Our Jeep Renegade rental allows you to chart your own path as you set out into the wilderness. You get to explore Denali on your own terms; stop when and where you want without feeling rushed. Adventure awaits you in the Denali region! From glacier-fed whitewater rivers to tremendous mountains that reach for the sky and to lush valleys carved during the last Ice Age, you will have plenty to explore during your day. Our 4-door, 5-seat Jeeps will be the perfect vehicle as you and your group take off in search of wonderment and wildlife. Your Jeep will be equipped with a GPS to help you navigate the backcountry byways during your journey. Designed for safety and comfort, not only will you have fun driving these around, but you can rest assured you'll be prepared for whatever roads you find. From your courtesy pick-up at your Denali hotel, our team will provide you with a local map and souvenir guidebook which details the historic roadways, unique points of interest, and local attractions. Based on your personal interests, we can suggest several different routes for you to help you plan your adventure. TO BOOK: Jeep can seat up to 5 guests. Things You Need to Know

Requirements:

• Guests should dress in layers to plan for Alaskan weather.
• All drivers must be 25+ years of age and present a valid driver's license.
• A liability waiver, rental contract, and "full coverage" insurance are required.
• Excluded: 10% Alaska Vehicle Rental Tax
• Excluded: Denali National Park entrance fee (Optional $15 per person)
• Important notes: - Guests must provide a credit card in the same name as their driver's licenses. - 10% Alaska Vehicle Rental Tax is payable on the day of your tour. - Proof of full coverage auto insurance is required. Guests must show or purchase insurance coverage to cover damage and have a vehicle policy that covers liability. - This tour is intended to allow guests to experience seldom-visited locations and backcountry byways, but traveling off established roadways is not permitted. - Combining multiple itineraries and/or creating your itinerary is permitted. - Due to federal regulations by the National Park Service, vehicles on the Denali Park Road itinerary are only permitted to drive the first 15 miles of the National Park Road.

Duration: 4.25-4.5 hours (Roundtrip transportation to and from most Denali hotels, lodges and campgrounds.)

• 4 hours - self-guided driving exploration

Meeting Instructions:

• This tour meets at your hotel. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

• This tour is limited mobility and wheelchair accessible. This tour is a self-guided adventure. Drivers must be able to operate a standard passenger vehicle and have a valid driver's license. Guests participating as passengers have no restrictions and there is space for collapsible wheelchairs and walkers. Please leave a comment during checkout if accommodations for collapsible equipment will be required on tour.

• You may cancel for any reason up to seven (7) days prior to the date of the tour for a full refund.

Tours can be canceled for any reason up until seven (7) days prior to the date of the tour for a full refund unless otherwise noted on the individual tour product page in the Things to Know section. To cancel a tour, please use the cancelation request link within your e-ticket that was emailed to you OR send an email to  [email protected] with the following information:

- Order number

- Tour you are canceling

- Number of passengers you wish to cancel

Within 0-7 days before the tour date, cancelations are eligible for a full refund only in the following scenarios:

- The tour is canceled by the tour operator for any reason (for example: bad weather or mechanical issue)

- You experience a medical emergency during this window and can provide documentation (documentation must be submitted within 30 days to receive a refund)

- Your ship changes port itineraries causing you to miss an excursion

All refunds are processed through Alaska Shore Excursions, and will not be processed through any cruise line or local tour provider. Refunds will appear under Alaska Shore Excursions on your bank/credit card statement. Credit card refunds are processed within 10 business days of the request. We had an amazing adventure during our self guided tour of Denali National Park on August 23. It was wonderful to be able to take our time to view the beauty and wildlife of the park. We finished our day at the Denali National Park Visitor Center enjoying the displays and films that were available. Accommodating, awesome, adventurous! Thank you Unplugged guys for an outstanding, one-of-a-kind Jeep adventure around the jewel of Juneau and North Douglas island. Great stops and narration along the way. If in Juneau, go Unplugged!

Worth the price, very reliable on directions and places to see. Clean and efficient check in and check out process. Friendly staff that provided more local recommendations. Wish we had know we could rent directly through them versus the cruise ship.

Ok so this review is so well deserved. My wife and I visited Alaska for the very first time on a cruise. We pulled into Juneau and the cute little town is full of shops etc. we wanted to see the real sights so we asked a local what to do. She said rent a Jeep and drive and we are so thankful she did! This new small business rents you a brand new Jeep with the coolest app it gives you multiple scenic trips to try with approximate times it will take and then as you go to these spots it talks to you explaining where you are, the history behind each spot etc. without them we would have been stuck doing the same things everyone else is doing. Unplugged allowed us to see the real Alaska and at a very small cost! They rented us the Jeep so fast I think it was like 5 minutes max and we were on our way. I would like to thank you unplugged for allowing us to make memories we will never forget and highly recommend to anyone who wants to get out of the tourist trap and truly see the last frontier! AMAZING!! This is a super fun, cost effective way to get to see everything in Juneau & the surrounding area. You get a Jeep, a fully loaded iPad guide with awesome history & stories and then get to go anywhere you want at your own pace. Total Captain America experience and far, far cheaper and faster than doing multiple tours!! LOVED IT!!!

100% will do this a few times this summer!!! I work in the Jewelry stores up the street and I had my day off and took complete advantage of my day off with the this!!! I even want to pay to have the app on my cell phone just for learning about Juneau the Audio tour is amazing!!! They really took time and a ton of effort into making the app and it proves it. HONESTLY when I first heard about it I thought it was going to be a basic video guidance but man the GPS system is amazing!!! Little updates can help like zoom feature to check the rest of the route over the map but it's awesome even has MUSIC when there is no interesting tour to talk about.

I honestly think it's the best way to go see the glaciers and stop at all the location that you would normally do on a tour bus.( not crowded, your time, your music) Great price especially if you are a large family rates are around $275 jeep rental for four hrs... they do offer discounts for people on the cruises. The employees are great I hope that they are added to the cruise line as a tour.. the weather canceled our dog sledding but luckily we found this place!!!!! They also gps that is programmed locations

Great experience. Don't book a Jeep tour on the cruise ship - book here right at the dock. The iPad tour guide was very informative and the ability to spend as much or as little time at each stop was a huge plus as was the ability to stop and get a great wildlife picture whenever the opportunity arose.

What a great idea. Drive yourself Jeep tour. Comfortable,new Jeep. It has a ipad installed with many different tours that you can choose from. It is hard wired through the stereo which is wonderful for all passengers to be able to listen to the tour information. Highly recommend this excursion. We were able to go where we wanted to and at our pace. We even did some Walmart shopping after a Starbucks run !!!

These guys are absolutely amazing ! They showed my family of 5 true Alaskan hospitality! 5 stars highly recommend!

Hello, all.

In September, we are doing a 12 day’er to Alaska on the Royal Princess.  Juneau has an excursion for $309 called the Interactive Self-Guided Jeep Tour.  I like the sound of it, but I don’t know if this makes sense given that there is a fair amount of rain in September.  Has anyone done this tour in either rain or shine....I would appreciate any input.  Thanks!

It will be interesting to see feedback from others who have done this.   Rain aside, at least on the surface it seems that since rental cars can be had for about $100 in Juneau that you’re paying $200 for the digital GPS guide which can be done on your own with a little planning.

Thank you, Glaciers.  Hoping for more input as I now have the same thought you do.  Am I really just renting a Jeep and a GPS for $300???

I am also booked in September for this excursion (different ship). It sounds like fun. I drive a car every day, so driving a GPS-guided Jeep (hopefully with the top down!) will be a new experience. Rain or shine.

A rental car may be less expensive, but I already know what it's like to drive one. The Jeep will be something new, different, and potentially more exhilarating. If not the latter, at least it will be new and different.

Regarding weather in Juneau, it is impossible to predict.

Final Update:

Well, the cruise is done and for anyone who may have a similar question........

Initially, I was looking at the $309 Jeep rental through Princess.  But, we found Unplugged Tours for about another $120 (which included all gas and insurance).  For reasons I will explain, I thought the rental through Unplugged was a better deal than through Princess.  Unplugged is an easy walk from the ship, and for not much more you get the same Jeep for eight hours as opposed to four hours (Princess).  You are really paying for the ipad though.  The ipad is pre-programmed with a four, six, or eight hour tour.  We did the six hour tour and it took us eight hours after stops and eating in town.  The ipad never got us lost more than one street over, and it remained connected via satellite the entire day.  Also, as we would near a destination, the ipad knew it and gave a little tutorial/briefing on what we were about to see.  All in all, I liked it.  If you want to save cash, you could have done the exact same route by doing your own research and plugging the destinations into your phone.  BUT....cell coverage gets bad at the end of the road in Juneau.  Sooooo, it is a bit of a trade off.  Ultimately, I'm glad we did it, and driving around Juneau at our own pace was one of our favorite parts of the trip.  The extra four hours with Unplugged was a big deal.  There was a little rain, but it was a non-issue.  Last thought-the Jeep was cute, but not the least bit necessary.  Everywhere along the tour was paved enough that any car could have done it.

Each Jeep has three pre-selected route buttons to select from to guide you along our most highly recommended routes, including a few hidden photo opportunities you won’t want to miss, or you may prefer choosing your own itinerary.

There are many options for th ings t o d o on one our Jeep tours. You can visit the  Mendenhall Glacier, which is surrounded by beautiful hiking trails for folks of all skill level! Also visit the Shrine of Saint Therese, Gold Creek and Glacier Gardens, to name just a few of the fun and exciting things to do on an Unplugged Adventures Jeep excursion.

Most visitors to this area of Southeast Alaska won’t want to miss a visit to Auke Bay and Lake , which is an easy drive from downtown Juneau and one of the things to do on your Jeep tour that is well worth your time.

Unplugged Adventures goes the extra mile to make sure every minute you have with us is incredible. All self-guided Jeep tours include unlimited mileage, gas, insurance, use of the customized digital guide, and any equipment yo u may need (car seats, gold mining equipment, bear spray, etc.).

Interactive Self-Guided Jeep Adventure - 2 Door

• 4x4 Jeep Wrangler with unlimited mileage, fuel, interactive digital guide and insurance.
• Umbrellas, rain ponchos, gold panning equipment, infant/toddler seats.

Accessibility: Tour is ambulatory accessible. You must be able to take a few steps (up/down) and walk short distances. A collapsible wheelchair can be stored in the vehicle if the backseat is not used by a third/fourth passenger. Requirements & Restriction: Each party must have at least one licensed driver that is 25+ years of age with a physical valid driver’s license (photo/digital copies are not accepted). International driver’s licenses are accepted. What to Bring: Dress in layers. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Good to Know: The two-door Wrangler can seat up to four guests and has an automatic transmission. The third and fourth guest needs to be able to step through to the back seat. Each excursion is 4.5 hours and the tour operator will program four locations into the guide that is determined by weather and time of year. Guests are welcome to select alternate locations if they choose. The digital guide is mounted onto the dash for directions and audio plays through the vehicle's speaker system. Infant and toddler car seats are available without charge; please provide advanced notice if possible. Electric scooters require the cargo space of a 4-door. Hard-top vehicles are easier for loading wheelchairs and are limited so please request in advance if possible. Large car seats do not fit well in the back of the 2-door and a 4-door is recommended for guests with young children. Typically, guests may visit two other locations, which may include: Eagle Beach, Gold Creek, Douglas Island, Governor’s Mansion, DIPAC Salmon Hatchery, Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church or the end of the road. All recommended routes include Mendenhall Glacier and Shrine of St. Therese.

A short drive along the Gastineau Channel will take you to Mendenhall Glacier, one of North America’s most accessible glaciers. As a bonus, a leisurely walk along the Steep Creek Trail offers an added chance to possibly observe a bear in the forest.
