adidas TOUR360 24: The Return of an Icon

In my mind, there’s no scene in cinematic history that hits quite like Frodo returning to the Shire after destroying the One Ring. His journey through Middle Earth proved successful, sure, but returning home after the hell-bent hiatus was almost tear-worthy.

In any case, I liken Frodo’s triumphant return home to that of the newest golf shoe from adidas. A familiar face is back and I couldn’t be more excited.

After a brief hiatus, the flagship adidas TOUR360 golf shoe is back in the lineup. The return of an icon! Perhaps the most recognizable golf shoe in brand history is here for another go.

Introducing the adidas TOUR360 24 . The newest iteration of adidas’ premium Tour golf shoe has been years in the making. Can the new TOUR360 24 live up to the storied legacy of its predecessors?

I think so. Here’s why.

Wrapped in Confidence

Most big product launches come with a slogan or tagline. From TaylorMade’s “Experience drives in 10k” or Callaway’s “Sweeter from every spot”, the tagline generally gives a glimpse into the performance focus for that specific product.

For the TOUR360 24, that slogan is “Wrapped in confidence.”

adidas set out to create a golf shoe that inspired confidence through three main attributes: fit, performance and durability.

Each of these is crucial in building what adidas bills as a shoe for “tournament play and the dedicated golfer.”

“The TOUR360 is our oldest franchise, the one that really put us on the map as a golf brand,” said Jeff Lienhart, President of adidas Golf. “We’ve taken the best of the best and we’ve applied it to this product. It’s not so much a revolution as an evolution and an improvement on what was already a great product.”

Updated Fit

One of adidas’ big focuses with the new TOUR360 24 was the fit. What good is a golf shoe that doesn’t inspire confidence with a great fit?

The Brand with Three Stripes addressed this via the INSITE 2.0 Sockliner and 360Wrap technology.

Let’s start with the sockliner (or as some call it, an insole). The INSITE 2.0 sockliner is molded to cradle the foot. With higher, more pronounced edges, it keeps the foot stable and in place.

It also adds a bit of step-in comfort, if I do say so myself. Where other brands might skimp on a flimsy, cheap insole, adidas really knocked it out of the park with the INSITE 2.0 sockliner.

The 360Wrap also helps to dial in fit. This wrap is pretty simple. The laces loop through the iconic three stripes running down the side to the bottom of the shoe. These stripes run the circumference of the shoe so that, when you tighten the laces, the entire midfoot area “cinches” and hugs your foot.

A little bit of branding and a little bit of technology. I love it!

Performance

You can look at performance in a host of ways. To me, performance is three-fold: comfort, traction, stability.

If you want to throw in a fourth, waterproofing is important. The TOUR360 24 is waterproof, for those who care.

Back to performance. Comfort is king. Unless a golf shoe is comfortable, it can’t and won’t inspire confidence. adidas achieves comfort in a spiked shoe through the use of two foams, Lightstrike and Jet BOOST.

Every facet of the TOUR360 24 is designed for comfort : midsole, heel, even the weight.

“With this particular product, we went back to several elements of comfort first and foremost,” said Lienhart. “The lightweight nature of the product and also the comfort around the heel, as you know, is of paramount importance to this particular product and we spent a lot of time diving into that.”

Let’s talk about the midsole a little bit. As mentioned, adidas is relying on a dual foam setup to provide step-in comfort, energy return and impact protection.

This type of setup isn’t new to the brand (or to the industry). But it is fairly new to the T OUR360 which in 2022 featured a full-length BOOST midsole.

The results are the same: the TOUR360 24 is comfortable. The plush Jet BOOST heel and responsive Lightstrike forefoot make for great comfort and stability.

Speaking of stability …

The TOUR360 24 gets most of its stability from the new Torsion Bridge. This bridges the bottom of the TPU sole for rigidity and stability. This, coupled with that stiff TPU sole, makes the shoe very resistant to twisting and ,thus, making you less prone to injury.

Another upgrade to stability comes by way of traction.

As opposed to the TOUR360 22 , the new shoe features removable spikes. This is a welcome change. There have also been upgrades to the secondary lugs on the outsole, giving the TOUR360 24 great grip in any weather conditions.

It’s hard to mess up spiked traction and I’m glad adidas made sure this was on point.

We’ve talked about fit and performance. The final thing adidas hopes the TOUR360 24 will be is more durable.

A lot more durable.

One of the big problems on past models was the internal heel cup. adidas has beefed this up and changed the material to add longevity. The brand wants this heel to last at least five years. By then, you’ll probably buy another pair of shoes, anyways.

Durability is also enhanced with the addition of removable spikes. Once they wear out, you can replace them instead of tossing the shoes.

Wrapping Up

The mark of a good golf shoe is invisibility: if I can wear a shoe for 18 holes and not notice that I’m wearing the shoe, that’s a good thing.

A shoe that is uncomfortable, slips or twists too much does more to hurt confidence than anything else. If you don’t feel safe and comfortable in your footwear, you can’t focus on shooting a personal best.

All signs point to the new TOUR360 24 from adidas as the former. A shoe that inspires confidence through legit performance upgrades. Where do I sign up?

how is the firmness of the heel counterl? The Tour360 22 was unwearable for me (even with add-on heel padding and KT tape) because the hard heel counter would poke my achilles. You can find many reddit and Golfwrx posts about this. Some people said the heel counter would break in after a few rounds, others couldn’t get it to ever loosen up. I wear my Adidas Code Chaos instead because I can’t walk long distances in the Tour360 22.

Is the toebox wider (more of missed it in the review if you mentioned that area of the shoe)? Or will there be wide sizing? I love Adidas golf shoes but the standard size toebox always is a bit too tight on anything that isn’t BOA.

Hey Connor! Great write-up, as usual. :) Curious if, because the spikes are removable, this is conceivably both a spiked and a “spikeless” option – looks like a heck of a lot of … nubs (for lack of a better word) on the bottom that’s similar to a spikeless design. I currently play spikeless (Code Chaos), but have slipped once or twice – exactly enough to know I’m going spiked as my next shoe, especially if I’m playing in the early morning dew.

Glad to see an old friend again. The most recent model, with the non-replaceable spikes, wasn’t my taste. I’ve had many, many Tour 360 shoes and they are the best and most stable shoes. Glad to see they’ve only improved on the older design to make it familiar again. This is a nice match with the ZG shoes as well which in affect are ‘lighter’ Tour 360s. Look forward to seeing them in person and trying them out.

Is the heel material fuzzy or do the pictures just make it look that way? As long as they will clean up after a round, it’s not an issue. Hope they come in wide.

Review: Adidas Tour 360 Boost Shoes

A big factor in their walking comfort is the “Boost” technology.  It looks like white styrofoam  was glued between the shoe and the sole.  It however does work really well to reduce impact during your steps and even a little pop as you lift your feet.  I know they’ve had this now for over a year in their shoes, but these were my first  Adidas  shoes with “Boost” and I have to admit that I really liked it.

I went with the white/black/red combo in the  Adidas  Tour 360 Boost Shoes, which looks really good.  The black stripe down the main shoe looks really nice.  I like the bold and athletic look.  The subtle red sole gives it just a little pop of color.  If this color isn’t for you, don’t worry they have 10 color options so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding your favorite.  They have a nice fit, that is structured to your foot, but not tight or restrictive.  They also are waterproof which you’d come to expect from a shoe like this.  While these are white, they did wipe clean very easily after rounds in sloppy conditions.

One issue I’ve had with  Adidas  in the past, that these shoes do as well is that they trap debris in the spikes.  They do such a good job of gripping that they just don’t want to let go of some grass, dirt or leaves.  It certainly isn’t a deal breaker, but just be aware that these shoes do require some cleaning on the bottom after each round. Another interesting feature of these shoes is the gap between the sole and the tour wrap.  I understand how the feature works and see the benefits of it, but it too was a place the grass clippings tended to collect.

If you want  a super comfortable, very grippy, extremely stable golf shoe, the Adidas Tour 360 Boost are possibly the best I’ve had in all those categories.  They continue to work their way into my rotation of golf shoes.  I like their looks and the performance keeps my putting them on round after round.

Adidas Tour 360 XT SL 2.0 Golf Shoes

The Tour 360 golf shoe from adidas is one of the brand's most iconic silhouettes. The XT SL 2.0 is the fully waterproof, spikeless variant of the Tour 360 brand, offering golfers spikeless comfort and full protection from the elements out on course. 

The chassis of the shoe is a shape and style we think most people will be familiar with, with its profile on the feet of Tour players like Dustin Johnson making this a very desirable looking shoe. You can immediately feel how well made this shoe is out of the box too. The premium full-grain leather upper is incredibly soft and fully waterproof, making for a comfortable fit on your feet with the peace of mind that they'll stay dry no matter the conditions.

Of course, one of the best spiked golf shoes will give you the best grip in wet conditions, but the Tour 360 XT SL 2.0 did a great job in a variety of conditions. We were sure to try it out in dry, damp and wet conditions and are pleased to report a comfortable amount of grip in all conditions. The outsole is made from TPU and the X shapes throughout are designed to give solid grip with the low-profile feel of a spikeless shoe. For our money, only the FootJoy Pro SL has a better spikeless outsole. 

The standout feature of this shoe however is its cushioning and comfort when out walking the course. The full length Boost midsole is one of the best midsoles in any golf shoe we've tested this year and the Torsion bar means this shoe is solid throughout the swing too. 

The Tour 360 XT SL 2.0 Golf Shoes is without a doubt one of the best adidas golf shoes out there right now. While the overall profile of the shoe might be a bit clumpier than some other spikeless options, the grip and comfort make it one of the best spikeless shoes out there right now.

Not sure when they were released, but I personally think they look good. Had a pair of the originals that were insanely comfy with solid traction, but the boost foam split on me and they had to be returned. Any thoughts?

I ended up switching to Tour360 XT-SL exclusively last season as they were so comfortable with great stability.  I noticed these on their website earlier this week.  I did order the white/blue/green version last night.  I like the subtle changes they have made.  I will try to remember to provide feedback after I receive them and give them a try.  FWIW, I have had a number of their shoes over the past few seasons and have had no quality issues.

I have multiple pairs last year’s spikeless and one of the prime knits. Only had one problem with the heel area being kind of prematurely worn on one of my regular SLs which resulted in a blister. Curious to see the ‘textile’ version up close, and see if it’s got a little more padding there

Three pairs with the split of boost outside lead foot.  5 pairs before no issue.  Been wearing boost for years.  Hoping this year's model doesn't have the same issue.

There is a pair of these that appear to be very light grey and white-ish but BEWARE, they are actually very dark grey. Look nothing like their pictures 

How are these on traction? I play almost all of my rounds in the early morning. While I really like spikeless, I’ve been back to wearing spikes more often than not for the grip.

You won't miss spikes with this x grip thing.  Serious traction, imo.

Just got mine in wide yesterday, finally a Tour360 shoe that fits my wide feet.  They nailed it with these.  The leather is pretty soft which allows the shoe to expand naturally to the shape of your foot.  They look great.  Found the spiked Tour360XT to sit too high, these seem fine.  Haven't taken them out yet but so far i'm impressed.

got mine...and they are waterproof!

After a couple rounds I have a few observations which may help some of you

1) I feel these are slightly more comfortable than last years which I didn't think was possible.  They were cozy straight out of the box and no issues walking 18.    

2) The perforated leather in a few sections definitely helps with air flow.

3) Really look forward to seeing the updated spiked version as I think I will have to pick up a pair of those for the winter months.

I am very impressed Adidas!

carls golf land has last years on sale right now. They also have the spiked xt version. 

I wish they would bring the Onix colorway back. I really liked those.

You are correct sir. That’s what I saw. Thought they were the 2.0

That’s the exact reason I hopped on the boost 360 spiked with black boost.  I have a ton of boost golf shoes for years now and it drives me nuts trying to prevent the inevitable yellowing from discoloration.   The black boost 360/ with white leather and stripes looks great. 

Picked these up, coming from Nike. These are by far the most comfortable golf shoes I've worn. Being my first pair of spikeless, I was concerned about traction. In LA we don't deal like much rain or slick grass, but these shoes locked in and I never once felt like I was connected. Highly recommend, makes me want to check out the spiked version 2.0 when they drop
