four . As a result, ticket prices are at all-time highs as the NCAA Tournament winds down.

According to TickPick, the 2024 Final Four is the most expensive NCAA women's Final Four in history with an average purchase price of $532. It's an 82% increase over the 2023 women's Final Four ticket prices, which averaged $291.

Before this year's tournament started, the "get-in" price for the NCAA women's Final Four was $205. However, following Iowa reaching the Final Four, that price rose to $692, which was a 237% increase. The current "get-in" price is $582 -- 546% more expensive than the "get-in" price for the 2023 NCAA Women's Final Four.

According to TickPick, the most expensive ticket purchase was a set of four tickets in Section 107, Row 14 for a price of $4,227 per ticket for a grand total of $16,908.

On the other hand, Vivid Seats has seen their website traffic go up 160% following the Hawkeyes advancing to the Final Four. The average listed ticket price for their game went up 19% overnight.

Vivid Seats is projecting the crowd breakdown being 44% Iowa fans, 32% South Carolina fans, 16% UConn fans, and 8% NC State fans. The ticket service also estimates that fans of Iowa and UConn will travel at least 360 miles to see their respective teams play.

No. 1 seed South Carolina will take on No. 3 seed NC State, while No. 1 seed Iowa will face No. 3 seed UConn on Friday for the right to play in Sunday's national title game.
