Celtic Thunder announces 50-city North American tour

I rish music group, Celtic Thunder have announced their latest North American tour, Odyssey. The tour will kick off in September 2024, and embark on a 50-city journey across North America.

The new production will blend tradition with innovation bringing forth an exciting show that pays homage to Celtic Thunder’s heritage while exploring a new musical realm. Fans can expect to hear new renditions of old classics, like Grace, Rare Olde Times, and Fields of Athenry.

Formed in Dublin in 2007, Celtic Thunder is a multi-dimensional musical and theatrical ensemble celebrated worldwide for their emotionally powerful performances and state-of-the-art productions. Billboard Magazine has named them the Top World Album Artist five times, and their albums consistently rank in the World Album Top 10.

The talent of each individual member of Celtic Thunder is illuminated by their performances as a group. Neil Byrne, Emmet Cahill, Damian McGinty, and Ronan Scolard all bring an extensive background in a number of genres, from folk, contemporary, soft rock, broadway, to classical.

The band completed a hugely successful US tour last Autumn, and are looking forward to getting back out onto the road and visiting some cities they haven’t yet. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the public on Friday March 22, through their official website.

Award-winning Irish singers Celtic Thunder have announced a return to North America later in 2023 supporting their most recent album 'Celtic Thunder Homeland . Their Odyssey tour takes place in October/November making stops in Waukegan, Warren, Nashville, Tysons, New York and Red Bank. The new outing follows up 2022's Ireland Tour which focused on their most fan-requested Irish and Celtic tracks from their extensive discography.

UPDATE: Tour dates have been extended into 2024 visiting additional markets like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Nashville, Fort Lauderdale, Westbury, Halifax, Moncton and Hamilton.

Celtic Thunder released their latest studio album 'Celtic Thunder Homeland on March 12th, 2021 via Green Hill Productions. Back in 2015, the Irish soloists launched their The Very Best of Celtic Thunder Tour across North America. Later the same year, their Christmas Symphony Tour was joined by a full symphony orchestra performing their 2013 album 'Christmas Voices' . Members currently include Neil Byrne, Emmet Cahill, Ryan Kelly and Damian McGinty along with the Celtic Thunder Band.

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts has announced the latest addition to the Kauffman Center Presents line-up, Celtic Thunder, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 7:30 p.m. in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre.

President and CEO Paul Schofer welcomes Celtic Thunder to the Kauffman Center. “Who doesn't enjoy an evening steeped in the gorgeous music and culture of Ireland with these world-renowned artists? Prepare to get your feet a ‘thumping and your hands a ‘clapping!”

About Celtic Thunder

In 2007, producer Sharon Browne embarked on an innovative project by filming the inaugural Celtic Thunder show at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland. The concept behind this groundbreaking endeavor was to assemble a group of talented men from Ireland and Scotland, spanning ages from 21 to 42, and curate a performance that celebrated their shared Celtic heritage.

The resulting show presented a captivating blend of musical genres, ranging from traditional Celtic tunes to international chart-toppers, interwoven with original compositions. The current lineup of Celtic Thunder comprises a diverse ensemble of performers, including Damian McGinty , Emmet Cahill , Neil Byrne and Ronan Scolard.

Each member of Celtic Thunder is a formidable talent, both in solo and ensemble performances. Since 2008, Celtic Thunder has released 17 shows on CD and DVD. By the end of 2023, they will have completed 15 coast-to-coast tours of the United States and Canada, as well as four tours of Australia, performing over 1000 shows and captivating millions of fans. Additionally, Celtic Thunder has ventured into the world of Entertainment Cruises, hosting five Caribbean cruises, each accommodating over 4,000 fans for a four-day musical extravaganza.

The impact of Celtic Thunder's music has earned them prestigious recognition, including being named BILLBOARD's Top World Music Artist five times, along with accolades for Top World Music Imprint and Top World Album in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2016. Irish music group Celtic Thunder is currently embarking on a 30-city tour of North America, bringing an exciting fusion of Irish music and culture to venues across the US. 

Celtic Thunder's Odyssey tour began in Minneapolis on October 5 and is scheduled to run for a further seven shows, culminating in a performance in the Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on Monday, November 13. 

The concerts offer a blend of Celtic folklore and contemporary Irish life, providing a perfect balance between tradition and modernity through creative set designs and detailed costumes.

The Odyssey tour is a theatrical experience delving into Celtic Thunder's legacy with a compelling blend of music, storytelling, and atmospheric stagecraft, providing audiences with an immersive experience. 

From the energetic rendition of "Go Lassie Go" to the moving tribute of "City of Chicago," audiences are treated to a tapestry of emotion and talent. 

The tour will be accompanied by the release of the Odyssey soundtrack album on November 24, which will feature 13 new songs in addition to classics such as "Grace" and "Will Ye Go Lassie Go."

The group is set to perform at Columbia County PAC in Evans, Georgia on Friday, November 3, before a performance at the Wilson Fine Arts Center in Wilmington, North Carolina on Sunday, November 5.

Celtic Thunder will then perform at Jefferson Center in Roanoke, Virginia, on Tuesday, November 7, before performing in Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia, on Thursday. 

The Odyssey tour then travels to Mayo PAC in Morristown, New Jersey, on Friday and to the Chevalier Theater in Medford, Massachusetts, on Saturday before its final date in New Jersey on November 13.

Listening to tight knit harmonies is something that I find incredibly relaxing when I’m at home listening to recordings, but in a live setting it’s absolutely electric and full of excitement. When I saw Celtic Thunder, the five piece male vocal group, perform, they were supported by a full strings orchestra, which made the while sound even more exciting and epic.

With twelve studio albums and a bunch of awards under their belt, I had no idea how they were going to be able to pick a set list to perform at their show. However, they played a wonderful selection of their tracks from over the years, from solo pieces with subtle backing vocals, to full ensemble pieces in five part harmony. Their dramatic lighting and use of choreography transported us in the audience into an entirely new world, and it was an experience that you could never get from simply listening to their recordings.

When they played Heartland, they got everyone in the audience to sing along, which was also really special. It was a theatrical performance like I’ve never seen before, and every single performer and instrumentalist on the stage was incredibly talented.

This was my first Celtic Thunder concert, and it was the most amazing and beautiful experience. The stage was set to look like a big pile of stones (lined in a way as to make it possible for people to walk on them of course). They started out with the haunting "Heartland", and fog/mist started to flow down the steps. The whole concert was likened to this. There was humor, haunting melodies, love songs, and all the old favorites. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and I highly encourage EVERYONE to go see it. It's family friendly and all people will enjoy the show.

As always Celtic Thunder was wonderful! What talented group of guys. This is the 2nd time I have seen them and it was fantastic. The seating was good and the Stiefel Theater in Salina, Kansas is a wonderful place to see a concert. What a surprise it was to get a free CD with the purchase of concert tickets.

I would recommend Celtic Thunder to anyone young and old alike. They are a special group to listen to and will keep you entertained all evening!

The Celtic Thunder Legacy show was AMAZING! First time I've ever heard a live performance should better than a 'doctored up' CD. Ryan & Neil cracked us up when they came on stage in wigs. Seven Drunken Nights was hilarious. The guys are obviously having a blast as they perform. My only complaint is the time flew by way too fast!

Amazing!!!!! Fantastic line up of songs, definitely would go for a repeat performance. Did not disappoint. Miss the sound of George's voice, but all of them still sound great together. Imagine what they could do with a larger stage.

Seeing Celtic Thunder in concert was a dream come true!! They performed even better live than their actual recordings! So much talent and the music just filled my soul! I will remember this experience forever!

Amazing show last night and I enjoy all the songs from Celtic Thunder and I like some of their new songs they did. My favourite song out of the bunch is seven drucken nights and breaking up is hard to do.
