Things to know about Egypt & Nile Cruises

Is nile cruise a magical trip that you must experience.

A Nile cruise is a magical and unforgettable experience that should be on everyone’s travel bucket list. It’s a journey that takes you back to the ancient world of Egypt, where you’ll see some of the world’s most iconic historical sites up close. From the Valley of the Kings to the Temple of Karnak, you’ll be transported to a world of mystery, intrigue, and wonder. And all while enjoying the comfort and luxury of a five-star hotel on water. Don’t miss out on this incredible adventure. Book your Nile cruise today and experience the magic for yourself.

Where do Nile cruises depart from?

Nile cruises typically depart from two main cities in Egypt: Luxor and Aswan. Luxor is located in southern Egypt and is home to some of the most impressive ancient Egyptian temples and tombs. Aswan, also located in southern Egypt, is known for its scenic beauty and is the gateway to the temples of Abu Simbel. Some Nile cruises also offer round-trip itineraries that depart from and return to Cairo, the capital of Egypt. However, most Nile cruises follow the traditional route between Luxor and Aswan.

What are the stops on the Nile cruise?

The stops on a Nile cruise may vary depending on the length of the cruise and the specific itinerary. However, most Nile cruises follow a similar route, including stops at some of Egypt’s most iconic historical sites. Here are some of the typical stops on a Nile cruise:

  • Luxor: The ancient city of Luxor is often the starting point for a Nile cruise. Here, you can explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Karnak, and the Temple of Luxor.
  • Esna: This small town is known for its well-preserved Temple of Khnum, dedicated to the ram-headed god of the Nile.
  • Edfu: Here, you can visit the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt.
  • Kom Ombo: This temple is unique in that it is dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile-headed god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god.
  • Aswan: The final stop on most Nile cruises, Aswan is home to the Temple of Philae, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the High Dam. It is also the gateway to the temples of Abu Simbel.

These are just some of the typical stops on a Nile cruise. Depending on the itinerary, you may visit other sites, such as the Nubian village or the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Is Egypt a safe destination to Visit?

Egypt is generally considered a safe destination for tourists to visit. The country relies heavily on tourism, and the government has taken extensive measures to ensure the safety of tourists. There are police checkpoints throughout the country, particularly in tourist areas, and security measures are in place at airports, hotels, and major tourist sites.

As with any travel destination, it’s always wise to exercise caution and take commonsense safety precautions. It is advised to avoid large crowds, especially during demonstrations or protests, and always to remain alert and aware of your surroundings. It is also recommended that you follow the advice of your tour guide or travel operator and check with your embassy or consulate for any travel tips before your trip.

Overall, as long as you take the necessary precautions, Egypt is a safe and welcoming destination that offers a wealth of history, culture, and natural beauty for visitors to explore and enjoy.

What is the best time to visit Egypt?

The best time to visit Egypt is between October and April, during the country’s mild winter. The temperatures are pleasant during the day, ranging from the mid-60s to the mid-80s Fahrenheit (about 18-30 degrees Celsius), and more relaxed at night. This is also the peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.

Visiting Egypt from May to September can be a good option if you prefer to avoid crowds and endure hotter temperatures. Temperatures during this time can reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) or higher, but this is also the low season so you may find better deals on tours and accommodations.

It’s also important to note that Ramadan, the month-long Islamic holiday of fasting and prayer, can affect travel to Egypt. During Ramadan, many businesses and tourist sites have reduced hours or may be closed altogether. The dates of Ramadan change each year based on the Islamic calendar, so it’s essential to check the dates before planning your trip.

In summary, the best time to visit Egypt is during the winter season, between October and April, but if you don’t mind the heat and want to avoid the crowds, visiting during the summer months can also be a good option.

Tipping or Baksheesh in Egypt

Tipping, or baksheesh, is a common practice in Egypt and is considered a way to show appreciation for good service. It’s important to note that while tipping is not mandatory, it is expected in many situations, and it’s a good idea to carry small bills and change for this purpose.

Here are some standard tipping practices in Egypt:

Planning Your Safari Adventure

Safari in Egypt

A. Best Times to Go for the Best Safari Experience:

Egypt’s many environments make it possible to see a wide range of animals, but the time of your trip can greatly affect the experience. When it comes to safaris, the best time to go is during the dry season, which lasts from late October to early April. It’s easy to see animals during this time because there isn’t much greenery, and animals tend to gather near water sources. During the summer, please avoid animals because they tend to hide in the shade, making them harder to see.

B. Choosing the Right Safari Package:

Choosing the right tour plan is important for a smooth and fun trip. Egypt has many kinds of tours, from travels through the desert to trips to see wildlife. When picking a deal, consider what you like and are interested in.

C. Desert Safari trips:

If you want to experience the beauty and mystery of the desert, a desert tour is the best thing for you. On these trips, people often ride camels, visit old sites, and look at the stars in the vast desert sky. Make sure you choose a plan that lets you see well-known deserts like the Sinai Peninsula or the White Desert.

  • Wildlife Safaris:

A wildlife tour is best for animal lovers to see Egypt’s wide range of plants and animals. Check out deals that include trips to national parks and areas like Ras Mohammed National Park or Wadi El Rayan. Many species, like gazelles, ibexes, and birds, live in these places.

  • Combination Deals:

For the best of both worlds, think about getting a plan that includes wildlife and desert trips. In this way, you can see the stunning wildlife that lives in Egypt’s protected areas and enjoy the stark beauty of the desert.

Tips for a Memorable Safari Experience

Going on a safari desert tour in Egypt will give you chances to see animals, see beautiful scenery, and learn about the culture. These helpful tips will help you ensure that your trip is memorable and captures the heart of this one-of-a-kind place.

A. Photography Tips for Capturing Wildlife of Deserts and Landscapes:

Safari in Egypt

Invest in a Good Zoom Lens:

A good zoom lens is necessary to get pictures of the animals that are hard to find in the vast deserts. This lets you take photos of animals from a safe distance without getting in the way of how they normally behave.

Be Patient and Observant:

Animals may be spread out more in the desert, so you may need patience to get the right shot. Spend time watching how animals act and be ready to take pictures of those unexpected moments that make for great photos.

Golden Hour Magic:

The golden hour is the soft, warm light at sunrise and sunset. It can change the way your photos look. These are the best times to plan your trips to see the desert’s beautiful colors and wildlife in their most captivating light.

Use the Landscape to Frame Shots:

Add the sheer size of the desert to your designs. Take pictures of wildlife against sand or other natural features to give your photos more depth and background.

Silhouette Shots at Sunset:

Play around with silhouettes against the sun going down. Using this method, you can make beautiful pictures of animals and settings.

B. Navigating Cultural Sensitivities:

Safari in Egypt

Respect Local Customs:

Learn the habits and customs of the people you may meet in the area and treat them with care. This includes meeting people, what to wear, and how to act in different situations.

Ask for Permission Before Photographing Locals:

Before taking pictures of people in your area, you should always ask their permission. People may not like being captured, so please be aware of that and respect their privacy.

Learn Basic Arabic Phrases:

Many people in tourist places speak English, but learning a few simple Arabic words can help you connect with locals and show that you respect their culture.

Support Local Businesses:

Help the local economy by buying from small businesses and artists. This not only makes your cultural experience better, but it also makes sure that your tourist dollars help the area.

C. Safety Tips for Traveling in the Desert:

Safari in Egypt

Stay Hydrated:

EGYPT SAFARI FAQs

How safe is egypt.

From the minute you step of the plane in Egypt you will have 24 hour support throughout your adventure. Emma, who runs these rides and is from the UK, has been living, travelling and working there for over 10 years and knows the country inside out. The main tourist areas are no more dangerous than popular places you might visit in the US or Europe.

What to wear in Egypt?

While most locals follow the strict Muslim dress code, it is not reqired for tourists. Dressing conservatively is a way to show your respect to their culture, so we recommend long loose-fitting pants and shirts that cover the shoulders when not riding. Ladies can bring a scarf to cover their hair when visiting mosques or churches, and men should avoid shorts when not at the beach.

When is the best time for a horse trail in Egypt?

Egypt can be incredibly hot in summer, so horse riding holidays run in the cooler months from October to May.

Can I see the pyramids on horseback?

Visiting the 7th Wonder of the World, the Giza Pyramids by horseback, should be on every horse riders bucket list! We suggest adding an extra 3 days to your trip, and beginning your horse riding adventure in Egypt with an exhilarating ride to explore these incredible tombs.

Do i need a visa to visit Egypt?

For the vast majority of visitors to Egypt, including visitors from Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States, you can purchase your visa on arrival. It is best to pay in cash and make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months after travel. Visa’s can also be purchased online through Egypt’s Visa e-portal and it is best to double-check your visa requirements before travelling.

I did the tour about Palms, Pyramids and Pharaohs. Emma and her team are very good to the horses and really want you to have the best time. Not only for riding experiences I've never imagined to live one day, also for the non-riding time I am so happy about our experiences. To choose the right size for your kite, you need to take 2 criteria into account: your weight and the strength of the wind. Briefly, the relationship between them can be expressed as follows:

  • Weight: Heavy weight = large kite, light weight = small kite
  • Wind: Strong wind = small kite, light wind = large kite

The wind force and the rider’s weight should always be considered in relation to one another.

The most versatile kite in the world is 12 sq. m. Depending on the strength of the wind and your experience, for a weight of 60-70 kg (132-154 lbs.), it is recommended to take the 11-12 and 7-8 sizes. For 70-80 kg (154-176 lbs.) it should be the 13-14 and 9-10 sizes, and for 80-100 kg (176-220 lbs.), it should be the 15-16 and 10-11 kite sizes.

The following factors should be considered:

  • Rider’s level: The higher your level is, the higher the range of kite you can use, and vice versa.
  • Rider’s weight: The higher your weight is, the higher the range of kite you can use, and vice versa.
  • Board size and displacement: The larger the board, the lower the wind range of the kite is, and vice versa.

Unlike experienced riders, beginners should take a smaller kite. Generally, consider the following: if you use a kite whose size is not large enough for a given wind, it will be inconvenient when starting from the water and going upwind. If the kite is too large, you can lose control of it, and that is unsafe. Since the wind often changes, it makes sense for experienced kiteboarders to purchase 2-3 kites with a difference of 3-5 sq. m for different wind conditions – they will cover up to 90% of the range of existing winds.

For beginners and those who wish to brush up on their skills, we provide kitesurfing training. We have experienced instructors for all levels, and all of them have IKO and VDWS international certifications. You can choose the right one based on your goals. Would you like to get to know the kite? Learn new tricks? Try foilboarding? Whatever you dream of, our instructors will help you make it happen. To receive training, the minimum age is 7-8 years old, and the weight must not be less than 35-40 kg (77-88 lbs.). You can receive training in Russian, Ukrainian, and English.

An introductory course is essential for beginners. It introduces the kite and how it works with the power of water and wind, and gives the basics of safety. Practical lessons in shallow water teach you how to operate the kite, launch and land it, start from the water, and move against the wind. The result will be that you will be confident enough to have a really good time kitesurfing.

  • Group lessons: 500 € (2-4 people in a group)
  • Individual lessons: 600 €
  • Hourly lessons: 80 € per hour

The complete course expands the basic knowledge of kite and kitesurfing and helps you to work on those moments in kitesurfing you are not good at. This course will help you grow and develop in kitesurfing confidently and safely.

You can kitesurf in Egypt year-round. This is good news for those who like to “fly” on a kite. But each season is different.

  • May to October is the best season for kiting. The air temperature is 27-32 C (81-90 F), and the water temperature is 28-31 C (82-89 F).
  • In November to February, the air temperature is about 10-21 C (50-70 F), but rain is very likely. This weather is not very suitable for kiting.
  • The rainiest month is January. However, even in winter, less precipitation falls on the Red Sea.

The perfect weather conditions for kiting are wind that is calm but strong enough, and warm water. Each year is different from the previous one, and it is impossible to predict the weather conditions in advance. Nevertheless, we advise you to plan a kite safari in Egypt between April and October.

Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves and immediately going out to sea with a kite. Jump into the sky. Feel the salty sea spray on your lips, and the joy, euphoria, and fullness of life! After a day full of impressions, you spend the evening in a cozy atmosphere, chatting with friends. And just like that every day for a whole week. Fantastic! All this is available without having to make hard choices or draw up difficult routes. Send us a request and get ready for adventure!

Black Desert Egypt

The Black Desert in Egypt, one of the most picturesque places on earth and an excellent safari destination. Despite being uninhabitable due to the sweltering heat, lack of basic supplies, and drought, the Black Desert is one of the most amazing tourist destinations in the world. The word “black” originated from the sands, mountains and hills covered with a thick layer of black powder. Thick powder from previous volcanic eruptions covers the tops of some mountains in the Black Desert and gives the impression that they are wearing hats. However, the other mountains were completely covered in black powder, making it difficult to discern their original color. The Black Desert in Egypt has dunes up to 100 meters high, and they vary in size, shape, composition, and color.
