Pearl Jam Announce Limited 2023 U.S. Tour Dates, Playing Most Places Twice

Pearl Jam have announced a limited run of 2023 U.S. tour dates, with nine shows booked in just five different cities.

The trek will begin on Aug. 31 in St. Paul, Minnesota and the band will perform a second night at this location on Sept. 2. From there, it's onward to Chicago in Illinois, Indianapolis in Indiana and two sets of stops in Texas — Fort Worth, then Austin.

Pearl Jam, who last released  Gigaton in 2020, will perform twice in each city except for Indianapolis. Inhaler, an alt-rock band from Dublin, Ireland, are set to open in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin, while support at the remaining stops will be announced in the coming weeks.

Per a press release, the group is making an effort to "protect fans' access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets."

Tickets will first be made available to members of the Pearl Jam Ten Club through an exclusive pre-sale right now, right here .

Other ticket-seekers will have to sign up for Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program from now until April 25 at 5PM PT in order to have the option to purchase tickets starting April 28 at 10AM venue local time.

Pearl Jam is hitting the road this year, and the band hopes fans can come along without breaking the bank.

On Thursday, the rock group announced its 2023 U.S. tour, commencing at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31. Pearl Jam said it is taking action to “continue to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets.”

The Grammy-winning group — comprised of Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder — opted to “make tickets non-transferable where permitted” and will sell “approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs.”

The announcement continued: “Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

Nontransferable tickets make it less likely that buyers can flip their tickets for a profit by selling to third-party sites and scalpers.

Fans can register for Ticketmaster ‘s Verified Fan program before tickets go on sale on April 28 at 10 a.m. local time. Current Pearl Jam Ten Club members have access to the ticket presale.

Additionally, the band said it will implement “all-in pricing across this tour” in its ticket sales. This means that prices listed on Ticketmaster will include all processing fees “so there are no surprises at check out.”

In a statement shared with The Times Friday, Ticketmaster said it supports Pearl Jam’s efforts to be more transparent about ticket prices.

“Pearl Jam has always advocated on behalf of their fans and we hope more artists, teams and venues follow their lead and start using the all-in pricing display available on Ticketmaster,” Ticketmaster said. “It would be better for fans if all-in pricing was mandated nationally, but in the meantime we created the all-in display option to help fans see the full costs upfront.”

Pearl Jam’s latest efforts to be transparent with its ticket sales and limit reselling come months after music fans took Ticketmaster to court.

In December 2022, Taylor Swift fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster’s parent company, Live Nation Entertainment Inc., for alleged fraud, price-fixing and antitrust law violations while selling advance tickets to Swift’s Eras Tour.

An investigation by the Department of Justice and a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing rife with Swift lyrics followed a month later.

Pearl Jam has had its own issues with Ticketmaster. The quintet clashed with the platform several times over ticket fees in the 1990s.

As part of its U.S. tour, Pearl Jam will make stops in Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth and Austin, Texas. Rock band Inhaler will join Pearl Jam for its shows in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

“We can’t wait to see you out there,” the band wrote.

Pearl Jam has announced a slew of new 2023 US tour dates, which will kick off in Minneapolis in August.

The iconic grunge band will perform nine shows in August and September, making stops in St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin. It will be joined by special guests Inhaler as support for the dates in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Austin, with the opening act for the other shows to be announced in the coming weeks.

With the new tour dates, Pearl Jam will try to protect fans by giving access to fairly priced tickets, the majority of which will be provided to members of its Ten Club fan club. Tickets will be non-transferable in all states except Illinois, where it is prohibited by law. In a press release, the band apologized to fans in the state “who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

‘Get Your Wings’: Aerosmith’s Classic Second Album

PJ Premium tickets will also be sold, with those seats located in a variety of preferred locations and will account for approximately 10 percent of the ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available through a Verified Fan sale, along with regularly priced tickets.

The 2023 US tour marks the first time Pearl Jam will use all-in pricing, which means the ticket price listed is the full out-of-pocket price inclusive of fees.

A special pre-sale for members of the Ten Club who held membership on April 19, 2023, will begin today. General public tickets will then be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration. The registration window is open now through 5pm PT on April 25 –  you can register here . The Verified Fan sale will then begin on April 28 at 10am local time.

Last year, Pearl Jam committed to addressing its carbon footprint as a touring band with an initiative that saw the band pledging to pay $200 per ton of CO2 used on its Gigaton tour. Globally, the carbon offset market varies, but the average amount paid per ton of CO2 is between $1-15.

Pearl Jam have announced their first tour dates of 2023. The U.S. shows take place in August and September. Find the band’s itinerary below.

Pearl Jam are continuing to tour in support of 2020’s Gigaton . Following pandemic -induced delays , the band managed to get back on the road last year for shows in North America and Europe.

Beyond the Pearl Jam dates, Eddie Vedder will perform at his music festival, Ohana Festival, on Saturday, September 30, in Dana Point, California.

Pearl Jam With Special Guest Inhaler

Pearl Jam is heading out on tour with special guests Inhaler in support of their new album "Gigaton" and bringing the show to the United Center on September 5 & 7, 2023!

The following approved process will be implemented at the United Center for the General Admission (GA) pit:

• WRISTBAND DISTRIBUTION TIMES: At 9 a.m. on show day, guests will receive a numbered wristband. This represents the order they will be lined up in to access the GA area. Numbered wristbands will be distributed until 4:30 pm.
• WHO NEEDS A NUMBERED WRISTBAND:  Please note that numbered wristbands are only required if a guest would prefer to have first access to the standing room floor. A numbered wristband is not needed if a guest doesn't have a preference on where they will stand on the floor.
• LOCATION: Fans will only receive wristbands from a credentialed United Center security employee at Gate 5.
• LEAVING PRIVILEGES: Once the wristband is received, guests are free to leave and return to Gate 5 no later than 4:30 p.m.
• RETURNING TIME: All guests with a wristband must return to the United Center and be lined up in order by 4:30 p.m. to have wristband number honored.
• LATE ARRIVAL: If a guest with a numbered wristband arrives after 4:30 p.m., the guest will be placed in line after the last guest in line. Guests without wristbands arriving after 4:30 pm will also be placed in line after the last guest in line.
• ONE PROCESS: This is the only process approved for GA entry. No additional arrangements can be honored at this time.

**Please note- you must have your ticket to obtain a wristband and only one wristband per person.

** All guests with general admission tickets must enter though Gate 5.

Take I-55 North to the Damen exit and make a left, going northbound for approximately 7 minutes. The building will be on your right.

Take Madison Street west from the Loop.

Take I-290 East to exit 28A (Damen Avenue). Take Damen Avenue north to Madison Street. Make a right onto Madison Street and the building will be on your right.

Public Transportation

Take the Orange, Green, Purple, or Brown lines to Madison. Take #20 Madison buses west.

To the United Center : The #19 United Center Express Bus runs on game days. Service begins 90 minutes prior to game time, runs every 10 minutes until 30 minutes until start of game. Board at stops starting southbound on Michigan and Randolph. Connections are made with Metra trains at Millennium Station, Ogilvie Center and Union Station. The #20 Madison Bus travels west on Madison Street, starting downtown at Wabash Street and runs every few minutes, making all stops to the United Center.

From the United Center : The #19 United Center Express and the #20 Madison buses run every few minutes, departing from the eastbound side of Madison Street. Buses make all stops.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking lots and Uber lot open to public two and a half hours prior to event time.

Suites Parking

Two reserved parking passes will be valid in lots C and K. The other two reserved parking passes will be for parking in lots A, B, D, or L. Holders of these passes will be directed to A, B, D, or L lots by traffic police and parking attendants based on traffic conditions. Parking passes are good for one space each. All parking passes are mobile entry only.

For all special events, each Executive Suite Holder will receive two complimentary parking passes per event ordered. These two passes will be for reserved parking located in lots C and K. In addition, Executive Suite Holders will also receive the option to purchase four additional parking passes in lots C and K for special events.

Suite Holder parking passes are also valid for buses or limousines under specific guidelines.

Lexus Club Parking

Lexus Club Seat members have reserved parking in fenced, well-lit and clearly marked parking lots adjacent to the United Center for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. All Lexus Club members who purchase tickets to other events may also purchase one preferred parking pass (in lot C or K) for such events. Details on how to obtain parking for other events are included with the fax transmission announcing each event.

Lexus Club Seat members with two to four tickets receive a complimentary, reserved parking space in a closed-in, paved lot for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. Lexus Club Seat members with five seats or more will be provided with two parking passes.

UBER ZONE FAQs:

What is the Uber Zone (Lot E) at the United Center? To increase and streamline the fan experience for guests who take Uber to and from the United Center, the new Uber Zone is located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street (Lot E) and will combine the three former Uber locations around the arena. Traffic leading to the three prior Uber pickup locations 1) Zone A, previously located on Wood Street & Washington Blvd. near Lot A, 2) Zone D, previously located on Monroe Street & S. Paulina Street near Lot D and 3) Zone F, previously located on Monroe Street & Seeley Ave. near Lot F will now be directed towards the one new Uber Zone in Lot E.

What is the location of the Uber Zone? The new Uber Zone at the United Center is located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Fans will enter and exit through the sidewalk entrance located on Madison Street and cars will enter the lot by turning into the Uber Zone from Madison Street. Cars will exit on Warren Blvd.

What are the hours of operation? On event days, the Uber Zone is open two hours prior to games, concerts and events and will remain open up to one hour after each event. On non-event days, the Uber Zone will be closed and Uber rides will be dropped off near the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street outside of the Uber Zone.

What is the pickup process for fans?

• Using the Uber app, fans inside the United Center will call an Uber ride.
• Guests will then head to the new Uber Zone located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street in front of the United Center.
• When arriving, fans will show the Uber attendant the lane number their driver is in.
• Fans will be shown the location where their Uber vehicle is located to start their next journey.

What is the dropoff process for fans? When Uber drivers arrive with guests at the United Center, they will be instructed to pull into the Uber Zone from the Madison Street side to drop off fans. Once exiting the vehicle, guests will walk out of the main entrance located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Guests can cross the street to the United Center and are encouraged to enter through the East Atrium.

Pearl Jam is using Ticketmaster Request to power this fan club presale. Ticketmaster Request is a simple way to request tickets to popular shows, so you don’t have to compete in a first-come, first-served sale. You can take your time to review the available options and request the right tickets for you. All you need to do is tell us which show(s) you’re interested in, the type of ticket you want and your payment details. If tickets that match your request are available, your card will be charged, and we’ll email you instructions on how to claim them. Note: each show you are confirmed for will be charged separately by Ticketstoday; the charge will appear as Ticketstoday*Pearl Jam.

How does the Ten Club ticket request work?

Complete your request in three easy steps. First, tell us what shows and tickets you’re interested in. Then, provide a credit card to complete your ticket request. If your request is fulfilled, your card will be charged and we’ll email you a confirmation with instructions on how to claim your tickets during the week of April 24. Note: Tickets will not show in your Ticketmaster account until all seating assignments are finalized.

How do I unlock access to the Ten Club ticket request?

Eligible Ten Club members will receive an email from Ten Club with the info. You can also find the presale info on the Member News page. The Ten Club ticket request is for eligible Ten Club members only with active membership accounts as of Wednesday, April 19, 2023.  

Is there a cutoff date to become a Ten Club member for the ticket request?

Yes. All fans must be a Ten Club paid member, current as of Wednesday, April 19, 2023. However, all fans can register for the Verified Fan Onsale — tap here to get started.

Can I request tickets for more than one city?

Yes. By submitting a ticket request for any show, you are committing to purchase the ticket(s) should your request be fulfilled. For example, if you enter for five shows, it is possible your request can be fulfilled for all five shows in which case your credit card will immediately be charged for tickets to all five shows. However, you can only purchase up to two Ten Club tickets for each individual show. All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable.

*Does not apply to shows in Illinois.

How will tickets be determined for Ten Club members?

To level the playing field, ticket requests are fulfilled in a randomized selection process while still considering show priority.

What types of ADA Seating are available?

ADA seating locations will vary by venue.  There is no ADA seating in the GA PIT at any of the shows.

Can I transfer or sell tickets I can’t use?

All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable.

Pearl Jam has asked Ticketmaster to ensure their fans have access to tickets at face value and to achieve this they have directed that tickets be restricted from transfer.* On the night of the show, all guests will be required to enter with the ticket purchaser. For fans that can’t use the tickets they have purchased, Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster will offer a Face Value Ticket Exchange for every city beginning at a later date. Fans outside of the U.S. who sell their tickets on the Face Value Exchange may receive a delayed payment by check. What should I do if I’m buying tickets for a show in Illinois?

Illinois has laws that prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets. For shows in this state, Pearl Jam strongly encourages fans to choose to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges — including Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my ticket request?

We’re here to help. Contact Ten Club’s Ticketmaster Presale Support at [email protected] . When emailing, be sure to include your receipt number and the name listed on your request summary.

I need to adjust my Ten Club ticket request, what should I do?

To adjust any part of your request, a new request must be submitted. To do so, tap here to go back to the site, sign in and submit a new request. We’ll only keep the details of your last submission. The deadline to submit a new or updated request is Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. PT.

Can I cancel my ticket request?

Yes, requests can be canceled via the ‘My Requests’ page, located in the menu in the top right corner of the request page. If you place a new request, your previous request will be canceled automatically. Requests may be canceled until Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. PT.

What is the maximum number of tickets I can request per show?

Ten Club members may request up to two (2) tickets per show for this tour. When shopping for tickets during the Verified Fan Onsale, you may purchase up to four (4) tickets per show.

When will you charge my card?

Charges will begin on Monday, April 24 and end on Tuesday, April 25 — you will only be charged if your request is fulfilled. To avoid declined transactions, please make sure your card has available funds to cover your maximum total.

As a reminder: Ten Club has secured the majority of tickets for this presale. Your request may be fulfilled for ALL the shows you selected, at which point you will be charged for the maximum total provided in your summary. Each show you are confirmed for will be charged separately by Ticketstoday; the charge will appear as Ticketstoday*Pearl Jam.

I submitted duplicate requests by accident. What should I do?

We’ll only keep the details of your last submission. If you’d like to adjust any part of your ticket request, a new request must be submitted. To do so, tap here to go back to the site, sign in, and submit a new request. The deadline to submit new or updated requests is Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. PT.

Can I confirm my seats before my credit card is charged? What if I don’t like the tickets I get?

Once your request has been fulfilled, we will immediately process your credit card and assign seats. Reserved Seating is based on Ten Club seniority in the fan club. Please do not request tickets for any cities, shows, or seat preferences that you do not actually wish to purchase. Please note: All sales are final. All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable. Tickets restricted from transfer does not apply to shows in Illinois.

I’m having trouble getting past the Ticketmaster sign in on the Ten Club ticket request site.

If you are successfully entering your email address and password but not allowed to continue, please make sure that your browser settings allow 3rd party cookies. Please be sure to use the link sent to you via email or on the Ten Club Member News page.

If my request is confirmed, how will I get my tickets?

Ticket confirmations will be sent out on a show-by-show basis over the course of two days, beginning Monday, April 24 and ending Tuesday, April 25. Please follow the Ten Club presale timeline for updates. If your request is fulfilled, we will notify you by email and immediately charge the credit card you provided. Additionally, we will email you instructions on how to view your tickets during the week of April 24. Note: Tickets will not show in your Ticketmaster account until all seating assignments are finalized.

My credit card got charged but I haven’t received an email confirming my order yet, what should I do?

Please do a search in your email for Ticketstoday or [email protected]. Also your credit card company may be slightly ahead. We will notify you by email of your ticket request status and next steps. If you don’t receive your confirmation details within 24 hours, please email Ten Club’s Ticketmaster Support at [email protected] . Please be sure to include your receipt number and the name listed on the request summary. Note: Tickets will not show in your Ticketmaster account until all seating assignments are finalized.

Is Ticketmaster Request for Ten Club members only?

What is the Verified Fan Onsale?

Pearl Jam is using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology to ensure more tickets get into the hands of concertgoers. Verified Fan requires registration, ahead of the Onsale to help filter out buyers looking to resell tickets, and instead get them to fans who are going to attend the show.

If I used Ticketmaster Request can I also request additional tickets through the Verified Fan Onsale?

Yes. You are also encouraged to register for the Verified Fan Onsale for an additional opportunity to get tickets for the 2023 U.S. Tour. The Verified Fan Onsale takes place on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time, after all confirmed Ten Club requests have been processed. Registration does not guarantee ticket access. Registration is now open and will close on Tuesday, April 25 at 5 p.m. PT.

What happens if my ticket request is not confirmed?

If you’d like to have another opportunity to shop for tickets, register for the Verified Fan Onsale. Fans who are invited to the Verified Fa n Onsale will be provided a unique access code to shop for tickets on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time. Are international fans able to request tickets?

Yes, international fans who create a Ticketmaster.com account can submit a Ten Club ticket request. However, we may limit the availability of the Site or any service or product described on the Site to any person or geographic area at any time. Pearl Jam Onsale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan®

Artists choose to use Verified Fan to give their fans a better chance at buying tickets by creating an extra line of defense against bots and professional resellers who are looking to sell tickets for profit. The process includes three steps:

Step 1: Registration

By registering for a Verified Fan Onsale, you are letting us know that you’re interested in purchasing tickets. From the registration page, you sign in to your account, select your preferred show(s) and register your email and phone number. Once completed, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email letting you know that we got your request. It’s quick, easy and free to sign up.

Step 2: Verification

Next, Ticketmaster vets each request by confirming it belongs to an individual — not a bot — and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale.

Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist

When demand exceeds availability, a lottery-style process will determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code for the sale, and which are put on a waitlist. You’ll receive an email the day prior to the ticket sale letting you know which group you’re in.

• Access Code : If you receive an access code, it will be sent via text message. It is unique to your account, and will not work if anyone else enters it — do not try to sell or trade your code. Do not buy codes from anyone else. 
• Waitlist : If tickets remain, we may text you an access code to join the ticket sale. The lottery-style process will be used to determine who gets off the waitlist.

While it doesn’t guarantee that all Verified Fans will get tickets, it does significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale.

Common Questions

When is the verified fan registration period.

T he registration period is Thursday, April 20 at 10 a.m. PT — Tuesday, April 25 at 5 p.m. PT.

How many shows can I register for?

You may register for up to 9 shows. When doing so, please be sure to rank your show preferences in order from highest to lowest.

If selected, you’ll be invited to purchase for up to 9 of the shows you’ve ranked. If demand for tickets from Verified Fans exceeds supply, a lottery-style process to determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code and which fans are placed on the waitlist.

Can I register more than once to increase my invitation status?

Only one registration is required, and registering more than once won’t increase your opportunity to receive an invitation. If after you’ve registered, you want to change the dates you selected, just come back and register with your new picks. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

If I edit my registration more than once, will I be disqualified?

No, you won’t be disqualified. If you edit your registration more than once to correct a mistake, such as changing the show you previously selected, we only keep the last registration that you submitted.

I received a registration confirmation email, does that mean I will get tickets?

No, registration does not guarantee tickets. The registration confirmation email is simply to inform you that we have received your information and will be working to verify your account.

A second email will be sent the day before the Verified Fan Onsale letting you know if you will receive a unique access code or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist.

When will I receive an email letting me know if I’ll receive a unique access code or be placed on the waitlist?

On the evening of Thursday, April 27, you’ll receive an email confirming whether you’ve been verified and whether you’ve also been selected to participate in the Verified Fan Onsale. If you are verified and selected, you will also receive a text with your personal access code.

When submitting my registration, I received a six-digit authentication code from Ticketmaster. Can I use this code to purchase tickets during the Verified Fan Onsale?

No, that code was sent to you to verify your phone number at registration. It is not a unique Verified Fan code and cannot be used to purchase tickets.

Does registering mean I get a Verified Fan access code?

No. Registration for Verified Fan allows Ticketmaster to authenticate your account and places your request into a lottery-style process to determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code and which fans are placed on the waitlist. Access to tickets is not guaranteed.

If you’re selected, you’ll receive a unique access code and link to the sale via text message. If you aren’t selected, you’ll be automatically placed on a waitlist and may be invited to join the sale if tickets remain.

Does getting an access code mean I will get tickets?

No. Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to join the sale. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis so they may sell out.

When is the Verified Fan Onsale?

The Verified Fan Onsale will begin on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time.

If I am selected, how long do I have to shop for tickets?

While we suggest you purchase as soon as you are able, we understand there may be some planning involved.

What is the ticket limit?

The ticket limit for the Verified Fan Onsale is four (4) tickets per show.

What is PJ Premium?

PJ Premium seats are located in a variety of preferred locations and account for approximately 10% of ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available through Verified Fan along with regularly priced tickets.

How can I get the seating map in advance?

Seating options vary depending on the event or venue and in some cases may not be available until tickets go on sale. Visit the event page on Ticketmaster to learn more about seating options and maps.

How will I know if I move off the Waitlist?

Keep your phone close by as your text notification can come at any time after the sale begins. When notified, you’ll receive a text message that has the link to the sale and contains your unique access code. You’ll also want to closely watch your email just in case there are text delivery issues such as an incorrectly entered number or blocked carriers. In that case we’ll email your access code details to the address you use for your Ticketmaster account.

Pearl Jam Map Out 2023 U.S. Tour

Today, Pearl Jam announced they’ll hit the road this fall with nine shows across the United States. During they’ll travels, the band will perform several multi-night runs giving select cities ample time to enjoy their sound.

Pearl Jam will kick their tour off at the MN Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31 and again on Sept. 2. They’ll then head to Chicago for two nights at the United Center on Sept. 5 and 7, followed by a stop at Indianapolis’ Ruoff Music Center on Sept. 10. Next they’ll head south to Fort Worth, Texas for performances on Sept. 13 and 15 at the TX Dickies Arena. Their travels will culminate with two nights at Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sept. 18 and 19.

They’ll enjoy support from a special TDA guest during their stops in St. Paul and Fort Worth, who’ll be announced in the coming weeks. Notably, Irish rock band originating from Dublin, Inhaler will open for Pearl Jam in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

A special ticket pre-sale for Pear Jam’s fan club, Ten Club, opened for eligible members on April 19, while Ticketmaster Verified Fan registration began today at 10 a.m. PT and closes on April 25 at 5 p.m. PT. Pearl Jam has announced a short tour for late summer and early fall of 2023, playing nine arena shows in five cities in August and September. Perhaps not surprisingly with a group long known for its careful attention to ticket practices, the explanation of how the band will be handling the ticket sales runs much longer than the actual list of tour dates. (See the full list of shows below.)

Ticketmaster praised Pearl Jam for using the all-in pricing model, saying in a statement to Variety : “Pearl Jam has always advocated on behalf of their fans and we hope more artists, teams and venues follow their lead and start using the all-in pricing display available on Ticketmaster. It would be better for fans if all-in pricing was mandated nationally, but in the meantime we created the all-in display option to help fans see the full costs upfront.”

The announcement about the tour dates had Pearl Jam staking its position on other controversial ticketing practices, as well. The use of “platinum” — i.e., dynamically priced — tickets came to the forefront after some of Bruce Springsteen’s 2023 tickets reached astronomical face-value heights, and Taylor Swift rejected the use of platinum pricing on her own tour. Pearl Jam is using the platinum system — here called “PJ Premium” seats — but the announcement emphasizes that only 10% of tickets will be part of that program, and that these tickets help subsidize lower prices for the other 90%.

To avoid scalping, tickets will also be non-transferable, as well, except in Illinois. The band said that the majority of tickets will end up in the hands of members of its Ten Club fan club via a presale.

The tour begins Aug. 31 in St. Paul and ends Sept. 19 in Austin, with stops between in Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth.

“Pearl Jam continues to try to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets,” read the statement. “PJ Premium seats are located in a variety of preferred locations and account for approximately 10% of ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available through Verified Fan along with regularly priced tickets.”

The announcement added: “Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.” And: “Pearl Jam will use all-in pricing across this tour for the first time. This means the ticket price listed is the full out-of-pocket price inclusive of fees so there are no surprises at checkout.”

Pearl Jam Launches 2023 Tour: Videos, Set List

Pearl Jam played their first show of 2023, kicking off a short tour with a performance on Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

The band played the first five songs of the night seated, opening with the Vs. track "Indifference" for the first time in nearly 30 years. They ditched the stools for the next 19 tracks, which included covers of Tom Petty 's "Wildflowers" and Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary" in addition to set list staples such as "Black" and "Yellow Ledbetter."

The gig marked Pearl Jam’s first concert in about a year. The band wrapped their 2022 tour last September in Denver.

Where Is Pearl Jam Playing Next?

Pearl Jam’s 2023 tour will continue with a second St. Paul performance, followed by stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Ft. Worth and Austin. In total, the band will play nine shows during their brief trek.

Frontman Eddie Vedder has tacked on some additional solo dates in the fall. He will headline day two of the Ohana Festival on Sept. 30 at Southern California’s Doheny State Beach. Foo Fighters , the Pretenders , the Killers and the War on Drugs are among the other artists playing at the three-day event. Vedder is one of the founders of the Ohana festival, which has been held annually since 2016.

Is Pearl Jam Working on New Music?

Pearl Jam have been in the studio with producer Andrew Watt , working on the follow-up to 2020’s Gigaton .

“Andrew is a total character,” guitarist Stone Gossard noted in 2022. “Really, like immediately, we were writing quickly – spontaneously. Bring in a riff. 'Let's knock it out.'”

More recently, Gossard revealed that the new album was “getting closer and closer” to being finished. “It’s gonna be a good one,” he said, adding that Watt is “the most hardcore Pearl Jam fan you’ll ever meet. He can play all of our songs and all of Soundgarden ’s songs back at us — better than we can play them!”

Rock legends PEARL JAM will hit the road in August and September performing nine shows across St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth and Austin. Pearl Jam continues to try to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. Additionally, Pearl Jam recently announced they will release Give Way — featuring live tracks from their 1998 concert in Melbourne, Australia — on Record Store Day 2023 (April 22) on double LP and CD. Pearl Jam Radio will premiere the audio on April 21 at 6pm ET , ahead of its release the next day. Pearl Jam announces new 2023 U.S. Tour, will use ‘all-in’ ticket pricing

Pearl jam has famously been fighting against ticketmaster since 1994..

Pearl Jam has just announced an upcoming U.S. tour for 2023 , hitting five cities with two shows each, beginning on August 31 in St. Paul, Minnesota, before making their way to Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin.

The band has famously had a difficult relationship with Ticketmaster that began in 1994 for unfairly adding exorbitant fees after capping ticket prices at $18 during their 1993 ‘Vs Tour’.

In order to avoid these fees, which the band felt was unfair to fans, they ended up performing at venues that Ticketmaster had no deals with , which were often not up to pair with the bigger arena’s that worked with Ticketmaster.

Pearl Jam using ‘all-in’ pricing and Verified Fan

Now Pearl Jam is attempting to work with Ticketmaster by giving fans ‘all-in’ ticket pricing, meaning that fees are already included in the ticket price, with no surprises at checkout.

The band will also be making use of Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan service , designed to help stop scalpers from getting their hands on tickets and reselling them at high prices.

“Pearl Jam has decided to make tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs,” the band explained in a press release .

“Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

The band’s efforts on keeping ticket prices fair for fans echo Robert Smith’s recent attempts to give fans refunds on fees added to tickets for the upcoming ‘Songs from a Lost World Tour’ by The Cure, where 7,000 scalped tickets were canceled.

When do tickets for Pearl Jam’s 2023 U.S. Tour go on sale?

Members of Pearl Jam fan club Ten Club will have already been given presale links to buy tickets for the upcoming shows.

Fans can also register for Verified Fan on Ticketmaster for a chance to receive a special access code for a second presale.

Registration for Verified Fan is open until Tuesday, April 25th at 5 p.m. PT.

PEARL JAM Shares New Single 'Running'

PEARL JAM 's twelfth studio album, "Dark Matter" , will be released on April 19, 2024 via Monkeywrench Records / Republic Records . The LP's second single, "Running" , can be streamed below.

"[Bassist] Jeff [ Ament ] had the main parts for that one, and we worked it over as a band," guitarist Stone Gossard told SPIN . "I love the bridge. I don't know what the hell those chords are that [guitarist] Mike 's [ McCready ] playing, but it sounds original."

"Running" was one of the last songs recorded with producer Andrew Watt at Rick Rubin 's Shangri-La Studio in Malibu, California. "It was fun to come up with one more uptempo song," Gossard said, adding that frontman Eddie Vedder 's "vocal dexterity here and on a few other spots on the album is just stunning."

In 2023, PEARL JAM retreated to Shangri-La Studios where they simply plugged in and played under Watt 's watch. Writing and recording in a burst of inspiration, "Dark Matter" was born in just three weeks. As a result, "Dark Matter" channels the shared spirit of a group of lifelong creative confidants and brothers in one room playing as if their very lives depended on it.

The album's packaging features light painting art by Alexandr Gnezdilov . The album cover art was crafted using a large self-made kaleidoscope. Each letter visible on the cover was individually captured and handwritten midair with a specially designed flashlight to create the pearlescent effect.

To celebrate the release of the new album, PEARL JAM will present an exclusive cinematic engagement, "Pearl Jam - Dark Matter - Global Theatrical Experience - One Night Only" , on April 16. Distributed by Abramorama , "Dark Matter" will come to life in over 225 locations nationwide, including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Landmark, Marcus, Studio Movie Grill, Cinepolis, Harkins, Alamo Drafthouse, Chinese Cineplex, IFC, and more. PEARL JAM reportedly held a listening party for "Dark Matter" in late January at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, during which Vedder told those in attendance that he considered the LP to be "our best work."

In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, McCready stated about collaborating with Watt , the multi- Grammy -winning producer who has also worked with Dua Lipa , Post Malone and Justin Bieber , as well as Ozzy Osbourne and THE ROLLING STONES : "When we were in the studio with him this past year, he really kicked our asses, got us focused and playing, song after song. It took a long time to make 'Gigaton' , but this new one didn't take long. Andrew was, like, 'You guys take forever to make records. Let's do this, right now.'"

Regarding the musical direction of PEARL JAM 's new material, Mike said: "It's a lot heavier than you'd expect. There's the melody and energy of the first couple of records. Andrew pushed us to play as hard and melodic and thoughtful as we've done in a long time. I feel like Matt Cameron 's drumming has elements of what he did in SOUNDGARDEN ."

He added: "For better or worse, you're gonna hear a lot more lead guitar from me — stuff I haven't done in a long time. I went crazy, like with Chris Cornell and TEMPLE OF THE DOG on 'Reach Down' [1991] all those years ago. I got to do it again. Usually the first or second takes are best. After that I start thinking about it and it doesn't have the feel. But Andrew caught the lightning in a bottle, as they say."

McCready also discussed how the current situation in America has affected Vedder who has had a career full of activism and advocacy for political causes.

"I think Ed has always been very aware of everything that's going on and always fighting for the underdog," the guitarist said. "Certainly America has got so many fucked-up issues. Guns. Racism. That idiot Trump . All that stuff has always been there, but you have to be aware of it and consciously fight it, because you want this to be a better world, if you're a good human. And I see Ed as that, and hopefully we are. We try to be proactive and solution-oriented, and not sit back and do nothing."

Asked what he thinks are the best and worst things that could happen in 2024, Mike said: "Oh god. Well, if Trump got elected, that'd be the worst thing in the world to me. I'd rather think about the best things that can happen. We have to come together. We have to be compassionate. We have to take care of the environment. We have to not be racist. We have to not be idiots. There's all these things we can do. But we have to choose to think that way."

Last September, McCready was also full of praise for Watt , telling Guitar World magazine: " Andrew Watt brought an energy and a youthfulness and a great ear to us that I think we needed. He kind of kicked us in our asses a little bit. Like, 'Okay, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go go go!' He's the most hyper guy I've ever met besides myself. But he's a giant fan of our band, and he's a really smoking guitar player in his own right. He got us into a room and just pushed us as hard as we could be pushed."

He continued: "You know, it's hard for a quote-unquote outsider to come into our world because we've done things a certain way. We're open to new things, but we are also in our own world. We've done things for 30 years. So we know the dynamics of our band very well. But sometimes we need to get pushed and questioned, and Andrew did a great job of that."

In June 2023, PEARL JAM bassist Jeff Ament told Kyle Meredith about the inspiration for the band's new material: "Well, we've talked a lot about, in the last three or four years, how we've sort of earned the right to do whatever the fuck we want to right now. And so why wouldn't we go all the way with that? Saying, like, 'Everybody, make a list of the 10 things that you wanna do in this band before we're done. Where is the city that you've never played? Or where is the venue you wanna go back to? Or what's the kind of song you wanna write? Or what's the cause you wanna get behind within the context of the band?' Those are sort of the things I talk about.

"It feels like we're sort of at this point where we should be able to turn a big corner," he continued. "We've earned the right to sort of, like… And that's tough, because there's five of us that are pulling the cart. And so sometimes you end up pulling the cart in opposite directions. It's, like, just embracing all of that — embracing everybody's ideas and everybody's hopes and dreams and wishes and styles.

"We have this amazing community as a band and the families within the band, and the people that we work with and the people that have worked with us for, like, 32 years in some cases. It's taken us this long for it to work this efficiently. We should be killing it right now in every way. I think that's what we hope for musically. I think we wanna turn the corner and I think we wanna access all the best parts of each other and we wanna flourish within that. We just wanna support the best parts of each other so we consequently make the best music.

"Sometimes there's a lot of ego involved, and if somebody feels like they're working harder than the other person, or whatever the stuff is, but if you can just leave that stuff behind and focus on how do we support each other so each person brings the best to the song we're working on right now," Ament added. "And I think that's what we're trying to do. The stuff we've been doing the last couple of years, it sort of feels like we've hit on that in a few instances."

Pearl Jam to Release New LP ‘Dark Matter’ With One-Night-Only Global Theatrical Experience

C onsidered one of the Top 10 Live Acts of All Time by Rolling Stone , the rock band Pearl Jam sold over 85 million albums throughout their time on stage. During their first year of eligibility, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even inducted the band in 2017. Releasing several albums over the decade, the band is currently preparing to share their twelfth album, Dark Matter , with fans on April 19. While not that far away, Pearl Jam decided to make their first album in four years extra special by releasing it early. But there is a catch. 

Just a few days before the album hits shelves, Pearl Jam will offer a preview of their songs with a one-night showing in theaters on April 16. Posting the announcement online, the band wrote, “To celebrate the release of the new album, Pearl Jam invites you to a global theatrical experience, Dark Matter – One Night Only, on April 16th, 2024.” And given that it is an album, there will be two showings. Pearl Jam explained, “Attendees will be among the very first to hear the band’s new record in select cinemas around the world. This communal experience will play Dark Matter in its entirety twice: first in a dark cinema, and then again with added visuals.”

Besides offering a unique experience for their new album, Pearl Jam already released two tracks, “Dark Matter” and “Running.” Discussing “Running”, guitarist Stone Gossard raved about the song’s bridge to Spin . He said, “Jeff [Ament] had the main parts for that one, and we worked it over as a band. I love the bridge. I don’t know what the hell those chords are that Mike [McCready]’s playing, but it sounds original. It’s one of the last ones we recorded at Shangri-La, and it was fun to come up with one more uptempo song. [Eddie Vedder’s] vocal dexterity here and on a few other spots on the album is just stunning.”

While thrilled about Dark Matter , 2024 marked a big year for Pearl Jam . Not only is the band sharing new music, but in just a few months, Pearl Jam will hit the road once again for a global tour. Kicking off on May 4, the band will visit Boston, Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, and even travel overseas to perform in Europe. With a massive schedule ahead of them, Pearl Jam doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Listen to Pearl Jam’s punky new single ‘Running’

The track marks the second single to be released from 'Dark Matter'

Pearl Jam have released their punky new single ‘Running’ from their upcoming album ‘Dark Matter’.

The electrifying track features a deep bass line, a catchy guitar riff and a throbbing drum beat. Midway through the song it is infused with a heavy guitar solo while frontman Eddie Vedder sings: “Living in the shadows, crossing my fingers / A date with the gallows and a reprieve not looking likely”

Speaking about ‘Running’ in an interview with SPIN , Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist Stone Gossard shared that the riffs in the song were created by bassist Jeff Ament. “Jeff had the main parts for that one, and we worked it over as a band,” Gossard said, adding: “I love the bridge. I don’t know what the hell those chords are that [guitarist] Mike [McCready]’s playing, but it sounds original.”

He also shared that the song was one of the final tracks the band created with producer Andrew Watt. Gossard explained that it was fun creating an uptempo song and having Vedder’s “vocal dexterity here and on a few other spots on the album is just stunning.”

‘Running’ is the second single to be released from the band’s 12th studio album ‘ Dark Matter ‘. It follows the lead single of the same name. ‘Dark Matter’ is set for release on April 19 via Monkeywrench Records, and can be pre-ordered/pre-saved here .

In support of independent vinyl retailers, the band have also created a variety of limited edition galactic colour variants of the album which will be exclusively available at select indie retail stores with eight different colorways in the US and two additional variants for international. To celebrate the release of the new album, Pearl Jam will release a one night only event  Dark Matter – Global Theatrical Experience – on April 16.

The event will come to life in over 225 locations nationwide, including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Landmark, Marcus, Studio Movie Grill, Cinepolis, Harkins, Alamo Drafthouse, Chinese Cineplex, IFC, and more. Additionally, AMC and other cinemas will feature Dolby Atmos showings. Worldwide, it will graces cinemas in over 30 countries, appearing in more than 300 locations across Mexico, the UK, Spain, Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, and Poland.
