What to Wear on a Field Trip: The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Right Clothes
By Happy Sharer
Introduction
Going on a field trip is an exciting experience that offers students the chance to explore new places, learn about different cultures, and gain knowledge about the world around them. But before you embark on your journey, it’s important to think about what to wear on a field trip. The right outfit can make all the difference between an enjoyable day out and an uncomfortable one.
When choosing what to wear on a field trip, there are several factors to consider. First of all, you need to make sure that your outfit is suitable for the location. You also need to take into account the type of activities you’ll be doing and the weather conditions. Additionally, it’s important to know the dress code so you don’t stand out from the group.
Layering Basics
Layering is the key to staying comfortable and looking stylish on a field trip. Layering allows you to adapt to changes in temperature throughout the day and gives you the flexibility to adjust your outfit as needed. Knowing what to layer is the first step in creating the perfect field trip outfit.
The most common items to layer are shirts, sweaters, and jackets. A lightweight shirt or tank top should be the base of your outfit. On top of this, you can add a sweater, cardigan, or hoodie for extra warmth. Finally, you can add a coat or jacket if it’s cold outside. When layering, it’s important to choose fabrics that are lightweight and breathable so you don’t overheat.
Comfortably Dressing for a Field Trip
When picking out clothes for a field trip, comfort should be your top priority. Choose materials that are lightweight and breathable to keep you cool during the warmer months. Fabrics such as cotton, linen, and rayon are all good choices. In the colder months, look for fabrics that are warm but not too bulky.
You should also take into consideration the climate of the area you’ll be visiting. If you’re heading to a hot and humid destination, opt for loose-fitting, light-colored clothing that won’t stick to your skin. If you’re traveling to a cooler climate, pack a few extra layers and wear waterproof boots and a hat to protect yourself from the elements.
Outfit Ideas for a Fun and Functional Look
When it comes to putting together a fun and functional field trip outfit, you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. Mixing patterned pieces and combining different textures can create a unique and eye-catching look. Try pairing a flannel plaid shirt with a pair of jeans and a cozy knit sweater. Or, go for a more casual look with a graphic tee and shorts. You can also add accessories like scarves and hats to complete your look.
What You Need to Know About Dressing for a Field Trip
Before you get ready for your field trip, it’s important to understand the dress code. Each school or organization may have different requirements, so make sure you check ahead of time. Some places may require closed-toe shoes or long pants, while others might allow sandals or shorts. It’s also important to take into consideration the type of activities you’ll be participating in. For example, if you’re going hiking, you’ll want to wear sturdy shoes and clothes that won’t restrict your movement.
5 Tips for Picking the Perfect Field Trip Outfit
Choosing the right clothes for a field trip doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are five tips for picking the perfect field trip outfit:
- Choose clothing that is suitable for the location. Consider the climate of the area you’ll be visiting and pick clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

- Consider accessorizing. Accessories can add a fun touch to your outfit and can help keep you warm.
- Follow the dress code. Be sure to check the dress code ahead of time so you don’t stand out from the group.

The Ultimate Guide To School Field Trip Wardrobe Checklist
Woohoo! Field trip is coming! Usually this is an outdoor activity organized by school during the summer break and opportunity for children to engage in various outdoor activities, both educational and recreational, outside of the traditional school setting. Field trip is one of school summer camp activities with the goal is to provide a well-rounded experience that combines learning, fun and engaging themes and celebrations to keep children excited and motivated to a specific place.
There are some places to visit for a field trip especially in summer, such as museums, zoos, nature reserves, and other educational and recreational destinations to provide children with new experiences and expand their knowledge. Usually teachers are preparing for a school field trip considering the children’s needs and creating a comfortable balance between structured activities and free time for children to explore their own interests and relax.
For this, you’ll want to consider the teacher clothing that is comfortable, practical. It’s important to consider the weather, location, and activities involved. It’s always a good idea to be prepared and dress comfortably to ensure an enjoyable and stress-free experience on the field trip.
Ahead, scroll down below for the comfiest wardrobe checklist ideas for a school field trip:
1. Comfortable Wardrobe
Choose breathable fabrics like teacher t shirts for warmer weather and layer up for cooler temperatures. Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight or uncomfortable for long periods of walking or physical activities. Jeans, khaki pants, or leggings are versatile options that can work for various field trip activities.
2. Comfy Shoes
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers or walking shoes, that provide support and protection for your feet. Avoid open-toed shoes or high heels that may not provide adequate protection or comfort.

3. Dress for the Weather
Check the weather forecast for the day of the field trip and dress accordingly. Bring along a raincoat or umbrella to your teacher bag if rain is expected.
- In hot weather, wear lightweight, teacher tees , and consider a hat or cap to protect against the sun.
- In colder weather, layer up with a jacket, sweater, or hoodie for warmth.
4. Check the Location and Activities
If the field trip involves outdoor activities or nature exploration, consider wearing long pants or leggings to protect against bugs or scratches. For visits to museums, cultural sites, or places with specific dress codes, follow any guidelines provided and don’t forget to bring your nametag with fashionable lanyard. Some places may require modest attire or restrictions on revealing clothing.
5. Must Bring Essentials
Consider bringing a small backpack or teacher tote bags to carry essentials such as water bottles, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and any necessary medications. Consider bringing an extra layer or jacket even if the weather seems mild, as temperatures can change throughout the day.

Dress Accordingly: 6 Tips for What to Wear on a School Trip
Deciding what to wear on a school trip can be challenging! You want to be comfortable, but you also want to look good. Here are our recommendations:
What to Wear Tip #1: Check the Weather
This may sound obvious, but many students do not think to do this before a trip. Check the weather forecast for your destination city prior to packing and especially the night before departure. The weather may vary wildly from your home town and may change day-to-day and hour-by-hour. Check the weather, and then pack accordingly! Don’t forget sunscreen, an umbrella, a scarf, gloves, etc. Students end up needlessly miserable by skipping this important step.
What to Wear Tip #2: Dress in Layers
School trips are often touring in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Each time of day can bring its own unique weather and temperature. Bring light layers on the bus – a long sleeve shirt, a light jacket, a raincoat, etc. You’ll be happy that you did when it is cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon.
What to Wear Tip #3: When in Doubt, Choose Long Pants
If you are debating between shorts or pants, choose pants. There is a certain amount of dust and grime that you will accumulate while walking through the city all day. If you think this will bother you, wear pants to feel cleaner for longer.
Additionally, some sites on your itinerary may be more conservative by nature. Pants ensure that you are dressed appropriately.
What to Wear Tip #4: Pack More than One Pair of Shoes
A school trip is not the time to break in a new pair of shoes. You will be walking more often than you think! Wear shoes that are broken-in and make sure that you bring a backup pair. Some shoes seem comfortable until they result in surprising blisters. Your feet will thank you if you alternative shoes between days of touring.
What to Wear Tip #5: Err on the Conservative Side
When in doubt, choose the more conservative clothing. This will ensure that you represent yourself and your school well. Additionally, if sites more conservative in nature are included on your itinerary (think, the United Nations, the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery), you will want to dress respectfully.
What to Wear Tip #6: Align with School Dress Code
Does your school have a school trip dress code? Many schools have guidelines in place for what can and cannot be worn during a school trip. Prepare accordingly.
Will the students have school trip t-shirts or sweatshirts? Many schools commemorate the trip with a t-shirt that everyone wears on a particular day. Make sure yours is packed!
Will your student be laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery? Dress code guidelines are in place.

These Chic Summertime Looks Are Perfect for a Day at the Zoo
With the warmer temperatures of summer comes a social calendar filled with outdoor activities. One such trip we love to take at least a few times a season is to the zoo—children or not. Though the parents among us plan a family field trip for obvious reasons, it can also be a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
What to wear when planning a trip to the zoo, though? Comfort is key, as even the smallest of zoos require a ton of walking. Loose clothing is not ideal, as some locations allow the animals to be close by. For summer days, think of outdoor accessories that protect like gorgeous sunglasses and a super-chic hat. And last but not least, layering is key, as you're apt to walk straight from the humid and sticky rainforest into the frigid puffin house before knowing what hit you.
With all the above and more in mind, draw some inspiration for what to wear to the zoo this summer from our favorite street style stars below. And then shop our essentials for the most practical—and most stylish—outfits for the zoo.
Grab that go-to floral minidress, but pair it with simple flat sandals you can walk for miles in.
Go monochromatic but in the most understated of ways. Consider a blue oxford button-down shirt half-tucked into a pair of blue jeans.
Try new and interesting things with your classics, like wrapping the front of your bright white shirting before tucking it into your denim. Finish the look off with a pop of color in your shoes.
Layer up with a cozy, oversize knit when reaching for those denim shorts. The mix of proportions not only keeps your look interesting, but it will also ensure you're warm enough for an entire day outside.
Jumpsuits are everything and more, but enjoy the whimsical look by opting for an equally fun-loving print.
Casual as a day at the zoo might be, that doesn't mean you can't slip into your most exciting summertime miniskirt. Tone the look down with the addition of an oversize shirt or tee and flat loafers.
Show a little skin with those high-waisted jeans. Cuff them up at the bottom to reveal your ankles and pair with a cropped top with statement sleeves.
A throw-on-and-go dress is superb for a day at the zoo, but why not choose one with a little more twirling action like this ruffle-hem style?
Don't be afraid to mix prints. We love to play with gingham, floral, stripes, and more. Pro tip: The more classic the shape of your pieces, the bolder you can be with your prints without going over the top.
All black doesn't have to mean all black—especially come summer. Consider adding bright sneakers or flat shoes to your head-to-toe absence of tone when you're headed to a day at the zoo this season.
We love the high-low mix of a sundress and low-top sneakers. Currently obsessing over silk wrap styles, our dresses are going to be paired with this athletic-inspired shoe all summer long.
Layer a bright white T-shirt under a silk dress for your summertime outing. Though a throwback to the '90s, with longer midi silhouettes, you'll instantly up your elegance factor.
When reaching for that bodysuit-and-denim combo, consider adding a few pairs of tuxedo-stripe jeans to your arsenal. They'll instantly amp up your look and ensure you need little more than that go-to top to complete your summertime look.
Graphic tees are a must, especially for those girls who live in denim all summer. It's just that extra detail your look needs to stand out in a crowd.
Fashion a Canadian tuxedo in new and interesting ways. This summer, we're opting for overalls instead of classic jeans and topping the look with a contrasting trucker jacket for a little something extra.

What To Wear To Theatre – 35 Best Outfit Ideas for Women
What to Wear to Theatre: It is a place where you need to stay traditional and flaunt style while remaining elegant. If there is a specific dress code, follow it; otherwise, opt for nude or lighter tones while dressing up formally for theater night.
When getting ready to go to the theater, make sure you look fresh and neat and smell nice. A light and fragrant scent can give you a fresh feel and add elegance to your overall personality.
Moreover, natural scents are proven to be more attractive than overpowering and overwhelming perfume.
Tips on Styling Your Theatre Outfits
- Spring & Summer Outfits
- Fall & Winter Outfits
Formal Styles
Celebrity style inspiration, what to wear to a play.
Do not forget to reflect on your sexy side and some good taste in dressing while going to the theater for a casual or musical play or attending a musical.
Ideally, you can opt for both informal and formal attire, but I suggest considering smart and low-key attire as a minimum requirement when choosing an outfit.
But you can not go wrong with formal and semi-formal dresses as they look best for such events, and you can glam up the casual outfits with the appropriate accessories.
And if the occasion (and theme) call for it, go with something more formal rather than a casual ensemble.
- Choose mid-length dresses or skirts – Dresses are always my top pick when going to watch a performance at the theater. You can make it fancy or keep it casual as per your preference.
- Skirts are a safe option – It is always a good idea to flaunt skirts in the summer. The theater is a perfect place to wear metallic skirts, and a huge plus point if it is pleated !
- A blazer or cardigan would be best for layering – In winter or evening, you should always prefer carrying coats or blazers with formal attire and a jacket with a casual outfit.
- Shoes can make a statement – No matter if the dress code is fancy or casual innovative, your shoes should always be the statement piece of your ensemble. No matter how contemporary the performance promises to be, there is no place for flip-flops in the theater.
Spring & Summer Outfits
35 – tie your oversized blazer-dress at the waist with a statement belt.
If you have a pearl blazer in your closet, now is the time to get it out! Wear it as a dress if it is oversized enough. Otherwise, pair it with white pleated pants or light-wash flared jeans.
You can easily DIY this outfit as well! All you need is an oversized blazer – your brother or dad’s old ones will work too, a string of pearl beads, and a glue gun.
Wear gloves to protect your hands, glue the pearls onto the blazer in your desired pattern, and viola!
34 – Add a Hint of Glam With the Right Pop of Color & Accessories
The best way to make any monochrome outfit stand out is to incorporate a bright color. You can opt for a bright lip color, jewelry, handbag, or shoes.
Similarly, this one is perfect for formal occasions in all its monochromatic glory elevated by hints of orange!
33 – Pair Your Leather Skirt With a Printed Blouse
32 – Wear Your PJs But Make it Fancier
Wearing your pajamas for semi-formal and formal occasions sounds like a dream. And you can do exactly that by taking inspiration from this outfit below!
The first thing to make this dream a reality is to buy a decent-looking pair. Step two is to pair them with heels. And finally, accessorize and glam yourself up!
31 – Black Spaghetti Strap Side-Slit Dress
Now, this is an attire you simply can not go wrong in. This gorgeous velvet sheath dress features a slit and thin spaghetti strap.
Pair it with a classic pair of pumps and pull your hair back in a sleek hairstyle. Add a sheer shawl or light wrap for warmth!
30 – Classy Semi-Formal Outfit for the Theater
Are you not a fan of dresses? Check out this gorgeous alternative. A corset blouse is a stunning option to style to the theatre as it is classy and perfect for the theatrics!
And it is a major success if you can find one with timeless patterns, including polka dots, stripes, and animal prints. Pair your top with flared pleated pants and heels!
29 – Gorgeous Floral Jumpsuit
Here is another example of a wonderful theater night look! This floral jumpsuit is classy, simple, and elegant. You can dress it up or down according to your needs.
It is a fun, sweet ensemble that does not sacrifice any of its elegance! Accessorize with a glitzy clutch and a pair of gorgeous heels.
28 – Add a Pop Of Color to Your Pastel Outfit With Jacket & Shoes
27 – Complement the Colors of Your Shirt by Opting for Similar Shoes
All the ladies can be playful and wear printed blouses with effortless and casual styling. Similar to a perfect evening, this is the ideal pick to hang out at the play.
I love the pop of yellow color the heels bring to this attire!
26 – Add an Oversized Blazer to a Brown Sleeveless Top With Blue Skirt
This semi-casual ensemble could also work for performance night. During the summer, we know it is not so easy to wear formal outfits in the evening. Therefore, you can opt for a funky skirt with a good top, and it will work for you.
You can further elevate your look by adding a smart, oversized blazer that compliments the colors of your attire!
25 – Pair Your Fanciest Blouse With Jeans & Heels
And this is how you pull off a relaxed and informal outfit for a play! This one is the perfect mix of semi-formal and casual, and I love it!
The blue jeans are a classic pairing with the white blouse. But what makes it stand out is the leather jacket complemented by the belt and shoes.
This is an effortless, stunning fit and so easy to style. Moreover, you can wear it on various occasions!
24 – Opt for a Theatrics With a Collar Shirt Under Your Dress
Below is the look for you if your style is the perfect balance between french girl meets preppy schoolgirl vibes. Add chunky gold accessories to make your outfit stand out!
23 – White Collared Shirt With Black And Orange Skirt
This adorably chic look is perfect for any kind of theater production! This tailored long-sleeved top is super feminine and pretty. You can style it with similar bejeweled sandal heels.
22 – Go for a White Top With Brown Cargo Pants And Nude Heels
Another look for the ladies who prefer sharp yet casual but still semi-dressy attire! This sheer white top is tucked into a pair of lovely fitted trousers and paired with dressy nude heels.
Opt for glamorous old Hollywood-style curls to amp it up.
21 – Black Button-Down Shirt With Blue Denim Jeans
Denim can work in almost any situation. This is the perfect attire if you are searching for what to wear to a musical.
Pair a chic black top with denim blue jeans and spice up the look with some cheetah print red and black heels. Avoid tote bags and pick a small bag instead.
Fall & Winter Outfits
20 – white shirt with black leather pants and a fur coat.
For a stylish look, throw on your leather leggings, a cute tee, and a faux fur coat for fall date nights at the theater.
In fact, faux fur outerwear is bound to make your most mundane looks into something spectacular!
19 – Pop on a Bright Lip Color to Make Your Pastel Outfit Stand Out
Are you headed to a formal event that is not really formal? No problem! This semi-formal dress idea could work for you for a perfect evening fit.
Switch out the cropped blazer for a cashmere if you want to make it more dressy.
18 – Go for a Monochrome Theme for a Trendy Look
Nothing screams classier than a lace jumpsuit paired with a teddy coat. If you want a daring look, I suggest smearing a bold red across your lips.
17 – What To Wear To A Broadway Musical
I adore this pleated, mustard-colored skirt paired with a tucked-in deep green sweater and cute taupe ankle boots. You can accessorize similarly with a crossbody purse.
Thus, you have a lovely date night fit that you can style up or down according to how formal the theater show is!
16 – Pair a Black Top With Grey Dress Pants And Black Leather Jacket
Not all girls like wearing dresses, so here is a chic, street-style look that works well if you are not sure what to wear to a musical.
Taupe or gray trousers look gorgeous with heeled boots, a black top, and a fitted leather jacket. Switch out the bag for a crossbody bag or light purse to finish the fit.
15 – Make Your Plaid Maroon Pants With an All-Black Outfit
A fur top with checkered pants looks stylish, and women who do not want to wear lots of layers can go with it.
Moreover, the easiest way to style plaid pants is to go with a solid color for your top and shoes. In this case, black works effortlessly!
14 – Opt for a Black And Maroon For Formal Dress Code
A well-dressed girl usually gets second glances when she walks through a room. Why not make it worth their while with a stunning ensemble like this one?
This bold maroon and black combination is chic. Pair with a matching red heel or black boots.
13 – Pair Your Black Classy Pantsuit With Black Leather Jacket
In this article, I have included several alternatives for ladies who do not like wearing dresses, such as this gorgeous all-black pantsuit.
It features a modest v-neck and a feminine tie at the side, reminiscent of a wrap top. Accessorize with a small clutch and a long drop necklace.
Throw on a leather jacket and style your hair in loose curls. Opt for open-toed heels and evening-style makeup. This is a stunning ensemble you will love wearing.
12 – Add a White Trench Coat to a Pink Off-Shoulder Top & White Pants
This is such a sweet, refreshing outfit that you have just got to try out! If you love soft and feminine vibes, this is the one for you.
It’s all about the accessories with this one. A soft pink sweater with detailing on the sleeves can be paired with a gorgeous white trench coat.
You can tuck the sweater into a high-waist skirt or a pair of trousers. Accessorize with reflective sunglasses and statement earrings like this tassel-styled pair.
Braided hair is the final touch that will kick up the femininity factor of this ensemble and is so easy to do!
Shop the sweater and earrings below:
Moonshine Cotton Pullover
Tassel Earrings
11 – Red Top With Black Jeans, Boots, And Jacket
Try out this attire for a comfortable look that is also super fun and funky. Black jeans, black booties, and a multi-colored top are the base, paired with a well-fitted jacket and handbag.
10 – Ultimate Formal Attire For Theater Show
This attire is the epitome of formal that is perfect for attending the theater!
This deep yellow gown looks lovely under the theater’s lights and can be paired with a brightly colored purse for ultra style and versatility.
You should go all the way with the accessories and think big like diamonds and gemstones!
09 – Go for Sleeveless & Backless in Orange With Black Heels
We love this backless, still-formal dress that remains classy despite barring some skin!
Choose a color that complements your skin tone, and do not be afraid to experiment with colors you have not tried before! Pair with a bold heel and pin your hair in an elegant updo.
08 – Go Monochrome in a Black Formal Attire With White Accessories
A mid-length dress with classic jewelry and a neutral-colored clutch looks perfect for attending a theater performance.
Black is formal and looks elegant, but you can also choose any pastel color. Pearl jewelry compliments the entire fit.
07 – Pair a Cream Midi Skirt With Matching Cardigan
An A-line midi skirt is a very elegant option for sleek or curvy women, whoever chooses it. But I suggest avoiding overly bright colors.
Nudes or blacks appear smart in the evening. A chained small bag with some statement jewelry is a must-add-on for the perfect ensemble. You can choose from shiny pumps to nudes.
Shop the ensemble below:
Knit Cardigan $30.89
Ribbed Knit Skirt $11.00
06 – Black Co-Ord Sets Pair Perfectly With White Blazers
This stunning jumpsuit will do all the talking for you, so accessorize lightly with a simple choker and nude heels.
05 – Opt for a Blue Bodycon Dress With Long Beige Coat
Instead of reaching for your trusty pair of jeans, take it up a notch by pairing a flirty blue dress with a jacket or trenchcoat (for colder days) and accessorize with flamboyant shoes and a matching purse.
04 – Choose Bright Red Shoes With Off-Shoulder Neckline
If you are attending a concert or special theatrical performance, then a net and floral print ensemble would look elegant.
Sleek girls can shine in this look by adding red heels. One can stay minimal with jewelry if wearing a bright-colored frock.
03 – Elegant White Lace Dress
The Oscar nominee Emma Stone was a wonder dressed in a white sleeveless ivory frock that was adorned with floral detailing throughout. You can also wear such dresses for premieres or special shows.
02 – Opt for Shades of Red with Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o stuns in maroon sequins with red heels! An opera or a concert can give you a chance to be a little dazzling. Try this bold ensemble if there is no specific code for dressing.
01 – Hayley Atwell in a Backless Skirt-Dress With Silver Pouch
This is a beautiful ensemble for going to the theater on a date! This backless satin dress is paired with nude heels and loose curls for an elegant appearance.
What do you wear to an afternoon theatre?
You can dress formally and casually depending on whether there’s a dress code for the event.
Spectators can dress as they choose, from fancy dresses and tuxedos to casual t-shirts, jeans, and flip-flops. You can also add a coat or jacket on your shoulder for a formal look.
Is it okay to wear jeans to the theatre?
Jeans are an excellent option for appropriate attire to wear at the theatre. If you want to dress your denim, think about pairing your go-to style with an elegant blouse or a sharp shirt. For added polish, wear a jacket. Furthermore, go with heels for a casual smart dress code.
What do you wear to the theater in the winter?
Consider wearing a wool dress or pantsuit for a more formal appearance. A coat, closed-toe shoes, and layers are essential to staying warm for the performance. Having a scarf, hat, and gloves on hand is also a fantastic idea. Do not forget to add a stunning pair of earrings to finish the appearance.

Travel + Leisure / Daisy Rodriguez
Before I became a travel journalist, I was a buyer in the fashion industry for over 15 years, working with brands such as Brooks Brothers, Michael Kors, and the former Liz Claiborne, so you can say that I have a keen eye for style, quality fabrics, and a good fit. These days, I put my former skills to work in a different way. On average, I travel twice a month and it’s not unusual for me to be zipping through the airport on any given day, so I pack light and maximize the outfits that I’m taking with me.
At first, it wasn’t easy to streamline my packing lists for each destination; I was always stressed that I had left an essential top, pair of bottoms, jacket — you name it — at home. But, with the help of my former fashion buyer brain, I developed the ultimate travel capsule wardrobe , complete with three foolproof outfits that help me create dozens of looks (without needing to check a bag , I might add). Here are my favorite mix-and-match separates that suit any type of trip itinerary — both work and play — along with some must-have accessories that'll widen your wardrobe horizons.
Duer LuxTwill Trucker Jacket
Duer luxtwill high-rise trousers, minnow navy and dusty red stripe sweater.
I’ve been a huge fan of the Canadian clothing company Duer for several years now, and its LuxTwill Trucker Jacket and matching High-Rise Trousers are one of my favorite outfits to bring on work trips. Both the jacket and pants are made of 98 percent cotton and 2 percent elastane, so the pieces have a structured look while allowing for some stretch for comfort.
While it’s a great set, I also love to wear the jacket as a separate, over dresses, leggings, or jeans. And, to save suitcase space, I'll sport it on the plane. I've found that it's a versatile essential that’s great for work and play destinations. The trousers pair well with knits as well as button-front tops. I especially love pairing it with a slouchy novelty sweater like my favorite one from Minnow ; it's an excellent transition piece for spring that works with denim, pants, skirts and shorts and is constructed of a dreamy cotton-cashmere blend, making it super soft and comfortable.
The timeless nautical pullover is also cozy, but not bulky and the dolman sleeves are fashionable and functional, allowing you to move freely when traveling. I own two of these sweaters and find myself bringing them on work trips and vacations because they match with nearly everything that I own.
To copy the look for less, pair this cropped jacket (on sale for $24) with these $40 high-waisted trousers and this nautical-inspired crewneck sweater that's currently $31 — all from Amazon.
PrettyGarden Two-Piece Sleeveless Vest and Wide-Leg Pants Set
I’m in love with Amazon's two-piece sets because not only are they available at amazing price points, but they're super sleek and can be styled in so many ways. Here, the vest is drapey and offers a sophisticated and elegant look, although it also works well with denim; when I'm home, I like pairing it with my Everlane Super-Soft Relaxed Jeans for a laidback SoCal vibe, but when I'm on the go, it goes perfectly with the Duer LuxTwill High-Rise Trousers featured above (and I can layer the brand's LuxTwill Trucker Jacket on top or pair the PrettyGarden trousers with my Minnow sweater ).
The bottoms are like palazzo pants and flare slightly, with a loose fit throughout. I like that they aren’t too tight, making them perfect for work meetings, long travel days, and itinerary-heavy days. They also have functioning pockets that are great for holding your essentials while on the move. The set comes in eight colors and sizes range from S to 2XL. Both pieces are machine washable; I’ve put them to the test in the wash several times and they come out looking just as good as new. A word of advice: Make sure you hang them to dry or lay them flat so they retain good shape.
For a more tailored look, you can get the set with a tighter-fitting cropped vest for $52. But, if this look is too business casual for your destination, I also pulled some stunning two-piece sets; check out the now-viral Anrabess Short-Sleeve Mockneck Sweater Set on sale for $40, the tropical getaway-ready Anrabess Linen Tank Top Matching Set that's currently $30, or the PrettyGarden Rib Knit Matching Set , which trades trousers for an elegant maxi skirt.
Vuori’s Short-Sleeve Lux Crew Jumpsuit
Vuori makes my favorite activewear, so it’s no surprise that this super-flattering jumpsuit is on my list of favorite travel outfits. The jumpsuit's performance knit is so comfortable, especially in the summer when it feels good to wear loose-fitting clothing, but is also perfect for travel days, road trips, as well as lounging poolside (save room in your carry-on by using it as a swim cover-up).
To make this outfit extra cool, slip the brand’s Halo Performance Hoodie over it when heading to a Pilates class or an early morning stroll. You can also wear it with a cropped jacket (like the Duer trucker jacket that I mentioned earlier) for a night out on the town. When the dress code calls for something cozier, I'll layer my Minnow sweater on top so it feels like I'm wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants — even though the combo looks effortlessly chic.
If you’re not a fan of onesies, don’t fret. Vuori's Villa Wide-Leg Pants can be paired with its Energy Top to serve a similar look. And, if you're looking for more budget-friendly jumpsuits, over at Amazon, you can get the Anrabess Short-Sleeve Crewneck Jumpsuit for $40.

Best Accessories for Travel Outfits
Now, it's time to put the finishing touches on these travel outfits. Similarly, my go-to accessories can be mixed and matched to be styled with different looks, ensuring that everything in your suitcase is functional and will get plenty of use on your trip. Below, you'll find my favorite travel shoes and travel purses to tie your outfits together.
Kizik Venice Slip-On Sneakers
A while back, I kept seeing these amazing hands-free slip-on shoes that you can put on and take off without having to bend down or fuss with laces. The Venice slip-ons are by far my favorites. They’re easy to slide right into, super lightweight, and hassle-free to pack. I love wearing them on long flights because they don’t feel constricting (plus, they make going through TSA security a breeze and I can easily slide out of them once I'm in my seat). And, when I'm at my destination, their cushy insoles and grippy rubber soles keep my feet comfy and supported when I'm on the move.
They go with everything and really elevate any outfit. I'll pair them with my Duer set for more casual affairs and use them to make my PrettyGarden vest-trouser duo more playful after work meetings. And, of course, they're the long-lost soulmate for my Vuori jumpsuit , especially on travel days.
Sapahn Jori Crossbody Bag
I used to be partial to labels and monogrammed bags, but I’m currently loving the Jori Crossbody for day-to-night use. During a recent trip to Santa Barbara, I found myself using it instead of my trusty Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag — which says a lot . Although it looks small, it actually fits everything that I need for a busy day on the go; I can store a small notebook, wallet, makeup compact, and smartphone in there without effort.
The best feature of this bag is that you can switch out the straps to give it an entirely different look, making it transitional from work to play. There are two pockets inside for organizing smaller items like lipsticks or receipts. It comes in four colors, although the khaki hue is my favorite because it’s great for spring and it goes with everything — whether I'm dressed up in my PrettyGarden vest and wide-leg trousers , dressed down in my Duer LuxTwill Trucker Jacket and matching High-Rise Trousers , or out grabbing coffee in my Vuori jumpsuit .
Amazon is filled with leather crossbody purses that are equal parts versatile, functional, and stylish — starting with the Gladdon Crossbody Bag (that's on sale for $16), the $13 FashionPuzzle Small Dome Chain Strap Crossbody Bag , and the Afkomst Crossbody Bag , which has a similar gold buckle detail in the center. For extra flair, I also spotted this on-sale Fossil crossbody that has a color-blocking print and a roomy build.
Milmo 1813 Tote Bag
Milmo's 1813 isn’t just another tote bag, it’s a lifesaver for travel. I often use it as a personal item (paired with my Vuori jumpsuit ) when flying because of its versatility and roominess. I also love that it has a removable and washable interior liner that easily comes out with snap buttons; I don’t have to over-worry about spills and messes (the company also offers a two-year warranty on any defects outside of normal wear and tear).
Its durable rope handles, which attach along the lower half of the bag, can hold up to 300 pounds, which is why it excels as a travel bag. As a tote, it's elegant, structured design is boardroom-ready (with my PrettyGarden two-piece set) , but it can also be worn as the perfect off-duty bag thanks to its convertible crossbody straps (I can sport it around town in the Vuori jumpsuit or Duer duo when I want to be hands-free). The exterior zip pockets allow for quick and easy access to your essentials while in line at the airport or a local eatery. It comes in four colors, but my choice is green.
Over at Amazon, you can replicate the look by adding the KouLi Buir Quilted Tote Bag ($40) or Missnine Laptop Tote Bag ($30) to your cart. But, if you want vast color options, I recommend the Wrangler Vintage Convertible Tote , which is available in 33 hues and is currently on sale for $49.
Everlane Day Glove Flats
While I’m a huge fan of my Mansur Gavriel flats , I usually opt for Everlane's Day Gloves when I'm traveling because they’re just so comfortable and sleek. Praised for their buttery soft leather, the shoes mold to your feet for easy movement and endless support. I can take on a full day of walking wearing them. The rubber soles create a solid foundation and provide grippy traction on uneven and slick surfaces.
Made in an Italian factory, they come in 13 colors and sizes from 5 to 11, with the option for narrow or comfort width. I own several colors and rotate them when traveling. Plus, they hardly take up any room in my suitcase, which is always a win if you're a carry-on-only traveler, and can help spruce up professional outfits like the PrettyGarden vest and wide-leg pants , or make laidback styles like the Duer trucker jacket , matching pants , and Minnow sweater dressier.
Their comfort is hard to match, but Amazon shoppers assure that the Trary Mary Jane Flats are another supportive option (and they're only $35). You can also get the Square-Toe Ankle Strap Ballet Flats , which are teacher-approved , from DreamPairs for $33. Knit flat fans can score the popular Frank Mully Pointed-Toe Flats for $36 thanks to a limited-time deal.

3 Days in Moscow – Itinerary: What to Do, How to Get Around & Where to Stay
What to do in Moscow in 3 days?
Don’t worry; 72 hours is enough to get a glimpse of the vibrant and expressive side of Moscow.
Russia. Just the mention of the name conjures images of red flags, vast spaces, and deadly distances.
Moscow is the heart of Russia, with an incredibly turbulent history, gorgeous architecture and slightly strange people with a mystic Russian soul.
While visiting Moscow, the brutal history is palpable. But, with so many shops, restaurants, and malls, the city is rightfully considered a perfect destination for a city break .
Moscow’s relatively compact city center is teeming with sights: theaters, museums, boulevards, and beautiful city squares. But because of that, planning a short visit to Moscow can be quite overwhelming.
I fell in love with Moscow a long time ago and I want to use this article to point out my favorite sights and spots in the city.
My 3-day Moscow itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors and those who want to see as much of the city as possible. So let’s get started!
NOTE: This article is currently not being updated because of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
3 Days in Moscow – Itinerary
Day 1: iconic moscow.
There is no doubt that the Red Square is the heart of Moscow and almost any trip to this city starts from here .
The square has an abundance of sights to see and you should probably expect to spend at least 2-3 hours here if you want to explore every nook and cranny.
Tip: Book a Red Square, Kremlin & Metro Tour to skip the line and learn more about Moscow’s incredible history.
The massive Lenin mausoleum, the opulent St Basil Cathedral, the GUM department store, and the State Historical Museum became integral parts of the architectural ensemble.
And depending on where you enter the Red square, those four sights are the first things to see.
Just a stone’s throw away from the Red Square there is a majestic Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
Originally built in 1883 it was then demolished in 1931 during the Soviet period and finally rebuilt between 1994-1997.
This awe-inspiring cathedral is one of the tallest Orthodox churches in the world . And it has a convenient location for exploring the rest of the city.
End the first of your three days in Moscow by exploring the area near the Old Arbat Street. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Moscow. It dates back to the 15th century and allows you to enjoy the authentic ambiance of the Old City.
Located just a few blocks away there is the New Arbat Street. While it is much younger and less fancy than its older counterpart the street is filled with some of the most vibrant restaurants and liveliest nightclubs in Moscow .
Both Old and New Arbat streets have a wide range of restaurants with food catering for all budgets.
Day 2: Beyond Red Square. Moscow’s Parks.
On the second day of this Moscow itinerary, I suggest exploring Moscow’s green lung.
In fact, there are way too many parks to visit in just one day, thus I will only mention my favorite ones.
Named after Maxim Gorky this is one of the trendiest and most hipster-friendly areas in Moscow .
Originally opened in 1928 the park underwent a massive transformation that has turned it into a charming recreation ground with an open-air cinema theater, bicycle- and skate-rental spots, and contemporary public art projects.
If you visit the Russian capital in winter, make sure to pay this park a visit because it offers one of the best ice skating rinks in Moscow .
Kolomenskoye Park
Conveniently situated in the southeast of Moscow this huge park is both an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Heritage site .
With an impressive number of original buildings, churches, bell towers, and pavilions, Kolomenskoye dates back to the 14th century and the Ascension church to the mid-16th century.
It may take up to four hours to explore the area near the church so you can easily combine these two parks in one trip.
Day 3: Hidden Gems in Moscow
The patriarch ponds.
This tranquil and charming neighborhood next to Mayakovaskaya Metro station has long been known as the area popular with expatriates. However, only a handful of tourists make their way here .
I absolutely recommend visiting this tiny park especially if you’re a Bulgakov fan.
The residential area near the Patriarch Ponds is where the conversation between Berlioz, Ivan Bezdomny, and Woland has been situated by Mikhail Bulgakov in his popular novel “The Master and Margarita”.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
Situated not far from Moscow Zoo and the Embassy of Poland, this neo-Gothic Roman Catholic Church is one of the largest and most beautiful Catholic cathedrals in Russia .
Built in the early 20th century, the building has had a fairly complicated history. It was shut down and suffered terrible damage from aerial bombings during the Second World War but was restored in 1990.
These days you can attend one of the masses offered in a range of languages and enjoy classical music concerts free of charge in this lesser-known architectural gem.
There you have it – the perfect 3-Day Moscow Itinerary!
Tip: Save time and money by getting the 1, 2, or 3-day city pass in Moscow .
I can also highly recommend going on a guided tour if you want to learn more about Moscow or check out one of these activities in Moscow:
How To Get To Moscow’s City Center
With four international airports located not far from the city, there are many convenient ways to reach the city center from any of them.
Chances are you will arrive at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, or Vnukovo airport as only a handful of flights arrive at Zhukovsky airport.
The Aeroexpress train is the fastest (and my favorite) way to reach Moscow city center from the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, or Vnukovo airport. Trains run every 30 minutes between around 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. and cost around $7 USD (500 RUB) one way.
With frequent heavy traffic in Moscow, the train is definitely the best way to get to the city center at a predictable time.
But, if you travel on a tight budget, there is a way to save money on transportation . All airports are connected with the nearest subway station by bus. These are not that comfy but really cheap. You could travel for less than $3 USD one way.
Keep in mind, however, that if you choose to take the bus you’ll have to use the metro to get from the outskirts of Moscow to the center. Watch for bus 851 if you arrive at Sheremetyevo airport and bus 308 if you arrive at Domodedovo airport.
Getting Around in Moscow
Moscow’s ticketing system for their public transport can be confusing especially if you’ve never visited the city before and don’t speak Russian.
It is always good to remember that most stations and ticketing machines can get ridiculously crowded during peak hours.
I can’t recommend purchasing a Troika card enough when it comes to getting around. You can get a Troika card that is valid for 3 days for less than $7 USD, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to save money and avoid wasting time in line.
This reusable card allows you to use the Moscow metro, as well as Moscow’s Central Ring, busses, trams, and trolley busses. There is no limit to the number of rides during the validity of your card.
How to get the Troika card: you can buy this card at any metro kiosk.
While they do have English announcements in the metro on most lines, signs at Metro stations are often written only in Russian. Getting a printed copy of the metro map might come in handy to overcome the language barrier and find your way around.
Where to Stay in Moscow
When you’re planning a 3-day Moscow itinerary, you’ll find out there are literally thousands of places to stay.
Accommodation in Moscow ranges from luxury hotels to budget hostels that often have both shared facilities and private rooms.
To save on accommodation I recommend using the Ostrovok hotel booking engine. They often offer better deals on hotels in Moscow than websites like Booking.com.
If you’re looking for budget hotels in Moscow, I recommend 999 Gold Hotel and Orange House Hotel near the Victory Park.
Airbnb and Couchsurfing are also popular in Moscow and most of the hosts speak English well.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Moscow!

Going to visit Moscow next week as I don’t know much about it so I was looking for a blog to know the best things to do there. Thanks for this information as now I know what to do there.
Hey, Alyson!
Moscow is a wonderful city to visit at any time of the year! I visited it both in winter and summer and every season has its appointed uses and advantages.
Gorky Park is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Moscow and it can be easily reached by metro because things have evolved. Now they do have most of the signs (including the ones on the floor) written in English, so chances are you won’t get lost in the metro the way you could several years ago!
We did this 20 years ago! This takes me right back. Moscow was the first stop of our first RTW. We did all of the above but it was winter, snow on the ground. I loved Gorky Park, so atmospheric, like a spy movie. We had to remember the shapes of the letters to find the right stations. It looks like nothing much has changed!
