Si chiamano Harlem ma non sono nati nel famoso quartiere di New York, che però ha ispirato il nome perché considerato il centro della cultura e dello spirito afroamericano da sempre. Si chiamano anche Globetrotters “giramondo”. E questo lo hanno fatto davvero portando felicità e momenti di vero divertimento e relax ai quattro angoli del pianeta. Gli Harlem Globetrotters sono nati nel quartiere del South Side di Chicago nel 1926 grazie ad Abe Saperstein , allenatore, manager di basket che ebbe l’intuizione di creare una squadra che divertisse soprattutto. Dopo aver preso parte ad un primo tour nell’Illinois nel 1940, la fama dei Globetrotters crebbe in fretta in America, ed “ebbero un'influenza sociale e furono rapidamente riconosciuti come la migliore squadra di basket del mondo, dimostrando che gli afroamericani potevano eccellere a livello professionale”.

Le 75 mila persone che assistettero allo show dei Globetrotters allo stadio Olimpico di Berlino nel 1951 furono la certificazione che la squadra era diventata un’icona di pace, amicizia, divertimento e solidarietà in tutto il mondo. Wilt Chamberlain uno dei più grandi giocatori di sempre, prese parte alla storica tournée in Unione Sovietica, e addirittura l'Hall of Famer giocò un'intera stagione con i Globetrotters nel 1958-59. Stagione nella quale la squadra si trasferì ad Harlem, New York.

Negli anni ’70 la popolarità degli Harlem ebbe un nuovo impulso con la creazione di un cartone animato trasmesso il sabato mattina dalla CBS e poi ebbero uno spazio importante sulla rete ABC. La prima donna a giocare con loro è stata Lynette Woodward , campionessa olimpica  e da quel momento lo show dei Globetrotters è diventato un appuntamento universale. Che continua a divertire i ragazzi e le ragazze più piccole ma al quale anche gli adulti faticano a rinunciare.

L’Italia è uno dei paesi preferiti dai funamboli della palla a spicchi: 60 le città italiane visitate con alcuni momenti straordinari. La festa di mezzanotte a Capo d’Orlando, o il taglio di una gigantesca torta nel centro a Napoli con una folla immensa e l’incontro con Papa Francesco nel 2016 quando ricorrevano i novant’anni dalla nascita della squadra.

The Harlem Globetrotters 2023 World Tour is coming with game like never before! Your favourite Globetrotter stars are bringing out their amazing basketball skill, outrageous athleticism and a non-stop LOL good time. Join the Globetrotters as they go head-to-head against the Washington Generals who will stop at nothing to try and defeat the world’s winningest team!  In 2023, every fan is getting in on this action…that means YOU, so get ready! It’s GLOBETROTTER game time!

Child Ticket Policy

Infants under 24 months of age may sit in a ticket holder’s lap so long as they do not obstruct the view of others and do not require a ticket. 

On event days, tickets for that day’s event will become unavailable via online one hour prior to the scheduled start of the event. After this time, tickets will only be available for purchase in person at the Tribute Communities Centre Ticket Office or by phone.
