Marella Cruises has launched a new brand campaign entitled “Live Happy.” According to a press release, the campaign encompasses a TV advert with a longer (40 seconds) and shorter (20 seconds) versions.

The advert showcases Marella’s onboard experiences and the destinations that the cruise line sails to. The two versions will be aired across popular British TV channels including ITV, Channel 4 and some Sky channels over the next eight months.

According to the press release, the campaign aligns with TUI’s new “Live Happy” brand strategy, focusing on how travel creates enriching moments that last a lifetime.

Produced by Brace Productions and supported by Leo Burnett, the creative uses the music and voiceover featured in TUI’s core advertising, as well as utilizes the same graphic including the famous TUI smile.

Filming took place on the Marella Discovery, in and around some well-known Greek locations that serve as popular cruise destinations including Athens, Rhodes and Mykonos.

The creative “highlights how Marella Cruises helps guests ‘live happy’ from visiting breath-taking locations, experiencing the pure tranquillity of being at sea and enjoying unforgettable experiences onboard,” the cruise line wrote.

“We’re extremely excited for the launch of Marella Cruises’ new campaign. We go above and beyond to ensure our customers are looked after every step of the way. Provided with first class service, our guests get to explore some of the world’s must-see locations, across our carefully curated itineraries and this uplifting and inspiring new ad really captures what we do,” Managing Director Cruise TUI UK & I, Chris Hackney, said.

“Particularly after what has been a challenging couple of years, we are happy to welcome our guests onboard and help them create enriching moments and memories that will last a life-time,” Hackney added.

Customers can also save 300 British pounds on their bookings with Marella’s “Live Happy” sale.

Marella Cruises has launched its first television advert on New Year’s Day as it looks to cement its new brand name among key audiences.

The 10-second advert features in the same ad breaks as Tui and will be shown on terrestrial channels, including ITV and Channel 4, and various Sky channels.

The same music and voiceover from the Tui advert will be used in the Marella turn-of-year campaign.

In the advert Marella Discovery, one of the line’s newest ships, can be seen sailing across the open seas.

Producers of the ad seek to reassure that Marella Cruises is still part of the Tui brand and aims to highlight the quality service onboard.

The new campaign follows the recent rebrand to Marella Cruises from Thomson Cruises in October.

Chris Hackney, managing director of Marella Cruises, said: “It’s the first time in our history that we have had a cruise advert on television.

“We’re really proud of our brand and as cruising becomes more popular we are moving forward as Marella Cruises, continuing to strive to offer amazing itineraries, fantastic entertainment and the friendliest staff at sea.”

The advert will launch at a key booking period and customers can benefit from £100 off per booking for summer 2018 and winter 2018.

Marella Cruises Launches TV Advert And Cruise Month Campaign

marella cruise ad music

Marella Cruises has launched its Cruise Month campaign.

The cruise brand says it aims to attract the UK market in 2023 and beyond, as confidence in cruising strengthens.

The campaign includes its latest TV advert, ‘Live Happy’ which will be aired across popular TV channels, including daytime slots on ITV until 30 th September.

Marella Cruises’ ‘Live Happy’ TV advert is the most the brand has ever invested in television advertising in its history, it said in a statement.

The TV advert brings to life exciting and enriching experiences that guests can enjoy on a Marella cruise.

This will be supported across organic and paid social media, email marketing, and national press adverts.

The cruise brand is also offering a £300 discount promotion on selected cruises departing between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2023, which is valid on agent bookings.

Chris Hackney, Managing Director at Marella Cruises commented, “We’re pleased to be launching our Cruise Month campaign earlier than ever, as we know the demand is out there from consumers.

“We’ve seen bookings for this year bounce back to pre-pandemic levels and we want to build on this for 2023 and beyond.

“Given the rising cost of living, we know that offering good value for money is crucial, and we continue to offer all-inclusive as standard across our ships, allowing customers to budget more effectively for their cruise.

“Booking now for next year also means that agents’ clients will have more time to plan and spread the cost of their cruise as required.

“We can’t wait to welcome our guests onboard and help them create memories that will last a lifetime.”

Cool Cruiser

I noticed this on the Marella website on Explorer. Has anyone been to it? Thoughts? And cost?

Just looked this up and it is Explorer 2 and cost is £15.  Looks really nice, afternoon tea served on sea days in the Dining Club by white gloved waiters with music from the musicals.  Includes fancy sandwiches, cakes,  teas and a cocktail.  Fizz is extra.

Sounds appealing although not sure I could eat dinner after all that 🍰

Thanks! Yes, it is also showing on Marella website for Explorer 1, not just 2. I thought it sounded interesting. Is it something new perhaps?

When Tui was known as Thomson this was included and it was excellent as was the Midnight buffet and the Chocolate buffet once every week not forgetting the hors d'oeuvres in the bars. 😁 They have cut back on a few things.

Like

P&O also have an extra cost afternoon tea, as well as the everyday free one, so I suppose it is the latest money-spinner. I don’t quite get the idea of Marella including a cocktail, since everybody has all-inclusive anyway.

Must admit the afternoon tea served in the buffet on E2 last year was very nice and we liked that it is served near the outside area.

I remember the midnight buffet but could never eat any after the late dinner.

When we first sailed on Thomson Celebration, it wasn’t a midnight buffet, it was a 24 hour buffet!

It certainly was on the other ships too We only ever ate there though if we missed lunch had afternoon tea and missed dinner - not very often though and I'm not surprised it was stopped as it was usually poorly attended very late at night. Currently few are eating now as late as 1pm that I've seen. I bet the staff were happy 😀

Yes I remember it was a 24 hour buffet.  Also remember afternoon tea was free as well as bridge tours.

Five courses served in the MDR, quicky and efficiently.  Now three courses and can take up to two hours.

No wine waiters now.  So restaurant waiters waiters are run off their feet.

Chocolate lovers buffet and Buffet Magnifique.  Gone.

On arrival on the ship a crew member used to take you to your cabin.  Now they point the way.

British newspaper printed every day.  Not any more.

No port maps now.

There wwere no restaurants where you had to pay a supplement.  Food was good in the MDR and buffet so no need to pay extra for a good meal.

The muster drill was done on deck and was taken very seriously.  You had to take your life jacket, stand in a straight line.  Men at the back, ladies in front and the captain and senior officers walked round the deck to inspect the drill.  Now they have become very lax and some treat it a a joke.

There were lots of waiters in the theatre to serve your drinks. Now one crew member standing at a table near the entrance telling you to help yourself.

Lots of entertainment during the day.  Hard to chose at times and sometimes wished we could be in two places at once.  Now cruise news is full of Teeth Whitening,  Frozen Shoulder Seminars,  Water Retention Seminars etc.

Since Marella became AI there are now more things to pay extra for.   How strange  is that !!!!

Nancy, totally agree with your comments!  I've  read practically the same comments on another British cruise company forum. It seems the way life is going.

Just pleased we have been able to enjoy cruising as it was and hope to keep cruising. For us it's the itineraries that keep us going, love travelling and seeing new places.

Well said Nancyneptune it certainly was the good old day's which we do miss but  we are still enjoying our cruises

Agree well said Nancy - those were the days 😎

Another thing I noticed when reading up about Explorer, is that there is a paid for ice cream counter. There always used to be a good selection of free ice-cream in the buffet!

Afternoon tea is still free!

Similar cutbacks on other cruise lines, you should read the moans on the P&O forums

The muster drill is still taken seriously, on larger ships there is no room on the promenade deck and it is safer to have the muster inside the ship, carrying lifejackets is no longer required because of the danger of tripping over trailing tie cords, yes it does happen

still choccies on the pillows

If we had all the things we had decades ago the price would be a lot higher and there would be lots of moaning

2 minutes ago, marylizcat said: Another thing I noticed when reading up about Explorer, is that there is a paid for ice cream counter. There always used to be a good selection of free ice-cream in the buffet!

Still a basic selection though!

Oh that’s good! I assumed it was instead of, not as well as. It has been some years since our last Thomson cruise.

I’m pleased to hear there are still choccies on pillows. Cruised with RCI last summer and missed my chocolate!

I suppose they don’t bother with bar service in the theatres any more because there’s no profit in it for them with AI. Before, the more drinks they could sell you the better. Now the fewer you drink, the better.

We had bad service in the theater last Sep on D2. 🍻 🍸 but you could collect on the way in also.

On E2 from Naples last year the ice cream on deck was delicious and at 1euro per scoop we thought it wasn't bad value.

Quite liked the drinks table going into the theatre especially if we are a bit late. If you want something not on the table they will get it for you. Also don't have bar people walking around while we're trying to watch the show.  Good and bad points with everything!

That should have read had service not bad service 🙄

Yes afternoon tea is still included in the price Dave, not free,  but it's not the special afternoon tea in the lounges that used to be included a few years ago when it was Thomson.  The afternoon tea we are talking about here is now chargeable.

There was a danger of tripping on cords when the life jackets had to be taken to the muster but people were always warned about this in the announcements and told to be aware.

The prices are a lot higher now compared with companies like P & O and other lines. Ok drinks package included but not everyone wants it. Tips included but the majority of passengers still tip their cabin staff and waiters anyway. ( our choice )

Lots of cruise lines now offer free drinks packages, free gratuities and many have loyalty schemes.

Prices for balcony cabins and solo cabins are also very expensive on Marella.

Just saying there have been lots of cut backs, price rises and things that were included a few years ago are now paid extras .

Just reminiscing about the good times in the past when it was Thomson.

Cruised with RCI last summer and missed my chocolate!   I suppose they don’t bother with bar service in the theatres any more because there’s no profit in it for them with AI. Before, the more drinks they could sell you the better. Now the fewer you drink, the better.

Think that's the idea.  Big reduction in staff.   Instead of several bar staff in the theatre they just need one standing at the table now.   I remember when you were told to go and sit down at a table and waiters would come to you if you went to the bar yourself to order a drink. Now big queues at some of the bars in the evening.
