Anyone travelled with these companies at all? I found a thread but it was from a few years back and am wondering if anyone has any more recent experience?

Thanks in advance!

If by Go Russia you mean Peace Travel ( http://www.go-russia.com/ ) they still get rave reviews on the adoption group I belong to. They were great back in '04 when we used them and all indications are that they are still just as attentive.

  • TRUE Membership Plan

It's no secret that TRUE operates solely on membership dues

Over the past few years, TRUE, in line with the global community, has experienced a substantial surge in costs and expenses, spanning both internal and external factors. After a thorough re-evaluation, we restructured our membership levels and now present one, integrated, TRUE accreditation. It not only addresses cost challenges with efficiencies, but the new membership also includes a variety of upgrades and ongoing initiatives launched at the request of TRUE member agencies.

First, I feel it’s important to mention that over recent years, as with the entire global landscape, TRUE has experienced a substantial surge in costs and expenses, attributed to various internal and external factors. We absorbed the additional costs for as long as feasible, keeping the membership rates unchanged for many years. We have also employed innovative strategies to mitigate an increase. However, an adjustment in the membership rate remained necessary. We added a variety of upgrades to TRUE as well as new initiatives across the board that are being introduced on an ongoing basis with feedback from TRUE member agencies.

While there are other accreditation options may seem more affordable at first glance, no other accreditation offers the support, training, and networking opportunities provided by TRUE.

Advancing supplier goals remains a preeminent TRUE focus always. The TRUE team has been hard at work expanding our supplier partnerships and negotiating with suppliers to attain increased commission levels for our member agencies. Simultaneously, we collaborate closely with existing suppliers, streamlining the TRUE code acceptance and management process for swift commission disbursement directly to agencies. Beyond that, we continuously introduce distinctive opportunities for travel advisors through our supplier partners, including travel agent familiarization trips, in-person and online trainings, special promotions, and exclusive discounts.

New for 2023, TRUE members can now access the newly launched live Supplier Directory via your online Dashboard. This directory is updated on an ongoing basis for your ultimate convenience and features not only traditional hotels, resorts, cruise lines, and more, but also DMCs and specialty tour operators that may not be on other accreditations' supplier lists! Always keep in mind, of course, that even if a specific hotel property does not currently accept TRUE, you can likely book them through a wholesaler or other third party that accepts the TRUE code and will pay you commission.

  • Live and Interactive new "Office Hours" series presented in an open forum format over lunchtime lead by our Member Services where advisors can get real time answers and advice on any topic related to their travel business.
  • 1-to-1 Professional Consultation: We have made private consultations available with our Member Services team, conveniently offered through a scheduler link on our website
  • Educational Webinars -- Featuring trending topics and new technology and Marketing "How To's"
  • Monthly Supplier Training Webinars
  • PowerSolutions LIVE -- elevated with focused themes and expanded opportunities including our first event to be held outside the continental US that includes an agent FAM trip. With a sold-out program scheduled for later this month in Puerto Rico, we are currently developing more of these programs with FAMs for advisors.

Beyond all of these new programs, TRUE is revamping its Local Chapters including a Virtual Chapter with meetings to support members. Chapters meet in person and connect you with suppliers in your area. Plus, these are great opportunities to network with fellow TRUE members, connect with your local BDMs as well, and to review products and destinations.

This is just a glance of what’s new in 2023 with TRUE. We hope that this offers a different perspective on how TRUE membership has been designed and all that we bring you beyond any other type of accreditation – from the chance to have 25 advisors under one TRUE code; to supplier training, networking, and special commission offers; to expert support to grow your business – all offered exclusively by TRUE.

We welcome your feedback at any time. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] with input or ideas on prospective new programs that you may want to see as we continue advancing TRUE.

Review: Moscow Venture by A. K. Celer ★★★★

Moscow Venture

When John Baran learns that his friend and coworker has died under mysterious circumstances he’s determined to unearth the truth. This means he has to travel to Moscow where David Chernov was struck with the bizarre ailment.

In the summer of 1991, hardliners in Russia don’t want to see the breakup of the Soviet Union and will go to great lengths to stop Gorbachev from signing the new union treaty, even if that means overthrowing the communist leader. While Baran is in Moscow managing his company’s cellular network venture and trying to uncover what happened to his friend, he’s caught up in the middle of an unstable political and economic environment. Moscow is opening the doors to western companies, but not everyone welcomes them.

This is an old-fashioned spy novel that pits democracy against communism and is reminiscent of Ludlum and Clancy. While it’s hard to imagine a time without cell phones, it wasn’t all that long ago that people weren’t always connected via their phones. A lot has happened since 1991 and technology has advanced so much it’s hard to remember the pre-cell phone days.

The mystery of David’s death is only one aspect of the novel that adds to the heart-pounding drama. It’s also a race to see if Baran’s company can get their cell phone services up and running before the 1991 August coup. The reader knows how transformative this technology will be, but it’s written in such a way, that the reader forgets what it’s like today and is whisked away to a time before the world drastically changed: the end of the Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War, and the introduction of cellular services. Connecting all three is a masterful way of making for an exciting and original story.

Celer’s descriptions of Moscow right before the fall of the Soviet Union paints a terrifying picture of the instability, the threats, and the way of life behind the Iron Curtain. At times it’s hard to believe everything, such as the amount of listening devices in hotel rooms and homes, but given the type of society that developed during the climate of fear and turning others in for favors it’s not completely unimaginable. One may wonder if Celer actually lived in Moscow during this time. If he didn’t, he did an incredible amount of research to pen such a realistic account of a frightening time in Russia’s history.

This story is told from an American point of view and it’s clear that the main character isn’t a fan of the Soviet way of doing things. Given that the story takes place during the collapse of Gorbachev’s reign it’s not difficult to see the character’s side, but it may have helped to strike more of a balance between the two political and economic structures. The American way of doing things isn’t always the right way.

Moscow Venture is an interesting and unique addition to spy thrillers that takes place during the final stages of the Cold War.
