Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.

  • Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
  • Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
  • Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Compliance status

Key West Old Town Trolley Tours

There’s no better way to see all of Key West than with Old Town Trolley Tours.

The island of Key West is full of fun and exciting things to do and see. From the Southernmost Point to the quaint streets of Old Town, our tour takes you to all the major areas and attractions. See Key West’s first tourist attraction, the Key West Aquarium, which was also the world’s first open air aquarium. Cross the street and you’ll find yourself back in the 1800s at the Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum, learning about how Key West became one of the richest cities in the US. The Oldest House Museum is also nearby; it is one of the many beautifully restored homes that are open to the public in Key West.

Stop by the Ernest Hemingway House Museum where he is rumored to have written A Farewell to Arms — and don’t forget to look for the 6 or 7 toed cats! Marvel at the beautiful species of butterflies in the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, and wander next door to the Southernmost House Mansion and Museum, known for its 19th century architecture and tropical gardens. Cool off with a drink at the famous Sloppy Joe’s Bar or Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville in the Old Town area. But don’t leave Key West until you’ve watched the sunset from Mallory Square, a truly memorable experience!

Ghosts & Gravestones Night Tour

Your voyage begins with your Ghost Host, an unusual individual even by Key West standards, who will be your guide as you wander the streets of historic Old Town aboard the Trolley of the Doomed in search of the forgotten souls. Their tales of murder, disease and misfortune will take us out of the present and into the past in search of lost tombs, strange dolls, and the Lady in Blue.

You will pass by some of the most tragic and most sacred sites of the island such as the Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes, which protects the city from hurricanes, and even Captain Tony’s Saloon. You probably think it is only a bar… but is it? Even the majestic St. Paul’s Church, founded by Key West’s finest families, has secrets…

Your voyage includes a stop at the Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum deep into its cistern filled with tales of those who have haunted its dark past. As you journey upstairs you will discover “Daddy Long Legs” and the cursed silver bar from an ill-fated shipwreck in 1656.

We run on dark and stormy nights! Comfortable shoes are recommended so that you don’t become dead on your feet during the walking portion. Space is limited for this exclusive tour!

This tour may not be suitable for children under 13 years of age.

This morning snorkel begins with a 7-mile sail to the Florida Reef, the only living coral barrier reef in the U.S. Enjoy the warm ocean breezes as you cruise on the company's 69-foot catamaran. Then, view tropical fish, turtles and lobsters as you snorkel in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters. Visitors commend the crew's professionalism and the enjoyable catamaran ride. They also report seeing a variety of fish and marine life.

The three-hour tour begins at 9 a.m. daily and includes snorkel gear and instruction. Complimentary soft drinks, water, and wine and beer (available after snorkeling) are also included. Tickets start at $40 for adults and $35 for children ages 4 to 11. Sebago Watersports also operates catamaran sunset sails, among other tours.

Key West Extreme Adventures – Shark and Wildlife Tour

If you're hoping to see sharks in the wild, consider this two-hour catamaran tour with Key West Extreme Adventures. You'll cruise a few miles off the coast keeping your eyes peeled for dolphins, stingrays, turtles and birds before the captain drops bait into the waters to attract lemon and nurse sharks to the boat. Tourgoers praise the knowledgeable captain and crew and report seeing a plethora of sharks.

Tours generally depart Thursday through Tuesday at 10 a.m., though they may be available daily, depending on the month. Tickets cost approximately $90 for adults and around $50 for kids ages 6 to 16. Children 5 and younger can ride for free.

Catamaran Echo – Adults only Champagne Celebration Sunset Cruise from Key West

Reviewers regularly call this two-hour sunset cruise relaxing and lovely. This adults-only tour includes unlimited Champagne, as well as red and white wine, beer, soft drinks, water and a cheese buffet. Though the catamaran can accommodate up to 28 passengers, capacity is capped at 14 people to create an intimate atmosphere – another highlight for tourgoers.

Cruises are available daily; departure times vary by season. In the summer months, the tour departs at 6:30 p.m. In the winter, the boat departs at 4 p.m. Tickets cost approximately $75 per person and include all beverages and food. All ages are welcome on private sunset charters, as well as the company's dolphin and snorkeling tour.

Honest Eco – Dolphin Watch & Snorkel

Eco-conscious travelers may want to book this four-hour tour, which takes places on a custom-built electric catamaran. Along with the hybrid boat, the tour is led by marine biologists. Reviewers praise the guides for their vast knowledge of the animals and ecosystem and also appreciate that the electric boat doesn't scare off dolphins thanks to its quiet motor. During the four-hour excursion, you'll watch dolphins swim alongside the boat, and then get a chance to snorkel with a member of the crew as your guide. According to the company, this tour is suitable for novice and beginner snorkelers.

Tours are available daily at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets cost approximately $110 for adults and around $90 for children ages 2 to 11. Honest Eco also runs a sunset sail, among other options.

Here’s what happened to the double-decker tour buses downtown

City sightseeing of san antonio closed shop in january.

Spencer Heath , Digital Journalist

SAN ANTONIO – Remember the bright, red double-decker tour buses downtown? Well, they have gone out of business, and a new company has taken their place.

David Strainge, founder of City Sightseeing of San Antonio, started the trolley company in 2010, according to the San Antonio Report . He opened the company as a franchise of the international tour bus operator based in Seville, Spain.

City Sightseeing closed shop in early January. Since the closure, Strainge has branched off into other business opportunities.

This has made way for Historic Tours of America to bring Old Town Trolley Tours to San Antonio.

“The timing could not have been more perfect. We have been looking to expand and the opportunity presented itself in this amazing city,” said Historic Tours of America’s CEO Chris Belland.

Old Town Trolley Tours, featuring orange and green-style busses, offers guests a 90-minute narrated tour with 14 stops throughout San Antonio.

The 12-mile tour ride includes stops at the Alamo Plaza, Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio Zoo, Witte Museum, Botanical Gardens, The Pearl, San Antonio Museum of Art, Veteran’s Memorial Park, The Tobin Center, Buckhorn Saloon, E. Houston Street, Spanish Governor’s Palace, Historic Market Square, Tower of the Americas, Hemisfair, The Alamo, and the Crockett Hotel.

“San Antonio is a city with incredible history, attractions, sites, and fabulous people which is what we look for when going into a city,” said Belland.

Old Town Trolley Tours also offers a ‘Hometown Pass’ to Bexar County residents, granting free access when bringing an adult paying guest, according to a press release.

In addition to San Antonio, the release mentioned Old Town Trolley Tours also operates in Key West, Boston, Washington, Savannah, St. Augustine, San Diego, and Nashville.
