Full Day Tierra del Fuego y Pingüinos Rey

El día comienza recogiendo a los turistas en sus respectivos lugares de alojamiento en Punta Arenas para dirigirse al terminal de Tres Puentes a tomar el ferry que en 2 horas de navegación cruza el Estrecho de Magallanes hasta la Isla de Tierra del Fuego . El desembarco es en Bahía Chilota y desde ahí en un viaje de 5 kilómetros se llega a la ciudad de Porvenir para conocer su Plaza de Armas, Plaza de los Selknams, recorrer su costanera y mas tarde su pequeño pero interesante museo , como así también el Mirador de la ciudad.

Posteriormente se inicia el viaje hacia el Parque Pingüino Rey , distante a 114 kms de la ciudad. Este trayecto demora alrededor de 1 hora y media y gran parte de este es bordeando Bahía Inútil. El Parque es un lugar de avistamiento único donde siguiendo el sendero podremos observar a un grupo de unos 40 ejemplares de esta especie a corta distancia. Después de 1 hora en e lugar continuaremos nuestro viaje observando el casco de la Estancia Josefina, una de las mas importantes de la isla.

Visitaremos también la villa petrolera Cerro Sombrero. Finalmente cruzaremos nuevamente el estrecho de Magallanes esta vez por su parte mas angosta (Primera Angostura, solo 20 minutos de navegación) . Dependiendo de las fecha de viaje , tiempos y horas de luz podremos detenernos en la abandonada Estancia San Gregorio , una de las primeras y mas históricas de la región para luego regresar a Punta Arenas.

Operación y mínimo de pasajeros:

SEPTIEMBRE 2022 a ABRIL 2023: Salidas a confirmar solo de Martes a Domingo (excepto 1° Mayo y todo Junio) o programables con un mínimo de 8 pasajeros. Resto del año : Salidas diarias solo de Martes a Domingo (Excepto 24, 25 Diciembre y 1° Enero).

Recogida en hotel: Martes a Viernes:  07:00 a 07:30 hrs aprox Sábados y Domingos : 07.30 a 08:00 hrs aprox. Regreso : 20:00 a 21:30 hrs. En los meses de Invierno estos horarios podrían variar lo cual se informará al momento de confirmar la reserva.

Recogida y regreso a hotel, transporte compartido, ticket de ferry , guía o chofer- guía, entrada a museo en Porvenir

¿El tour se realiza todo el año?

Efectivamente el tour podría realizarse todo el año dependiendo de la demanda y condiciones climáticas. Opera solo de Martes a Domingo , ya que los días Lunes uno de los “ferry” necesarios para el cruce del estrecho no navega. con algunas res Se recomienda realizarlo entre Agosto y Mayo principalmente .

¿En que tipo de vehículos se desarrolla el tour?

El vehículo a utilizar dependerá de la cantidad de pasajeros que vayan en el tour, pudiendo ser desde una van para 9 pasajeros hasta un minibus de 19 pasajeros.

¿Cuáles son las opciones de almuerzo?

Por lo largo del viaje y para un mejor aprovechamiento del tiempo se recomienda a los pasajeros llevar su propio almuerzo o colación desde Punta Arenas para servir en el mismo vehículo. We will pick you up to begin the way to the starting point of the navigation across the Magellan Strait , so you can reach Tierra del Fuego island. In that place, you will go to the King Penguin Natural Reserve , in Bahía Inútil. There, you will be received by a local guide, who will give instructions for the visit, as well as important information about this penguin species, the second largest in the world. The observation is made from specific points, from a 50-meter (164 feet) distance and in total silence, so you don’t disturb these animals. After about 1 hour of observation and tour by the marked track, you will go back to the vehicle to continue the trip by Tierra del Fuego.

Depending on how the day’s itinerary is organized, you will have the possibility of visiting the city of Porvenir , make a small tour and have lunch. The same way, you will stop in Estancia San Gregorio (wether it be on the trip going to Tierra del Fuego or on the way back), built since 1878 and that still have some facilities standing, although abandoned.

The crossing to Tierra del Fuego Island could be through Tres Puentes or Punta Delgada, depending on the day you take the tour and the weather conditions:

• Round trip via Tres Puentes:
• Departure at 7:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Departure at 7:30 am on Saturday and Sunday.
• Return around 10:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Return around 11:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

• Outbound trip via Tres Puentes and returning through Punta Delgada:
• Departure at 7:00 am on Wednesdays and Fridays.
• Return around at 11:00 am on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Full day tour of Tierra del Fuego with pinguins at a large distance

We booked a full day tour of Tierra del Fuego and the king penguins with Denomades travel agency. They were 40 minutes late in picking us up, but we were still in time for the ferry from Tres puentes to Tierra del Fuego. They guide was very knowledgeable, both about Chilean, Punta Arenas and Tierra del Fuego history. On the tour we stopped in Provenir, the main Chilean town on the island. There we visited the museum detailing the lives of the Selk'nam (as fas as possible, very little remains) with some objects and enlarged photographs. It also details the history of the town itself, which has a large Croatian immigrant population. We also visited plaza Selk'nam, a square with modern sculptures based on the photographs in the museum. Finally we had also lunch in this town. After lunch we drove to the private park where the king penguins since a few years lay eggs. It is still a small colony, they estimate about 60 pairs. We certainly did not see 60 penguins, probably around 20 adults. The penguins are at a pretty large distance from the viewing platforms. There are telescopes through which you could once in a while see a little chick appear to get some food. But the telescopes needed cleaning and were not that good. So best to bring your own good zoomlens, powerful binoculars or bird telescope. In all we spent 1 hour in the park, which was enough. One the way back we still stopped at the Menendez sheep processing factory, which is slowly decaying into a ruin, but is still owned by the Menendez family. We took the ferry back to the mainland at punta delegada, but that depends on the wind and choppiness of the straight. A long, but fulfilling day, quite a few hours travelling in minivan and boat.

I love Parque Pinguino Rey! The mission of the park is first of all penguin protection, and then tourism. Even if you are far away from the penguins, you get to watch penguins live their daily penguin lives without you disturbing them. Even if this park is very much out of the way, it is well worth the detour. I would give this park a hundred stars if I could! (16 years old)

We booked this full day trip through Turismo Laguna Azul in Punta Arenas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our hotel pick up was on time, our guide was knowledgeable and informative and weather was gorgeous. We had a smooth ride on the ferry, delicious lunch in Portnevir and an informative talk upon arrival at the reserve. This private park does a wonderful job of allowing you to view the King Penguins without interfering or bothering them. It is not a close up experience, so a good camera and zoom lens are recommended. There were about 25 penguins on our visit, including two juveniles who were very easy to spot. Many of the others were in various stages of molt. We were amazed at how large they are compared to other penguins. Since King Penguins are not found in many places (here, Antarctica and perhaps the Falklands?) we were so glad we were able to find this tour. Our day on Tierra del Fuego was a once in a lifetime experience and is a must-see for any animal lover.

Most probably the best reason to visit the Chilean part of Tierra del Fuego! It is an experience not to be missed to see those beautiful animals from so close by.

This place is worst to visit only if you are close to it. Going to Terra del Fuego only for visiting this place is bad idea. Short path surrounded with borders. Pinguins are far away from observation route. I was very disappointed with this activity.

Visited parque pinguino rey as part of a larger road trip from Punta Arenas to the end of the road at Caleta Maria and lago Kami. I rented a medium size SUV truck in Punta Arenas and drove south. The views from Porvenir to parque pinguino rey can be magical as they were in the fall of 2017 with magnificent clear weather with amazing fall foliage. It was an added bonus to be able to view the small albeit interesting King Penguins colony in Useless bay i.e. Bahía Inútil. It is an enormous bay with interesting and curious prospects as the road lies a scant distance from the bay. My only quibble is that the viewing platform is at a distance from the colony, so I recommend a telephoto lens. This measure is of course to avoid disturbing the colony. I highly recommend it. It would be a cherry on the cake if one visits the colony as part of a road trip to the extreme south. Which is sublime country. I had amazing view from Rossfin towards the Darwin range in Southern Tierra del Fuego. Caveat actually visited March 2017

¡una excepcional excursión de un día para conocer parque pingüino rey, saliendo desde punta arenas.

Hora de inicio de pick up del tour entre 07:00 - 07:40 am en donde se comienza a buscar a los pasajeros.

Posteriormente nos dirigimos al terminal de Tres Puentes para tomar el ferry y cruzar el Estrecho de Magallanes , la Navegación tiene una duración de 2 horas, llegando alrededor de las 11:30 AM a Bahía Chilota para desembarcar.

Seguimos camino a visitar la Plaza de los Selknam, ubicada en el centro de Porvenir.

Poco después realizaremos una parada para comprar Box lunch (colaciones) y almorzar.

Seguimos nuestro viaje al Parque Pingüino Rey, colonia que se encuentra ubicada en Bahía Inútil, donde podrá apreciarlos y disfrutar con su belleza, seguimos camino a Cerro Sombrero, el cual es un poblado que cuenta con los servicios necesarios y que fue creado para que vivieran los funcionarios de la Empresa Nacional del Petróleo cuando esto se encontraba en su auge máximo, finalmente realizaremos el cruce por Primera angostura haciendo una navegación de 20 minutos para luego hacer la última parada en la estancia san Gregorio.

Después de realizar ésta aventura llegaremos a Punta Arenas alrededor de las 21:30 hrs.

Por Logística es posible que este tour tenga modificaciones , las cuales se informarán al momento de la reserva o 1 día antes del tour:

El Pingüino Rey es la segunda especie en tamaño superada sólo por el Pingüino Emperador y es ciertamente el más colorido y atractivo miembro de la familia. No muchos lugares en el mundo ofrecen fácil acceso y buenas oportunidades de observar esta especie en la naturaleza. La pequeña colonia de Bahía Inútil, en Tierra del Fuego, es la única colonia reproductiva del continente americano, y por lo tanto es un lugar muy especial.

Durante esta excursión de naturaleza y fotografía tendrás la oportunidad de observar estas magníficas aves marinas en su hábitat natural y aprender sobre su historia natural. El viaje comienza en Punta Arenas, capital de la Región de Magallanes, Chile, una de las ciudades más australes del mundo y puerta de acceso a la Isla de Tierra del Fuego. Desde aquí abordaremos un avión y en un corto vuelo de 15 minutos sobre el Estrecho de Magallanes, llegaremos al pueblo de Porvenir. Posteriormente conduciremos a lo largo de la costa de Bahía Inútil hasta la boca del Río Marazzi, donde se ubica la Reserva Pingüino Rey .

Tour por el Día | Viaje de día completo en avión

Viaje de día completo (8-10 horas) en avión y liderado por uno de nuestros guías naturalistas | disponible todo el año (excepto juni a septiembre) de martes a viernes..

En esta opción volaremos desde Punta Arenas a Porvenir en el primer vuelo de la mañana (8.15am) y regresaremos durante la tarde (5.20pm). La duración del vuelo es de aproximadamente 15 minutos. La disponibilidad de tickets aéreos para esta opción es muy limitada, por lo que recomendamos hacer la reserva con bastante anticipación.

Comenzaremos nuestra expedición con un transfer desde tu hotel en Punta Arenas al aeropuerto; desde aquí tomaremos un vuelo temprano hasta Porvenir, en la parte Chilena de Tierra del Fuego. Durante este corto aunque escénico vuelo de 15 minutos, cruzaremos las míticas aguas del Estrecho de Magallanes. Apreciaremos desde el aire la colosal acción de los glaciares registrada en los últimos 12.000 años, que ha modelado este maraña de estrechos y canales entre el continente y la Isla Grande. Apreciaremos además a la distancia las cumbres de los Andes, denominados aquí como Cordillera Darwin. Cada vez más cerca, la inmensa Bahía Inútil.

Tan pronto como aterricemos, nos daremos cuenta de que la vegetación en esta parte de Tierra del Fuego está dominada por la estepa patagónica y suaves lomajes; sus pastos y arbustos están adaptados a los fuertes vientos predominantes del oeste. Después de reunirnos con nuestro guía y chofer pararemos brevemente en Casa Yendegaia , una añosa casa del pueblo, hoy transformada en un acogedor hostal; aquí tomaremos un café o té y algunos snacks. Inmediatamente proseguiremos por unas dos horas, conduciendo por la costa norte de Bahía Inútil, y esperamos ver una interesante variedad de fauna incluyendo Guanaco, Zorro Chilla, al numeroso ganso Caiquén, Flamencos Chilenos y una gran diversidad de aves acuáticas. En el mar observaremos albatros, petreles, gaviotas y ocasionalmente delfines australes.

Llegamos por fin a la Reserva Pingüino Rey donde recibiremos una breve charla introductoria sobre los Pingüinos Rey y como observarlos durante nuestra visita. Esta reserva natural privada fue establecida con el objeto de preservar los pequeños números de Pingüino Rey que iniciaron la colonia casi 10 años atrás. Estas aves se han asentado en este lugar durante todo el año, aprovechando las excelentes oportunidades de alimento en el mar circundante. Durante nuestra visita tendremos múltiples oportunidades de fotografiar los pingüinos, tanto adultos como pichones. Observaremos a los pingüinos desde plataformas o senderos, desde una distancia estimada a los 30 metros. Para los fotógrafos recomendamos traer lentes sobre 400mm (o equivalente) a fin de lograr resultados más satisfactorios. Nuestro guía tendrá telescopio de observación disponible para los participantes del tour. Luego de un par de horas en la colonia, procederemos a retornar a Porvenir y tomar nuestro vuelo hacia Punta Arenas. (Picnic)(Guía)

El monto de la reserva es de 120 USD por persona. El saldo por el precio total del tour debe ser cancelado hasta 90 días previos al inicio del programa.

NOTA: Pedidos o consultas recibidas en Sábados, Domingos y festivos serán respondidos durante el siguiente día hábil.

Política de cancelación

Sólo se aceptará aviso de cancelación POR ESCRITO directamente de la persona que firma el formulario de registro y reserva, y se hace efectiva el mismo día de recibida por nuestra compañía.

Reembolsos se llevan a cabo de acuerdo a la siguiente tabla:

• Si la cancelación se hace 120 o más días antes de la fecha de inicio del tour, se reembolsa el monto de la transferencia, menos 200 USD.

• Si la cancelación se hace entre 120 y 60 días antes de la fecha de inicio del tour, NO se reembolsa el monto de la transferencia, pero cualquier pago que cubra el saldo de la tarifa será reembolsado.

• Si la cancelación se hace menos de 60 días antes del inicio del tour, NO existe reembolso.

Esta política y esquema de pagos se aplica también a extensiones pre- y post-tour, así como también a cualquier transferencia de un tour a otro. Recomendamos la adquisición de seguro por cancelación de viaje por su propia protección.

Este viaje se realiza con un mínimo de 1 participante y un máximo de 5 participantes. Grupos más grandes pueden ser atendidos y es probable de que el grupo sea dividido a fin de minimizar el impacto en la colonia.

Disponible durante todo el año (excepto desde Junio a Septiembre), desde Martes a Viernes. En temporada media (Oct/Nov y desde mediados de Marzo hasta Mayo) se opera los Jueves y Viernes. Saldremos desde Punta Arenas en un vuelo de mañana (8.15am) y regresaremos a Punta Arenas durante la tarde (5.20pm). La duración del vuelo es de aproximadamente 15 minutos.

El precio del viaje  incluye : Pasajes aéreos Punta Arenas – Porvenir – Punta Arenas, picnic lunch y servicios de guía naturalista como se indica en el itinerario, transporte privado con chofer y tarifa de acceso a la reserva.

Su observación es a distancia, la cual está establecida por la legislación chilena vigente (D.S. Nº 38 de 2011 del Ministerio de Economía, Fomento y Turismo).

Queremos ayudarte a organizar tu viaje a Tierra del Fuego, por ello escribimos estos consejos para tí.

I. Planificación

Planifica con tiempo tu visita, te recomendamos visitar nuestro Parque con 48 horas de anticipación a tu vuelo de regreso.

Revisa el pronóstico del tiempo antes de viajar. El impredecible clima de la patagonia puede ocasionar el cierre de los cruces, provocando la pérdida de tu vuelo de regreso o que no puedas visitar nuestro Parque.

III. Reserva

Recuerda reservar tu visita hasta con 24 horas de anticipación. De lo contrario, estando cumplida la carga diaria de visitantes el Parque se puede encontrar cerrado.

IV. Movilización

Asegúrate que el automóvil, en el que viajas, esté en buen estado, que tenga carga de combustible, que cuente con todo el equipamiento y sobre todo que esté preparado para el invierno.

V. Combustible

En Tierra del Fuego hay pocos lugares para recargar combustible. Antes de salir de Porvenir o Cerro Sombrero debes cargar el estanque de combustible del automóvil.

VI. Maneja con precaución

El camino desde Porvenir a Parque Pingüino Rey es de ripio. Te recomendamos tener precaución y transitar a velocidad moderada, tanto en verano como invierno.

VII. Luz solar

En la Patagonia las horas luz de invierno disminuyen. Ten en cuenta que a las 16 hrs ya oscureció.

Hora de inicio de pick up del tour entre 07:00 – 07:30 am en donde se comienza a buscar a los pasajeros, a las 08:00 am nos dirigimos al terminal de Tres Puentes para tomar el ferry y cruzar el Estrecho de Magallanes, la Navegación tiene una duración de 2 horas, llegando alrededor de las 11:30 a.m a Bahía Chilota lugar donde se desembarca y a 20 minutos se encuentra ubicado una de las ciudades más australes de la Patagonia, llamada Porvenir en donde se visita la Plaza de los Selknam, luego se hará una parada para almorzar y descansar en un restaurant local y económico donde puede pagar con efectivo o tarjeta. Seguimos nuestro viaje al Parque Pingüino Rey, colonia que se encuentra ubicada en Bahía Inútil, donde podrá apreciarlos y disfrutar con su belleza, seguimos camino a Cerro Sombrero, el cual es un poblado que cuenta con los servicios necesarios y que fue creado para que vivieran los funcionarios de la Empresa Nacional del Petróleo cuando esto se encontraba en su auge máximo, finalmente realizaremos el cruce por Primera angostura haciendo una navegación de 20 minutos para luego hacer la última parada en la estancia san Gregorio, llegando a Punta Arenas alrededor de las 21:00 hrs.

KING PENGUINS OF TIERRA DEL FUEGO

Thanks to the initiative of scientists, landowners, biologists, vets and archaeologists, the Pingüino Rey Private Park seeks to raise awareness among visitors of the value of the bird life on the island and prevent the endangerment and extinction of this species. This place has the right conditions for nesting, resting and feeding – which you may be able to observe, depending on the season. Here, you’ll learn about this amazing animal, which is considered to be the second largest of the world’s 18 species of penguin, measuring up to 95cm tall!

The large island of Tierra del Fuego is separated from the mainland by the Strait of Magellan, surrounded to the south by the Beagle Channel, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean on the Argentinian side and to the west by the Chilean territory of the Pacific Ocean. This area is noted for its large number of fjords, its Cordillera de Darwin mountain range, its inhospitable climate and important bird life, especially the “King Penguin” colony that visit the private park.

Itinerary Idea

Punta arenas & surroundings.

You will have excellent service at the Yegua Loca hotel located in the city of Punta Arenas. Depending what time you arrive, you’ll have time to explore, get to know the surrounding area, and prepare for your adventure on the following day.

PUNTA ARENAS – TIERRA DEL FUEGO / KING PENGUIN PARK

After breakfast, a van will pick you up between 7:00-7:30 am to begin your trip to the Pingüino Rey Private Park. You will take a ferry across the Strait of Magellan towards the chilote bay located on Tierra del Fuego, where the first activity will consist of a city tour around Porvenir before continuing on towards the Park. There, you will have time to observe, take pictures, and learn about this amazing colony that now contains over one hundred penguins distributed over grassland areas, coastal bays and the Park’s gentle hills.

Once you have finished exploring the Park, you’ll head to the Cerro Sombrero, another part of the island, where you can explore the town and enjoy its facilities. Later, you’ll head back to Punta Arenas.

PUNTA ARENAS – SANTIAGO AIRPORT

When your stay in Punta Arenas reaches its end, a van will pick you up from the hotel at an agreed time according to the time of your flight and take you to Punta Arenas airport where you will catch your return flight to Santiago.

Descripción

El tour comienza a las 07:30 hrs, con un recorrido por los distintos alojamientos recogiendo a los pasajeros. A las 09:00 hrs. zarpa el Ferry desde el terminal de Tres Puentes de Punta Arenas con destino a Porvenir en la Isla Tierra del Fuego, navegando por el Estrecho Magallanes, siendo recibidos por las hermosas “toninas” que salen al encuentro de la embarcación. Luego de visitar la quieta ciudad de Porvenir y su singular arquitectura, se da tiempo para conocer el Museo, para continuar a las 13:00 hrs con destino a la “ Bahía Inútil ”. A 96 kms de Porvenir y siguiendo siempre por el camino internacional que lleva a la Frontera de “San Sebastián”, llegamos al Cruce “ONAISIN “ en punto tomamos el camino a “CAMERON”, hacia la derecha y a 14,5 kms, se encuentra el “PARQUE PINGÜINO REY”. Aquí los recibe el Guardaparque quien los acompaña durante su visita para responder cualquier consulta e interiorizarlos sobre esta especie y de la cual poco se sabe, ya que hace solo un par de años se asentó en este lugar. Actualmente y en temporada alta pueden llegar a verse hasta 80 ejemplares, los cuales se encuentran a 15 o 20 metros de la línea demarcada como de máximo acercamiento. En el lugar también se pueden observar algunos sitios arqueológicos, que dan cuenta de la presencia humana y del Pingüino Rey en el lugar, los que convivían desde hace muchísimos años, hasta la llegada del hombre civilizado que los exterminó a ambos. La “Laguna EMA “, muy cerca del Parque, considerada un importante Humedal y sitio de nidificación, permite observar una gran cantidad de aves de distintas especies. Al llegar al Cruce Onaisín, se puede visitar también el Cementerio Inglés. Luego de 1 hora y media en el Parque, se continúa camino hacia Cerro Sombrero, pasando por emblemáticas Estancias de la Tierra del Fuego dedicadas a la ganadería y siempre es posible ver algún piño de ovejas, ñadúes, guanacos, zorros, zorrilos, flamencos y muchas otras aves de distintas especies. “Cerro Sombrero” es un pequeño poblado, dormitorio de los trabajadores del Petróleo de la Isla y que permite apreciar el auge que alguna vez tuvo esta actividad en la Región. A 30 kms de Cerro Sombrero se encuentra el Terminal “ 1ª Angostura “, el paso más angosto del Estrecho de Magallanes, donde después de una navegación de 25 minutos se llega de regreso al continente. A las 22:30 hrs. es el arribo a Punta Arenas.

In what transport do we cross the Strait of Magellan?

There are 2 ways to cross the Strait of Magellan, the first is through the crossing through Tres Puentes located at the northern entrance to Punta Arenas (the crossing takes approximately 2 hours in a ferry) and the second is through the crossing through Punta Delgada (the crossing lasts approximately 30 minutes), located 170 km north of Punta Arenas. Depending on the above, it is possible that Porvenir will not be visited and the duration of the tour could be extended to around three hours. Regardless of the route, the tour rate always remains the same.

How do you pay for admission to the King Penguin Park?

You must pay only with a credit or debit card in the king penguin park itself at the time of entry. The entry costs are as follows:

• General public: CLP$15,000
• Adults over 60 years of age: CLP$10,000
• Residents of Chilean Tierra del Fuego: CLP$5,000
• Children up to 10 years old and people with disabilities: Free entry

Are there places to eat during the tour?

Depending on where the crossing is made, we can make a stop in Cerro Sombrero or Porvenir for lunch, generally the costs vary between CLP$7000 and CLP$15,000, and there are also meals of the day, which include a starter, lunch, dessert and a drink. It is also recommended to bring food from Punta Arenas, since the route is long and there are no places to buy.

Can I cancel or reschedule my reservation once I have made the payment?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule your reservation if you notify us 48 hours before the start of the tour, in this case we will refund 100% of the cost you paid when making the reservation or we will reschedule without penalty.

Itinerary King penguin park from Punta Arenas

We start at 07:00 picking up tourists in their respective lodgings, heading to the sector of Tres Puentes and boarding the Ferry at 08:30 am. The navigation lasts 2 hours arriving at 10:30 am to the Island of Tierra del Fuego. Arriving in the city of Porvenir we will visit and visit the Provincial Museum Fernando Cordero Rusque. Around 13:30 hrs we leave the city of Porvenir and we go to the Penguin King Park, located 120 km south of Porvenir, sector of Bay Useless, at the mouth of the river Marazzi is this colony of penguins.

The King penguin is a migratory bird that is mobilized from its reproduction sites in some sub-Antarctic islands in search of food. On the shores of Tierra del Fuego, we know that it has been a frequent visitor since the time when the Selknam lived because they have found bone remains of king penguin in their archaeological sites.

Here you can sighting this beautiful bird and enjoy the surroundings. After 17:00 hrs will begin the return taking a different route passing through the commune of Cerro Sombrero and from there arrive to Bahía Azul where the crossing will take place (20 minutes aprox) and then we will travel 180 km to reach Punta Arenas at 9:30pm approximately.

Full day Tierra del Fuego is made daily in high season and in low season you should consult us (mainly on weekends)

Note: The itinerary may be modified according to the availability of the ferry and the visiting time assigned by the King Penguin Park itself.

Important: Tour end time is approximate and subject to change. It is recommended not to book the tour if you have a flight scheduled from Punta Arenas that same day or before noon the next day.
