I’m not an Indian but I visited all of these destinations and I agree, all of them can be covered in under one lakh. You did a great job of finding some great budget destinations for Indians. keep up the great work

All these destinations are relatively affordable, except perhaps for the UAE. That place is really expensive; one lakh won’t cut it. You should also add our country, the Philippines. It’s quite affordable here as well. Personally, we are interested in doing a Southeast Asian tour on some of the countries here. SEA is definitely within our budget.

Indonesia is my favourite inexpensive destination! I’ve been to most of these places and Thailand is usually one of the first countries an Indian visits, thanks to the cheap flights as well as visa free on arrival these days. The UAE (that’s where I live now) is also one of the most popular destinations to visit for most Indians. In fact, Indians make for the highest tourist population here, along with Chinese. I can’t believe I haven’t been to Hong Kong yet!

Indian tourists have been travelling with a vengeance. With the pandemic robbing us off two years worth of bucket list planning, it’s only fitting that come summer—suitcases are packed.

Interestingly, international travel seems to be big among Indians this year. A survey conducted by Airbnb from April 2022 found that 75 percent of Indians were keen on visiting other countries ‘in the foreseeable future’. And 34 percent of them intended to book tickets within six months (from then). Asia Pacific destinations like Australia , Thailand and Indonesia emerged the most likely destination choices.

While the thought of international travel is exhilarating, it does tend to burn a hole in your pocket. But what if we told you that you can visit a handful of countries with a pocket punch of (under) one lakh rupees?

Whether you’re wolfing down a steamy bowl of pho in the historic streets of Ho Chi Minh or strolling through the lantern-lit lanes of Hội An, Vietnam offers one big cultural feast. With airlines like Indigo and VietJet offering shorter and more direct routes between the Southeast Asian country and cities like Kolkata and Mumbai, flight tickets have become a whole lot cheaper. With its range of affordable accommodations, street food and public transport, Vietnam tops the list of countries that can be experienced within a one lakh rupees budget .

Krabi, Thailand.

Thailand has it all: pristine beaches, bustling street markets, countless islands and colourful tuk-tuks.
