Large, hard shell shipping cases come with various interiors including pick n pluck customizable foam, padded dividers, trekpak dividers, foam lined and empty. Most cases will have durable skate wheels and telescoping or tow handles for traveling convenience. They are heavy duty, waterproof, dust tight, crushproof and most are guaranteed for life. Sizes range from about 17 x 17 x 10 in. up to 30 x 26 x 15 in. interior dimensions. Think about buoyancy and depth capabilities.

When looking for a waterproof phone case, consider the buoyancy capabilities. You may want to look for a device with built-in floatation abilities or opt for a pouch with a lanyard to ensure your phone does not sink if it’s dropped while swimming or snorkeling.

Consider screen and camera accessibility

When you are planning for n an outdoor adventure such as camping, swimming, or kayaking, you may want to choose a waterproof phone case that has touchscreen capabilities so that you can access the phone features without taking it out of the case. Additionally, you may want to test that your waterproof phone case still takes high-quality photos and videos (with clear audio), so you can capture your memories without issue.

IP ratings grade the resistance of an enclosure to dust and liquids and consist of two numbers that rate the resistance to solids and liquids respectively. The higher the rating, the greater protection offered, so you should always look for underwater devices with high IP ratings.

It is important to test your case before using it in deep water as some waterproof phone cases and pouches are meant to protect from rain or splashes as opposed to full water submersion. Some cases have a depth maximum where at a certain depth you have a specific time to use the case before the waterproof protections have a probability of failing. Be sure to look for a high IP rating when choosing your case and test the case at home before taking it on vacation.
